Ignore Folder(s) when refreshing music library?

I have the e71x and I was wondering if there was a way to control which folder the music player searches through... I sync using wmp and it saves my music to E:\Music and I only really want it to refresh the list by looking in that folder.. or else it picks up all my ringtones and adds it to the library...

On my phone I can't leave it as a system folder as for some reason I get the same track numorous times when in the ringtone selection screen. It also hides it from third party apps so that is also a bummer.
But Setting it as a system folder, then refreshing the library and then setting it back to a normal folder works perfectly fine for me. 2 extra steps.. but it saves me from building a new playlist everytime I want to listen to all songs.

weird very weird. today i did this again today after already being unsuccessful earlier. exactly the same thing as i have done before, exactly. didn't try to import. didn't say damaged library, copied everything in including date. have tried it about 10 times no luck. today it just worked.
how weird is that?

No "Refresh Music Library" Option In N85

I Bought An N85 Yesterday With The Firmware Version Of 11 something,
Now The Thing Is That I Updated The Firmware Via PC to 20.175 And Now In The Music Player Menu, I Can't Find The Option Refresh Or Refresh Music Library...I Am Like **bleep**??
Does Anyone Know About This Kind Of Problem?

I've had the same problem with my N85 after upgrading it to the latest firmware v30.019, the Refresh Library function is missing. Went hunting on the web and found the following, worked for me. Have yet to add music to see how it refreshes but it did clear down the original music list. Will try adding music via the Nokia Music Application to see if that will do a proper refresh... in the meantim, hope this helps anyone who needs to manually sort their music player listings.

I tried to transfer some music with the Nokia Music Manager to the phone, and from some reason the transferring is stopped, and i have got a failure message. After i tried to refreshing the music library on my phone and when i do this, the music player is switching off everytime. I can not delete now, the bad musics from the phone, and i cant open a "Now playing" folder and i have got a little symbol above the music title. This is a playlist symbol with a key.
Can You help me in this question?

Hello, thanks for Your reply. I have checked zhe space on my card. just 100 Mb used from 512 Mb. When i delete the music files, it can not open any tracklist either. If i loading back the original files,(which were in the damaged track list) in this case it is opening the old tracklist and playing this files. Not any other. If i give any more music to this tracklist, it doesnt matter, it is playing just the original 51 piece mp3, which are in the damaged list. If any file missing from this list, it is just jumping to the neyt track.
Im an IT programmer and i never ever have seen the same symptomes.:?!

Refreshing music library DONT works

hi, i am using 5730xm i just brought it 4 days ago.
it works perfectly well when i transfer songs from my computer to the phone, however when i refresh the music library, the songs WILL NOT be updated. i used the search function on the phone and search for the songs, they are there but i dont know where is it located at. because i cant find it in the music library.

have you tried copying the songs directly to the root folder of the memory card on your phone via the Mass Storage connection mode. then try refreshing the music library. i haven't had any problems doing it that way at all.

ITunes Crashes when importing Music Library

my Hard drive crashed but i have backup of my music and the music library ( from itunes 9)
i want to import the music library to itunes 10 ( to have my playlists back) but when i start importing it crashes.
also, do i have to put the music back in the music folder first and then import the music library or what are the correct steps to do i?

I copied my bakcup itunes folder to the new itunes folder and everything seamed ok. But with time itunes asks me for the location of some songs... and they are a lot. I also had a problem that the songs i found where moved to the itunes/media/music ( new in itunes 10,) and i had everything in itunes/music ( as in ituens 9) what can i do to fix the file search path ? changing one by one takes a lot of time

Bug in the Refresh Music Library - N97 V21

I wanted to add just one new song onto my N97, it was a song that I heard on the radio and liked so I purchased it on iTunes added it to a playlist and transferred it to my N97 using NMT. This all went fine until I tried refreshing the music library, no matter what I did the refresh would not find the additional song. I checked the transfer using YBrowser and sure enough the song had been transferred and the playlist had the new song added (I could even play it in the file browser) but this would not update in the music player.
To resolve this I had to delete all 4.7GB of music off my N97 (including the playlists) using NMT then disconnect the phone and refresh the library, the music library then displayed 0 songs. Then using NMT I had to reload all of the music and refresh the library, this time it worked.
As you can imagine deleting and reloading 4.7GB (thankfully I don't have more music on my phone) of data takes quite a bit of time, all to add just one new 8MB song. Outrageous!
Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyone else getting errors when importing Music Library music into non-native apps?

