If User & Master Password are the same you're locked out of bios
I have a x60s, still under warranty. I upgraded to a 500Gb hdd and I wanted to clear my hdd password on my old drive to reuse it. The bios won't let me since it sees me as a user not a s a supervisor. The passwords are the same. With other brands I never had this problem. I have now an Error 176 and cannot enter my supervisor password since it sees me as user.
Is there a workaround how to tell the bios that I am not user but master?
I live on a small island in the south caribbean so walking into a lenovo service center means buying a ticket to the US.
The master password doesn't prevent you from entering bios, the supervisor password does.
Disconnecting the bios battery will provoke the SV password to be required. You need to either remember that password, or find it out from whoever set it, before you can progress further. Another option is to contact support.

My email password and my verizon account password are the same? Are you SERIOUS?
The other day I did something I never do, actually log into my verizon account. I hate the verizon interface, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than use it, but every now and then I have to use it to handle a bill. So, of course the password that I remembered setting on it didn't work. So I jumped through the hoops to reset the password, conducted my business, and left the site, hopefully not to return for a year at least.
Lo and behold, the next time I tried to access my email (which I use Thunderbird for, and don't tell me it's not a supported client, it works fine, and no I'm not going to use Verizon's webmail interface), it won't accept my email password. Now, this password HAD always been distinct from my verizon account password. But...telling myself, "Oh no they didn't," I tried using the new password that I'd set for my online account. Surprise! It let me into my email!
Now, this morning, neither the new password nor my old email password are being accepted.
So, I have two questions, apart from the existential "why does Verizon feel the need to torture its customers like this":
1)Are they SERIOUSLY requiring you to have the SAME password for your email AND your My Verizon Account?
2)If, as I hope and pray, the answer to 1 is "hellz no", how can I change just my EMAIL password?
Anticipating a reply of, "No, it's just one password, because we've decided that's MORE secure, and your whole problem is that you're using Thunderbird, because ummmm somehow Thunderbird renders passwords into ancient Greek before it submits them and so it won't work, but of course some dull-normal client like Outlook WILL work, and don't ask me the details because I'm really not very technical, but apparently I'm technical enough to tell you that your client is no good"...Yes, the passwords are the same now. Verizon made a big push a while back to give customers a single login. They merged everyone's accounts, not because it is more secure, but because they think customers will find it easier. No, there is no way to change just your email password.
And no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using Thunderbird. Many of us have it configured for verizon.net addresses, and it works just fine.

IBooks app thinks my two user created textbooks are the same!
iBooks app thinks my two user created textbooks are the same file. Whichever I load first works just fine, but when I try to load the second, nothing happens and then my first book opens up again. I use drop copy to move files onto my class' iPads (20 of them), but I have to uninstall the first book in order to load the second. This only happens with my two textbooks. Other user created books work fine.
My semester has already started and I'm not able to put my content into their hands. Please help!!Thank God somebody figured it out! This was driving me nuts. But I have to say this is a pretty stupid way to address the problem...I have a client that produces iBooks for corporate clients, customizing the book for each one. Having to start from scratch every time, then copy and paste all the content in to a new instance of the template is really, REALLY stupid. There should be some field you fill in within the U/I that would allow you to specify the name of the book, so that the iBooks app would know if it's a new rev of an existing book, or a new book altogether. Kinda brain dead the way they do it now.

We are getting the following error on our SMA web service machine in the mgmtsvc-adminapi log file. Im guessing I could have also posted this in the WAP forum. Any ideas on what would cause this?
Also, we noticed the connection strings in the adminapi site are encrypted as well so not sure what the credentials are that WAP adminapi is using.

Thanks LanceJust had this error happen again. THis is the account that microsoft configured during the WAP portal install. The connection strings in the web.config for the adminapi site is encrypted so you cant see the credentials.
The WAP install didnt create local computer user but does create SQL Auth user with the name of MgmtSvc-AdminAPI

