IFS problem in OEM
I've installed OCS 903 on Solaris 8, when I wish to start the service from the OEM Page -> System Componenet -> "iFS_xxx:1521:storage.xxx:IFS_IAS", I got this error "Servlet error: Renderer failed: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError" appeared at below the button "Set Local Componenets". Anyway to fix it?
I'm running Xvnc on port 2, I can access to other system component with no problem, just the IFS given me the error msg.
1 the service_name parameter of your database is not orcl.
2 The database isn't open, so the database didn't register itself with the listener
3 You didn't set up static registration of the database in listener.ora (required in 9i) so you don't have other mechanisms to connect.
Apart from that: this very question has been asked at least 1 milliion times.

Hi,
I have two UTF-8 encoded xml files on a Windows 2000 client and are trying to add them to iFS.
The iFS version is 1.1.9.0.7 running of Oracle 8i version 8.1.7.1.1 on an NT4 SP6. I have set IFS_JAVA_VERSION=1.2 to use the Oracle 8i Apache JDK. The database was created with the utf-8 character set.
The problem is as follows:
The two utf-8 encoded files are identical with the exception that one of the files have the utf-8 byte order mark (BOM) EF BB BF whereas the other does not have the BOM.
When I load the file with the BOM using the filesystem or browser upload, with the parse option, I get the following error:

I have loaded the XDK for PLSQL 9.0.2.0.0A into the database and replaced the original %ORACLE_HOME%\lib\xmlparserv2.jar with the one distributed in this XDK.
Does anyone have a suggestion what to do?

There are two final products. That is one is requirement of Oil Cans and other one is requirement of Oil Drums. So, there should be two Finish materials. "Oil Can" and "Oil Drum"
For Oil you can maintain the Base Unit of Measure as "Litres" and give other unit conversions in both Cans and drum. i.e 1 Can - 5 Litrs and 1 Drum = 200 Litres.
You always get the requirement of Oil either in Drum or in Cans only !!!
So, you can generate the Production requirement either in Cans or in Drums. Based on the total requirement of oil either in drums or in cans, you can get the Net requirement in Litres to manufacture.

you can maintain BOM for each finish materials as per the Base unit of Measure.

You can generate the requirement for Both Drums and Cans and finally get the net requirement of Oil in Litres.

You can have a sale order for either drums or cans or both.

I have A problem with OEM for DB 10.2.3 with Windows 2003 server
I installed the Oracle DB on win2003 server VMware Image and after the installation finish and everything okay , When I open the OEM it give me blank white with no login interface where is the problem ?? is that from the virtual Machine or this have a solution from the OS ????
well i found the files, but even i don't think a locked of user could make this problem okay another question is installing Oracle DB in win2003 server The OEM work fine there ??
I want to check this whether a VIrtual machine problem or win2003 server problem ???
So if i could know that I will not try with the system and try to install the database normally....

Hi there,
I frequently experience Problems when I try to start the OEM Console 9.2.0.1 on a Server running MS Windows Server 2003 R2 SP1. The first dialog opens, prompting me to choose Standalone Mode or Management Server Login. After making my choice nothing happens. The corresponding jrew task just hangs. Sometimes I need up to 5 tries to start the OEM Console, which opens up eventually, leaving me with lots of dead jrew tasks to remove. Sometimes it works on first try. I couldn´t figure out any cause for this behaviour. As i said, sometimes it works at once, sometimes I need a lot of patience. There are no error mesages, nothing in the system log no clue whatsoever ...
Any Ideas ?

ChristianI don´t use a Management Server, so I always start in Standalone Mode. And yes, I have the OEM on my Client too. Strangely, I have no Problems on the Client, only on the Server. Sometimes I need to work directly on the Server and it is much more convenient to have an OEM there as well (that is, if it starts ...)