I have had a bunch of Music Production apps On my iPad for a long time and all the way through iOS four iOS 5 they worked just fine importing songs from my iPod library on my iPad and my iPhone however all of a sudden after the iOS six update they do not any longer seem to have the ability to import these songs. It appears to be a universal problem across ALL non-native apps ... On songs that are DRM-Free. I have specifically tried importing tracks that have imported before with no problems, downloading new copies of the same tracks, and purchasing new DRM-free content in the iTunes Store. None of which will work. My devices are not jailbroken, or altered from factory in any way, I just purchased a new iPhone 5 and a new iPad 3 and neither of them are allowing me to import these tracks. I have tried:
AnyTune / AnyTune HD
Vocalive (paid version) from IK Multimedia
Amplitube / Fender Amplitube from IK Multimedia
ISequence Pro HD
Studio HD
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I have -- on a few apps -- been shown the "Convert this song to a different format and try again" dialog, and I can import songs if I use my laptop and a browser, but I can't seem to import any song directly from the Music Library stored locally on my iPad or my iPhone.

Well, if iTunes is running, I figured out that you can drag the folder where the wav files are directly onto the main portion of the iTunes screen. This will
import the wav files into iTunes. Then group select the new song
entries and use "convert selection to AAC" from the Advanced menu.
There may be a way to convert without creating double entries for the
songs (I think that's the way you have to do it in iTunes: hence my attitude that iTunes is convenient in some respects, but less than clear in other respects..in other words, it's not a perfect program), but I delete the wav tracks after the conversion.
This is what I've gleaned from using iTunes a bit and from having been advised by friends. So, other than using a third-party freeware like X Lossless Decoder to convert music files before moving them onto iPod, apparently this is what you have to deal with when using the iTunes program.
If any Apple people are reading this, I would personally like the iTunes "importing" and display functions to be clearer and less cumbersome to use (like that third-party freeware). iTunes seems to be easy enough to use if you're importing music from a CD, but measurably less so if you just want to convert music files residing elsewhere on the computer's hard drive.

Refreshing music library

Hello, I am trying to transfer music and photos from my mac and it's becoming i tedious and tiresome process. I transferred all files and had a warning come up on my computer saying i would need to refresh the music library to access files. I cannot do this. I have looked in the users guide and there is no mention of this function. When i look up the help menu on the it provides steps to refresh that aren't available on my phone. Please help...

Banshee crashes when rebuilding music library

Banshee started crashing on me whenever it went to the next track, either manually or when it was just time to move on in the playlist. Looking around I found that usually it was due to a corrupt database and the simplest way to fix it was just delete or rename the database file in ~/.config/banshee-1/ and have the program rebuild it.
So I did that (renamed the whole folder and started over) but now the program crashes very early on in the music library building process. Here's the output of the console:

ITunes 11 annoyance-when in music library and change views (clicking on Movies or iTunes Store, etc.) then go back to Music, it always resets me back to top of my Music library rather than the artist I was looking at prior.

For example, I am looking at Slash's Apocalyptic Love and click the arrow to Show in iTunes Store. I then click back on my Music Library and instead of seeing Slash's album still, iTunes has reset my view and I will now be back in the letter A's. I then have to scroll down or hit "S" to get back down in my list to find the Slash album again and return to what I was doing. Minor inconvenience, but an annoying quirk.
Previous versions of iTunes kept your place and remembered where you were in the music list.
Anyone experience this or have a solution that I'm missing?

I complained about this the day iTunes 11 came out, they clearly don't give a hoot. It's super annoying, cause I get a lot of free music and then I listen to it in one playlist, look for it in my library to delete it, when I switch back, I have to scroll all the way down again again. And god forbid you are in your library when it switches songs while you're looking at something, cause it automatically switches to the song playing, and then you have to scroll back to where you were. Seems to me if it's a feature it used to have, it shouldn't be too hard to add it to an update...

How can I retain original data when copying Music Library to 2nd computer?

I created my iTunes music library (about 1300 songs) on my Power Book, and I want to maintain a complete backup on my new Mac Pro. I tried this by copying the entire Music folder from the Power Book via firewire to the Mac Pro. However, iTunes on the Mac Pro launched a blank Library page. So I used the Import command to load the Library from the copied files.
This seems fine except the Date Added column listed the current date for the entire library. For various reasons, I need the original Date Added for each song, along with any and all notes, ratings, and edits on every song.
Is there a way I make iTunes on the Mac Pro recognize and open the original Library files instead of starting a new document?

