If upgrade from v.4.8 bigger problem?
Obviously, I've been too scared to upgrade my itunes/ipod for a long time since I'd read all the aggravation encountered (pre-Lorraine's revelation re: Quicktime/Norton.) I have version 3.02 on the ipod (a 20gb model)
should I bite the bullet and try? Or will upgrading from such an earlier version incure even more problems?
I'd appreciate advice from all you tech savvy people.
Dell Inspiron 8200 Windows XP
hiya!
I wasn't sure if I was missing something or 2) setting myself up for problems in the future by not having upgraded the software.
hmmmm. it's actually not all that easy to keep track of those issues. this post/thread has some information on those sorts of things. (although it's getting a little bit behind the times. a few more KB docs have been released since then, and there were security updates included in ... yesterday's ... release of QT 7.1.)

Can't upgrade from 9.04 without graphical problems maybe from ATIextension?
Hello,
I figured before I make the leap into purchasing a new machine (Mac or PC-still not sure) I'd post a reoccuring problem with my old Power Mac G4. I have tried on a number of occasions to upgrade from the 9.04 preinstalled system to 9.1 and then even higher. 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 to no success. I'll explain. Here are my machine specs:
---Power Mac G4
---400mhz (I believe it is an AGP Graphic not a PCI)
---512mb ram
---10gb hd, but i have a 120gb wd internal in the upper brack spot right above the 10g. I've been using the 120 gb split in 2 partitions as my 9.04 startup disk.
---external zip 250 usb attached.
---LaCie 52x cd burner attached via firewire
Everytime I try to run the update (and I have downloaded these more than once, thinking maybe it was corrupt on download) it leaves trails on my screen. For instance, when I scroll up and down in windows using the arrows all the text corrupts to the point you can't read it. If you move the windows around the screen that leaves trails and corrupts as well. I took some time and I think narrowed it down (maybe). If I remove the NEW ATI graphics extensions from the extensions folder (the ones from 9.1 install and replace them with the 9.04 (ones from my startup disk). The problem vanishes. So in a sense I'm running 9.1 with 9.04 ATI extensions. I did what the read me says for installing the update and I believe the firmware was up to date where it called for.
The overall hope was to maybe someday put OS X on this G4, which if I remeber correctly you're suppose to be able to do on a mac this old. But I'm having no luck what so ever.
Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I can keep this machine running a bit longer before having to invest in another one.
Thanks again.Hi, Creative -
One thing that comes to mind is that OS 9 (at least 9.1 and later, maybe earlier, too) installs two ATI extensions when only one is needed, the one specific to the kind of graphics card in the machine. Having both active can cause some problems.
Specifically, the two extensions are named -
ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator
ATI Radeon 3D Accelerator
Check in Apple System Profiler (on ASP's Devices & Volumes page, click the info triangles on the bus labelled PCI) to determine which card you have, Rage or Radeon, and then disable (or remove) the extension for the other kind of card. -
Hi,
I took a big leap and upgraded from DW8 to DWCS6. Also went from MAC G5 PPC to IMAC with Mavericks.
I transferred my site files over and set up a new site in DWCS6, pointing to the site files. No problem.
However, I have run across two problems since then.
1. If I open a file on the local site on the computer, it does not see the images folder. I can navigate to it and re-associate the image, but it is not automatic. I did nothing to change the structure of the local site, except move it as a whole from one computer to another. If I add an additional ../ to the SRC, then it comes up. If I then upload that page, the link still exists correctly. I don't understand the problem at all...please help!
2. When I want to upload a local file using the put command, I get an error message, something like it cannot create a certain folder in which the file exists. However, that file already exists on the remote end. I can drag the file over and then there is no problem.
I believe I can see that the problem is the same with both uploading and downloading, but can't quite figure out how to fix it. Any ideas? I figure this is probably common, or at least, I hope it is!
Thanks in advance,
LindaWow, thanks so much for the super-fast reply:
I will attach three images showing what you asked for. When I went back to check I noticed that the local files actually do seem to link up the images...it is only when I bring them down (get them) from the remote site that there is a problem...I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember it being this way earlier, but since I have done nothing to 'heal it' it might have been....only thing I did do was piece by piece link them up on the pages on which I was working.
Anyway, here are the screenshots. If you need more, or if they are unclear, let me know.
I really appreciate your help. If you write back and I do not answer immediately, it is only because I am out for a while.

