Ignoring alerts for some specific disks

Hi,
Just started as a total newbee to play with SMC3.6.1
I checked with local SUN support if we can let either the agent or the server exclude certain disks from being checked. The answer was that a bug prevents this, an RFE is opened.
In the mean time, can I achieve the same result by setting check-thresholds for an individual disk to extreme heights, so that it will never be reported ?
Any help is very appreciated !
Rob

Hi bgcitg,
In the mean time, can I achieve the same result by
setting check-thresholds for an individual disk to
extreme heights, so that it will never be reported ?Yes, if Sun says there's a bug preventing it from being excluded you can either set thresholds that will never be reached, or (in the same place - Attribute Editor -> Alarms tab) set a "Time Window" that can never occur. Something like "year = 1999" would prevent you from ever seeing an alarm from that piece of data.

  • How do I turn off all alerts for a specific email account

I want to disable all notifications for a specific email account and I can't find the options to do this. So basically I have 3 email accounts linked on my blackberry. I and I want to make it so that any time account #3 gets an email I don't get a red flashing light or a new message * anywhere. I case you're wondering I've funneled all those annoying promo adds to this one account. It's just that sometimes some of them actually have good deals so I want to be able to check them every now and then but it's seriously annoying when my red light is going off constantly. NEVER MIND! I found it, but I'm going to leave this here incase anyone else it looking for something like this. You go into notification profiles and change the settings for that profile. So it's :   Notifications -> Profiles -> Normal (or which ever one you want) -> Customize App Notifications -> Email Messages -> Select email account you want -> Turn off all notifications or modify them to your preference. It does suck that you can't just globally set it by email account. It seems you have to go through each profile and change the settings one at a time. Most people probably only have 3 though so it's not that big a deal #firstworldproblems. DOUBLE NEVER MIND! So the "solution" I mentioned above only seems to work for the LED indicator and the instant popup you that comes on the top of the screen when you get a new notification. I'm still getting the red "new email" star on the side bar when I do a quick look from the homescreen or an app. And the 3rd email account has a "new email" red star next to it as well. Hoping someone out there knows how to turn them off for a specific email account. Thanks. - Kbye

Hi, I am using German OS therefore maybe the items are called differently in English: 1) Go into the main menu 2) Select "Alerts" 3) select the Profile you like to adjust 4) Select App Alerts 5) Select Email 6) You sould see your 3 mail accounts listed 7) Select the one you like to "mute" and you can set everything (sound, LED, vibration etc. individually for this acount) Hope it helps Alex

  • How to suppress Log Shipping alert for a specific database?

I want to disable log shipping for a database temporarily.   I have disabled the backup job, copy job, and restore job created automatically when log shipping is configured for the database.  However, I cannot disable the Log Shipping alert
job since there are other databases configured for log shipping.   How can I suppress Log Shipping alert for specific database?  I don't want to disable the log shipping for the primary database since it will delete all jobs and history
related to the log shipping configuration at the primary, secondary and monitor server instances.

Too late but this is possible. We just need to set the value threshold_alert_enabled to 0 in the system table msdb.dbo.log_shipping_monitor_primary on the primary server and in msdb.dbo.log_shipping_monitor_secondary on the secondary server.
I just tested it out and it should work.
To test this out, perform the below:-
    1. Run exec master.sys.sp_check_log_shipping_monitor_alert will show the same error message that thresholds have been crossed. This is the same script used in LSAlert job.
Use something like the below command to edit:-
    2. Run the below to change the values:
    update msdb.dbo.log_shipping_monitor_primary
    set threshold_alert_enabled = 0
    where primary_database = 'XYZ'
Run this for all databases that needs to be excluded from monitoring.
    3. Run the script in step 1 again and it should run now.
Please mark the answer as helpful if i have answered your query. Thanks and Regards, Kartar Rana

    Dear all,
does someone have any idea, how could a posting period in ucmon be opened only for several specific user?
    Is that possible?

    Depending on the requirement
May be you can open it for a specific Cons Group(assuming User has authorization for that group)  which translates back to opening it for specific user only
If user needs to work on more than 1 cons groups & has authorization then a step by step approach  will help