I don't know if Oracel has noticed these problems. But they will kill me. Anybody has any good idea?
1. Authentication: When I use SMB, I have to be very careful to handle a user account in Windows and another one in Oracle 9iFS. If one is missing, OK, you CANNOT use SMB. It is very weird that the password in the Window account can be different from that in Oracle 9iFS, but still runs well through SMB. Even a user has no previlege in your 9iFS, but if there is another 9iFS user with the same account name, he can do what the 9iFS user does. Also, maintaining two accout systems will cause more problems.
2. Stability: When I used SMB some time ago, for some reason I can't open a restricted folder, as I should be. Later, I found that I becomes a "Guest" user at that moment, but when I disconnect it, and re-mapping the network drive, everything runs well again. Can I forbid the "Guest" account? If a connection is lost or authentication fails, let the network error be reported. It may not be good to use "Guest" automatically, that puzzles all the users.From the post you referred to.

Hi,
I installed the Oracle database version 10.1.0.2.0 on my laptop with Windows XP professional edition.
My problem is when I connect on another network (another domain that the oracle was installed) the dbconsole service is down(and I cant work with OEM on the browser). The same situation if I'm not connected on the network.
So to start the dbconsole service I need to connect on the same domain that the Oracle database was installed.
Any idea to solve this problem?

Problem with OEM backing up on windows system.

I have a problem with backing up with a specific user.
I am currently running various "test" db's and am planning to back them up.
The Setup:
Host OS is windows 2003 server s2
Grid control 10.2.0.1
Database 10.2.0.2
Target Db is running on a windows 2003 server
The Situation:
From grid control I locate the db in question and go to the maintenance page and the backup settings. First of all I want to test the backup using the tab. Before this of course I enter the Host OS credentials into the system, let’s say "jamie", and add the appropriate password. By this point I have made sure that the user "jamie" is in the local security policy setting "log on as batch job" and that is in the group ora_dba (This is on both the machine I am backing up from and the target db machine.). For security reasons I have limited the share folder location to the user "jamie", making sure that sharing and security has the appropriate privileges to access the share.
I run a test backup using the tab within backup settings and await the results. The results come back unsuccessful. Reading through the log I see that the path to backup share is denied.
So to further the test I change the privileges within the share to "everyone" and that is for both sharing and security, just to see whether or not it’s the path itself rather than restrictions to the user. It is then a success. I checked to see who actually owned the file that was used within the test. It belonged to the local system on the target db, not to the user that I had specified within "Host OS Credentials".
Can anyone explain to me why and what is the reason behind putting in Host OS Credentials when the agent that is committing the back up is using the local domain system user account. I am aware that the Agent is part of a service within windows and belongs to the local domain. Ergo, why have host credentials.
And can anyone help me out with getting round this predicament if I still want security within the systems. I can’t just leave access to the share under "everyone", that'd be a really big hole in the system?!

Problem with OEM in 11g R2 Production database

We are getting the below problem when trying to start the DBCONSOLE but when i check the status it is showing as running as shown below.

Problems with OEM after changing a database's hostname
I am having a whole pile of trouble after changing the hostname of an Oracle server 10g R1 -- it's actually 10.1.0.3.0 x86_64 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 server.
Specifically, I had a server called "foo" on which I installed 10g R1, with the SID and service ID both "BB8PROD". Then I realized that I had to rename the server to "bar", which I did (via /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/hosts).
Then, I edited $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora and $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora to reflect the new host names. I restarted the listener and the database, both of which came up fine.
However, when I start OEM via "emctl start dbconsole"), it still gives me the management URL of http://bar.domain.name:5500/em/. Obviously, that's the <i>old</i> hostname and not the new one. If I visit that URL (which I can keep alive via a CNAME in DNS), then I get the following message despite the instance running just fine in the background:
"Database: BB8PROD
The database status is currently unavailable. It is possible that the database is in mount or nomount state. Click 'Startup' to obtain the current status and open the database. If the database cannot be opened, click 'Perform Recovery' to perform an appropriate recovery operation."
It seems that OEM doesn't know where to find the instance since I changed the name in the listener and tnsnames files. I've tried using <tt>emca -r</tt> to OEM start on the correct hostname (i.e., bar) but even when I do that, it still can't connect to the database.
I found this URL about changing port numbers and the associated XML files that OEM calls, but that didn't solve my issue. I've looked online for help, and most of the articles I've found are about 10g R2, where OEM seems easier to reconfigure.
So, when changing the hostname of a database, what am I supposed to do to OEM to have it recognize the changes?

