  • Ifolder 3.8 client fails on windows 7 after updates

I installed ifolder 3.8 client on a new windows 7 home 64-bit pc and it worked fine until I ran windows up date.
Now I get a "Novell ifolder core has stopped working" message when ifolder tries to start.
I get the following information in the problem details.
At this point, ifolderapp.exe is running, but simias.exe is not.
It looks like simias is crashing when it starts.
I have removed and reinstalled the ifolder client at least three times, and the same result occurs.
This looks very similar to the problem reported earlier with XP SP3

    Hi
Also can you provide the client version and have any error messages or
    screenshots would help.
There was an iFolder update in late November, if this isn't installed,
    have you tried that?

  • IFolder 3.4 client on Mac OSX Toger

    Hi
I am having a problem with the 3. client on Mac, the server is the 3.5
running on SLES9. I am able to connect and sync ok from Linux and Windows
machines. When I try on my mac machine I am able to log in ok, when I try
to set up an ifolder I get the error :
    Error setting up iFolder
iFolder was unable to set up the selected ifolder for an unknown reason.
Please check the path selected and try again.
I also get a similar error when I try to create a new folder
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Matt

Mac iFolder3 3.9.1.0, same error for me.
I tried to create new folder on mac1 and got it to sync ok. On mac2 then I tried to create the same named folder and download it to mac2. This error occurres now. Restarting the client and/or the mac2 does not resolve the issue.
    Any updates on the matter.

  • IFolder Client error: Not enough space on the iFolder server

iFolder client gets the following error:
iFolder synchronization cannot complete because you don't have enough space on the server.
Free space on the server = 464 MB (total space available 3000 MB)
Space needed to complete synchronization = 2536 MB.
Please free up space in your iolder and click OK.
Click Cancel to cancel to sync.
iFolder client log looks like this:
    13.3.2011 23:40:46 Synchronizing with server...
    13.3.2011 23:40:48 Synchronization failed
The volume size is 36 GB and it has free space 20% = 7 GB.
So there is enough space to the iFolder sync.
iFolder host is NetWare 6.5.8 server and iFolder version is 2.1.8
The same iFolder is synced from two (2) PC's, a desktop (XP SP3) and notebook (W7 SP1 32bit). Both have been working for long time.
The problems are seen on notebook using Windows 7. The Windows 7 (32-bit) OS has updated with SP1 on Saturday (May 12th.2011). After the update iFolder worked but on Sunday evening the errors started.
iFolder client (2.1.8) has removed and reinstalled. First the client seemed to work OK, but after the sync of last file, the error reoccured again.
iFolder sync partially works: files and folders created on desktop PC are synced to notebook.
But files created on notebook are not synced to desktop.
Any tips how to repair or troubleshoot?
    Kind Regards, Harri

464 MB is less than 2536 MB so error message is correct.

Is there perhaps a volume or directory quota in place that would affect
    the sync?

Noting your follow-up reply re uninstall of Windows 7 SP1 I'll flag that
the iFolder 2.0 client is not supported on Windows 7 - it would have
been released before Windows 7 and certainly not updated for it (OES
    Linux introduced iFolder 3).

  • One iFolder client won't properly sync

We have an OES 2 SP2 with iFolder 3.8 installed.
We have about a dozen users, so far no one else has this issue. I was at a client and got a new laptop to use onsite, installed iFolder 3.8 client from the server (Same as on my other laptop, files are all dated Oct1, 2009)
But after correctly connecting, downloading the iFolder for the client, now, on a reboot or a restart of the iFolder client I see just the currently downloaded one, not the available iFolders (Yes, the View Available is ticked) and get told incomplete sync, and server unavailable.
Disconnect/connect does not error. I tried using a VPN tunnel via another client to see if it was their network, but seems not to be related.
And it worked for a while, then stopped, so I doubt it is the local firewall. (Windows FW is off, Symantec is installed, but I do not have rights to see its settings).
However, I can get to the http://server/iFolder and /admin interfaces via a web browser, and via HTTPS. So I am doubtful of firewall issues.

    Very odd.

