If you have no electricity for more than 8 hrs you have no phone with Fios

No one told me that when I gave up my copper line for FIOs that when the electricity goes off for more than eight hours I would have no phone service. Usually, if the electricity went off I would just plug in one of the old phones with a cord and still have access to telephone service. Not so with FIOs. Cell phone service in this area isn't reliable either, especially if there are too many people trying to call out at the same time. It is not a good product for someone who may need EMS service in a secluded area. If I had known this, I would have kept my DSL, FIOs is not any faster when others are on line using it.

Maybe you were not around for the installation of your FIOS when the installer put the battery backup in your garage. Note there is an emergency button on the battery backup that you can push to get an additional 5 hours of phone calls. In my case the welcome kit that I was given also provided directions on how to enable the extra 5 hours of phone support.
Also I've DSL speeds are typically in the 1-7 Mbit speed while my with a 384/768 upload. My Fios gives me consistent 20 megs down and 5 up which is way faster then DSL.

Do not open legal, just put the cursor there.
Then, on the remote, type this sequence : right - right - left - center.

There are many devs who still have NO access to ANY part of the developer website.
Apple is aware of this (a dev support person telephoned me last week) but, so far, there is no fix or work-around.
It may be true that the developer site has access for SOME subscribers; it is NOT true that everyone is able to get resources shown as "online" on the status page -- many of us have ZERO access.
So, when Apple says 'this week' you have to balance that with the FACT that their assessment of the current status, ie. everyone has limited access now, is wrong/untruthful.
Anyone who doubts this should simply look at other posts in this forum -- lots of folks can't get into the site -- just an infinite loop from login to grey linen maintenance page and back.

Can someone please share what is the pros and Cons of trusting AD domain for more than 10 different AD sites into my existing single domain forest let say ParentCompany.com ?
At the moment I only have one single forest AD domain with the Domain and Forest functionality Windows Server 2003. The main domain controller FSMO role holder is in the Data Center spread across three different VMs running on Windows Server 2008 R2.
The main/parent company has acquired smaller business chain of 15+ offices in which they have their own Domain Controller and also their own domain, sometimes they also got the same AD domain between them (no trust or whatsoever in those 15+ AD domain).
Sounds crazy but yes, there is no standardization in them or whoever manage their IT infrastructure previously.
I'm now considering what are the benefits of creating the AD domain and trust versus importing those AD objects into my domain and then decommission them.
No need to worry about Exchange Server since all of the user in those sites connecting to the RDS to my ParentCompany.com terminal servers.
My requirements or goal are as follows:
1. Simplify the AD domain structure & maintenance
2. Try to avoid the disruptions of the user in terms of downtime and selecting multiple different domain everytime they login to their PC or SharePoint sites.
any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I think you mean 10 AD domains.
Managing multiple domains can be difficult for administration. I usually recommend using a single domain in a single forest with OUs to separate resources whenever it is possible.
However, if you can't do that then you can simply create trust relationships between your domains. The advantage is that you can enable access to resources to different domains. I do not see cons here.

I would recommend consolidating your domains into a single one. ADMT is a migration tool that you can use. The advantage would be the ease of administration. Also, by having multiple DCs for the same domain across sites, you will take benefit of High Availability
of your and DRP.

Playing music through nano and auto stereo, while traveling...nano is set to shuffle, but if vehicle is stopped for more than a few minutes, nano restarts with same song everytime! How do I make it really shuffle the songs

Having trouble with Nano shuffle while traveling. It's connected to my vehicle stereo and set to shuffle. When I stop the vehicle for more than a few minutes, the music resumes with the same song it always starts with. How can I get it to keep shuffling after restarting the vehicle?

Is the iPod actually doing the music playing? If the iPod is connected using a USB port (on the car audio system) and docking cable, the car audio system is doing music playing. The iPod is just acting as a storage device (like a USB flash drive) with song files. So, in that setup, it does not matter whether the iPod is set to shuffle or not, because the car audio system is playing the songs. Any change to how it plays songs would have to be a setting on the car audio system.

I can hardly believe my old school Palm Pre was much friendlier than the IPhone. I have had it for more than six months and still cannot sync my Outlook calendars and contacts. I get a message like, "no calendar application identified." help!

I tunes did sync once or twice in the six months that I have had it, but more often it acts like it is syncing and ultimately delivers a message like "no calendar application is supported". Why the back and forth. Very frustrating after literally hours of trying to sync my phone with my Outlook calendar and contacts. HELP!!!!