Unfortunately, I did not succeed.
After following all the steps, the results were the same as before. Launching iTunes on the Mac Pro produced a blank library. So I went to a folder in the copied iTunes Music file and clicked on a song, which launched iTunes with the song ready to play. But it had no play count, none of the original Date Added information, no ratings. It was as if I had just purchased 1300 songs within the last 15 minutes. Therefore it made no sense to waste time "importing" the entire old library into the new one, because the "vital statistics" would be missing.
I repeated the exercise several times to see if I made a mistake. Once, after navigating to the "location where you would like your new Music folder to be created, " I bypassed the New Folder button and just clicked the existing empty folder. That didn't work. Then I created a folder and named it "iTunes Music folder new." The song files went into that folder okay, but the data didn't.
I tried moving the folder from the Hard Drive location (where it landed by default after I created it) into the User file's Music folder where the old iTunes Music folder was located. Still didn't work.
I performed these operations after connecting a firewire cable between my Power Book and the Mac Pro. I used the Power Book as the host computer, because it contains the original library. I started the Mac Pro in Target Disk Mode.
I launched iTunes in the Power Book and followed the transfer instructions, as described above.
I think I've spent no less than six hours trying to accomplish what ought to be a straightforward task. I've been using Macs since the mid-1980s, but this iTunes stuff tops my list in sheer frustration. What am I missing?

Selecting any Playlist Folder lists the entire music library

I recently switched to a new computer from an old one (both were XP Professional, iTunes version was not completely up-to-date on the older computer) and after migrating the old iTunes library and reconfiguring automatic playlists dependent on others, I found myself with a problem. Some of my playlists didn't show correct information, and after poking around for some time, I noticed every playlist folder, once selected or added as a dependency on an automatic playlist, listed the entire music library. Most of my affected playlists now depend on a workaround, and automatic playlist that corresponds to whatever the folders are supposed to list. This, however, is extremely inconvenient as I have one folder containing easily over a hundred playlists, the number of which increases nearly daily. As it happens, I have several playlists dependent of this folder. There is no workaround I can think of short of creating an automatic playlist with over a hundred separate rules, updated as the playlists grow.
Help would be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure how a screenshot would illuminate the issue. I can, however, try to explain this in simpler terms.
I have my playlists in their folders (the sort created by selecting File -> New Playlist Folder). I imported (through File -> Library -> Import Playlist) my music library from an other computer. The playlist folders imported showed every item in my library (automatic playlists didn't). Apparently, moving any playlist out of a folder fixes this problem.

Can't refresh music library [Nokia 5800]

This morning I added new music to my phone but it won't add to the music library...
Im choosing Refresh library, its starting to refresh and doing nothing for 5 minutes and still
0 file(s) added.
I tried to take the memory card out and restarting the phone but it didn't helped
this phone 2 weeks old

Although i had to customize all my personal settings again (the onse i remember)...
and it still has a few bugs.. listed below, but i am able to download music and the music library is refreshed MOST of the time, automatically...
One other issue i have, is that i have a PC that i havent loaded the Nokia Music Store software (and i dont wish to)..
but rather just keep downloading via my Nokia Phone. So i have the problem of not being able to sync (using either Windows media player or Nokia Music thingy) to my PC.. that is to say, the downloaded music on the Mokia phone is not able to be transfered to my PC...? Maybe its the protection / liense issue...

1. Music store still occasionally (usually after every album download) states im not using my registered license device
2. Refresh error on some downloaded songs
3. The Nokia will suddenly drop the wifi Nokia Music Store connection (app) and bring you to the menu
4. Now and then i get an error: Java not installed (so usually i log out and log in again to fix this)
5. Sometimes the Music Store browsing is very very slow...
6. there are more, but i think thats enough for now

Folder issues when importing to library

I've got a large cd library and I am using iTunes to put them all on a dedicated harddrive(B:), the only problem I'm having is how iTunes is creating folders.
When I go into B: then the iTunes folder, and I want a specific artists folder and a specific album. The problem is, like this... I find the Prince folder, but there's several other folders with one song by Prince & "whoever" from the album I'm looking for instead of the entire album being in one Prince folder with all his albums.
I use the file system to drag and drop songs onto my phone card and I don't want to hunt for every little song!
Is there a way to fix this issue about the file system?

What you are seeing is due to the way iTUnes stores files. As you know artist>album>track is default. If tracks on album have different artists then album will be split up. Several options available.
1. Set all tracks on album to be part of compilation. Files will then be stored in compilation>album>track.
2. Edit artist info to show same artist for all tracks in album. This will store files as artist>album>track like normal.
3. Change album artist info to be main artist for album. This will override sorting to store album under album artist name instead of split up by artist info.
