Ifsconfig : IFS 1.1.9 & RedHat 7.1 problem

Hi,
I'm currently trying to install a new development platform using the latest goodies (RedHat 7.1, ifs 1.1.9, latest IBM 1.3 JVM and so on).
Using the official RedHat workaround (+ unset LANG) Oracle and IFS both install fine.
However when I try to run ifsconfig on a newly created base it chokes on the + copying files into the repository ; stage (no dead processes, no core, the install just gets an eternity to go nowhere)
IfsConfigOut.log stops at :
copying webUI files into iFS...
creating file: [index.html] --> into folder: []
That's a pity since it's hardly the more difficult part of the install.
Any idea to get it to work ?
Nicolas

Did you have something particular in mind ? There is an awfull lot of trace files once it's enabled:(. Anyway, here are some results :

  • Application Server 8.2 on RedHat Linux configuration problem

    Hello,
We have OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4),
    sun java 1.5.0,
Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.2 (build b06-fcs),
    cpu : Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz,
    ram : MemTotal: 2073848 kB,
    hdd : 2x SATA hdd 36Gb,
    NIC : 2x 1Gb/s LAN.
We have problem with standart Sun Application Server Configuration on Linux.
Even AdminGui application doesn't work properly.
    Some times, AdminGui application returns
Unabled to handle pre-compiled JSP '/jsp/LogDetail.jsp'. Expected pre-compiled classname: 'org.apache.jsp.jsp.LogDetail_jsp'.
Some time on browser we have "The page can not be displayed" exception and so on.
We deployed our JSF web application on this server and have same problems with our web application. In my opinion it looks like Linux or Sun Application Server misconfiguration, but I don' t know Idea where to look.
    Help me please.

As you already noticed, RH Linux 8.0 and 9.0 are not on the list of officially supported platforms for Application Server 8.1, but you should still be able to install and run on those Linux versions without major issues.
Follow generic Linux installation instructions, if you do run into some problems take a look at this article which describes some common workarounds, specifically section titled "Problem: My Linux distribution is not on the list of officially supported platforms for J2EE 1.4 SDK":

Check the version of the ODBC driver you are using. This is probably the issue.

  • IFS and sendmail on Linux

I've installed iFS 1.1 on RedHat 6.2. I've configured IMAP, FTP, SMTP protocols.
I'm able to connect to the IMAP server via
Outlook Express and other clients, but I'm unable to send mail both to local system users and iFS users.
My sendmail.cf is the one generated by the iFS setup.
I've configured the domain name for the computer and the e-mail address into IFS.
Where I try to send mails I got user unknow.
The strange thing is that I got user unknow also for local system user (like root).
My SmtpServer.log doesn't report anything and it seems it isn't called by sendmail to check the iFS user.
If I try to telnet to port 2500 I got:
    421 server-oracle.inteltec.it/10.1.254.110 Service not available for localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1
I'm using sendmail 8.9.3 installed with redhat 6.2 and Jdk 1.2.2.
    What can I do ?

My MX record is ok, just because I'm sending e-mails to the FQDN for the host and not to the domain.

My /etc/hosts now contains localhost for 127.0.0.1 first was
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost.
It doesn't work even with this change.
    iFS version = 1.1.5.0.0.
It is strange, if I try
Mail root without FQDN it works.
If I try Mail root@FQDN it says unknow user (root is the local system account)
If I try Mail system@FWDN I expected it logs something in the SmtpServer.log but instead, I got user unknow and no log.
    What's the problem ?

  • Installing on Redhat Linux 7.1?

    Hello.
I know Redhat Linux 7.1 is not officially supported, but I want to know if it's possible to install the Sun ONE Application Server 7 on this OS.
The reason I ask this is that the installer is giving me problems. It stops during installation with the message "installation stopped or aborted". The logs show a package conflict between some of the packages from the App Server installation (no other packages are mentioned). The portions of the App Server that were installed are then automatically uninstalled.
    I'm using default install directories.
Since other posters here seem to have trouble with the installer and other versions of Redhat, perhaps my problems are not OS related at all...
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I think you want "oracle.ifs.clients.webui.resources.JspResources", not "oracle.ifs.clients.webui.resources.JspResourcesID".
The ID file only has static strings in it.

