If-Then-Funtion bei Acrobat 9 Pro

Sehr geehrte Acrobat-Nutzer,
eure anna

It's now been almost 4 months since I encountered this "issue".  Some extra information would be that, when I first posted this topic, I was using a "free" (read between the lines) version of Acrobat 8 Pro.  SInce that time, I have actually purchsed Acrobat 9 Pro and still have the problem with my program shutting down when trying to select the Preferences link.  What gives?  What would cause this.  And before someone else says, try repairing the software, I have done that as well as making sure there are no updates available.
As an aside, I am another one that is disgusted with Adobe for not making the one click PDF Creator funcional in Office 2010.

  • Uninstall and then re-install Acrobat Pro with CS6 Master Suite

    Hello,
I'm using Windows 8.1 and could not open pdfs (or indeed open Acrobat XI Pro at all).  I have CS6 Master Suite, and I seem to recall Acrobat coming with that purchase, whether it's officially part of CS6 or not.
Forums suggested uninstalling and re-installing Acrobat.  I've uninstalled but am now struggling to find where/how to re-install Acrobat from my account on Adobe.com.
    Any pointers please?

Thank you very much for your answer - but the problem is that I went down that route to no avail.
I only have one serial number, and that's the one I got when I purchased CS6 Master Suite.  Acrobat XI seemed to come as part of this.
But when I use my CS6 serial number, the Acrobat installer doesn't like it.
To my knowledge, I don't have any other serial numbers at my disposal.
    Any ideas?

  • Acrobat Pro 9 freezes when trying to edit preferences

    I have Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
When I try to Edit-> Preferences, the application locks up.  It eventually goes to 'not responding" and I have to kill it using Task Manager.
I found this problem when I was troubleshooting a customer's issue where he could not Extract pages from a PDF document. The Extract window would come up, he would put in the pages he wanted and start the process. It would act like its going through the motions but nothing would happen and he would have to open task manager to stop the Acrobat process.
I was able to duplicate the problem with my Administrator account.  I also found the same problem when I tried to go to Edit > Preferences.  Acrobat went into a not responding state and I had to kill the process using Task Manager.
I have verified that the problem is not document specific:  It happens on multiple documents. If I copy the document to another machine with Acrobat Pro 9,  I have no problem Extracting pages.
I have uninstalled Acrobat Pro 9.  That included removing c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\acrobat* and c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\*  I rebooted the computer and then reinstalled  Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.    Same problem for both my regular and my administrator accounts.
I have compared permissions and registry entries between this machine and one where its working but have not found any differences.
Any suggestions on what else to try would be greatly appreciated.

You would think.  However, repairing Adobe, uninstalling (including deleting registry entries,  c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\* and c:\program files\Adobe\*  , etc) did not resolve the issue.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1

I updated two machines to 9.1 as prompted yesterday. On both machines nothing happens when I try to access
Help / about Adobe Acrobat 9 Prom Check for updates, About adobe Plug-ins
    Any suggestions welcome

Sorry I think you have misunderstood. In Adobe Acrobat 9 I ran check update and it proposed download and install of 9.1. I did this on several machines but now when I go to help, and then "about Adobe Acrobat pro" nothing happens, same with check update, no action occurs at all.

  • Creating an interactive form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.5

Can anyone advise if what I am planning is possible given the version I am using. I am using a Mac.
I am trying to create a briefing form for a design studio that will allow people requesting artwork to enter the relevant information (dates, page count etc.) and then for the form to calculate the number of days that it will take and the cost (based on a daily rate x number of days).
The form will initally be produced in InDesign CS5 and exported as a PDF and then edited in Acrobat Pro 9.5. Essentially, the form needs to be able to calculate date ranges (i.e. number of work days between two dates) and then calculate prices based on a daily work rate (which would be hidden to the user). I would also need it to calculate totals say based on the following example:
1-2 page document - allow ten days.
For every additional 2 pages add a day
"Is photography required?" If yes, add a day for up to 5 photos. etc.
Before I even attempt this, I need to know if it is even possible given the version I am using. If not, I will explore doing it in Excel, but I would far prefer using Acrobat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible to do the calculations using JavaScript. The hardest part may be determining what's a working day and what's not. If it's certain days of the week (Mon-Fri) it's not too much of a problem, but it can get complicated if you have to contend with holidays or other irregular non-work days.

