IFS files portlet
Has anyone been able to load the iFS files portlet with Collab. Suite? I saw the portlet @ Oracle OPen World where the users files were listed on their default page in a directory structure layout. I registered a portlet provider and am able to load it but when I log into Collab. Suite I get a 500 internal server error. I'm able to at least test the portlet via http://<hostname>:<port>/files/portlet.
How did you register the portlet? In particular did you set the 'Provide Login Frequency' to once per user session?
Hope that helps,

IFS root moved to /ifs/files in Apache
I set up iFS 1.1 to work with Apache on Solaris.
It took me a while to find out that the root of the iFS files was moved to http://myhost:7777/ifs/files (instead of http://myhost:7777/ on JWS).
I learned that you can shorten the path a bit to http://myhost:7777/files by adding the line "ApJServMount / /root" in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/JServ/etc/jserv.conf file.
I also found that you can change "files" to whatever you like by altering the Servlet Alias in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/JServ/etc/zone.properties.
But is there a way to totally get rid of this directory in the URL ?
Now the paths don't match between the HTTP interface and the others (FTP, SMB, ...) and I cannot use full pathnames in my JSP's or HTML.hello --
i'm not aware of any straightforward way to map simply to "/" in JServ. you can probably do tricks like URL-rewriting through mod_rewrite in apache, but i think there could be pitfalls there as well.

How to transmit my Login data to ifs/files application
Hello,
I developed an J2EE application that I deployed under the OC4J_IFS container on a iAS server.
Within this application I have a login componnent implementing iFSHttpSession. This works perfect.
I store this instance inside the HttpSession as explained by Oracle to share it with other applications. (See the Insurance demo application)
Unfortunatly when i am logged in my application and in the same browser window put the URL <SERVER><PORT>:ifs/files, I have to re-login (The Ifs application seem not to check if the iFSHttpSession already exist)
is the login procedure of the iFS application not checking for this ??
What is the possibility to transmit mySession to ifs application ??
thanks
Michel.

Backup causing problems with IFS files being locked
We are having occasional but significant problems with our regular IFS backups. The symptom is that random SAP batch jobs, or tp processes will fail overnight. These seem to be related to the IFS backup running at the time, and appear to be that batch jobs are unable to write their log file, or a tp process will fail due to being unable to access a file of some sort (usually log or /usr/sap/trans/tmp files).
Is there a way of making an IFS backup 'online' so that it does not lock the files but simply gets a fuzzy copy of the file?
Am I missing something?
Thanks, Andy.Hi Andy,
what you prefer, does not exist .... There is a special AS/400 IFS online backup - but this is properitry and is not specially supported.
I would suggest to exclude the global directory /sapmnt/sid/global und /usr/sap/trans/tmp - as long as you backup the trans-dir this could always happen - even when FAR more rarely - because sometimes the other directories are needed as well.
I typically setup the systems that way, that the global directories are not included. In your case you should exclude trans/tmp as well ...

Thanks
HugoNo, this is not possible, nor is it supported. You may use the Java API to delete a file.

Searching without viewing internal iFS files
I have a question regarding searching files
in iFS.
How can i make sure that when a regular user
searches for files in the repository, they
don't get a list of iFS internal files also?
I tried changing the ACL for the iFS mountp point folder to private and the system blew up.
Any suggestions?
Thanx, Elvis...When you refer to internal files, are you refering to the iFS documentation and the WebUI components?
Are you writing a custom search application, or are you using the out-of-the-box clients such as WebUI or WinUI?
If you are writing custom search code, do you still want to give users access to the WebUI?
There are several ways to avoid the files under /ifs/ (which is were all the internal files are).
1) You could specify in your custom search code to do a "Folder Restricted Query", and only include folders which are not "/ifs/".
2) You could have your custom search code remove any items which are foldered in /ifs/ before they are displayed to the end-user.
3) You could change the ACL on the objects to private (but this would disable the WebUI, etc.)

