Does this Eset Anti Virus 4.2.71.2 include a firewall? Seem like something is blocking ifolder access "System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:49290"

I connected only one PC to the router with an ethernet cable

The tests were performed several times. But I got the same results.

  • ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 for Mac ( CRAP )

Hey I don't know about any of you, but stay away from this junk. I had the biggest nightmare and I am still working with both Data Rescue, Mac Disc Utility and Drive Genius 2 all in the hopes of being able to get my computer back to normal.
I ran the basic quick virus scan offered. It locked up my computer. I had to force restart it, clear my PRAM and thereafter not be able to even get back into that boot drive. So I had to use another one of my boots to help clean up the files at which point it still wasn't working.
I wasted a great chunk of my evening and I usually never have problems with Apple. Anybody else have issues with the "Subject" line product I have mentioned?

And what works on Windows doesn't seem to carry over very well, ie, even Intego has trouble and causes a performance hit.
With Norton, maybe the best advice is to check out their own Community Forum, keep it away from normal production or system for daily use, and set it up on a TEST CLONE. If OS X could be test run in a VM that would be dandy, but can't, where all changes are discarded when shutdown.
    ESET NOD32 forum any help?
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15
Snow Leopard compatible? I noticed OP said they used Drive Genius 2, and I am pretty sure you need to upgrade to DG3 to be safe, same as every OS update where Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro had to be updated. (There is Data Rescue 3 as well.)
People often say that they don't see the need for uninstallers and that is a PLUS over Windows. I kind of like having a central location and means to uninstall scripts trigger from a Programs control panel.
Another way to "uninstall" is to rollback to prior to point in time. There aren't any such "Sandbox" tools though where you can setup and then test and when done, tell the system to undo everything.

  • ITunes ESET Nod32 Virus Popup

    Hello,
I did a search for a few things in the iTunes store, and I immediately get a trojan warning from ESET Nod32 about it.  I formatted my computer, and tried it again, but I got the popup again.
    JS/TrojanDownloader.Iframe.NKF trojan
I tried it on all my other computers as well and they all do the same thing.  Is this a false positive?
I was looking for Indiana University from iTunes U so I searched for Bloomington and get this everytime.

'''No''', that ABP support thread says:
<pre><nowiki> "Apparently ESET (NOD32 Antivirus, ESET Smart Security) recently released an update to their virus definition database (db 6799) that wrongfully detects the malware JS/Redirector.B in Adblock Plus installations using the EasyList filter subscription.
ESET has already confirmed and fixed this false positive, so all you need to do to fix the problem is to ignore the warning and update your virus signature database (db version 6800 contains the fix)." </nowiki></pre>
It says to re-subscribe '''''if''''' ESET has trashed your ABP filter rules file.

  • Installing ESET NOD32 on a T61

Will ThinkVantage work properly with ESET NOD32? I seriously do not like Norton Internet Security or anything from Symantec and would prefer to run NOD32, but I do not want to break compatibility with the ThinkVantage suite.

Hello and welcome to this forum!
Some thinkpad users run their machines with Nod32 without problems, also Antivir oder AVG,
    are fast and small alternatives.
Kaspersky or Norton Suites slow down the system, but are more recommended for business use.
I have Antivir, and always all seems ok!
    Kind regards

Does my new Ipad and Ipod need antivirus protection?

well, it depends on how you define a virus, theorically, ios is not prone to viruses, and since ios has built-in security measures (link bellow) theres nothing to fear
and also-since there are more windows users (in theory) than ios users (and again the security) it will be way easier to target windows OS then IOS

    Hi,
My computer has been prone to malwares or viruses, not pretty sure, but right now, i'm in trouble. My antivirus software folder is not opening, and gives error
"C:/program files/McAfee" is not accessible. Access denied"
I'm in one more trouble, whenever I install new antivirus, like ESET, or new antimalware like MalwareBytes, during the installation process, the process says that the particular
file (related to the software) cannot renamed, and access is denied MoveFile failed;code5
For example, I installed MalwareBytes software, and got this error:
    C:\Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Malwarebytes/Malwarebytes' Anti-malware/rules.ref
    An error occured while trying to rename a file in the destination directory;
    MoveFile failed; code 5.
    Access is denied.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or  Abort to cancel installation.
    ABORT,RETRY,IGNORE
Because of this, I don't know what malware or virus is in which part of the system

    Hello Tarik,
    Thanks for the info.
The clients are able to login. And in the ESET Smart Security configuration, the nac client application is added to the firewall rules which make nac active whatever the ports is used by the client.
    Thanks

  • Ifolder 3 and Virual Office

    Hi,
Is it already possible some way to integrate Netstorage and iFolder 3 ?
I already made an enhancement request, but so far nothing.

  • Reversing iFolder installation and copying files back

We have a client that is very upset with the poorly written iFolder client. They have 500 iFolders, which is apparently way more than iFolder was intended for.
Anyway, they wish to move all their files back to the file system.
The ifolder server is running on a SLES 10 OES2 server. They do not have any one workstation with a copy of all the iFolders--though I instructed them to work on that in case I couldn't come up with a better way.
From listing the simias/data directory on the server, I can see that the file names and sub-folder names are in tact. However, instead of the top-level iFolder name, there appears to be a guid of some sort.
Does anyone know of a utility to do this?
    TIA,
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
Please specify which sp version of OES2 and if it's patched to the latest versions.
    Also;
the output of 'rpm -qa|grep ifolder'
& knowing which version of the iFolder client they are using along with the desktop OS version would be good!
btw.. no utility I know of to 'pluck' the iFolder data folder and get it back in folder hierarchy.
Using the client is the proper way AFAIK.

  • My firefox browser keeps getting redirected to sites like "video cop" and other things I've never heard of. I keep getting pop under windows out of nowhere. What's wrong!? Adware, Spybot, and all my antivirus scans can't find anything!

When I click on links on google to go to search results, the computer often freezes or is misdirected to sites like "video cop." I've never had problems with firefox before, it's always been the most reliable browser - but now I'm getting pop-under ads too. I ran spybot, adaware, AVG, and a bunch of other scans but none of them detected any problems.
    HELP!!!!!!

Your issue may be caused by Malware. You can run and update the following '''free''' anti virus software:
    1. Malwarebytes (Free version) - http://www.malwarebytes.org
    2. Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org
    3.Spyware Terminator - http://www.spywareterminator.com
In addition, there are a number of forums you can use to help get rid of your infection. These include:

  • Work around technique for imcompatibility issues between Firefox 6.0 and Avast Free Antivirus 6.0, esp "Unresponsive Scripts."

I am using Firefox 6.0, Avast Free Anti-Virus 6.0 and Windows XP.
I am experiencing slow/freezing web browsing after a recent upgrade to Firefox 6.0. Not all but on most occasions, I also get a warning from Avast of an "unresponsive script." I suspect there is a compatibility issue between these versions of Firefox and Avast--are they any short and/or long term solutions to this. I suppose I can disable the Script Blocker on Avast but that would defeat the purpose of having an anti-virus program.
    Many thanks in advance.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