Upgrade from x5 to v7 Import problem
Hi I have been using Robohelp v5 for the last 3 years, and
can finally get authorisation to upgrade to a newer version with
better capabilities.
I am attempting to upgrade my project in the Trial Version of
v7 so I can evaluate it. It is currntly in x5.
I use Robohelp HTML x5.0.1
I have 2 output methods that I use:
- Webhelp
- Microsoft HTML Help. The output for this is a .chm file
When I attempt to open this in RH7 it advises that the
project needs to be upgraded. Great, I click on Yes and it goes
away and upgrades the project.
However when it has completed this, a lot of the files are
either missing from the project or are blank. When I look at the
HTML for these files, it only has the title and the body is blank.
This seems to be the case for around 1/2 the pages in the project
and redoing these pages would be a time consuming job.
Has anybody got any idea of what I can do to fix this upgrade
issue?
Regards,
CraigThis is happening to me with converting an RH6 project to the
licensed version of RH7 -- aside from some garbage issues (e.g.,
HTML inserted in the text in place of initial quotes, hyphens, and
so forth) -- I thought it went almost smoothly. I just discovered,
however, in one large WebHelp project that four major topics were
blank on output.
In Robohelp Design view, each is also blank and in HTML view
there are some meta tags and empty opening and closing html, body,
head, and style tags. Looking at the HTML files with an external
editor, they are similarly truncated.
If I import those four files from a pre-upgraded backup, I
get exactly the same Design/HTML view from within RoboHelp, but
looking at those files with an external editor they are complete,
right down to the original kadov tags. And, they display when
compiled...I just can't edit them in RoboHelp (because they don't
show).
I took a pre-conversion backup and converted it again to 7:
same four files came up blank. Three of the four files have DHTML
drop-downs with tables, all four have DHTML drop-downs. Yes, I ran
the Update DHTML Effects in Topics... I also deleted the CPD file
and let the project rebuild...no difference.
So, in sum: RH7 cleared the content of four topics during the
conversion process. If pre-RH7 versions of these files are
subsequently imported, they can't be viewed in RH7, but are output
when the project is generated, and they retain their kadov tags.
...any ideas? -
Upgrade from CS3 extended to CS4 problem
I own CS3 Extended. I just purchased and download CS4 (not extended). Before I made the purchase, I contacted customer service (via chat) and was assured I could upgrade to CS4 from CS3 extended. When I try to register the product as an upgrade, it does not recogonize my CS3 extended serial number. Did Adobe steer me wrong?

Thanks
I recall you have to get some kind of code from them to unlock the upgrade.
It was discussed here on the forum a few months back. -
Will upgrading from Panther to Tiger cause problems with Fink?
I've just spent quite a bit of time setting up mysql via Fink on Panther.
I'm considering moving to Tiger, but it would be really annoying to have to do it all again.
Are there likely to be problems with Fink packages installed under Panther?Don't know, but suggest posting to the Unix forum under OS X Technologies.

I upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, after a few initial problems and two restores, everythings seemed to be working...until I went to play some music, all music loaded to itunes via CD's played, but ALL purchased music from itunes does not play...i click on the song and the screen flashes to the image then goes back to the list of songs, so the purchased music shows up...just does not play. Can anyone help resolve this problem? Thanks!
here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock. -
Hi all. I have been searching for days for a solution to a problem I am having with SP2013 Enterprise edition.
We recently upgraded from SP2013 Foundation to SP2013 Enterprise. After the upgrade, the search services are no longer working and we are receiving many application log entries indicating the following:
Application Server Administration job failed for service instance Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance (ea2019ef-bb9e-4efe-85ee-5d2307406f31).
Reason: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

as well as:

I have tried to remove the search service application and recreate it, and even though the SharePoint Central Administration states that it was created successfully, I am still getting the same errors in the log. If I go to the Search Service Application
Search Administration page, the "System Status" shows the following message:
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component '0359af35-0982-4ede-8838-b1d390e915bf' in search application 'Search Service Application' is in a good state and
try again
Additionally, under the "Search Application Topology" section, it states "Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may be because the admin component is not up and running" which I assume is normal if the admin is not
running.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?
Thanks!Hi Joaquin,
According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob
job-application-server-admin-service | fl. If it is not enabled, use PS command to enabled it and then reset Internet Information Services: Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service.
Best regards.
Thanks

AUTO_RUNSTATS: problems after upgrade from 8.2 to 9.5
Hello guys,
We're appreciating a problem in our recentley upgraded databases 9.5
We've upgraded from release 8.2 and we have activated the following parameters:
db2 UPDATE DB CONFIG USING AUTO_MAINT ON AUTO_TBL_MAINT ON AUTO_RUNSTATS ON
Although we don't see auto_runstats running in database. How can I activate this issue? Isn't it enough to activate these parameters?
regards,
FilipeHello Filipe,
have a look at your dump directory, under events you find file like db2optstats(n).log

