I could not find anything about this so I'm posting it for others, seeing as it took me a day to figure out!
I set up a wired Bellsouth Ethernet Mini running 10.4 for internet sharing. I had a MacBook laptop to share the connection. The laptop worked with mail but Safari would not load web pages. It took all day but I realized that the laptop was not getting the DNS from the Mini.
I found out the DNS numbers for Bellsouth and entered them (on the laptop) in the Airport TCP/IP box in Sys. Pref, Networking, "Show Airport" TCP/IP DNS box: 205.152.144.23. I'm told that 8.8.8.8 will also work (Google's public DNS server) but I have not tried it on the laptop but it worked with my iPhone.
As soon as I put those numbers in there Safari sprang to life (on both laptop and iPhone) and worked great.
I don't know why the Mini did not "share" the Bellsouth DNS address with the laptop. I hope this helps someone save a day of hair-pulling and frustration!

I understand that since upgrading your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to Mac OS X 10.10.4 you have been unable to print colour photos wirelessly from your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer. To be honest, it does sound like Mac may have loaded the generic Apple Airprint driver on your printer rather then the HP Full Feature Software and Driver package. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected and not the Airprint driver.
  6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.  Once your printer has been installed with the correct HP driver, please test printing a colour photo to confirm that the issue has been resolved. How can I print web pages with HP psc 2175 printer?

Hi,
I'm having difficulty printing web pages with my HP psc 2175 printer. The printer spits out many pages before the actual page I want printed and then at times it doesn't print all of the section desired.
In fact, when I copied one page the other day, saved it as a pdf file to my computer, opened the file and the document still would not print.
Anyone have any idea what could be happening?

I have a strange issue - I am also using HP Envy 100 410A and its prints fine from iPad2. But when I try to print from my Gen 1 iPad, it goes thru the motions (shows the printer, allows to select which pages to print, double sided print etc.) but the printing actually doesn't hapen.

I can scroll down web pages with my Lenovo ThinkPad X200. I could, but then I got some updates and it doesn't work. I can scroll fine with an external mouse. I just can't use the "scroll controls" on my laptop. Any ideas why? It's frustrating!

When I got my machine two years ago and loaded Firefox, I could scroll with the red button that's on the keyboard of the Lenovo ThinkPad x200. Then, a few months ago, Firefox was updated. Not sure which version. And, now I can't scroll. The keypad scroll works in MS Windows programs. It just doesn't work in Firefox. I can't get anywhere with the options so I'm stuck for now. (The scrolling works in Internet Explorer). So, I think it's something that going on with FireFox not with my computer.

In general, you are correct - but also your server does need to be properly configured (and those errors above lead me to think it may not be) to serve the file types that your uploading - but it could be something else entirely. Can you zip up your composition folder, upload it to your Creative Cloud files, set it to share, and then post a link here so I can download it? If you'd rather not share it publicly, can you PM me with a link to your composition files?

How can I get web page to retain button count values

Hi,
I have a button which, each time it is pressed increments a
number. The number is shown in a text box. This all works fine, on
my web page. However if I close the web page and then reopen it,
the count number goes back to zero. How can I keep the number it
was (eg 10) and keep incrementing it ?
I have the button on Frame 1 and the text box on Frame 2.

You will need to use Shared Object to store the info on user
drive.
It is Flash's native form of cookies and works locally (from
exe projector)
as well as in browser.

Can not get web page all of the way out to edge of computer screen tried to drag but did not work

just got a new computer ..when i go to a web page the page does not go all of the way out to the side of the screen...i tried to grab and drag it but it did not work...i am new to this computer thing...need help

I just had that problem today and although it unfortunately probably won't help you minus47, (as you said disabling your Add-ons didn't help) I tracked my problem down to 'Fierr' as the culprit and disabling it fixed it.
To be honest I don't know why as 'Fierr' hasn't been updated since January '11 and Firefox only started playing up today.
The only other thing I updated today was Flash Player but I'm not sure if I installed it before it started playing up though.
Hopefully this might help someone else.

I cannot open PDF links in Firefox. However, I can open those same links with Internet Explorer. This failure has happened since downloading FF 4.0. What did that "upgrade" change so that these PDF links do not open?

I use TD Waterhouse Webbroker, which has links to PDF documents. These links have always opened - that is until I "upgraded" to the latest Firefox version (I think it's 4.0). Now those same PDFs do not open. I cross-checked with the arch enemy, Internet Explorer. Those same PDFs opened in Internet Explorer. So Firefox, what did you do in the latest "upgrade" that has altered the way the browser handles PDF files on Webbroker??

Hi tlaclair, when I click that link, here is what I see (observed using the Fiddler2 program, which intercepts web traffic between your browser and websites):
(1) The server at link.p0.com sets 1 cookie and redirects to http://t.mookie1.com/t/v1/event?migClientId=181&migAction=email-click&migSource=mig&migDest=http%3a%2f%2forder.dominos.com
(2) Firefox follows the redirect and the server at t.mookie1.com sets 3 cookies and redirects to http://order.dominos.com
(3) Firefox follows the redirect and the server at order.dominos.com redirects to a secure session ([https://order.dominos.com/])
These kinds of redirects are completely standard; if you set Firefox to warn you about redirects, then a bar usually appear below the address where you can click an Allow button to continue. You can check whether you have this feature turned on here:

If Firefox isn't blocking the redirect, it's possible that one of your add-ons is doing it. A standard diagnostic for interference by add-ons is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using

If the link works correctly, this points to one of your add-ons or custom settings as the problem.

Even though I make the variable as public /public static, I could get the value till the end of the run method only. Thread externally in a class or in a method. I presume you mean a member variable of the thread class and not a local variable inside the run() method.

I find it easier to implement the Runnable interface rather than extending a thread. This allows your class to extend another class (ie if you extend thread you can't extend something else, but if you implement Runnable you have the ability to inherit from something). Here's how I would write it:

Your main thread continues to run after the sathr thread is completed, consequently the output is done before the sathr thread has modified the string. You need to make the main thread pause, this will allow sathr time to run to the point where it will modify the string and then you can print it out. Another way would be to lock the object using a synchronized block to stop the main thread accessing the string until the sathr has finished with it.

Can't add web page to existing document

I am new to Acrobat 9 Pro (running on Win7). I love the feature where you can convert a web page to pdf and then add a wab page to an existing document. My probelm is that I saved one page as a pdf then went to a different link on that website that appears very similar and tried to add that page to the first one. As many times as I tried, my second page will not appear.
I did try going to an entirely different website and adding a page to the very same document and I was successful.
Is it possible that the program won't add the similar page because it is recognizing the page to be the same? Is there a setting to override this? I need to be able to save multiple web pages that appear the same way to one document quickly and easily.

Thank you for your response. It is possible to do this but I need the 'Add web page to existing doc' feature to work for me. I will be converting a large number of similar pages to pdf and this feature would be perfect if it worked as it is intended. Going back later to insert pages is counter-productive for me.

If you can't get web pages with internet sharing, do this.