  • Some specific Disk Setup Questions

Alright, I've read several articles, but I'm still slightly confused.  It's not too much, but just a simple matter of what difference an HDD and an SDD would make without any form of RAID.
    So, let's take the following:
C: Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for OS and Programs
D: 3TB Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s 7200RPM 64MB Cache Desktop Drive  OR   Samsung 1TB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for Source Media and Projects
E: Samsung 128GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for Pagefile and Media Cache
F: Samsung 128GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive  OR   Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for Preview and Exports.*
So, this is what I may be considering as a disk setup.  I don't have too much more money to spend than possibly what I have listed above, and I'm trying to determine what would be the best for After Effects and Premiere Pro, the two programs I'd main.
*One thing to note is that I would NOT keep the exports on that disk.  I would move them over to something else I already have for storage.  So, it's basically a matter of how much space should I have on that drive for preview files.
    So, here're my questions:
For the D: drive, what difference will the HDD I have listed make (remember, Ae and Pr would be READING from that drive) compared to the SDD?  See, I would prefer more space with the HDD, and like to spend less money, but if the other drives are all SSDs, will that HDD slow it all down?
How big are preview files supposed to be?  I've had bad experiences with them, due to my lack of knowledge at the moment, but I don't know; just for 1080x1920 HD video, what's a general size the preview files should be per minute?  (I also use several layers, so that could affect the size as well.)
If the preview files are generally fairly small when set up correctly (as in not a 40GB file per 3 minutes of 1080by1920 HD), could the E: and F: drives be run together in a RAID0?  Would that offer advantages over running them separately?  Or would the difference be negligible?
If it's better to run the E: and F: drives separately, should I use the 128GB drive for Previews/Exports or the 256GB drive?  I know that if I did RAID0 I'd have to use the 128GB.

Yes, it's true; I have no experience building systems at all.  However, I'm still unclear, entirely, on the whole HDD vs SSD thing.  Thank you for your information, but I'd still like to clarify some things.
I'm mainly trying to understand more about the performance aspect of all this.
Let's take the previously revised version and compare it to your suggested one.  I'll say what I think based upon what I believe to be correct, but I'm obviously missing some information here; that's where I want somebody to correct me.
    Version 1:
C: Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
for OS and Programs and possibly Pagefile
D: Samsung 1TB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for Source Media and Projects
E: Samsung 128GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
for possibly Pagefile and Media Cache
F: Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
    for Preview and Exports.*
*Take note, I'm putting the exports on a separate drive I already own and deleting them from the drive I originally wrote them to.
    VS:
    Version 2:
C: Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
for OS and Programs and pagefile.
D: HD RAID 0 array: 6x 1TB Barracuda 64MB cache RAID 0 array (x99 boards have LOTS of SATA ports)
So, let me get this straight here.  Correct me if any of the following statements are wrong.  I'll also have some questions associated with them.
Version 2 will be SIGNIFICANTLY slower than Version 1.  I'm assuming this because Version 2 is both an HDD and SATA instead of SSDs with SATA III.  However, I'm unsure of this since RAID 0 is being used in Version 2, unlike Version 1.
Version 2 will be MUCH riskier than Version 1.  I'm assuming this because it's RAID 0, and if one of those six drives fails, all the data is lost.  (However, since the programs are on C:, they will stay safe, along with the operating system.)
Version 2 is ALSO riskier due to the fact that I'm using HDDs instead of SSDs.  Or am I wrong, are SSDs riskier than HDDs?
Under Version 2, I'll have 1TB total to put source media, projects media cache, preview files, and exports on, while keeping the pagefile, OS, and programs on C:. (even though it's six disks)
This is what I'm understanding right now.  Please correct me if I'm wrong, or point out other suggestions.  One final thing, as well, that I'm also unsure of.
Now, I used to use Premiere Elements 11.  When I would create preview files for, say, a 13 minute HD video, the preview files (in total) would be under 1GB or just a little more.  What about Premiere Pro CC makes the file sizes so different?

  • Stop Disk Full Alerts for Time Machine disk?

    Hi there,
I have an alert set up on a Mac Mini server to notify me if a disk gets over 50% full. Unfortunately, this is warning me now that the Time Machine disk is getting over 50% full, which is to be expected. Is there a way to set it so I am only notified if the system disk is getting full?
    Thanks!

  • SCOM 2012 - how to setup alerts for specific IT groups.

Hello everyone - I have seen a few similar questions but never any specific answers.
Our IT department is split up in teams.  We have a Database team - Exchange Team - SharePoint Team - Web Team and others.
We currently run around 650 Servers for the department.  Exchange team for example will need to get alerts off of their 12 Exchange servers.  SharePoint team will need alerts off of say 22 servers and etc...
Is there "Anyway" to make sure they only get the alerts for their servers?
I recently setup a new group for our Web Team and they are getting SharePoint, Exchange, DPM and other alerts which they do not need to be getting.  Also I have noticed from this that the SharePoint and Exchange teams are not even getting all their
alerts since apparently we had to refine them so much so as not to get other alerts (thus causing them to miss many).  SCOM seems like a great package but it falls very short (from my limited experience with it so far) in being able to really customize
    alerts for IT environments.
Can you enable a group to get all alerts for a specific group of servers?
SharePoint uses IIS, Database, Windows OS etc....  If I set it up for this it gets all IIS, Database servers when I only want them to see the 22 servers - if I restrict it down then they miss alerts.  Sorry repeating myself now -
    Thanks for any help.
    Willis