  • How do i turn on advanced editing in adobe acrobat pro 9

    my icons are dimmed out

Thank you. These are documents I have created my self, either by scanning in or saving as pdfs. I checked on of the documents and it says No Security. And Allowed is listed for all the Document Restrictions Summary choices.
Some background. I first purchased Adobe Acrobat 5 which I used for years. For reasons unknown to me I then purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. It has never allowed me to do anything with the text so I've always ended up with the 5 and only used the 9 to read pdfs sent to me that were newer versions and would not open in 5.
I have just purchased a new computer, Windows 7 OS and now my 5 will no longer work and I am stuck with 9. I have searched the Adobe website to find out how, if one owns the software - paid cold hard (and a goodly amount) cash - one turns on the editing function and have failed miserable. I did try support, but they pretty much hang up if you say the word "9". A couple of techs did try to steer me in some direction which ended up being this forum so....long story short, when one purchases the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 software, where does one go to turn on the advanced editing capabilities so that the icons are not dimmed out.
    Many thanks!!!!!

  • Acrobat Pro XI and ScanSnap iX500

I use a ScanSnap iX500 on Mac running OS !0.10.2. The ScanSnap uses an ABBYY built-in ocr engine and it generates an excellent ocr layer. I can see the OCR layer in other apps and I know it is excellent. And other apps that handle pdfs (PDFpenPro and Skim) can word search the layer perfectly. Recently, however, Acrobat Pro XI cannot word search files scanned and ocr'd by the ScanSnap, even though the layer is complete and excellent. Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix this? I have re-installed Acrobat Pro XI and the ScanSnap software (including the ABBYY part) from scratch, and all software is fully updated. This is occurring on two Macs; it is not confined to one machine.

I'm having the exact same problem with both my Macbook Pro and my iMac 5k Retina. I was ready to return my ScanSnap iX500 thinking the OCR was broken but it's Acrobat that has the problem. My ScanSnap iX500 scans the document and I have the OCR setup correctly but both Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and the Adobe Reader barely pick up any of the OCR text in the document. Pure text documents seem to be OCR readable with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI but keyword searching  bills or bank statements or anything that the text is broken up into sections seems to be useless as most of the words don't show and are not searchable.
I can see the that the documents are properly OCR searchable as Mac Yosemite will index all the keywords so I can find the document in finder but acrobat can't search them. I can also keyword search properly the documents using Macs built in Preview app.
I've also tried OCR indexing the documents using the ScanSnap iX500's built in hardware, ABBYY Finereader express, Scansnap receipt, Searchable PDF converter but Acrobat won't properly keyword search any of them.
The only solution I've found is to scan the documents with or without OCR then open Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and rescan the OCR again. You can do this on one document or a Batch of documents so you could fix all your PDF's overnight. After that then Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and Adobe Reader can OCR search the documents properly.
Here's the solution I'm using until Adobe fixes Acrobat on the Mac. Just have Acrobat rescan the OCR and save the file to fix is. Instructions below:
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/acrobat/pdfs/adobe-acrobat-xi-scan-pape r-to-pdf-and-apply-ocr-tutoria…
Scan paper to PDF and apply OCR with Adobe® Acrobat® XI
Scan and convert paper documents and forms to PDF. Make scanned text searchable automatically with optical character recognition (OCR), and then check and fix suspected errors.
    Scan to PDF
Apply OCR to a scanned PDF document
    Open the PDF file.
    2. In Acrobat select View>Tools>TextRecognition. TheText Recognition panel in the Tools pane opens.
    3. Click In This File. Designate the desired pages and click OK. Acrobat applies OCR to the scanned document.

  • How can I manage to install Acrobat Pro XI in Safari ?

    Pascal Guernier May 5, 2014 8:26 AM
    Hi,
Someone can tell me how I can manage to install Acrobat Pro XI as the default PDF reader ?
Before I tried to remove Acrobat Reader XI from my MacBook Pro retina under Mac OS.X.9.2. With the help of Apple's phone support.
We did clear all caches in libraries and in other places. But, rapidly perhaps, I've deleted a folder name Reader with The XI version ? Was it Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro ? I don't know ?
Thank you for support because I'm in the french's taxes declaration...
    Best,
    Pascal

