IFRAME into iMOVIE - most efficient method for importing?

What would be the most efficient method for importing iFrame movies from a camera into iMovie?
iFrame i suppose to save time and work more efficiently in lue of quality but I don't seem to find I way to import the movies faster than in other formats.
On a second note, inporting in iMovie from DV (tape) cameras dramaticly reduced the image quality. Do we still have the same issue when importing an iFrame movie?
Thank you for your help!

Im completly new myself to importing IFRAME into Imovie 11 as i only got my new Panasonic X920 Camcorder 2 days ago.Can you please tell me is there a big drop in quality from 1080 60p to IFRAME Quality.

  • Most efficient method to process 2 million plus records from & to a Ztable

    Hi All,
    My requirement is as follows:
There is a table which has 20 and odd columns, and close to 2 million records.
Initially only 5 or 6 columns will have data. Now the requirement is to fetch them and populate the remaining columns of the table by looking into other tables.
Looking for the most efficient method to handle this as the data count is huge.
There should be an optimum balance between memory usage and time consumption.
Kindly share your expertise in this regard.
    Thanks

  • Best Method For Importing Clips Between FCP Projects

What is the best method for importing clips between FCP 7.0.3 projects?  I am wondering whether or not pulling the clips from the Capture Scratch folder is the way to go or will using Import from the new FCP project create a new folder in Capture Scratch with the imported clips?  I have a new HD camcorder with different clips for different projects and Log and Transfer makes it so easy to bring them all in at once but now wondering how best to separate them into separate Capture Scratch folders for each project.

well, I simply either drag them in to the new/different project from the finder, or drag or copy and paste between open fcp projects.  Never had any problems working this way.  Just remember that if you delete a specific project scratch disk folder, you may be deleting media used in another project.

    Hi:
Ussually I have to rebuild in AI the company logo (I use to work for industries) to include in FCP edit.
    - If you have CS2, open Photoshop and create a new file using the right preset (i.e. DV PAL) using transparent background. That creates a PSD empty file with all attributes you need (pixels dimensions and aspect ratio) to use later in FCP.
    - Select your work (i.e. the final logo) in the AI canvas and copy it.
    - Paste it in the empty PSD file as "vextor information" (I don't remember right now the exact words!). That way you can resize it in the PSD file without loosing quality.
    - The better ir deciding the size NOW in Photoshop, or create sveral version in different sizes. Yuo'll get better quality id you make the resizings in Photoshop rather that doing a scale in FCP timeline.
    - Once your logo is in the right dimension into the PSD file, save a copy and flatten all layers keeping the transparent background. If you don't need the layers during editing in FCP, you better have all layers flattened.
    - Import that file in FCP.
That's my workflow, but probably you'll find different flavors here!

  • Method for IMPORTING mystery HD FOOTAGE?

    Hi all...
After recently sorting out how to import my P2 card footage into fcp, I now have a client who has dropped a folder of HD footage on a drive and asked me to load 'er up.
I don't know what camera the footage was shot with so I can't really ask the proper question.
Maybe someone out there can help me determine which type of camera it is based on the following info:
Within the main folder there are three folders, each with the project title followed by _card1, _card2 and _card3. Within those is a folder called BPAV. Within that is a folder called TAKR and a MEDIAPRO.XML file and a CUEUP.XML file.
    (any of this sound familiar?)
Included in the TAKR folder are two folders, one called TAKR the other CLPR.
Withing the TAKR folder there's a folder called HM1_2395UO1 which contains an .XML file of the same name and a document called HM1_2395U01.SMI.
Sorry for all the gory details. Based on the above jiberish, anyone know what the source of this material might be, and what the proper protocol for importing it is?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi -
I don't know the answer to the question of which version of FCP supports it. I have run it successfully on FCP6 and FCP7. You will need the XDCam codecs, won't you?
The transfer app you want is Sony XDCam Transfer Version 2.1.0. It will transfer XDCAM and XDCAM EX.
You can run it as a stand alone app., or within FCP from the menu Import>Sony XDCam . . . , the advantage of running it from within your project is it will add the clips to the bin automatically.
Set the destination folder for your media in Sony XDcam Transfer preferences.
Point the app to the folder with the media in it, by clicking ADD in the lower left corner of the app, and then navigating to the folder ONE LEVEL ABOVE the BPAV folder.
Click Open and you should see all your clips. They may take a while to load. The app fetches the info of the clip.
Select the ones you want to import and click import on the lower right of the app. They will now be imported for editing. If you go menu Window>Activity a display will open up so you can see the progress of the import.
Once that is done, whether the media will be useable under your version of FCP, I do not know, but you might be able (just guessing) to take the imported files and use compressor?
    Hope this helps.