    Hi,
"Can you enable a group to get all alerts for a specific group of servers?"
Yes you can. In Authoring, Group, create groups with the servers, e.g create an Exchange Group with all 12 Exchange servers. In Adminstration, Notifications, Subcricptions, create a subscription and in the "raised by any instance in a specific group" select
    the group (Exchange servers)

  • Generate PI alerts for Runtime exceptions in other SAP ERP system

    Hi All
We usually get alerts in PI Alert inbox.
For some specific interfaces, we will need to raise an alert to other SAP ERP system user.
Is there anyway generating this kind of exception?
    Thanks

    Hi Sai,
There are 3 ways you can do this.
    1) Like VJ said "sending an Email using mail adapter from with in a BPM" Which will be a little complex and preformance wise may be slow  but sounds neat .
    2) Use the Work Flow WS71000002 ( AlertSendWf ) to capture and trigger a RFC or a Mail to the concern system
For this you will require the services of a Workflow guy; but this will be fast and recommended if the error are being caught in a SAP to SAP landscape
    3) You can use this link to generate a group email this is what I have implemented in our landscape

  • Using WMI alert for mirroring in Sql server 2012

We are using mirroring in Sql Server 2012  and we are using WMI alerts for some of events such as Connection lost,Manual failover,...
In alert definition we have set the followings:
    Type: WMI event alert
    NameSpace:
    \\.\root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ServerEvents\MSSQLSERVER
    Query: select * from DATABASE_MIRRORING_STATE_CHANGE where State = 6
The alert is bing triggered correctly, but on email description instead of having meaningful explaination like 'Connection lost',We have the same query:
    Query: select * from DATABASE_MIRRORING_STATE_CHANGE where State = 6
We have used the same implementation in our Sql Server 2008 servers and it is working fine. This mashine (Sql Server 2012) is a new mashine.
I would appreciate if someone help me on this.AlsoI checked and 'Include body of e-mail in notification message' was already set.

  • Putaway Block in Storage Bin for any specific Material Code

    Hi Experts,
We have a problem, we have allowed mix storage, addition to stock in the storage type, our requirement is this, that we want to block one bin aa-01-01 for some specific material code xxxxx, but we want to allow putaway other material codes to that bin.
How can we achieve this. Can we use LS07 or some other solution. Please suggest at the earliest.
    Regards
    Ishu

    Hi,
In standard system, you can block one specific bin for the specific material with Putaway strategy "Fixed bin" by maintaining this bin in material master. It is unclear that you set "allowed mix storage" and again required material specific putaway in bin.
You can change "Mixed storage" indicator to blank. Which explains "___"  Mixed storage is not allowed
All storage units in a storage bin must contain the same material and batch (one quant).
If you don't want to change any of current setting you'll need to use the user exit and maintain custom table where you can maintain specific bin for the material for the warehouse. After determination of the bin to putaway in the standard code you can check if it is conflicting to the entry in your custom table.
    Hope this'll help.
    Regards,
    Sudhir

  • Not getting alerts for events in calendar.

I add an event in Google calendar and I see it appear on my iphone calendar. However, no alert appears for the event. I have an iphone 4 with the latest iOS 5.0
This is what I have tried so far...
    1) In Settings/Mail-Contacts-Calendar, I have Default Alert Time set to "At time of event."
    2) Time Zone Support is on and is set to the same time zone as my Google Calendar.
    3) The Notification Center is turned on for the calendar, set to alert style "Alerts."
    4) When I make an event, and it shows up on my calendar, I look at the details and see that it is listed as having no alerts. I don't want to have to manually add an iphone alert for every event.  Isn't that what adding a Default Alert time is supposed to do?
    Please, any suggestions will help.
    Thanks

Actually, not quite ditto. I am not using gCal. I have a CalDAV server, with two calendars served, my wife's and mine. Each of us is a delegate of the other. On iCal on her computer, she has "ignore alerts" set for all my calendars, and this works. However, she gets the alerts on her iphone. I cannot find an option to "ignore alerts" for the iPhone calendar app. What am I missing here?

  • Hide detailed navigation and Portal favorites windows for some roles?

