If you can't get your Iphone to sync or show up in itunes look here!!!!!!!

FOUND THE ANSWER!!
Apparently when you plug your iPhone in to your computer, Windows will "sometimes" install the drivers as a camera, putting them in the wrong place. This is why it will pop up in Windows so you can take photos off, but iTunes can't see it. SO, what you have to do is move the driver file (USBAAPL.SYS) to the correct location. Follow the directions I found below & your iTunes should be fixed (worked for me):
What works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:
1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in
and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really
matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).
2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:
o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)
o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).
o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!
You should find the driver info in a sub folder of
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7 507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B
Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder
name into note pad – you’ll need it later)
If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not
been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.
3. Locate the ipod-camera device:
o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >
Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager
o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as
‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.
4. Update the driver:
o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on
‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.
o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’
o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check
‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.
In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder
containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example
above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7 507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B),
then click Next.
You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue
installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come
to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.
If for some reason this doesn't work, try downloading the file here:
http://www.runscanner.net/files/sys...sbaapl.sys.aspx
And putting it here:
C:\ WINDOWS\ system32\ drivers\ usbaapl.sys

It's still not working. I went through every step and still can't get my Iphone to show up on my itunes.
Though I did find that the USB driver is not listed under any devices...

how do you manage photos if you lose the computer your iphone was synced with?

Are you talking about photos that were synced to your phone? If so, the photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to extract these photos from your phone, you'll have to use third-party software to do so. Note: photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on your phone, there is no way to recover their full resolution.

not sure if this is a permanent fix but, ever since upgrading to itunes 11.3.1, my iphone5 seems to finish syncing on its own, now. didn't seem to be a problem anymore. at least after doing only one sync, since the upgrade.
(stiil have a blank "purchased" page at itunes store, though).

  • How can I get my iPhone to sync it's contents to a new PC?

My computer completely crashed, so I was unable to remove anything from it.
How can I get the contents (music, apps, etc) from my iPhone 4 to my new PC??

Do you not have any computer service providers around your area to do a simple data transfer for you? would be easier for you to do that.
    You can try this too:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/29/sync-iphone-new-computer-without-losing-data/
Make sure you sign in iTunes and authorize the computer first. Then connect the iPhone,(cancel the sync),right click on your iPhone's icon in iTunes and select "Transfer purchases".
This way your apps/books will be synced with your new PC.

  • Can't get my Iphone to sync it can't find the drive?

My Iphine goes into a loop and says it can't find the required drive.

Your iTunes or your iPhone? if its iTunes; your itunes is trying to sync a file from a network/external drive that is not available. Check your stuff and try to sync again.
    If its the phone itself:
    1. Ensure iTunes is closed & iPhone is disconnected but keep USB cable connected to iPhone
    2. hold down CTRL + SHIFT on your keyboard
    3. connect USB cable to PC and wait. If iTunes doesn't start for a minute then start it (keeping hold of CTRL + SHIFT)
    4. if it wont let you start iTunes or all your icons are selected then release CTRL + SHIFT
    5. when iTunes starts it may ask you about safe mode or something similar, say yes
    6. Your iPhone should list as a device as normal, click sync.
    OR
1: The Cord you are using to connect the phone is messed up, borrow another one to test or buy a new one.
2: for some reason you have a faulty USB port. It may work with other items (HDD's, printers etc) but you will get the error when trying to use iTunes with that port. Choose another port.
    3. Also make sure you aren't using a stupid USB hub or cradle for this. plug in from phone to USB port directly on the computer.

  • How can I get my iPhone to sync with a new computer without being erased?

I was syncing my iPhone with my MacBook Pro, but I formatted the operating system and installed a new iTunes on my laptop. When I connect my iPhone to the laptop, iTunes wants to erase everything in order to start syncing. I want to start syncing with my laptop, not remove all the content already on my phone. I don't want to loose my apps, my contacts, bascially everything on my iPhone.
What can I do? I appreciate for your help
    Best!

See the excelent user tip by wjosten: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
In short, you can't. But, you can do it in a way that minimizes what information will be lost, if any.

  • How can I get my iphone to sync its address book with my mac?

I have iCloud configured to sync my address books, but they don't. I have all my contacts on my phone and want to be able to have them put onto my mac. I've never been able to figure this out. I used to have the sync address books setting selected (before iCloud), and it still never synced. I've read other discussions on this and have tried adding a contact to see if it prompts a message about merging contacts come up, but nothing seems to work. I have tried everything it seems. Any help?

You'll have to use Wi-Fi to sync, Bluetooth is not supported:
You can use iPhone with the Apple Wireless Keyboard and other Bluetooth devices, such as Bluetooth headsets, car kits, and stereo headphones. Third-party Bluetooth headphones may support volume and playback controls. See the documentation that came with your Bluetooth device. For supported Bluetooth profiles, go to support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
    From the manual: iphone_user_guide 5 page 109
Use iCloud to keep Contacts up to date on your iOS devices and computers
Go to Settings > iCloud, then turn on Contacts. See “iCloud” on page 17.

  • How to get iShuffle mp3s to sync or show up in iTunes in W2K?

Am using an iShuffle with Windows2000.  The latest version of iTunes that will install is v7.2.  v8 or higher insists I need a newer service pack, although I already have service pack 4 installed which is the newest version.
    1.  How do I access support 'express' if I dont know my serial number?  The iShuffle does not have a serial number written on it as the online helps says it should.  I have no idea where my original receipt or package went from years ago.  There really should be an option to continue to support without a serial number.
    2.  How do I get music already on an iShuffle to show up in iTunes?  iTunes says it cant find the playlist associated with the iShuffle and the only option it presents is to erase the iShuffle and start over, which is stupid.
    3.  Alternatively, how do I get music onto the iShuffle that already has music on it but there is no playlist?  How do I make a playlist out of the music that is already on the iSHuffle?
I dont see the point in the playlist- why cant I just drag and drop mp3s onto the iShuffle, preferably without iTunes?

  • If you can't get your new Shuffle to work..check this out

My computer is approx. 3-4 years old. After wasting lots of time troubleshooting why my computer wouldn't recogize my iPod, I finally called Apple. They said they thought I had a problem with my USB being too slow. I then called Radio Shack, and they told me the same thing. So I went and bought a new High Speed 2.0 USB ($25 from Radio Shack), and installed it. For the 1st time, the computer recognized the Shuffle! I downloaded the new iPod software, and the newest version of iTunes. I did not use the installation CD that came with the shuffle at all. I installed both programs which I downloaded, and it is working perfectly.
I just thought I'd share this as it may help save someone LOTS of grief and frustration.

I've already done this, to no avail............