  • Missing files with ifolder and Mac OS 10.6.2

    Hello,
I have been using ifolder for a year more or less and I am delighted with it. It is what I and my workmates always wanted.
We have always been using ifolder with Windows clients, and it has always worked perfectly. However, some weeks ago we bought a Macbook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.2. And due to we had the ifolder client for Mac, we thought that it will work fine. But, now we are having some problems with it.
The most important one is that when the client for mac begin to download the files from the server (for the first time) it download everything well but then it begin to detect changes not made in some files and to delete them from the server. Afterwards, the ifolder client begin to upload some of the changed files to the server but others are completely erased from the server and from the PC.
This only happens the first time that ifolder synchronize, but we can not lose our files.
Anyone knows how to solve this problem.

  • Upgrading iFolder 3.4 to latest version 3.8

Hello, I am running iFolder 3.4 on a SLES 10 oes2 sp1. I want to do an in-place upgrade to 3.8.x I downloaded the ifolder rpm from sourceforge, I have been reading Novell documentation but there is no mention of how to upgrade. Is it just as simple as installing the RPM and reboot the server? or should I install/upgrade from the oes2 sp3 media?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

The iFolder 3.8.4 ReadMe has this important caveat about really downlevel clients and 3.8 servers:
When you connect an iFolder 3.6 client to an iFolder 3.7 and later server, the system throws a System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException error instead of prompting the user to log in to the new client.
This is because the iFolder 3.6 Windows client cannot communicate with an SSL 3.7 or later server. During the connection attempt, the server responds that the preferred communication is HTTPS; however, the 3.6 client does not support HTTPS. When the client attempts to connect via HTTPS, the connection fails because the certificate validation and acceptance fail.
The workaround for this issue is to perform a manual upgrade or set the iFolder 3.7 and later server to communicate via only HTTP
The iFolder documentation implies that you should upgrade OES first and then iFolder. In addition iFolder patches are within the generic OES updates so I'd update OES first and then iFolder from within OES but you might have to make some intermediate stops (3.6 or 3.7 along the way). Back up your /simias (datastore) directory no matter what before. 3.8.4 still has Mono (most likely) bugs on Windows clients so I'm holding on to 3.7 until I hear there's a fix personally.

  • Various errors

I have several users using iFolder (the latest client) on Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Each user is experiencing multiple problems on a regular basis such as:
Failing to load the client first time often taking 4 or 5 attempts to launch
    Web service not started error
    Simias directory error
    incomplete sync issues within iFolder
On all the machines I have performed the following several times over:
    renamed Simias directory
stopped all firewall services and AV
re-created iFolder folders to which the iFolder shares download too
removed completely the software (and all registry entries) and re-installed
I simply do not know what else I can do, often the service will run fine for several days but its will fail for no reason usually with one of the above errors. Re-installing is not an option as this only fixes temporarily and causes alot of downtime.
Is there an known issue with iFolder 3.8/3.9 and Windows 64 bit. I have been reliably informed that the client we are using is the 64 bit client.
This was never a issue when the users were on 32bit XP
    Please advise?

Please can you let us know the following
    * the exact version of the iFolder client
    * whether you're using Novell iFolder (installed on NetWare/OES) or the open source version
    * which OS is hosting iFolder (cat /etc/*release)
    * which version of iFolder you're running (rpm -qa | grep ifolder)

  • XE: Cant connect to sql*plus, APEX  seems to function

Hi! I am a beginner in oracle.
I installed oracle XE 10g, both the server and the client on mandriva linux, using the supplied RPM's. After that I ran /etc/init.d/xe/configure and accepted the default values. Then I performed the post-installation steps as mentioned in APEX insstallation guide (sourcing the shell scripts).
In the APEX interface I can see the database, its staistics and I created a user. But when I try to connect using sql*plus, the connection is refused:
    SQL> conn sys as sysdba
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Judging from the output of commands below, there is something missing. Any ideas?

The messages tell me that you do not have the ORACLE_HOME variable set correctly. This has been discussed umpteen times, but since search is beyond the call of duty, I'll copy/paste one of my recent responses
In Linux and Unix Oracle REQUIRES that variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID be set properly. And *nix REQUIRES that an executable be in the PATH or explicitly referenced. The easiest way of setting those consistently and correctly is to source the oraenv routine which is placed in /usr/local/bin by the installer. To use that, and assuming you are using Linux,
    1) Find out the ORACLE_SID for your reference
    tail /etc/oratab
and note the last line. The first field will be the SID.
    2) Source oraenv
    . oraenv
[ oracle ]?: enter the SID here
and if you want to put this into a script, enter something like
    ORAENV_ASK=NO
    ORACLE_SID={enter your SID ehere}
    . oraenv
    ORAENV_ASK=
Many people will suggest you set these variables in your profile. In the long term that is a bad idea (and DBAs should always be thinking in the long term) since most DBAs end up with a second database, ORACLE_HOME, upgrade or product and oraenv ensures that there will be no conflicts.