I do not have a direct answer to your question, however , I am using an ECC6 system and I checked the two tables that you mentioned (SRGBTBREL & SRRELROLES). SRRELROLES has 3.8 million entries and SRGBTBREL has 2700 entries.
I would talk to your authorizations people to see if there is a generation or maintenance step that needs to be performed.

First look at things the other way round - if you have free memory in the shared pool, that means you have memory you are not using, why do you want to increase the amount of memory you are not using ?
Unless you can see a performance problem relating to a memory shortfall in the shared pool then you don't need to increase it. In fact, you could find that you introduce performance problems by increasing the shared pool if you are not making good use of shared SQL throughout your system.
Check for things like time lost on library and shared pool latches, CPU spent on parsing and "hard" parsing, successful use of the session cursor cache before worrying about the 1% free.

I had IFS working ok. Haven't tried it in a couple weeks. Installed the 8.1.6.1.0 patch for 8i on Solaris. I can still map an IFS drive through my windows client, can get documents but can't write new files out there. Get the error: Error Copying File. Cannot copy image1.jpg: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and filename.

Problems installing OEM Cloud control 12c in Oracle Linux 6.X

I'm triying to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud 12c in a Oracle Linux 6.4
Looking at the installation documentation in in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624/preinstall_req_packages.htm#CHDEJAFA it sys that I need the packages :
glibc-devel-2.5-49-i686 (This is a 32-bit package)
glibc-devel-2.5-49-x86_64 (This is a 64-bit package)
But I cant find them in the yum repositories.
If I query to my linux wihch version of glibc-devel are installed the output is
[root@emc tmp]# rpm -qa |grep glibc-devel
glibc-devel-2.12-1.107.el6.x86_64
And if i try to install it i receive an error compiling ins_sqlplus.mk due to ld because it can't find crt1.o

a) If this is em 12.1.0.1 then its a know issues to us which is fixed in next release ( you can refer bug:13833746 from MOS or open an SR to get more detail on this bug)
Run this below to make usre you have the packages.

glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(i686)
glibc-devel-2.12-1.80.el6(x86_64)
Checking the pre-requisites step fails as it is looking for i386 instead of i686. (On OEL6, prefix i686 denotes the 32 bit package - and not i386). If the 32 bit and 64 bit glibc-devel packages are present on the system ( check it manually) this Warning can be safely Ignored. Continue with the installation. If you are not sure, pls log an SR with Oracle support and they will help you. Donot ignore the warning in case of any doubts, work with support to get it solved. If you ignore the warning and packages are not on the host then you will get linking error during the install.
b) If this is em 12.1.0.2, pls log an SR and send me the SR number.

All the checks are successfull and I don't understand why its trying to copy from "/", is it a bug ? I am instlling it as oracle user, I don't get any errors on the installation screen but it gets stuck at 20% and nothing happens afterwards

Having a problem accessing OEM 10g application server control console!
Hi everyone,
I just installed AS 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Forms and Reports Services Standalone on a Windows 2003 machine. The installation went fine, the instance was created successfully.
I started all the services, when i try to access EM :
http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:18100. I get a blank screen.
I can get to the AS welcome screen by using http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:80, but when I click on the link to log on to Oracle Enterprise Manger 10g Application Server Control. I still get a blank screen.
I checked the port numbers in port.ist.ini and the port for
application server control port =18100.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

instance name and isa_admin password.
I tried to use the instance name as the username it was not accepted.
