Yes. Apple needs to create and maintain those separately and has chosen to charge separately.

  • If I buy numbers for my macbook pro do I have to buy it again for my macbook air?

I'm soon going to working on two apple laptops and I loveeee the concept that true Icloud my work automatically is accessible on all my devices in with the latest changes I made. However for me its a bit unclear if I have to buy keynote, numbers, pages, again for my coming new 2nd laptop. Can anyone tell me this??

You only have to buy it once. According to the Terms of Use, you may install an app on as many Macs as you own or have in your control. Once you buy it an install it on one Mac, open the App Store app on the other Mac, go to the Purchases pane and download it again.

  • If I buy numbers for my iPad will it show up on my iPhone?

If I buy numbers for my iPad will it show up on my iPhone or do I have to buy another copt for my iPhone?

    Hi ed,
To my understanding, apps purchased from the app store carry a licence that allow installation on any compatible device you own, and that uses the same Apple id. It may not automatically show up on those devices, but will be in the list of apps you have purchased, and may be downloaded from there.

PS: A better place to ask questions concerning the iOS versions of Numbers, Pages and Keynote would be the iWork for iOS community. You might want to repost your question there (and bookmark the location for future reference).

I read twice your question before posting.
Yes, you may put *_Numbers for iPad_* on your iMac.
At this time, I have 507 items in the "Mobile Applications" available on my iMac's HD.
I grabbed them for the iPad which my wife plan to buy when iPad 2 will be available.
But putting *_Numbers for iPad_* on the iMac doesn't mean that you will be able to use it on this machine (except if you install the developer tools with the iphone emulator).

  • If I already have iWork suite on my iPad, do I need to buy another for my MacBook Pro?

If I already have iWork suite on my iPad, do I need to buy another for my MacBook Pro, can i transfer to my new acbook pro?

The Mac version is a separate version from the iOS version and has top be paid for separately.
If you buy it from the Mac App Store (MAS) however it is quite cheap and can be installed on all your computers that use the same Apple ID.

  • Cannot update my keynote, pages and numbers from my ipad. I have different accounts, one for app store and other for icloud. What can I do?

You can't merge accounts or transfer iTunes purchases from one Apple ID to another: but there is no problem about using two IDs.
Use your iCloud ID for iCloud for syncing email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and PhotoStream.
Use your other Apple ID as before for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match.
There's no conflict about doing this, and you won't even notice as Keychain will log you in with the correct ID in each case. It's also better security not to have your iTunes login also your email address, given the number of complaints about hacked iTunes accounts.

if i buy numbers for my Mac mini can i put it on my pad

You will need to Purchase the iPad Version.
The Mac uses the OS X platform and the iPad uses the iOS platform.
    They are not interchangeable

  • TS4036 your ipad's settings have been restored. Your purchased apps and media will now be automatically downloaded

Upon moving to a new IPad after cracking an older one, the restore was in the works and the following message was displayed on the screen:
Your ipad's settings have been restored. Your purchased apps and media will now be automatically downloaded
Unfortunately, there is no touch screen ability.  The message won't allow us to click OK and we can't turn off the iPad to reboot it because that would require a slide to confirm.
How do we go about resetting it to the point that the touch screen works again?

    Try a Reset...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • HT4623 What if your ipad doesn't have the softwear update bar on it in the genral settings... How do you update from he 4.3.3 version??

I really do not understand how to update my ipad i still have the4.3.3 version. How do i update it to the ios 6?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • If I buy Numbers for my iMac (OSX), do I have to buy Numbers for IOS separately?

I see that Numbers for OS X is $19.99 and for IOS is $9.99. In order to share Numbers files through iCloud on all my devices, do I have to buy both?
    Thanks

Yes. They are two different hardware platforms and different programming languages. One cannot run on the other any more than Office for Windows can run on a Mac.

  • Is there any way to buy Numbers for OSX 10.8 now?

I can't upgrade to Mavricks yet because of issues with Junipers VPN client. Trying to buy Numbers via the appstore but it says it requires 10.9. Is there any way to buy the version from last week?

You will need to buy the retail box from a third party such as Amazon.com or eBay. Be sure to run Software Update after installing & before running any of the applications. You can also download the standalone updater from this page.

  • Why won't cells autopopulate when using numbers on the ipad? Anyone have a fix? Have also created a dropdown menu, but that does not translate from excel to numbers either.

Glad you got it sorted out.

  • If I buy iwork for my macbook, do I have to buy it in addition for the ipad2 ?

I am trying to make the transition from PC to Mac and thus will be buying both, a macbook and an ipad2. Id like to know if I would I thus have to buy applications like iwork , for both macbook and ipad ? Thats a double expenditure.

Yes, you'll have to buy it twice.  Even then, it's still cheaper than one copy of Office, and having bought it, you can then install it on as many Macs or iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches) as you own.

  • How do i get free keynote, pages, numbers for my Macbook Pro 15inch?

Hi i would like to check whether i am able to get any free keynote, pages, numbers on my Macbook Pro 15inch. I bought my macbook on 25th Nov 12. My version is updated to OS X Maverick.

For software discs, there are two cases:
    a) came with 10.6. In this case order the replacement DVD from Apple.
    b) came with 10.7. In this case there may be no replacement discs. Start up with Command-R and install 10.7 from the Internet.
This varies slightly depending on EXACTLY which model you have.
