If u tried upgrading to new iTunes & it said you needed newer Quicktime...

I had the older version of iTunes and it worked perfectly fine with my mini iPod - I saw no reason to upgrade since things were going well. However, I recently received the new iPod shuffle and iTunes told me I had to upload the newest version to use with my shuffle. So, I upload the new version of iTunes which simultaneously upgraded my Quicktime. Anyway, after upload was complete I tried clicking on my iTunes icon and it said I needed a newer version of Quicktime (ironic, since I thought I just uploaded the newest version!?). So, naturally I tried loading the new Quicktime on independently and still had no luck. I also tried reinstalling both iTunes and Quicktime... still no luck. Finally, I decided to uninstall all iTunes and Quicktime programs on my computer and start fresh. Once I removed all those files, I restarted my computer and then I downloaded the new iTunes and I'm good to go. I know many of you were experiencing similar problems, so hopefully this will help you.

after that^ happened i decided to do a system restore to backdate to yesterday as my PC had gone rather laggy and jolty
after this i reinstalled itunes again
now i get an "unknown error (-200)"
I tried reinstalling iTunes 6 as i still had the installer on my hard drive but it just told me it couldnt read the library cos it was written witha later version
so i re installed the later versions and i still get the unknown error

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

The iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 or later and iTunes 10.7 requires OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8). If your profile is correct it looks like you need to update your OS X on you Mac. You can contact Apple and purchase the software from them.

Follow these instructions to remotely remove Find My iPhone from your device:
Make sure the device is powered on and connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. Then follow these steps:
Sign in to iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to your account, then select the device to be removed.
Click the Erase button to erase all content and settings from the device. When prompted, don't enter a phone number or message. Click Next until the device is erased.
When the erase is complete, click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.
After the device is erased and removed from the account, you can proceed with the device setup process.

Trying to connect to iTunes but says i need to restore iphone! HELP!

A few month ago my pc's hard drive crashed. I have since got it fixed with a new hard drive and with Windows 7 (previously I had XP).
I have just downloaded the new version of iTunes and when I connect my iphone a pop up appears stating that iTunes cannot read the content of my iphone and that it needs to be restored to the factory settings.
Is there anyway of fixing this problem without having to restore my iphone? If there is no alternative is there a way of saving everything? I haven't done a back up or upgrade in oer 4 months.

Unfortunately, no. If iTunes is giving you that message, there is data or code seriously corrupted in your phone, or there is hardware damage. The only solution is to restore as instructed. This is the downside of not backing up.
Out of curiosity, why did you not install iTunes and backup right after you replaced your HD and OS on your computer?
The only alternative for saving some data (the backup) is to obtain a 3rd party app for windows that can backup and restore some of it independently of iTunes. There are several of these - Google is your friend to find them. The caveat is that if your iPhone flash drive is corrupted, those apps may not work properly either.

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I get "you need to restart" messages!

After upgrading, I've gotten the "you need to restart" messages, forcing me to push down on the Power button once in a while. Sometimes I can use the computer for a whole day without getting it, but sometimes I get it 4-6 times a day. This is usually when I am using Firefox (with multiple saved tabs). You will need to update your iPad. Since you have iOS 4.3.3 you will need to connect your iPad to a computer with iTunes and update through iTunes.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

     If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
     below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
     simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
     same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Do the songs play in iTunes on the computer?
Are the songs in your iTunes library because you are using Home Sharing?

Trying to recover from constant kernel panics 'You need to restart your...'

Since last night I've been having major problems with my MBP. After installing some software on my Windows 7 Bootcamp partition, and following a restart, I got a kernel panic and the message "You need to restart your computer.." in 5 languages, and the screen would freeze.
Disconcertingly the desktop video was totally screwed up - the best way I can describe it is that a looked like a really, really bad 8-bit display, with huge blocky pixels.
Multiple attempts at pressing and holding the power button, then restarting, simply replicated the problem. In the end I was eventually able to boot up using a superduper clone. I decided to reformat the MBP HDD and copy the clone over. However, during the process the screensaver came on and froze the system, so I had to restart and repeat the process, this time switching off energy saver preferences and the screensaver.
So I'm back up and running (for now). I'm about to restore my energy preferences and test out the screen saver. Fingers crossed, but in the meantime, has anyone else come across an issue like this?
I've got 3rd party RAM installed, have had it for over a year, so not sure if this is the problem (hasn't been so far). As part of my initial troubleshooting I tried resetting PRAM but this had no discernible effect, other than to make the patchy block video more uniform (if that makes sense?)
I haven't tried the Apple Hardware Test yet, just got to find my original disks! Spec of MBP as per signature below.
Lastly, after I restored my system a browser window appeared, pointing to a file in my system library which contained the following:

I have an iPad, gen. 2, and it says that I need to update it to download apps. I was trying to get 'Netflix' and it said I need iOS 5. I don't have a computer with me so I can't connect it to iTunes, please help?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
