If you *just* earned your MCTS certification, will it remain "active" after the MCTS title retires this year (on January 31, 2014)?

...Or will your transcript show your certification as "retired, "legacy", or "expired", etc?
(I'm particularly concerned about "MCTS: Windows Server 2008 - Active Directory Configuration").
My understanding is: the MCTS "title retirement" just means newcomers will need to pursue the MCSA (or MCSE) after January, but existing MCTS certifications will remain *active* until the product's "end of mainstream support" date (January
13, 2015 for the Windows Server 2008 product line)...
Is my understanding correct? -The above MCTS will officially retire (on our transcripts) on: January 13, 2015?
-Thank you.

Hi, Digital guy 001.
Your MCTS certification title will never retire. Instead, it may be marked as "Legacy" on your transcript but that will be several years from now (2023? guessing...)
When an exam retires, it will no longer be available to be passed at the testing center. As well, even if a title is no longer available, you keep it on your transcript for many years to come, until it is eventually marked "Legacy".
Yes - you are correct in that title retirement means that people cannot earn that title any more - usually because the exams have retired,
but not always. For example, exam 70-640 is not scheduled for retirement at all, but the related MCITP titles are retired and the MCTS title will retire at the end of the month. On February 1st, 2014, the 70-640 exam will only be helpful
for those wanting to earn the title: MCSA: Windows 2008.
The word "Expired" applies to your opportunity to earn a certification title based on a date.
The word "Inactive" is only applied to MCSD and MCSE certifications titles that have passed their recertification dates. MCSEs must recertify every three (3) years while MCSDs must recertify every two (2)
years. If you haven't recertified, the term "Inactive" will appear next to the title on your transcript.
Please keep the terms separated in your head:
Retired Exam (no longer available)
Retired Title (no longer achievable)
"Legacy" transcript certification title (really old)
"Inactive" transcript certification title (requiring recertification).
Good luck!
Best wishes, Davin Mickelson

Mozilla, like many other software companies, thoroughly test their software before releasing it to the public and I'm sure that no problem you are having is intentional.
I do not work for Mozilla but I do have experience of releasing software for public usage.
Firefox has no way of knowing what other software is already on your computer and with millions of combinations it isn't always possible to test for every scenario.
You can go back to the old version of Firefox but that won't always solve your problem.
The web site below tells you how:

  • What do you need to do to get your pictures back after you just restored your phone? it says "downloading" but wont give me any of my pictures back that i took awhile ago

what do you need to do to get your pictures that you took awhile ago back on your iphone 4s after you just restored your phone it? it says "downloading" but wont give me any of my pictures back that i took awhile ago. I backed everythign up at the apple store while the person who helped me watched me do it. i have 1,796 pictures i took before i restored my phone, but it wont let me see them. it just says "downoading" and i will be devestated if all of my pictures are gone. please help me!

You would have received a prompt telling you that you didn't have sufficient space to beck up your phone if that was the case.  Also, not everything on your phone is stored in the backup so you wouldn't need 11.7GB to back it up.  You can see the size of your backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your phone under Backups and look under Options.
If it says "downloading" it's probably still downloading your pictures from iCoud.  Check Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup at the bottom to see the status of the restore process.

  • Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there?

Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there? It does not give me a choice, it just says quit or upgrade? p.s. i didn't realise ther was  a way to back up my computer beforehand, which i am guessing this is time machine?

    1. No, you haven't.
    2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
    3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.

  • Hey apple, why don't you just fix your email forwarding?

There is a lot of problems described in this comunity about icloud email forwarding.
Personally I, spent a lot of time to make this fa***g email forwarding work. But it doesn't work.
I started yesterday, but only today morning I got an email from apple that it is enabled. But it doesn't work.
If it is not work properly - just disable it and people won't spend a lot time wondering it is work or not.
Also, I have tried to setup google POP3 "Check mail from other accounts" , but icloud mail doesn't support POP3 protocol.
So, apple, why don't you just fix your email forwarding? or disable it forever?

Does the iPhone 4s need a data plan inorder for "siri" to work or can you just use your local wifi?

It can use both in all the commercials they are using wifi im trying to find out just how much Siri depends on data but so far I think it mainly uses it to pull info up and for some reason to dictate email but it does work on carrier data I guess it's just slower  so you don't neccersarily need a data plan in place or have to dig into it to use Siri If you have wifi close by

Yosemite mail v8.0 not showing how many messages are in a mailbox. For example inbox. Before upgrading it used to show how many messages you had in your inbox. anyone know how to switch "on" the number of messages? Or has this feature been removed?

Agreed! This feature was very useful. If you find out how to turn it on, please let me know.
Apple, there is plenty of room in the window header all the way across on both sides of the word "Inbox". It's important to know many messages are in the Inbox. It provides a progress meter when you're cleaning out mail and striving for inbox zero.

Every time a query is sent to the MP, it receives 0x80072ee2 which translates to "The operation timed out". This has nothing to do with your MP or DP though so reinstalling them won't make any difference.
This error is indicative of network issues -- basically, the "client" is not getting a response back in a timely manner (and probably not at all). Assuming the MP is healthy though, then only other piece of the puzzle is the network.
You can try setting the SMSTSAssignmentsDownloadRetry and SMSTSAssignmentsDownloadInterval task sequence variables in the boot image to increase the client's tolerance for latency or other weirdness in the network. This has worked for many.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to break out a sniffer and watch the traffic to see what's going on at a network level.

  • My password manager will not remain active. It keeps going blank?

After the latest update, 35.0.1, Firefox dumped all my passwords and will not remain active in keeping passwords. I must keep checking the "Remember passwords for sites" box every time I use Firefox and enter a website. I will download version 36.0 now that it has just notified me.

    Hi steve579,
After downloading the update are you still seeing issues with the password manager?
Also please check to make sure that this does not happen in safe mode. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]

    Hi HT201407,

Whenever I try to activate my 4th generation iPod Touch bought today, via my home router (Asus) which has a good signal, I get the warning: "Your iPod Touch could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached." Very frustrating. When I try to activate it via iTunes on my HP laptop, it won't do it either. Very frustrated and unimpressed.

You are running into the activation lock.
iCloud: Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7
You have to either enter the Apple/iCloud ID and password in order to activate the iPod for use. Or you can try to dissassociate the iPod for that account by:

If you can't do that you have a nice, thin but expensive brick

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken.  If that is the case, no support can be provided here.
The other possible issue is a device running the iOS7 Beta.  If that is the case, and you are a developer, sign into the developers forums for assistance.  If that is the case and you are not a developer, try google.