    Thank you for your question.
First because I was unable to save a document with a right click. Just able to print, rotate and nothing more. And a mini left screen's menu. Except thumbnails and page number, no option.  And all the Acrobat Tools were not proposed. Such edit, remove a page. Optimize And so on.
So I did believe it was a reduced version of Acrobat pro : Acrobat reader. A good tool too.
The possible solution suggested by an another user was to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat Pro.
In fact I succeeded by unistalling Acrobat Pro XI with the appropriate tool : an uninstaller. Located in the an adobe folder in Utility Tools. So I uninstall Acrobat Pro correctly. A cleaner is proposed for windows system at labs.adobe.com
And I erased by throwing it, in the TrashCan, Acrobat READER.
Then with Creative Cloud tool and my account I reinstalled Acrobat Pro XI.
And then I followed Adobe's manual tips. First I chose a Pdf file. With a right click. And in the contextual menu I chose Informations. Then I selected Acrobat Pro XI as THE défaut reader. With an option named Complete too. In order that any PDF file will be opened by Acrobat Pro XI.
    And it seems to work.
But your question is pertinent. Because if I had after a way to save the document with a Save icon, this doc. was a sensible one : my income taxes of 2013 provided by the french ministry of finance...
So I was able to save this doc. And after in Acrobat Pro with usual tools I did compile all the compulsory others pdf docs.
    Thank you and Best regards
    Pascal

  • Installed Acrobat Pro and uninstall Reader does not work defaults back to Reader

I've installed Acrobat Pro, after installing Acrobat Reader.  After I uninstall Reader and click on a PDF file, it automatically opens it in Reader.  I've clicked Acrobat 9 as my preferred software, but next time, it reverts back to opening in Reader.  I'm using a lenovo Yoga laptop with Windows 8.1.

Thank you very much for your reply.  This didn't work.  As you can tell, this is not a high priority for me, just annoying that I have to uninstall Reader every time I open a PDF.  It will open in Acrobat after that, 'til I shut down my laptop.
Here's the order:  I installed Acrobat Reader.  Then I installed Acrobat Pro.  Then I uninstalled Acrobat Reader.  But when I click on a PDF file, it reopens in Acrobat Reader (I don't use Microsoft Reader - at least on purpose!)  Somehow Acrobat Reader is not completely uninstalling and reactivates.  Our computer consultant tried to fix it, but couldn't.   He said he thot some of his research showed this was a problem in Windows 8 and 8.1?
I just tried going into Programs in the Control Panel and Acrobat Pro 9 only shows Uninstall/Change, not Repair.  However, I clicked through and got to Repair.  Tried that (which I've actually done before) and still didn't work.

  • Uninstalling Trial version of ELS 6 also uninstalled Acrobat Pro 10 from ELS 2.5

I currently have a licensed copy of eLearning Suite 2.5 on my machine. I downloaded the trial version of ELS 6 about a month ago, but decided just to buy Captivate 6 as a standalone product. So I uninstalled ELS 6 today (which includes Acrobat Pro 11) and installed Captivate 6. I then discovered that Acrobat Pro 10 was no longer present on my machine, so I'm assuming that the uninstall process for ELS 6 must have somehow uninstalled it as well. I have the serial number to activate ELS 2.5 if I were able to download it again, but it's no longer available for download through the website since the new version has been launched. I don't have the install disk, since it was just purchased for download. How can I reinstall Acrobat Pro 10 on my machine?

Acrobat 10 was uninstalled when you installed Acrobat 11 as part of the installation process.
If you originally chose the download option you can check to see if the software is still available on your order page at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006208?tstart=0&promoid=KBHJQ.  If it isn't you can contact our support team and they maybe able to re-enable the download.
If you did not choose the download option but have lost your installation media then I am not aware of any locations which you can download the older versions of the eLearning Suite from.

  • How to upgrade to Acrobat Pro XI?

I currently have standard installed but have a license to Pro.  Is there a way to type in the S/N to upgrade to Pro or do I have to completely uninstall and find the installer for Pro?

Yes, you have to uninstall Acrobat Standard first and then download/install Acrobat Pro. They both are two seperate applications and have different installers as well.
So, you can download Acrobat Pro XI from the below link and use the serial key that you have to serialize it.

    Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
    Please check the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

    Hi Tbeirne,
If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.
    or
To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.

  • Create a file in illustrator - then create hyperlinks in Acrobat Pro - if need to re-edit in illustrator loose hyperlinks

Hi, i have created a very detailed map in illustrator CS4 (PDF file). Then i wanted to add hyperlinks, so i opened the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to put the links on. everything worked perfectly. Then i had to change something on my map - so i opened the PDF file in Illustrator and all the hyperlinks are gone. HELP. what am i doing wrong? how do i keep the links. (it is not the sort of edit that i could do in adobe acrobat pro - it is a design and move things around type edit)
    thank you.

You would be best off replacing pdf pages in your existing linked pdf.
Edit your original Illustrator file and creating a pdf of that. Replace (don't delete!) pages in your existing linked pdf with your updated pdf. The links will remain and you'll have the updated image you need. It is also a better work flow to maintain your Illustrator file.