Upgrade from LMS 3.0.1 to LMS 3.1 or 3.2 and problem with devices update
Hello
How to upgrade from LMS 3.0 December 2007 update to LMS 3.1 or LMS 3.2. The problem is the large number of C2960S-24TS-L switches that my organization has and cannot managed them..
I tried to upgrade devices through Software Center but always Ciscoworks informs me with the following message.
"Error while downloading package information from Cisco.com for the selected products. See the log file for details".
Also i can not run EOL/EOS inventory report. The message is
" INVREP0102: Cisco.com user credentials are invalid. Enter correct credentials." I check my credentials and is right.
The server has access to www through proxy without any restrictions.
In the past I've already updated devices through the software center. Also in the past i ve run EOS/EOL inventory reports.
The LMS 3.0 December 2007 has the following products
LMS

Has anyone knows what can be the problem??.
ThanksHi,
the problem to access cisco.com is because of a "bug". Its ID is CSCto46927.
http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCto46927
Symptom:
After the 16th of June 2011 LMS will no longer be able to download Software and Device Package updates, or PSIRT and End of Sale/Life information from CCO
Conditions:
Hosted services in Cisco.com that are being leveraged by LMS, for downloading the latest Software and Device Package updates, as well as the PSIRT and End of Sale/Life information are being migrated to a new framework and the old services will be retired.
This will affect all LMS 3.x and 4.x versions.
Refer to https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16806 for more information
Workaround:
Users of LMS 3.2.1 , 4.0 should install the patch that can be downloaded from cisco.com
Users of earlier version will need to upgrade to LMS 3.2 and then install the LMS 3.2 SP1 patch set before installing the patch"
Because of that it is necessary to upgrade not only to 3.1 or 3.2, you need 3.2.1 to get the patch and then access to cisco.com again.
The question about the better way for updating I can't answer. I did a update to 3.1 and then to 3.2. But I think you will find the requirements for the updates in the notes for them.
But I can't find LMS 3.1 in the cisco download center. There is only 3.2 and 3.2.1 available for me.

Idsm-2 problem: sensor upgrade from 4.1 to 5 or higher
Hi all,
I have a problem with my IDSM-2 module. I'm trying to sensor upgrade from IDS to IPS software (from 4.1 version to 5.x or higher).
If I do this from sensor under "admin user" and use major patch - IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg then I receive error:
"Error: idsPackageMgr: digital signature of the update file was not valid, use CCO to replace corrupted file ".
But file "IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg" is NOT corrupted. I cheked it under "service user" with md5sum utility - checksum is correct.
If I try to upgrade from maintance mode (ie re-image with wipe all information in application partition) then I receive:
"Application image upgrade complete. You can boot the image now.
Partition upgraded successfully"
Next, I'm reboot IDSM-2 module and receive:
"000133: Sep 7 15:10:18.622 MSK/MDD: %HA_EM-6-LOG: Mandatory.go_bootup.tcl: GOLD EEM TCL policy for boot up diagnostic
000134: Sep 7 15:10:18.290 MSK/MDD: %DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 4: Online Diagnostics detected a Major Error. Please use 'show diagnostic result <target>' to see test results.

000138: Sep 7 15:10:19.170 MSK/MDD: %C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 4 set off (Diagnostic Failure)"
ie module go to the "PwrDown" state.
I try to upgrade for next firmware:
IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg
IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.bin.gz
IPS-K9-7.0-5a-E4.pkg
IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg
WS-SVC-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-5.0-1.bin.gz
and did not get success
chassis - 6509-e, sup - VS-S720-10G + VS-F6K-PFC3C, ios - s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXI6.bin
maintance software for IDSM-2 module - 3.4(2)m
Could you please help me? Thanks in advance!I have a problem with my IDSM-2 module. I'm trying to sensor upgrade from IDS to IPS software (from 4.1 version to 5.x or higher). It has been a long time since I've seen a sensor running 4.1 or an upgrade to 5.0(1e) . If I recall correctly, there were some issues with upgrading if you were running a release from the 4.1 train earlier than 4.1(4). Additionally, the upgrade from 4.1 -> 5.0 includes a configuration conversion (due to differences between the software trains), which was prone to failure depending on the presence of certain configuration options.
Unless you absolutely need to keep the existing configuration, you would save yourself time and effort by simply re-imaging the sensor directly to the desired release. Modern (supported) releases would be either 7.0(5a)E4 or 6.2(3)E4.
Next, I'm reboot IDSM-2 module and receive:"000133: Sep 7 15:10:18.622 MSK/MDD: %HA_EM-6-LOG: Mandatory.go_bootup.tcl: GOLD EEM TCL policy for boot up diagnostic000134: Sep 7 15:10:18.290 MSK/MDD: %DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 4: Online Diagnostics detected a Major Error. I would try re-imaging the sensor once more using the IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.bin.gz System Recovery Image file found here, following the procedure described here. If the module still fails to boot after that (still citing a Diagnostic Failure), try moving it to another slot in the chassis (if possible).
What color is the IDSM-2 Status LED (on front of module) when it is in this state? An RMA may be necessary to resolve this.