What version of MS Office do you have installed? Have you tried re-installing office over top of itself? It may not be properly registered with the OS.

My daughter has an addiction to computer and I thought she couldn't get thru my FoxFilter, never thought there was something she could mess up on Firefox itself. Every time I start my computer it runs and runs, and takes forever for anything to download. I understand why. I just don't know how to fix it. As you know when you submit any request throigh concurrent manager . The request completed normal or give warning or error .
My probelm I have request running for more than one day .but I don't know right tool how invetigate about this issue .
I checked alert log and database lock but nothing wierd .
We are using 11.5.10.2 with 10.2.0.4 DB .

VERIZON CHANGED HIGH SPEED DSL AT CENTRAL OFFICE AFTER I HAD 7.840 MBPS FOR MORE THAN 10 MONTHS!!!

ALL OF THE SUDDEN VERIZON DECIDES IN LATE APRIL THAT I SHOULD HAVE 7.1 MBPS INSTEAD OF THE 7.840 MBPS I HAVE BEEN HAVING FOR MORE THAN 10 MONTHS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, AFTER A LOT OF DISCONNECTIONS SUFFERED IN MARCH/APRIL 2012 BECAUSE VERIZON WAS DOING SOMETHING IN THEIR CENTRAL OFFICE WITHOUT TELLING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND HAVING TO REPLACE ALL OF THE DSL FILTERS, AND TWO MODEMS... I GOT THE D-LINK WORKING AT 7.840 MBPS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, VERIZON TECHNICIAN CAME TO MY HOME AND WE DID INSTALL THE NEW MODEM AT THAT VERY SPEED, WHICH WAS AGREED MORE THAN 1 YEAR AGO AFTER DOING A LOT OF TESTING TO ENSURE THE STABILITY IN THE CONNECTION. ALL OF THE SUDDEN, AFTER THE 20-DAY HONEYMOON WITH MY NEW MODEM, I NOTICED THAT MY SPEED WAS NOT THE SAME, AND FOUND OUT THAT THE IP WAS CHANGED AND THE SPEED SETTING DROPPED TO 7.1 MBPS. Believe or not... That 20% does make a difference... In one of my games, I used to have 5.3 secs of response time, now it does not lower from 7.8. By the way, even my PC worked faster when I had that little higher speed... I know the changes were done without my knowledge because for a period of 2 weeks I got lot of unstability in my connection that I never got for years before... After 20 days with the first IP assigned to the new modem, the speed dropped like Verizon was running a program to levelize such an speed.
At the end, what really bothers me, is that the 7.840 Mbps was a speed agreed with Verizon, their technicians, their supervisors at the CO, and it was fully documented, and all of the sudden because an "internal change in their policies" that agreement was broken... I am currently making arrangements to have FIOS installed at home, subject to an scouting visit from Verizon to evaluate the feasibility of its installation according to my internal wiring limitations. I have to give them a try... No doubt that it would me cheaper and much faster than the high speed enhanced internet connection that I currently have. Let's wait and see...

I would like for you to put the device in Safe Mode http://bit.ly/OAXCYh and then check your email to see if it still turns off.
Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue.
I want you to try that to see if there is something else affecting why the phone battery goes low only when you check email.

Quota deduction when EE has been inactive for more than 180 days / Advance quota days when employee does not have enough balance

Dear experts,
We have two requirements regarding to the "Anual leave" quota.
1. Quota reduction when employee is inactive for more than 180 days
2. Advance quota days when employeee does not have enough balance
We have in place an "Anual Leave" quota related to a calendar year period, that gets generated dialy in time evaluation. This quota gets the employee entitlement from a set of rules that stored the corresponding balance in a period time type, that is the one that we defined in the customizing. This is working fine. The problems start when we try to incorporate the other two requirements.
Regarding the first requirement, if the employee has been inactive for more than 180 days in a calendar year due to unpaid leave, we need to start quota reduction as follow,
First, we need to clear the balance that was calculated above in the schema.
Then, we need to calculate one leave day for every 20 days worked till the end of the year, considering as such, everyday the employee is expected to work, except days on which the employee has been absent on unpaid leave.
For the second requirement we created a manual quota call "Advance Anual Leave". So, if the employee, wishes to take 20 working days holiday, but in his/her Anual Leave quota has only 10 days available, we have to create an "Advance Anual Leave" quota manualy for 10 days. When the quota for next year gets generated, we need to deduct these advanced 10 days from it. This deduction should stop the year after.
The problem we are finding with these two requirements is that, due to the Anual Leave quota gets generated dialy, we can't get the balance right.
