If you returned your MB for Superdrive/Combodrive repair did Apple fix it?

I received my box from Apple yesterday to return my Mackbook to repair the Superdrive......but now Im wondering if those that sent there Macbook back to Apple if the superdrive was properly repaired.
My problem:
I've gone through all my cd/dvd's and have found that they all work, however making a second pass 2 did not.
I zeroed out my hard drive and started the reinstall process Disc #1 was fine everything installed, the second disc #2 however did not (could not read disc).
So I repeated the process the process and everything installed.

Well...here goes.
I took it into the Apple Store once because the Superdrive was spitting out half of the discs I wanted to import, and stopped in the middle of other discs while importing. So, they took it and replaced the Superdrive.
After the replacement, I was having the same problems...there were CD's that just weren't recognized and wouldn't import. I took it in, and took in some of the CD's that were having issues. They tried importing those CD's in other computers in the store, and they were fine.
So, we ended up sending it in for repair. they said that it could possibly be the Logic Board, as well as the Superdrive. I turned it in on Monday, July 24th...and I got it back today. And....still the same problems. I'm getting just a wee bit frustrated.
In the interim period while I didn't have my computer, I borrowed one from a friend who's a technology director at a school that uses macs...it was a 1.83GHz with a combo drive...and the combo drive imported EVERY CD that I put in. So I dunno...it seems to me like there's a problem with some of the Superdrives that are in the machines. I guess I need to take it in again after I move next week.

  • Would you return your iPhone 4 to get the iPhone 4.1 on September ?

    Hi all,
The question is simple : would you return your current iPhone 4 to get the iPhone 4.1 on September ? I had to give the revised iPhone 4 a name , as Mr.Jobs did not deny the hardware revision of the phone in the Q&A session of today's presentation.
I have the iPhone 4 and the Bumper, no signal issues with the case on, but a hardware-fixed phone sounds much better, what would you do if you were in my situation?
    Many thanks..

People are stupid if they honestly believe Apple's going to release new hardware for the iPhone 4. The only new iPhone hardware they're probably working on is next year's model.

Would you Apple zealots use some common sense for once in your lives? There is a reason behind everything and the September 30 date was not arbitrarily chosen out of the blue. It gives Apple more than enough time to tweak the manufacturing process and silently ship new phones to their stores and partners. Do you really think the white phone was delayed because they ran out of supplies or are having trouble manufacturing the white glass? Of course not. Anyone who truly thinks Apple wasn't aware of the antenna problem is an idiot.
If the tweak works, lo and behold, Apple will announce that new customers will no longer need free cases because Apple has done what no other mobile phone company has been able to do: triumph over physics. The reality is that new hardware revisions will have insulated the antenna and Apple will likely time the announcement with an OS update to make it seem like it was a software problem all along. Not so far-fetched after all the BS Apple has spewed in the last 2 weeks and it's certainly the lengths a company that doesn't want to admit to any wrongdoing would go to.
You think they're going to announce all that? No. Doing so would completely cannibalize their sales, in addition to admitting liability. Think, for God's sake.

How do you change your thumbprint for the iphone 5s?

Go to Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode, enter your passcode, then Turn Passcode Off will delete all current fingerprints. You can then turn passcode back on and enter fingerprints.
Rather than deleting, you can also add the same fingerprint a second time via "Add a fingerprint" in Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode, enter your passcode, then Touch ID.

The home button on my iPad has became faulty, it works sometimes although you have to press it really hard. Can Apple fix this for me?

They might be able to. If it's an iPad 2 then it is still within the warranty period, so as long as it's due to accidental damage it might be fixed/replaced free of charge. Have you tried contacting Apple ? I don't know what country you are in, and whether you are near an Apple store, but you could try looking on this page for your service options.
Before you do that you could try a reset and see if it that helps : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons (assuming that it works) for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • If the store will not let you return your $50 GC, please read this.

First, tell them you know their policy for returning GCs, and that you have talked with someone at corp. regarding this. Many customers are reporting that this works.
If they still refuse, please make a thread in the BB&GS Policies forum regarding your issue. The Community Connectors there can contact the store you are having trouble with and educate them on the correct policy.

But since a week a go don't show the number of the person, and I received tons of messages everyday, but  on my phone record of text messages don't reflect the phone number. Is a way you can block your number??? so dont registrer in the phone record?

I understand the importance of viewing numbers in your message details hmaldonado. There is an option for individuals to block their number if it is restricted. What do you see on your phone for these messages you are referring to? Is this a number that is stored in your phonebook? Have you checked My Verizon online? Can you see calls from this person? What specific task are you trying to accomplish with this number? Here's how to access My Verizon. Select My Usage, then Usage details. http://bit.ly/xB4iTc

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

Are you using handcent sms or a text app? if so, uninstall it. If no, boot the phone into safe mode. What kind of droid is this? the original droid? droid x? bionic?  You can also call tech support but its really annoying to wait in line its much easier to google your model droid safe mode and it will tell you how to do it. When in safe mode you should be able to see them. if not, you need to do a master clear aka reset. Save your info and reset it and that will fix it for sure.

    Hi Swampxiix,
How many programs do you have open while you're working in Illustrator? Do you have a lot of layers or art boards?
It could be that your computer was being slowed by too many programs, or a complex design file. The age of your computer could also be a culprit.