From windows server, I create a Map Network drive, setting an AS/400 user  and password. Then I can see the IFS folder on AS/400. The problem, is that I only can use that drive  when I  am logged on Windows server with the user that I have created the drive.
I need that the drive is  always available  for the windows server, in order that a SAP instance that runs in the windows server can use that drive. I need to use that drive in Tr. OAC0 for Basic path and Archive path.
Perhaps, is there another option of Mapping a network drive?
Some ideas, how I can do that?

    Hi Eduardo ,
I would think if you set up the network drive with the <SID>ADM user ID or <SID>NN user ID/password, it may be more helpful as the SAP system runs under those user ID's...Creating these User ID on windows with the same user name/password will also help.
But before we get on to that.I believe you are trying to set up DMS/archivelink on a file based system.
Why don't you do it on MAXDB ? That is much more stable and will give you probably better managebility and performance.
In a file system , there would be one folder created for each document..
Its gets messier very easily...huge number of folders..
Just to let you know, content server as far as I know, is not yet supported on iseries.
    Thanks

  • Exclusive locks on IFS tables

We have a servlet application that accesses IFS 9.0.1.1 via the IFS API.
We are having a problem where sessions are putting an exclusive lock on certain SYS_LOBnnnnnnnnn objects which (in turn) prevents other sessions from gaining an exclusive lock on the ODM_DOCUMENT table.
Today, the following statement (issued by some IFS API call) was causing an exclusive lock which was never released:
    update odm_document set READBYOWNER := 1 where id = :2
This statement put an exclusive lock on the SYS_LOB0000046893C00006$$ object and that lock was never released and we had to kill the session.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

The mappings when run does acquire an exclusive lock on the target table and yes it does only when it is run in set based mode, this is absolutely true. If you run a mapping in set based mode and loading some data in millions it takes an exclusive lock on the target table. You can verify it by querying the v$lock table, or by using the session browser in any of SQL querying tools.
The problem can be overcome by running in row based mode as suggested by you, but when data volume is huge I dont think the row based mode gives a satisfactory preformance.
Anyways, thanks for all your suggestions. Lets see if I can find any other way out.

  • How to get Printing in Windows 7 via PDF to work

I have just installed SSGD on a 32 bit RedHat without any problems. I need access to Windows 2008 and Windows 7 VM's running in a VMware farm.
If I connect from a Windows 7 Client running IE8 and Java to the windows server, I get the right PDF printers! Universal PDF viewer and Universal PDF

But if I try to connect to one of my Windows 7 VM's i'm not getting my PDF printers!
I'm running SSGD in latest version 4.50!

AW> Hi Henry. My comments are preceded with AW>.
I upgraded my oracle client from 8i to 9i. I am trying to connect to 9ifs server running on different machine using Ifs api.
When i use the following url in IfsDefault.properties then i get the exception("ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME ") while creating LibrarySession
    IFS.SERVICE.JDBC.DatabaseUrl=jdbc:oracle:oci8:@MYEST
Note: TNDPing works fine for MYTEST service. When i was using the oracle 8 client + drivers i have no problem conneting to 9ifs using the above urlAW> This problem should also manifest through SQL*Plus.
AW> You should compare your TNSNAMES.ora and your SQLNET.ora from Oracle8 versus Oracle9i, and see what the differences are. There may be a typo, or you may need to append ".world" to the end of your service name. Ask the SQL*Net people for more help on this.
Everything works file if use the following url in ifsDefault.properties file
    IFS.SERVICE.JDBC.DatabaseUrl=jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbmachine:1521:MYTEST.
My question is it ok to use thin driver instead of oci driver for ifs connection. Would it cause any problem when i move my java code to production machine and use the thin driver for ifs connection AW> Unfortunately, the thin driver is not certified. There are performance problems when retrieving large documents across the net, and there have been unconfirmed instability problems.
    AW> Hope that helps.