    Hi ,
We want to hide Detailed Navigation Area and Portal favorites area for some specific  roles.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Subba Rao

    Hi,
    1. You have to create a seperate desktop.
    2.  Inside the desktop, the framework which you are assigning will contain Desktop innerpage, Masthead and Top level navigation page.
    3. You need to copy the desktop inner page and paste with different name (since it is a standard page)
    4. Now open the custom desktop inner page and remove the iviews what ever you dont want.
    5. So now your framework page will not have the detailed navigation anymore.
    6. Then we need to set master rule collection to load this desktop for a specific role using if... then  condition.
Finally the role will have only which ever the iviews you have selected in desktop inner page.
    Thanks,

  • Comparing workareas excluding some specific fields

    Hi all gurus,
a silly question, I know, anyway: in my requirement I have to compare different workareas in a loop cycle with a model workarea. The aim is to identify if a workarea in a loop differs from the model workarea except for some specific fields.
In example; the workarea A has 100 fields, and I assume that this workarea is equal to the model one (B)  if all the fields in A contain the same value that corrisponding field have in B except for fields 'guid' and 'p_guid', which can contain different values.
So, A is EQ to B if the other 98 fields are filled with the same values.
Actually I can build a sequence of comparing condition:
    IF A-field1 EQ B-field1 AND A-field2 EQ B-field2 ...
that's quite time-wasting and I wonder if there's a better solution to compare in the above described way.... a sort of exclusion for the compare operation maybe?
Sorry, I get that this is probably a very basic question, anyway I searched a bit without results.
    Thanks in advance.

If you could change the definition of data type then this comparision can be done in single statement.
    See example below.
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ty_d ,
              col01 TYPE char01 ,
              col02 TYPE char01 ,
              col98 TYPE char01 ,
            END OF ty_d .
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ty_dd .
INCLUDE TYPE ty_d AS d .    "this will enable to refer all COL01.. COL98 by name 'd'
    TYPES : guiid TYPE char05 ,
    END OF ty_dd .
    DATA : ls_dd1 TYPE ty_dd ,
           ls_dd2 TYPE ty_dd .
    ls_dd1-col01 = 'A' .
    ls_dd1-col02 = 'B' .
    ls_dd1-col98 = 'C' .
    ls_dd2-col01 = 'A' .
    ls_dd2-col02 = 'B' .
    ls_dd2-col98 = 'C' .
    IF ls_dd1-d = ls_dd2-d .
      WRITE 'EQUAL' .
    ELSE.
      WRITE 'NOT EQUAL'.
    ENDIF.
    ls_dd2-col01 = 'D' .
    IF ls_dd1-d = ls_dd2-d .
      WRITE / 'EQUAL' .
    ELSE.
      WRITE / 'NOT EQUAL'.
    ENDIF.

  • Define a Disk destination for a specific Protection group DPM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I currently have a DPM 2012 R2 Server with some protection groups created. Just recently added a new disk to the storage pool. I wanted to see if I can define a specific disk to a specific protection group?
I found this command:  Set-DPMDatasourceDiskAllocation and this parameter -DestinationDiskPool
But I'm not sure if that can help me out and how to use it with and existing protection group.
Can someone give me an example maybe or guide the correct way to do this? Do I need to create another disk pool and move the disk there? Is that even possible? I'm quite lost here, any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Eduardo Rojas

    Hi,
I don't really recommend this, but the only way to specify a physical disk (volume) to use when protecting a new data source is to use custom volumes.
    Defining Custom Volumes
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399012.aspx
How to Assign a Custom Volume for a Protection Group
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb809021.aspx
There are pros and cons to either approach, but some can be partially mitigated quite easily.
    1) Using existing disk configuration – 2-disks in a hardware raid-1 – no dedicated disk for DPM.
Pro - build in data integrity for the DPM storage pool and operating system.
Pro – No need to buy / install / maintain additional hardware.
Con – Using DPM Custom volumes on basic disks needs planning to get the volume sizes correct based on the retention range and data churn.
Con – miscalculating makes it difficult to correct later because you cannot grow volumes on basic disks unless you have adjacent free space.
Con – DPM cannot auto-grow custom volumes, so you will need to grow them manually if needed.
How to mitigate – convert the disk to Dynamic disk so the custom volumes can be manually grown (even in discontinuous space) if you miscalculate the sizes.
    2)  Adding an additional disk so DPM can have its own dedicated storage pool disk.
Pro – DPM can make the volumes automatically when adding data sources to protection.
Pro- DPM can autogrow if necessary, so it’s more hands off.
Con – Additional cost of hardware, installation and upkeep.
Con – No data integrity should the DPM storage pool disk fail.
This is easily recoverable to get new disk to be used by DPM, but you will lose all backups.
Hope this helps frame the debate.

  • Specific CCMS MTE class alert for SAP - DB2 connectivity

    Hi Friends,
Our BI application lost connectivity to DB2 today.
I am looking for the specific CCMS alert that would have notified us.
I have found the following in RZ20:  CCMS monitoring templates > Database > R3 DB Clients > [app server name] > Database Client > DBConnection > DB Server.
The name of the MTE is R3DBClientDBServer.
When I open the alerts for this MTE, they are all GREEN, which means that either 1) this isn't the right alert in the first place, or 2) there is some sort of bug and it is not working properly.
Can someone advise the proper CCMS alert to invoke for app>DB connectivity?
    Thanks much,