  • Most efficient method of online replication!

    Hello Guys,
I want to know the most efficient way of synchoronous (real time) replication among 2 oracle databases, that are on 2 different geographyical locations and connectivity among them is over the internet.
Both systems are linux based and oracle 11gR1 is installed.
    The constraint is performance.
    Kindly help.
    Regards, Imran

    1) Do you really, really need synchronous replication? Or just "near real time" replication? Synchronous replication requires that neither database commit until both databases have the change, which implies that you're using two-phase commit which implies that every single transaction requires multiple messages to be exchanged between the servers. Two servers that are widely separated are likely going to add a substantial overhead to the transaction. There are a small handful of cases where that might be reasonable, but for 99.9% of the applications out there, synchronous replication is something to be avoided at all costs.
    2) What is the business problem you are trying to solve? Are you trying to create a failover database? Are you trying to replicate a small subset of data from one database to another? Something else?
    3) What edition of Oracle are you using? Enterprise or standard?

  • Need a method for importing Palm III data into a Palm Centro

I just bought a Palm Centro (Verizon), with the expectation of importing data from my old Palm III.  From the Palm III Desktop, I exported Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos into separate folders (this was done on a Windows XP PC) and copied the resulting folders & files onto a flash drive.  But when I try to import these files into the Palm Centro desktop (on a new Mac Pro with OSX), the backup files are not in a "recognized format."  Does anyone have a process for reliably getting the Palm III data into the Palm Centro?  Also, is there an easy way to purge unwanted Contacts/Calendar events from the Palm Centro handheld?  With all the trial and error, its accumulating a lot of garbage.  Thanks...

  • Most efficient way to import pictures into different albums?

Hello, It seems like I have run into a little unpractical trouble.
My problem is that I have a lot (really, a lot) of folders on my harddrive filled with images that I wish to import into iPhoto. In iPhoto, they would be put into albums namned after the folder from which they were imported. However, I've been looking around in Automator and in these forums, but I just cannot seem to find a way to do this automatically. Manually creating an album, namning it, and then importing the images would take a substantially longer time than what it's worth.
So, I turn to you. How can I make this process happen as efficiently as possible?

Start with the lowest level of folders, if they are nested. Drag them from the Finder into the open iPhoto window, and drop them directly into the Source Pane. This will import the photos and create albums with the same names as the folders, all in one step. You can drag more than one folder at a time, just don't try it with folders that have subfolders.
    Regards.

  • Most efficient method of storing configuration data for huge volume of data

The scenario in which i'm boggled up is as follows:
I have a huge volume of raw data (as CSV files).
This data needs to be rated based on the configuration tables.
The output is again CSV data with some new fields appended to the original records.
These new fields are derived from original data based on the configuration tables.
There are around 15 configuration tables.
Out of these 15 tables 4 tables have huge configurations.
1 table has 15 million configuration data of 10 colums.
Other three tables have around 1-1.5 million configuration data of 10-20 columns.
Now in order to carry forward my rating process, i'm left with the following methods:
    1) Leave the configurations in database table. Query the table for each configuration required.
Disadvantage: Even if the indexes are created on the table, it takes a lot of time to query 15 configuration tables for each record in the file.
    2) Load the configurations as key value pairs in RAM using a suitable collection (Eg HashMap)
    Advantage: Processing is fast
Disadvantage: Takes around 2 GB of RAM per instance.
Also when the CPU context swithes (as i'm using a 8 CPU server), the process gets hanged up for 10 secs.
This happens very frequently, so the net-net speed which i get is again less
    3) Store the configurations as CSV sorted files and then perform a binary search on it.
Advantages: No RAM usage, Same configuration shared by multiple instances
Disadvantages: Only 1 configuration table has an integer key, so cant use this concept for other tables
(If i'm wrong in that please correct)
    4) Store the configurations as an XML file
Dont know the advantages/disadvantages for it.
Please suggest with the methodology which should be carried out....

