If we don't use SAP campus management

Dear experts,
We want to implement ECC and CRM in the Higher Education Industry. Our client has already a Student Management System (not SAP) and doesn't want to change it now.
We want to use SAP for billing, instalment plans and debt management (- btw, not only for that). Which SAP modules should we use for that and which object should we configure if we don't use Campus Management?
Could we create a business agreement /contract in CRM with students courses as products? Or could we use service order?

You could certainly do a standalone SAP student accounting implementation which interfaces with the legacy student system. This approach has actually been done before at other insitutitions, including those that choose to implement Student Accounting prior to implementing the rest of Student Lifecycle Management.
Student Accounting would handle all of the billing, collections, payments, installment plans, etc. It is based on FI-CA (Contract Accounting). The biggest question is whether tuition fees would be calculated in SAP or in the existing system.
I would not see CRM as a necessary component at all for student accounting, but you might have other uses for it (such as recruitment).

Hi Ayse,
Diego is right but you have to define your modules as internship.
In Module Data Tab page, use module category as Internship. Configure Module category in IMG>> Master Data>>Academic structure>>Modules>>Define Categories.

Error while using SAP download manager

Hi,
When we try to download patches using SAP download manager to download patches, I get the error below:
The basket content could not be read. The following exception occured:
Unable to read data form teh SAP Service Marketplace. Check your settings and try again.
I have entered all the required information i.e. s-user id, password, proxy details etc in the 'download manager configuration.'
Kindly let me know how to proceed forward.

I think, by now your DM must be working, but just for info.
Please check SAP Service Marketplace Address , it should be , http://service.sap.com/ and not https:.

The above given SAP notes are very useful , which can be used to analyze the issue and also gives steps to generate the trace of the Download Manager which points to the issue. I resolved my DM issue with the above SAP notes.
Steps mentioned in the SAP note 401196 - Download Manager: Proxy configuration problems to trace out the issue:
Open a command prompt.
CD to the directory where you installed the Download Manager.
At the prompt, type "java -Djavax.net.debug=all -jar DLManager.jar dlmanager.Application".
The Download Manager will be started. You are able to see detailed debugging information in the command prompt window. Note that it is also possible to write this output to a file.
Do let the forum know if your issue is resolved or not.

I have found a note from 2010 stating that this functionality has been submitted as a enhancement. My question is, has this feature been implemented yet? SAP Campus Management Issues

Hi all,
We are facing the following problems:
A. We have different programs of study. However, these can contain a common module. For example, MBCE-701 can be a part of MBA Power Management as well as MBA Oil & Gas. While the module may be the same, it is appraised by different people. While doing the module appraisal, the list of students displayed is of all the students who have booked the module. Is there any way of limiting this list by pogram of study?
B. Is it possible to import final student grades into the Module appraisal from an Excel file? For example, if I have all results in Excel, can I import these into the SAP system through some process?

Continuing with the thread, it would be good if you have separate modules(SM) for different programs of study (SC).Taking your example, SC MBA Power Management as well as MBA Oil & Gas might have the same SM. However there is a very high possibility that the features of the SM for different SCs are different. As you have stated one would be the appraisers. Other differences would be the credits and for all you know even if the features are the same, the university may decide to change the name of the SM for one SC in future. In such a case you can address the issue better if you have separate SMs.You need to look at the various possibilities that would arise in the long run.
Coming to grading, upgrading the grades seems to be a wonderful idea. But on careful consideration, if you look at it, upgrading involves twice the work as entering data directly into PIQSMFU or using the interface. In uploading you have to first make entries in an Excel file and then do another action of uploading. Since we dont have the uploading feature, you will have to create probably an ABAP program. On the other hand direct entry into PIQSMFU is a one time activity. The university has only to figure out the authorization part.
Do revert if you find a better solution since the scenario while you are working at the clients site might be completely different and complicated than the theory which we are propagating.

