I've experienced this along with many others. Here is a PSD (Photoshop file) that you can download and move around and hide the Scan Line layer to see how really flawed this new high res screen is:

5% seems to be the sweep spot, so every other row of pixels is 5% darker.

I'm about to buy a 15" PB and nervous about the usual dead /hot pixel business. So this potential new problem is shocking news. However I have just come from a respected UK supplier and examined three PBs 2 15" (M9969) and 1 17" (M9970) and can confirm that the displays on these three are perfect. None of the banding effect you have shown or reported. I did get really close, and had a simple magnifier with me as well. Thanks for the screen shots you have provided, but these three were fine.
You must surely have a fault as (from your images) this clearly visible problem renders the display worthless.

I think this is an excellent indicator that not only is Palm reviewing the feedback from the support forums here, but actively reviewing feedback/comments/wishes on other sites as well.
As the original poster copied this (quite solid, IMO) wishlist from Pre Central, the palm support staff acknowledged first seeing it there.

OFFICEJET PRO 8600 PLUS HAS POOR QUALITY, BLACK TEXT HAS HORIZONTAL LINES & FADING

I have a Officejet Pro 8600 Plus which is a few months old. It gets light use although I'm a graphic designer working from home.
The problem just started with a very poor print quality. The black text fades in and out, has horizontal lines through it. The color text also has horizontal print qualities.
I replaced all of the color ink cartridges, the black is mostly full.
I have repeatedly run the Align Printhead and Clean Printhead functions on the printer with no improvement.
What can I do at this point? I need the printer function very soon.
I'm on a Mac OS 10.7.5

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Regarding the Officejet pro 8600 not printing a clean crisp black text, the steps you have done are very good attempts to resolve.
When you printed the cleaning, did the characters print clean and crisp? It should look like this:
Please excuse the blurry image and colors should be on the bottom of the page, how ever the above should give you an idea of what it should look like.
Performing the steps in this HP document: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems should help. It will have you doing steps you have done already, I recommend doing the steps but you could skip the steps you have done already.

I would take your machine into a Apple service center. Its highly likely a hardware issue. The most likely issue being the display has failed. If there is no external damage to the machines display they will replace the whole display under warranty for you.

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

New display, same horizontal lines

I've got a new display (Apple doesn't replace the entire PowerBook in Switzerland) and the new one has the same horizontal lines.
Does anybody own an 1440x960 15" PowerBook WITHOUT these horizontal lines??

All this talk about the display brings back memories of my 2000 PowerBook G3/FW. There were huge variations in the displays of those PowerBooks. Eventually I learned to cope and calibrated my screen. Still, it practically killed my interest in digital photography, as my photos mostly looked dull and uninteresting on that screen.
In comparison, the 15" issue with lines is really minor, but I admit it is there and can be seen.

The rectangle has four quadrants. The bottom two should be the same shade even on a PB G4/15DL and on an ideal display, all four should be the same color. On the PB G4/15DL, the top two quadrants are not the same shade of gray, but the screen position determines which one is brighter and which one is darker.
If there's a difference between top left and top right, your screen is affected.

Disconnect all external devices from your computer except the keyboard and mouse. If you have an Ethernet cable connected, disconnect it.

Restart your computer and hold down the “C” key as it starts up. A list of available startup volumes appears. Click Apple Hardware Test and click the right arrow.
When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears after about 45 seconds, follow the onscreen instructions.
If Apple Hardware Test detects a problem, it displays an error code. Make a note of the error code before pursuing support options. If Apple Hardware Test does not detect a hardware failure, the problem may be software related.

Windows Media export has horizontal lines

Hello,
I am exporting a video with basketball footage in it and am trying to do a windows media export. Unfortunately, no matter what i do to the settings, I get these horizontal lines in the video when there's a lot of action/movement. Any idea what this might be and how it could be fixed?

Depending on the encoder you are using, you can create interlaced WMVs.
Deinterlace the movie before you pring it into your encoder. You cna export a reference movie or nest the sequence and apply a deinterlace to the nest. Render, export self contained.

Source Monitor has horizontal lines along the video

Hi,
In the source monitor [only after the video is rendered] I get these horizontal lines across the video. Looks like this http://yfrog.com/7bpremierproblemj
I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? Also, the rendered file is fine which really confuses me and if I click on the video in the source monitor then it is restored back to normal, until I click off it then it goes back to having those lines.

I've recently installed new drivers and I still have that problem. Driver errors wouldn't explain why the video is fine when I import it. If my computer struggled to play the video then the exported file would have the vertical lines to, however it is fine.

The options for transferring photos is under the Photos tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. If a single folder of photos is selected to be transferred, place the photos from that folder that you want transferred to the iPhone into a new folder on your computer. Select the new folder that includes the photos you want transferred under the Photos tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

Anecdotally, some have reported succedd by smacking their iPad.
basically the guts of an ipad is a board connected to a battery. ANd that board has little bits and pieces sodered onto it. When you dropped it, you jarred something. The theory is that you can rejar it back into place by giving your device a good smack or two. Obviously you do this at your own risk because you can just as easily break it.
The other option is to make an appointment at your local apple store and take it in and pay the out of warranty fee for a replacement. The OOW fee starts at 249 for an iPad 2 and goes up to 299 or more for the newer ones (and 32-128 gig and cellular ones cost more)

My brand new IPhone has a line down the screen.

Nothing has happened to it, I was just using it set it down, picked it back up a few minutes later and boom this line is there?? It also affects the use of the phone. I don't get what could be wrong?

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons for about 10 seconds until iPhone begins to restart itself, ignore the "slide to power off", let the iPhone restart itself. See if better, if still problem, Restore the iPhone with current iTunes on your computer. See if fixed. If still problem make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.
