Hi(Bonjour)!
As Ian often wrote: "it's time to stop writing on the forum and going outside to make films".
So, I made this short movie about friends who compose music and play it in the nature.
I used an FX1, shooting in HDV. A RODE VideoMic was hooked to cam and a ZOOM H4 digital recorder was used to record the music track on location. We shooted 56 minutes of material to edit a 6 minutes movie, with 7 integral takes for music.

Where were the car-chases, shootouts, explosions and other special effects?
I didn't even see any clock wipes or page peels!
Seriously, it was a beautifully filmed story of musicians enjoying and harmonising with nature. I also enjoyed it because the scenery was very similar to that near where I live.
My broadband (over the telephone lines) is so slow that I had to watch it in medium quality and even then I had to wait ages to let the video load but the quality was still impressive.
A couple of winter shots below, not far from my home.
Yet I have never made an interesting film using them as locations !
Maybe this year with my new camera ......................

Hi all, iTunes Sync help ...please?
I bought a MacMini having been a iPhone & iPad user with a winPC for many years and i fail to understand what iTunes wants to do with my suff on my iPhones etc. It appears to want to wipe it and start new and from previous blogs i cant see that this has actually been addressed.
I have tried to get Apple to call me by logging a case several times but they never ring and then just send me a mail saying we tried to call (they dont) so i am hoping someone can help me...please?
When i pug my iPhone or iPad in non of the apps appear in the simulation on the second tab and non of my music are there. When i hit 'Sync' a pop up says'Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to “Chr15h’s iPhone5” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library.'
I realy dont want to loose all my data. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction...please?

Ok, Movies only in US.. that is fine.. BUT I only have Apps and Books to select. Where is my option to download my music again? I can see my purchases under my account but from the store trying to follow the described method - impossible!
I don't care about apps or books.. music.. I want my paid music. No wonder people pirate music?!

ITunes no longers asks "Do you want to keep the original file or move to trash?" - Can this be fixed?

I'm not sure if this was a recent update in Mavericks, but when I used to delete items from iTunes it would ask something along the lines of:
Do you want to keep the original file or move to trash?
Now I no longer get this, instead iTunes asks:
Are you sure you want to delete the selected song from your iTunes library?
After which, if you choose the option "Delete Song", you get no option to keep the original file, it just straight up deletes if from my library and hard drive. Does anyone know if there is a way around this? For whatever reason, I want to be able to keep the original file on my Mac, without keeping it in my iTunes library.
I've tried resetting dialogue warning, and this hasn't made a difference.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so. My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album. After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location. What am I doing wrong? I know this should be a simple thing to do. Thanks

In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

I recently upgraded to Lion. Every time I start up iMovie, it asks if I want to go ahead and generate thumbnails. I say OK, then it alerts me that it cannot file the file IMG_0073.MOV. Then it says "Without this file, the movie cannot play properly." It gives me the option to either cancel or search for the movie.
I don't have the old file it's looking for. I simply want to start a fresh movie with new material but cannot get past this hump. Based on the little research I have done, some people experienced this problem because the files were in aperture at some point, which was the case for me before when I used iMovie. I have since moved forward only with iPhoto but perhaps it's hung on an old file format?
I tried taking another old movie and renamed it IMG_0073.mov to see if I could simply select it, give it what it wants and move on but it won't let me select the file for some reason. I also tried removing iMovie and downloading a fresh version but that didn't work either. My BF tried removing pfiles (I think that's what it's called? but again no luck)
Please help! I must get this assignment done for a class!

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.

Is there a picture organization app that will let you move pictures around the way you want?

I need a recommendation for a picture organization app that will actually allow you to sort pictures the way you want and have them stay in that order.
The native app just doesn't allow me to sort my pictures into what ever sequence I want them in. Creating new folders is OK, finally being able to delete pictures from photo stream is great but I really want a finer level of control over the order in which my pictures are displayed. I looked at iPhoto but it has lots of reviews that say it doesn't do this so I am looking for an app that will give me control of my albums and will allow me to sort my pictures the way I want them.

I have iPhoto and I have found that it works very well for me, organising photos etc. onto a pinboard type thing.

Some "movies' are actually Flash files.
This means the Flash App will play them (possibly in a browser in some cases).
Depending where this item is and how it is playing it may be effected by other things
A web page can include javascript.
Apple uses javascript here to help with creating the posting box, the Edit options, Adding pics/smilies and the like.
Sometimes the javascript can be what is called a runaway process and gets sort of stuck in an endless loop.
If it is a free standing item then it might be triggered by AppleScript on the Mac. (or be modified in some way)
Again if the Script (normally written with a upper case S) is not perfect it can cause problems.

I have a TB profile on USB stick and 2 or 3 times happen that I moved
accidentally one diretory onto another and run out of space.
Thunderbird TB crushed and lost lot of emails.
There shall be a popup asking: ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO MOVE DIR1 to DIR2
preventing to do that action automatically as it is unstoppable and unreversable
and in case of low disk space leads to DB corruption.

Once you face the problem (don't now how big your DB is, mine 20GB, 9 years) then maybe you change your mind. How many times a day you reorganize your folders? Have your moved a folder bigger then 2 or 3 GB by click?

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

This simply means it is set to Automatically update and you should not have to do anything with it.
When you put new music in iTunes , it will automatically go on the iPod next time you connect it.
This is the default to make it very simple and very easy to use.
If you want to do it all yourself, iTunes prefs -> iPod.
Set to Manually manage songs and playlists.
You have to drag songs to the iPod and delete them from the iPod.

You could try Handbrake, it works quite well.

There is no way to move text freely to the position you want. Am I missing something..or you just can't do it?

I use FCP X with Lion and, after clicking the little icon with the four dots in the lower left corner of the viewer window, I can move my titles and text. I noticed, however, that I cannot click and drag from just anywhere on the viewer screen, but I have to click in the smaller rectangle surrounding the text. Just to make sure I don't miss it, I usually just click on a letter in the text and drag the text block to where I want it. That's probably just a habit from programs I have used in the past that require that. I think you guys got it right ... just need to get close to the text for it to work. Of course, it goes without saying you also need to select the text clip first.
