"If you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored on iCloud will be deleted from this Mac.

My wife changed her iCloud password on her iPhone, and when she went to her iMac she changed her iCloud password there to match the iPhone. Then she got the following message:
"if you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored on iCloud will be deleted from this Mac. This appears under her iCloud account. She has Yosemite on her iMac.
So she's stuck. Any ideas?

The documents remain in iCloud, but are removed from your mac.  So if she turns it off, they will be removed.  If she turns it back on, the documents would again be available.

  • Attaching documents stored in iCloud to an e-mail.

I am storing documents in iCloud.  I would like to attach a document (or several documents) to an e-mail to send them to clients, other attorneys, etc.  I can attach documents stored on my Mac, but how do I attach documents stored in iCloud?  I am using Apple's mail program.

When composing a message in Mac Mail, you can access your iCloud Documents by accessing "all my files" from the finder drop-down menu. You can easily access number, pages and keynote documents.
Also, at the top of the screen, next to where it also says "All My Files" you can sort the files by application, type, etc. This will include all documents stored in icloud, whether it's preview, pages, keynote or numbers.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you turn off iCloud Drive without losing data?

I enabled iCloud drive but then discovered through some articles that one should not enable iCloud Drive until Yosemite comes out and all of one's devices are running iOS8 and Yosemite on their computes.  Since enabling iCloud Drive I am missing Photostream and Pages docs that I had on my phone and god knows what else. When I went to try and turn off iCloud Drive (so I can then wait until Yosemite comes out before I re-enable iCloud Drive), I get the following message:
"Are you sure you want to turn off iCloud Drive? Some changes have not been uploaded to iCloud. If you turn off iCloud Drive, these changes will be lost." Immediately below that message is a red message that says "Delete from iPhone."
What exactly would be deleted from my phone if I turn off iCloud Drive?  What changes does the message refer to?  Why can't I just return my phone from iCloud Drive to the regular Cloud so I can access my Photostream and my Pages data?  And why on earth did Apple not alert us to the issues we would face with iOS8 if we install BEFORE Yosemite comes out?  This is so frustrating!
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Teresa

I would love to hear that Apple has remedied this problem. From other discussion strings that I am following related to this issue, it seems thus far we remain out of luck. I did discover that if I log onto iCloud.com I can access my files that way.  Still, what a pain.
When I got the message re iCloud Drive as I was setting up my phone after the update to iOS8, it said I wouldn't be able to access my files unless all of my devices were running iOS8 OR Yosemite. That message was misleading as it really should have said all devices need to be running iOS8 AND your mac needs to be running Yosemite, as it was not an "either or" situation.  So frustrating...

  • How do you turn off persmissions

I looked and couldn't fuind a tread that addressed this questiuon but is there a way as "ADMIN" that I can turn off "permissions" to ALL files, folders etc on the system so that anyone can work with them? The reason I ask is I went and transferred all my files via "Migrate" from one computer to another (2007 Pro Mac & 2009 Early Pro Mac) but when I did I must have done something wrong since now whenever I go to transfer a folder, file whatever I have to type in my password. I have been going into INFO on each file and changing READ ONLY to READ/WRITE but that is getting old real quick Any and all help greatlly appreciated
    Ed

Permissions are set a certain way, to protect users against messing up the system.  It is nothing personal.
Putting the files you want access in to on a new hard drive is probably done best by creating a folder
in an allowed spot such as your Users -> yourname -> Desktop and dragging all the files you need into that folder.  Then you can recursively change the permissions of the files within that folder.
I would not attempt to move Applications out  of the Applications folder, and instead direct aliases to them.
I would not attempt to move anything out of the library folder, except to import documents into newer versions of applications if they old library folder belonged to an older operating system version of the said application.
Some documents may have to be converted on an older Mac before they get migrated to a newer Mac, because new Macs don't support PowerPC applications, without serious meddling:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
As long as all the files you have created that are system agnostic are in one folder that you need to change permissions of, you can click once on the said folder, and adjust the permissions of that folder through File menu -> Get Info and look under Ownership.
Sometimes you might get an in use error.  Do not disregard these, as it may mean some system specific application may use the said document, especially if no application is running except the Finder through command-tab application switching.

  • HT2978 How do you turn off genius

HELP!!! I have tried several times to turn OFF Genius in the App Store but it is not working. I even tried to turn off all location services and then do a soft reset. Genius is still running! Arrgh

From this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2978, to turn off Genius:
You can turn off Genius for Apps from the Account page in the App Store. To get to the Account page, scroll to the bottom of the App Store screen and tap the button with your account name on it. Once you turn off Genius for Apps, the App Store will no longer send information about the apps on your device to Apple. If you used Genius for Apps on more than one device, you must turn off Genius for Apps from each device.

I am being asked to upgrade to iCloud Drive but indications are that I will not be able to access up to date details on any of my documents on my Mac without going into iCloud first.  Have I got this interpretation right or can I save changes to access the new versions on my iMac?

    That is Apple's statement:
Using iWork with iCloud Drive - Apple Support
    Options for iWork customers
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive today if you want to keep your documents up to date in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, and you want to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com and the Share via iCloud feature.
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive later if you want to keep your documents up to date with your apps on iOS 7 or earlier and OS X Mavericks or earlier.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive today
To access the most recent versions of your documents from a Mac with OS X Mavericks or earlier, you’ll need to go to iCloud.com and access Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from there. On a PC, you can install iCloud for Windows and set up iCloud Drive.
If you upgrade to iCloud Drive now:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8, Macs with OS X Yosemite, PCs with iCloud for Windows, and iCloud.com.
Your documents will no longer keep up to date on devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You’ll be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You’ll be able to use the Share via iCloud feature with iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, and iCloud.com.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud will be accessible to collaborators.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive later
Note that until you upgrade your iCloud account to iCloud Drive, you won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com or the Share via iCloud feature.     If you don’t upgrade to iCloud Drive at this time:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8 and across devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You won’t be able to use the Share via iCloud feature.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud won’t be accessible to collaborators until you upgrade to iCloud Drive.

  • Can you turn off the annoying pop-up in iTunes

Can you turn off the annoying pop-up in iTunes when you hover over a song in your song list.
I don't need a stupid pop-up; this isn't a stupid Windows program. Now my iTunes is jumping around, things are popping up!  *** APPLE! I wnat my old iTunes back!

Like whan you touch the black bar at the top of the screen with the time and the battery percentage and all that...the screen will scroll all the way back to the top.  I'm wondering if there is a way to turn that off

  • How do you turn off Camera?

In an AIR application, how do you turn off the camera once it has been activated? I remove all references to Video objects associated with the camera, unattach the camera from NetStreams, and remove references to the camera object. This does not deactivate the camera; it seems to be necessary to run the garbage collector too. The trouble is that running the program in the debugger with the manual garbage collector action causes the application to be unresponsive for >30 seconds, which is extremely annoying. Is there a simpler way to turn off the camera?
For reference, I am testing on a MacBook that has an LED for when the camera is in use.
    EDIT:
I have opened a bug for this, which Adobe appears to say is an enhancement.

This is the most annoying thing on an otherwise awesome phone...can't take pics at my nieces school plays and stuff now. Blackberry Needs to fix this NOW! It is not illegal in the US to turn off your shutter sound....WTF Blackberry?!?
