If you're ipod shuffle will not turn on....Try this!

Okay everyone after reading all your posts that were similar to mine I'm hoping that you can also use what woHope this helps others out there with the same issues.
Here's my problem....I've got an ipod shuffle that mysteriously stopped playing after being able to do so for several months.
Here's what I've done...All the reset, restore, recharge and blah blah blah....
I tunes recognizes the shuffle, my computer recognizes and blah blah blah...
when I disconect from the computer ipod will not play once turned on, battery light shows full charge, but ipod will not play...nor will the green light show up after switching to on position.
Thus far the only way I've found that will get this thing to play I will share with all of you in hopes to help and be helped. If this helps and are able to get past the point that I've been to please post or e-mail me directly [email protected] with subject line ipod help...
Steps 1: restore ipod. MAKE SURE IPOD IS IN THE ON POSITION (I did this step with shuffle on)
step 2: put songs on ipod.
step 3: In I-tunes use eject ipod function bottom right on I-tunes screen.
Step 4: Now here's the crucial part take ipod shuffle out of USB port.
Step 5: Turn off shuffle.
Step 6: Take headphone out of jack...I know weird, but it works time and time again on mine.
Step 7: Turn shuffle back on after 5 sec without headphones in...
Step 8: light should be solid if not, hold pause button down a little harder than normal until light stays solid for at least 30 sec.
Step 9: Plug headphones back in, press play. If light begins to flash green, press play again. Now it should play normally.
You may have to do this several times. Other things I've tried...while steady green try slowly putting headphones in until halfways, 75% of the way in...Then press play. Just fiddle with it. Eventually you'll get it. It's seriously weird, but it's working somewhat consistant for me now. I do have to do this process continously. Let me know if this works for you or let others know what worked for you.
Wait 30 sec- min...still no?...keep reading.

Step 9:

thank you so much.

first: why did you download the iOS Beta 8? If you are a developer, go to the Apple Developers website and check what they can do for your case.
second: setup an appointment to a Genius Bar for service.

  • Ipod touch will not turn on unless plugged in

My Ipod touch will not turn on, Ive plugged it in and it comes on it has a charge but as soon as I unplug it it goes black ... I have tried to restart it but there is just a black screen

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Ipod touch will not turn on and is not reading in the usb port

ipod touch will not turn on or connect to my computer

I just had a similar problem and tried all of the reboot techniques with no success. I knew it had to be a connection issue inside the iPod, and grasping at straws, I sprayed a little WD-40. I dried it off and let it sit overnight. Today at lunch I plugged it in to my wall charger and it began charging.
***FYI I know they don't recommend spraying WD-40 on your iPod, but it was a last resort for me. I was at the point of paying to send it in for repairs or throwing it away. I wouldn't try this unless you are ready to throw yours away too.

  • My ipod touch will not turn on, i pluged it up to my computer to charge but it wont charge. and plus its battery was already full. why wont it turn on??

So one day is was laying next to my ipod touch and i tried to turn it on but it wouldnt. so then i pluged it up to my computer to charge but it didnt charge, the computer didnt pick up the divice. so now my ipod touch will not turn on, and i have no idea why. PLEASE HELP.

mine did the same thing. What I did was hold the home and power button down for 10 seconds but that did not work. I figured out that I just had to hold them down for a long time like 15 to 45 seconds. Then it finally turned on. You may have to do it a couple of time. But if this does not work send it in to the apple company they fixed mine completly free they even sent me a box to send it in. I hope my answer helps you fix it.

Assuming you bought the song at the iTunes Store, you can go here
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
and follow one of the "paths" to get what you need or to an Apple customer support employee.  One path is to click Contact Support at the bottom of the list of choices, and use the Express Lane.
The iTunes app also has a way to report a problem with a purchase.  Select iTunes Store in the sidebar (of the iTunes window).  Toward the upper right corner, click on your Apple ID.  This gets you to your Account Information screen.  Find Purchase History and click See All.  On that screen, you can select a specific purchase with that problem, and Report a Problem.
If you want to try to figure out WHY that song does not play on your iPod shuffle, please post back...

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on.  I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen.  When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either.  I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged.  There is no way it could be dead.  It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer.  If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
    - Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recoverymode  will make the iPod visible.  For recovery mode see:

    Hi Selena1515,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the iPod Touch will not turn on and a button is not working. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

    thank you
    Kristy

Error 11 is a strange one...if you search the discussions for error 11 you will get a number of hits but none with a real resolution other than getting the iPod to restore, which you have done.  And one person indicates this does not appear in the support data base...already found that out.
If you have restored, have a backup and can restore from that, you might try the update again, or wait for the next update whenever that comes out.
Not a very satisfactory answer but if it is working again...

    Hi,
    Try a Reset
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
    Turn the iPod On...
