If you import a mp4 into FCPX will it stay an mp4?

I am editing dvds that have already been converted to mp4 in FCPX.  Will they stay mp4 as I am editing them?

No. DVDs should never be converted to MPEG-4, which is a delivery format and should not be used in production.

If the images aren't showing up in DW, why do you think they will show in Muse?  Obviously, something is wrong with the paths to those images.  And that will most likely be due to the underlying code.

  • Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work?

Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work? I have already spent many hours trying to create a photo album but came across more pictures to choose from. However, I don't know how to get these new pictures into the "list" of potential photos for the book in progress. I can't stand the thought of having to start over by selecting the 2000 photos plus these new ones and starting all over again!?!

I have found more pictures that I want to include. They are, say, in a folder on my desktop. I can't simply pull a picture (or the folder) from the desktop and insert it into the album or the list of potential pictures across the top.
to import into an existing book (which is just a special kind of album) simply drag the photos from their source (the desktop in your example) to the book in the source pane on the left (not to the book in the library window but the book icon in the source pane
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book
I also tried imported the pictures, from the desktop folder, into iphoto, creating new event. I don't think there is a way of accessing that new event from the album in work/progress.
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book in the source pane on the left
I also tried merging the new "event" into an existing event that I had selected for the album. That doesn't work either???
That is correct - there is no connection between the source of the book and the book - the book stands alone and you add direct to it in the source pane exactly as you would add to any other album

    What Tom said.
Or you may be able to import using a different program - try with Quicktime Player, "New Movie Recording". If the camera appears as an option, it should work.

  • How to import from dropbox into FCPX?

Hi, Can FCPX use shared disks or Dropbox folder for import?

Those transitions should exist inside a folder with the full Transition name. Inside the folder should exist another file with the Transition Name.motr (the file type .motr) plus a large.png and small.png and a Media folder. That is a complete transition "package" for FCPX.
That complete folder needs to be placed in:
your internal hard drive (root drive) / Users / YourUserFolder / Movies / Motion Templates / Transitions
Inside the Transitions folder will be other folders (unless you've never added any other transitions before, or added the supplemental content) -- they are all given "Category" names (e.g.: Stylized). You should either create a New Folder and give it a unique name (Friend's Transitions) or pick one of the existing folders and place the entire Transition folder inside (for each transition you have.)
Back in FCPX, your new transitions should be available in the Effects/Transitions browser under the Category you placed them.

  • Can you import Quicktime movies into Final Cut Pro X

I have a one week old Macbook Pro retina which replaces my old iMac 24 with Snow Leopard. After my purchase, I found out that Mountain Lion will not support FCE 4. The problem is that I have a lot of unfinished FCE projects and a lot of video clips that were imported using Final Cut Express 4 "Log and transfer" on my external drive. I was going to purchase Final Cut Pro X and edit them on  my new computer but first I was going to convert them to Quicktime videos. So my question is, can I open Ouicktime movies for editing in Final Cut Pro X? Or perhaps someone has aneasier way for me to achieve what I am trying to do.
    Thanks in advance........

all of the videos that I imported using "Log and transfer" will only open in FCE 4.
Do you mean the media in the capture scratch folder? These don't open in any other application? Not in the QuickTime player?
If you mean the FCE project files, that's correct they will only open FCE4 or FCP7.

  • How Do you import C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC

I just tried importing  Canon C100 footage into Premiere Pro CC, but get no sound. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I pray I don't have to convert this footage before bringing it in. Is there a workflow anyone can recommend? Do I have to convert the footage first? Thanks, Lucian

    Lucian,
PrPro should work natively with the Canon C100 footage ... it works with almost everything out there. And with the C100 shooting MP-4, AVCHD, & H.264, those are all handled easily by PrPro.
My question ... I would surmise (from what little info you include) you are shooting AVCHD? The reason I say this is that format splits audio & video into different files ... so it's a bit trickier to "import" than others that have the a & v in one file. Make sure you copied the whole top-leveL FOLDER and all sub-folders (not just the footage or contents of a folder) from the cam/card into the computer for AVCHD ... and then when you import into a project via the media browser your audio & video should be all connected by PrPro.
There have been numerous threads here where AVCHD users have "lost" their audio, only to find they'd simply left it behind by NOT copying all the folders & subfolders their camera had created.

  • Can you import local tables into Oracle to query in Discoverer?

long time lurker, first time poster...
I've got a local list in excel of over 100k records. I want to bounce this list off our network's data in Oracle to add a few fields to my file. Is there a way to import the local list into Oracle (like I might using MS Access) so that I can query the data using Discoverer, and output my local list with the additional data I pull out of Oracle? Thanks so much for any assistance!

    Hi,
Create an external table in the database that points to the excel workbook then you will be able to query the excel workbook like any other table in Discoverer. You will need to create a database directory which points to the directory containing the excel workbook. You will also have to save the workbook in a csv format. But once that is set up you will be able to make changes in the excel workbook save them, then refresh the Discoverer workbook and immediately see the changed data in Discoverer.

  • Can you import a Podcast into iMovie and get both video and audio?

I have iMovie 11 and Garage Band '11.  I created a podcast in Garage Band that I now would like to use in iMovie.  I would need the video and the audio to work.

You might be able to get it to work but I would not recommend it. You would need to export the Aperture slideshow as a QuickTime Movie using h.264 codec or Apple Intermediate Codec. You would need to make sure that the slideshow was on a timed advance, not manual advance. It would be a single clip, and not easy to insert transitions, etc.
The best way to import from Aperture would be to create an Album in Aperture containing all the photos you want in the order that you want. Then, you can drag the whole album into iMovie with one drag from the Photo browser in iMovie. You will want to drag the small icon for the album into the Project. You will have all your photos in order, but you can edit them individually and add transitions and titles.

  • How do you import a movie into itunes

I have a 4Gb avi film on my desktop and I would like to import it into Itunes. I go to "add to library" but unfotunately it does not seem to do it. Any answers?

iTunes doesn't play AVI (AVI is really an outdated Windows format). If you are lucky and the codecs used are ones supported by iTunes you can try re-wrapping it as .mp4 with MpegStreamclip, but you'll have to be very lucky since AVI can contain all kinds of unsupported codecs.

  • How do you import a package into Forte?

I'm attempting to use a Java package from http://www.braju.com that essentially implements the standard C functions printf / sprintf, as part of an exercise to convert a C program to Java.
I can go into a (gasp!) Windows ME DOS window, set my Classpath to include C:\java\classes (where I put the hb15.zip file), and following the directions on Henrik's website I can type:java com.braju.format.Format -helpand see it work- but when I try to compile with Forte, the line...import com.braju.format.*;causes it to say, "package com.braju.format does not exist."
I just installed the early release (version 3) of Forte, which has no problem with standard Java imports such as:import java.lang.Math;Does anybody know what the problem is?

    Hi.
I am using NetBeans 3.2 but I think it's pretty the same.
So here is how to set your classpath for your compiler :
    1) decide what you're using as a compiler : internal or external compiler
    2) go to main menu : Project - > Settings
    3) Expand "Compiler Types" node
    4) Select from here the compiler you're using (internal, external, fastjavac , etc )
    5) click on the "Expert" tab and you'll find a "classpath" field that must be editable
    6) append/add your location to the existing classpath
    Now it should work.
They may be some (GUI) differences between the Forte and NetBeans main menu, but I think you've got the idea.
    Regards,
    Rick