  • Oracle10g instant installation for php 5.2.3 in slackware 12

    Hi,
I don't know how to install oracle 10g instant for php 5.2.3 in slackware 12. There are install documents in his site but they aren't used in slackware 12. I need to solve this problem.

    Hi,
I have gotten a stable and working environment doing installation of Oracle Instant Client on Mandriva Linux. I know it's a different distro, but remembering from my slackware days most of the stuff should be pretty similar. The only difference is that you will not be using RPM packages. Some of the paths might also be different.
The installation is basically in two parts:
    1. Installing Oracle Instant Client package and verifying it's working from the command-line. This might be more important one to get working.
    2. Getting and building oci8 extension. I prefer pulling latest stable stuff from pecl (pecl.php.net)
I have put together a little document with my notes that cover both parts of the install process: http://www.gena01.com/forum/index.php/topic,184.0.html
This is based on the research I have done and seems to work rather well for me. I'd love to hear if this helps you out and what things are different for slackware.

  • Ifolder client encounted an error while connecting to server

Windows 7 64 bit client give me an error when i try to connect to my i folder system. An error was encountered while connecting to ifolder server. please verify the information entered and try again if the problem persists, please contact your network administrator.
The server is a suse server that I have setup with LDAP authencation
This server works on the web interface and on my linux client but as soon as i try to connect a windows client to it i am unable to connect.
I have tried this with fresh install of ifolder 3.7 server & ifolder 3.8 server
I have tried this with ifolder client 3.8.0 & 3.8.0.3
I have tried both the fqdn and the ip to connect to the server
I have tried both ssl and nonssl in my settings.
I have tried running as administrator
I have tried reinstalling the client several times
    I have rebooted the server.
I enabled debug mode on the server interface and i see no connection errors in there.
The questions i have is where is the log file for the windows client?
Is there an easy fix for this issue?
Why does my web interface and linux client work and not my windows 7 one?
Is there any other information you will need to help me fix this issue?
    Thanks,
    Rhardy

    Hi
When connecting via the windows client, did you get a certificate
request? Is the LDAP(S) port open on the server?

  • Problem connecting only iFolder client

    Hi everyone,
I begn with iFolder 3.8 and I've a problem with connecting the client.
For information, I've 3 separate iFolder servers, two of them work perfectly !
So, on one, I can't connect the Windows Client, I've an error "iFolder can't connect, please check the informations" (translation from french).
If I try to connect on the web access, it's OK, no problem with that.
The Simias.log file says that the connexion is successful with the client but it's not...
I try to reinstall the server several times with simias-server-setup, ifolder-admin-setup and ifolder-web-setup but no effects.
If someone as already experienced this and solved this problem, thank you for your help.

OK, so I've solved my problem after hours.
I tried to reinstall completly the server and then, it works !
To conclude, if your iFolder server doesn't work at the first time, don't try to debug, format and reinstall.

  • Ifolder client as a windows service

client request, is it possible to run the ifolder client as a windows
service so we can sync a windows "file server" pc to ifolder without logging
    in after a reboot?
I guess this would be similar to running DropBox as a service

anybody tried this? or have any experience?
    many thanks

I have used many app as a service so the app doesn't interact with a desktop by using srvany which is included in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools.
Although i have more recently moved to nssm almost a direct drop in replacement because it has better error handling of crashed apps that it is running as a a service.
    Check it out here

  • Ifolder Client on openSUSE 11.4

    Hi any and all.
I've just upgraded a machine to openSUSE 11.4 x66, and can't seem to make the ifolder client run on it.
I've tried both the default from the OSS repo, and the buildservice version from
    Index of /repositories/network:/ifolder:/Factory/openSUSE_11.4
Presently with the latter repo, when I launch the splash appears for about 5 seconds, and then dies with the following error to console