Viewing an xml file in ORACLE IFS 1.1.9.0.7 like an IFS file system
Hi,
I upload an xml file to ORACLE IFS 1.1.9.0.7 (Windows 2000) and
i see in IFS my file bursted but at only one level. I want to
see as many level in IFS as i have in my xml file.
Does someone know where i can find some sample.
Thanks in advanceThe sys_xmlagg and sys_xmlgen are native implementations of functionality tied into the database code line. They replicate some of the functionality that was previously provided in a 'plugin' form by the XDK. DBMS_XMLGEN is a PLSQL Package that also provides access to native implimentations of some of this functionalitu. You should find that as a result of being native implimentation they are much more performant.
SYS_XMLGEN and SYS_XMLAGG allow XML to be generated directly from a SQL Query. DBMS_XMLGEN is designed for use in procedural processing and provides a finer grain of control over the generated output.
There are still some features, such as DTD and Schema generation that are not (yet) available with the native implementation, and for this reason, and backwards compatability the XDK functionality is still available
As a rules of thumb, if you can use the native implimentations do so, as performance should be much better.

Reading SAP-generated IFS files in Windows XP
Hello members
I want to keep some log files that are created in an IFS directory by SAP installation process for future reference. So I FTP these file into my PC in binary mode. I want to be able to read them in Windows XP as well. But when I open them by Wordpad or Notepad, I cannot read the text in the files at all (the text is displayed in unintelligible symbols) but I can read them in the IFS directory with IBM i EDTF command or from WRKLNK menu option 5. I suspect this may have to do with code page setting of the files but I have no idea on what specific action I should take to make these file readable in Windows by Notepad or Wordpad.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Satid S.Markus
I later asked this question to myself also and tried FTPing them in text mode with a few specified code page conversion settings of IBM i FTP server and the files are more readable but not for all their contents.
But then I had a faint memory of a freeware Windows editor tool that I used to have long ago and spent some times to retrieve its name from my memory and found that its is now called EditPad Lite. I downloaded it and found that it supported displaying many text encoding schemes which also includes a few code pages of EBCDIC scheme. After I switched the encoding support of EditPad Lite to EBCDIC code page 500 (I displayed the file's attribute in IBM i to look at their code pages), I could read all these files.
I recommend this free tool as it may be useful for some of you as well. -
IFS Portlet Auto Login, how?
Does anyone know or can suggest a way for the IFS Portlet to auto login, using a guest account.
IFS ver. 9.0.1.1 (Win2K)
iAS ver. 1.2.2.2 (Win2K)
Thanks in advance. To login straight to iFS:
http://myserver:7777/ifs/files/ifs/webui/jsps/login.jsp?step=try&action=Login&userName=myusername&passWord=mypassword
To login to iFS and redirect to a document:
in the iFS, in root\ifs\webui\jsps make a copy of
PortletLogin.jsps, call it MyPortletLogin.jsps. Open it in JDeveloper, change the lines:
from -
String url = request.getParameter("forward");
url = url+"&"+IfsPortletRenderer.SUCCESS+"="+token;
response.sendRedirect(url);
to -
String url = WebUIUtils.getUTF8Parameter(request, "Forward");
response.sendRedirect(url);
Then call it from a browser:
http://myserver:7777/ifs/files/ifs/webui/jsps/MyPortletLogin.jsp?step=try&action=Login&userName=myusername&passWord=mypassword&Forward=MyPathToTheDocumentToLaunch -
Hi,
How can we set up the ifs to log all the user info as to when they logged in and logged out? This is for 9ifs (9.0.2.0.0).
thanks,
DGI havent really gone through the logs in:
$ORACLE_HOME/ifs/files/log
Perhaps there is something in there, if not check out:
$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_iFS_files/log
There might be some sort of information in the log files there. -
How to use iFS?? After installation complete..
I installed 9i iFS successfully, also configure OMS, iFS domain without any problem. When I type 'http://:7777/ifs/files' browser change address to 'http://:7777/ifs/files/ifs/webui/jsps/login.jsp' and browser show nothing..
And if I type 'http://:7777/ifs/portlet', it shows as below
Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.
Checking for components:
Oracle XML parser: detected
Oracle JSP: detected
Recognizing initArgs: Usual initArgs are provider_root and sessiontimeout.
provider_root: /usr2/u01/oracle/product/9.0.1/9ifs/settings
sessiontimeout: 1800000
Is this means "it's working"?? What is next step I should do??iFS Manager is installed with Oracle 9iFS.
You can start iFS Manager from OEM by right-clicking on the
domain and selecting Related Tools. Or, you can start it by
running the ifsmgr.bat file in the 9iFS/bin directory. -