How much memory is attached to each CPU? e.g. numactl --show

  • Most efficient way to import data from Excel to InDesign?

    Hi all,
I'm designing a college prospectus which includes 400+ course listings. At the moment, these listings exist as a vast Excel sheet with fields like course type, course code, description etc.
I'm familiar with importing Excel data into InDesign and formatting tables/creating table styles and such, but the problem I'm having is that the data is in multiple columns per course in the Excel sheet, but will be arranged in one column per course with multiple rows in the InDesign document. I can't seem to find a way to easily convert these columns into rows.
Can anyone help me with an efficient way to get the data into the layout without laborious copying and pasting or formatting?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi
It's a little "off" (the sizing is not quite right now), but it's viewable!
Yes - and the info from the sides - are not recorded anywhere as Camera was rotated 90 deg when recording.
    Only alternatives are:
    - Increase the picture size and crop top / bottom.
    - or create a frame instead of the black left and right side "pillards" . just to make it look nicer.
How a Clip-sequence is recorded is very important and using standing picture format as 3x4 (instead of 4x3) is a photo habit in my cases. I've just to forget it and try to concentrate on that it's Video-works I'm into doing .
To make up-sizing and cropping one can use
    - QuickTime-pro - or -
    - MPEG-StreamClip - or -
    - FinalCut Pro (expensive but here You can re-size and rotate and move the clip to view the interesting part - by key-framing.

  • What is the most popular reason for importing XML?

    Hi
New to this feature, so I would like to know what people are using it for. Presumably the XML is exported from another application. I need to get some idea of which applications people are generally exporting from, and why. Brief examples of workflows would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks
    Jason

All databases support today export to XML.
For InDesign the items have to be transformed in a special order.
Upon import InDesign can attach a XML element to a specific style or element in the document.
This helps to import a huge amount of informative content in formatted styles. Such methods are used for example for exhibition guides where information comes often very late, but the structure is foreknown or for special medicine the package will be produced automatically upon the content.
XML makes sense when the structure is given but the content may vary. Think about it with catalogues, receipts, phone and address books or similar. Less for literature.
Other methods to get the same result might be InDesign tagged text, which could also be exported from data bases.
Or if someone is exporting IDML it is a package of XML files bundled together, zip compressed with the extension IDML. Here you can research a little bit how XML works with InDesign.

  • I will pay, who creates a method for importing tables from MS word

I need a script or any other type of method, which will import the MSword document, which have tables and footnotes.
WIth "Place" option (with "SHift"), it only imports the first page of word document, and even that first page is degraded and some part of  footnotes are moved to the second page of Indesign.
    for example,see such document: http://d2.minus.com/1342790256/zDuntjI5q2iNIJqkk5UPJA/dbjwjsXzUbRmjD/sample.rtf
i will pay him, who will do that job (offer me your bid).
    my info:
    mail: selnomeria(*)yahoo.com
    skype: oceane.sa

    Hello!
    First of all:
Indesign does not support footnotes in tables. There are some tricks i use, for example making a "hidden footnote reference" somwhere in the page (just assign a 0.1pt size and fillcolor of "None") but it's just a ugly hack and if you have to reformat the tables you will have to rebuild all teh footnotes. move them around etc.
    Second:
If one of the cells in the table you are importing is larger (verticaly) than the page size the autoflow will stop. The table is imported in the story (check it out in the story editor) but indesign cannot display it. Enlage the frame until the cell fits (or make the cell smaller -decrease the text size?) and reflow the rest of the text.
    Third:
If you are working with large tables and especialy large cells be prepared to have numerous crashes. And i mean NUMEROUS!! Every time you try to change something in the table.
i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but at the moment table and footnote support in indesign is crappy at best, and i don't think there's anyone besides the guys form Adobe that can do anything to help you.