I am trying to access a forum for which you need a username and password but it keeps telling me the username/password i've entered are incorrect. Bizarrely, when I enter the same username/password combination on my iPad, it grants access without any problem.
What could be causing this, is it an issue with cookies, caches or similar. How can I resolve it? The forum administrator is at a loss as to what the problem is.Try the following steps in Safari to see if they help:
1) First try clearing the Safari cache. To do this pull down the Safari menu and select 'Empty cache...', then try logging into the site again.
2) If the issue continues then reset Safari by pulling down the Safari menu and select'Reset Safari...'. You will be presented with a list of items that can be reset. I suggest selecting the 'Reset saved names and passwords', and 'Remove all website data' options at a minimum.
Here is a list of the options and what they do. I pulled it from the Safari help page.
Clear history:
Clears the list of webpages you viewed.
Reset Top Sites:
Clears any changes you made to Top Sites, such as adding or pinning sites. If you also clear your history, your Top Sites page reverts to showing the webpage previews displayed when you first installed Safari.
Remove all webpage preview images:
Clears any thumbnail images Safari saved of webpages you viewed.
Clear the Downloads window:
Clears the list of files you downloaded from websites. Only the names are removed; the files themselves are still on your disk until you remove them.
Remove all website icons:
Removes website icons, which are small graphics that help identify sites on the Internet. You see them in the Safari address field and bookmarks list, and other places. These icons are stored on your computer.
Remove saved names and passwords:

Close all Safari windows:

Removes cookies, tracking information, and other data that websites stored on your computer. -
How do you reset the iPad if you've forgotten the master password and threw out the gift reciept?
Contact the person that gave it to you. See if they have a receipt.
Apple doesn't use the term master password.
There are two different locking mechanisms: passcode, prevents access to your data, and activation lock, prevents use of device if stolen. You do not want the students setting the activation lock.
If the passcode is set & forgotten , you can reload from backup or wipe ( first typed whip ) the device.
iPhone or iPad locked from incorrect passcode.
If you enter the wrong passcode six or more times, you'll see a message that says Ipad is disabled.

The problem arises when someone sets the activation lock which is set by logging onto your apple id then setting the appropriate option. DEP is the preferred preventative. It established your organization as the owner. The student cannot set an activation log.

JimSync will ask for your Master Password on each device when it tries to sync. As long as your MP is unlocked, Sync will behave just as if there was no MP; passwords will be synced to make your devices appear the same.
If you wish to replace the contents of one device with those of another, take a look in Sync Options (when you set up), or choose Reset Sync in Sync Preferences. -

What you are describing, " Multiple simultaneous logins to a single computer" is not avialable on a regular Mac of any description, unless you decide to use Unix tools instead of Mac OS X.
Server will happily store files for many, many users and provide them to multiple (up to hundreds) of computers at "near hard Drive" speeds over Gigabit Ethernet. It can make the File Sharing part easy. -
My email (sign-in) and password for iTunes is different than my email (sign-in) and password for iCloud. How do I change my sign in and password so they are the same for both iTunes and iCloud without losing my iTunes content?

Multiple users\passwords on the same website with Safari
Coming over from Netscape for MAC to Safari.
Here is the issue-- In Netscape I was able to have multiple users/passwords for the same website page. Netscape controls its users/passwords; not the keychain. With Safari everytime I try to enter the second user/password this wipes out the first user and password.
Is there a way with Safari to have mutlple users/passwords for the same website page?

Password cache - for user identity that share the same application server
I have different user identity that share the same application server passwords.
When I create a password cache entry for an an application server I have to be specified the User identity for the application server. Is there a way to indicate multiple User identity in order to avoid to create different entry (one for each user identity)?No. An SGD user can only have a single username for an application server.
There may be a way to craft a solution:
- create several ENS application server objects pointing to the same real application server
- cache different usernames against each ENS application server
- create multiple, identical application objects, assigning a different application server to each, OR
- create a single application object and assign all the ENS servers to it, along with the "SGD Broker" for dynamic launch. -
My iPhone has two identical options under "iTunes wi-fi sync" that are the same computer. I only have one user on my computer, and I tried moving my iTunes file in Finder to organize it and now my library's not synced with my phone. Help?
I have the same problem. Right now my iPhone 5S shows 3 instances of the computer to which it is connected under Settings » General » iTunes WiFi Sync. I'm having problems connecting and syncing, and this is probably the cause: the phone chooses one of these connections, and it isn't the one that's actually in use. What's probably happening is that the phone and computer establish a connection using a dynamic IP address, the address becomes "disassociated" due to error, another address is associated, the phone retains each address/link, and each link is displayed as if it represents a separate computer (the fact that the name of the computer is identical is ignored, as the only thing that is considered important is the IP address). But that's all conjecture. More important, I'm not sure how to fix the problem. A network reset doesn't do it.

many times I drop a photo into a book page box and it resizes it. I want to scale it smaller but it only allows me to make it bigger. Why can't I slide to make it smaller?