There are the 'ASAP Implementaion Roadmaps' wheras the latest available
is the 'ASAP Methodology for Implementation 7.0' Roadmap, and there are
the 'Upgrade Roadmaps' wheras teh lastest one of them is:
'Upgrade Roadmap (V3.2)'.
If you are on ST-ICO 150 SP24 both of these Roadmaps
should be available in your system.
There are two ways to display the roadmaps in RMMAIN.
One is to choose a project in RMMAIN, then the roadmap assigned to
the project in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN is displayed.
The other one is to display any available roadmap in the system
To display one of the available roadmaps (without a project) choose
the button 'Other Roadmap' in RMMAIN and in the upcomming popup
hit the button 'No Project'.
After that you should get an addtional button besides the Project
button called Roadmaps (Other Roadmap).
When you hit now this button you will get a list of all available
roadmaps.

How to access SMP if I don't use SAP product but only MaxDB?

I am sorry if this is answered elsewhere, I am a MaxDB user and our company operates a website with MaxDB as the data engine behind it since 2003. Recently I am evaluating if we can use synchronization to scale out, however I hit road blocks when I research information and most are on SMP which requires a login. How can I get access there ?

the SAP Service Marketplace is for SAP customers only.
Anyhow, especially for MaxDB there are many information available for public use.
There's the [WIKI|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/maxdb/main] and the [MaxDB Website|http://maxdb.sap.com/] that includes online searchable documentation, as well as trainings materials and presentations from the MaxDB events.
A good starting point is always the [MaxDB Homepage here in SDN|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb].
If you don't find your questions answered with these options, you can always post your question here to the forum.
Anyhow, what information did you want to look up and only find them in the SAP notes on SMP?
Especially if you're an "Open Source"-MaxDB user, most of the available documentation is already made accessible via the resources I mentioned.

Usage of SAP Event Management as backend for custom mobile applications

Hi,
I'm am looking for an appropriate implementation approach for custom mobile applications as complement for warehouse processes with SAP Extended Warehouse Management.
Possible scenarios:
i) Goods issue - loading process
There are requirements like capturing of various data about the vehicle and load per RF handheld computer. The goal is to trace and archive them for analysis and reporting purposes.
ii) Goods receipt -production process
The production supply and goods receipt from production are realized in SAP EWM. The request is to collect data about the production process for quality reasons by use of RF devices.
You can picture oneself the additional mobile data entry activities during the various processes as predefined question catalogues with answer options.
The frontend - the additional mobile transactions can be realized with the EWM-Radio-Frequency-Framework, too. But I feel confindent that there is a better way to track, trace, store, analyse, report and archiv of the collected data to Y-TABLES.
Would you recommend to use SAP Event Management for this purpose to complement the SAP EWM processes?
The existing requirements as described above is in my understanding only a little fraction of the capabilities of SAP Event Management. The data collection and evaluation process is local within the warehouse. At first there is not requested any automatic system behaviour to particular events...
There are a lot material and information about SAP Event Management. But I havent found an easy getting started for my simple business scenario to enhance the EWM processes with the EM capabilities. How I could realize a question/anwer catalogue with the EM tools?

principally the process would fit for EM. But EWM is not integrated up to now to EM i.e. you would have to do the connection from EWM to EM by your own.

On Demand attachment download issue in SAP Work Manager 6.0

While we tried to download the attachment, the download request was sent to SAP
We checked through Push Instance monitor in Syclo Admin panel, a push request was there for scenario ID SM60_DMS_DOCUMENT_PUSH with status PROCESS. Status was set to NEW under Subscriber view tab of this push request.
We checked following things:
1. Push was enabled for Agentry Server in JavaBE.ini
2. Port 8282 was maintained in outbound trigger settings & in Agentry.ini configurations. This port is only used by Agentry Server.
3. SCC displays the error for the WorkManager application as XFailedToSendResponse: 9,1,16, smp_mobile

Upgrade to SAP Solution Manager 3.2 to 7.0 EHP

At present I am using SAP Solution manager 3.2. Now I am planing to update SAP Solution Manager 7.0.

EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
all RFC connections will need to be adapted
There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade
