IGrabber won't install on MacBookPro 2011

I use iGrabber to transfer my VHS tapes to CDs. It is version OSX 1.4.6 and I'm trying to install on my MacBookPro 2011 and it's telling me it can't install. It works fine on my iMac.

Did you upgrade your Hard Drive at some point? I discovered upon trying to upgrade my Intel Mac Mini to leopard that I had been using a HD with an Apple Partition Map, which was default on a HD upgrade I had installed. It worked fine with Tiger, but Leopard would not install. Leopard requires the GUID Partition Table on the hard drive. You can check it with disk utility.
If that is the case, my solution was to clone my drive to an external HD, reformat my internal drive with GUID, then clone back and install leopard. (if you do the straight upgrade, be careful to remove all APE application enhancers from you Tiger system 1st. I didn't & got the blue screen)

  • Leopard won't install on MacBookPro

I purchased the Leopard family pack, and installed Leopard without incident on an Intel iMac. However, on my MacBookPro, the installer cannot seem to find a valid disk to install Leopard on. The screen remains blank, and cannot continue. Strange, because no problems were discovered with the disk in Tiger (Disk Utility, Disk Warrior both).
There is 33 gigs of free space, should be plenty.
any thoughts as to cause/solution? I am puzzled.
    Thanks!

  • MS Office 2011 won't install under Mountain Lion

Today I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. However, my MS Office 2011 refused to run, didn't even start so I couldn't check for updates manually. I had it set to check for updates automatically by the way.
So I uninstalled MS Office and then reinstalled from the installation disk. But my iMac won't install it; it starts up the installation most of the times (although it sometimes spits out the disk without even trying) but after several tries it keeps telling me that the installation failed because there is no software to install.
    So frustrating!
How can I install it anyway? I really need it since all my documents are MS Office.

Thanks Eric, but I'd already found that procedure and this is exactly what I did. Didn't work, alas. Or rather, it worked alright since I've got no traces of MS OFfice on my Mac anymore. But it still won't install from the installation disk. Below is the error message, in Dutch. It says the installation failed due to an error in the installation program and that I should contact Microsoft.
    Pfff.
Everything worked fine under Lion. Should I give up on Mountain Lion and revert back to Lion?
    What did Microsoft say?

  • 2011s MacBook Pro won't install Yosemite neither reboot or boot into recovery mode.

Hello everyone, I've searched all around the web and didn't find a solution.
Sorry about my english, btw, I'm from Brasil lol!
I have a 2011s MacBook Pro, used to run Snow Leopard until 2 days ago, when I downloaded Yosemite and restarted the computer to run the installation.
During the process, it stopped at 22%, and said: FILE SYSTEM VERIFY OR REPAIR FAILED.
I tried to reboot on Macintosh HD as usual, but it's not possible, I can't unmount the HD to repair it, can't erase it and I'm a little desperate.
I have a good backup of important files on an external drive, so the best solution for me would be to format the HD again, with the Yosemite image which appears to be running at startup.
Command+ anything at startup doesn't work, probably because the Yosemite install is trying to run...
    Any suggestions???
    Thank you!

    Hey Vince,
I have the same or similar issue.  Please forgive my English, as I attended American Public schools
So last night, my MacBook Pro told me hey you want to download this free and amazing new OS called Yosemite?
(I'm adding to your post to hopefully grab more attention and then maybe grab a solution from someone out there..)
I thought yea, no, maybe, okay it's free, they say it is amazing-- why not?!?
So I downloaded and clicked okay to restart and install the new OS.......but it won't install the OS and I get stuck here on this screen.
I have tried restarting about 10 ties. I have tried quitting the install but it won't allow me to boot from Mac HD or my time capsule HD.  I tried going into the menu options above but it won't let me repair or reboot or anything to get my MacBook to work again.
It is pretty frustrating. I went from having a working MacBook Pro to having a nightlight.
Vince- if you get a solution or a fix, Please let me know.
    Thanks
    john

  • My Macbook Pro downloads software updates but it won't install them?

My late 2011 MacbookPro downloads software updates but when I try to install them, it tells me that it's not supported? The software is currently OS X Lion 10.7.5 and I tried upgrading a few things but it won't install. For example, I tried to get the latest update for iMovie, which is crucial for my studies,  but it just tells me to update my macbook which is driving me nuts!  Help please?

You would need to upgrade to Mavericks to upgrade iMovie to the version now on the App Store.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • Adobe AIR won't install - Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    "Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Well, I asked myself and verified that I am allowed to install any programs I wish to at will.
I even toyed with adding extra permissions for the .exe and shortcut [see below], to no avail.
I also checked your Adobe AIR installation troubleshooter section before posting. Unfortunately, none of the solutions 100% applied to my circumstances or OS, yet I tried a few anyway and had it confirmed by a Windows dialogue that I need not have bothered as it assured me that they weren't applicable in my case.
I found another thread like mine where somebody suggested creating a shortcut with an additional -uninstall parameter added to the .exe path. It didn't work.
I used Microsoft's Installation Cleanup Utility and that didn't work to "un-confuse" the installer either.
Do you have any more suggestions?
Adobe AIR came with the HTC Sync program for my phone, which appears to have dependencies on it where it won't completely work without it.
Thanks in advance for any input.
ps. I created a new thread because I couldn't find the "reply" button on a similarly unresolved thread regarding Adobe AIR installation issues on Windows 7.

I would like to say thanks to artrose54 and to playswithtech for their thoughtful responses to my problem. I finally figured out which number I was to delete, and then, having made a copy of the number in notepad, deleted it. Upon a restart to my computer I then was able to download adobe air 2.7. I found that I still could not download the shutterfly express uploader, however; so I applied the same approach. I went looking for the number in the registry that corresponded to the uploader. I deleted it; restarted the computer; returned to shutterfly; and then was able to download the express uploader. I am sure I will find other uses for Adobe Air in the future.

    Hi everyone,
Here is the fix that worked for me,
You need to go to start run and type in regedit
now press ctrl+f for find and type in "adobe air" without the quotes then click find next
the first entry it finds is the one I deleted, it is a long number on left side of screen that is greyed just right click and delete it
I then rebooted the computer and ran adobe air installation
and it worked with out a problem
The adobe air log file really doesn't tell u anything but where it tried to find the setup.msi file
but it doesn't exist because of the registry entry that needs to be deleted which is what causes the error
If u r not sure of editing the registry then maybe you know someone that can help you
I hope this helps you out it worked for me

  • MB Pro won't install os x mavericks after re-formatting

    Hi guys,
Basically, my macbook pro dec 2011 won't install mavericks os after I have formatted my mb.
What happens: with DU I checked the HD and no issues found, I formatted the macbook by using DU and erasing the HD (took about 4 hours - 3 times erase/overwrite procedure which was the second most safe way of erasing under options)..
I move on to install mavericks OS which at first asks me to login to my apple id, after which it says it will take 3 hours.. after an hour or so it starts saying 150 hours or whatever ridiculous number and it goes down and afterwards my mb just restarts itself..
Is my internal hard drive messed up physically or ??
    Thanks
    Max

Be sure to follow these directions carefully:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.
Now, you can upgrade if you need to.

  • 2.16 MBP trying to use 128gig SSD, system won't install

    I've got a 2.16 MBP with 2 gig ram. I have a g.skill 128gig SSD (non-titan) that I'm trying to use.
When the SSD is plugged in via USB, it mounts, erases, etc. like a disk should. When installed in the computer and I boot from the install disk, the system disk says that it can't install on the drive- both 10.4 and 10.5 versions. In giving the error it shows the hard drive, but with the red sign on it.
Under the disk aid on the system disk the drive mounts, verifies, etc. I talked to mac telephone support, and they (talked to a macbookpro champion) said that the sata II on the disk is incompatable with the sata I on the MBP. I've seen YouTube videos with the same architecture SSD's running on the same laptop. And, sata II is supposed to be backwards compatable. And... the replacement drives that apple lists also are all sata II, every last one.
So, summary, the disk mounts externally. The disk mounts internally. But the system install disk won't install the the hard drive.
Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection? Is something cracked out somewhere else on my computer causing this?

"Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection?" yes and through firewire also.
Attach an external drive( I partition mine , a small one for the OSX install and the larger for my files or TM back up or what ever.
Anyway back to that small partition. Mount your Leopard DVD. Open Disk Utility and select restore. Drag that DVD to source and drag that small partition to destination. Select restore. Once done you can now boot into that small partition and install leopard from that partition as if you are using the DVD.
Intel Macs can boot from USB or firewire external drives. The partition mapping should be GUID.

  • Bundled applications won't install from DVD

I have re-installed my macbook pro (early 2011) and have tried to install the bundled applications from the supplied dvd but they won't install. I have tried several times and it keeps telling me that it can't be installed. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution?

It's resolved now, I have tried it again (now the 7th time) and for some reason it decided to work!

  • FireFox 13.01 won't install Flash Player Plugin

At some point in the not too distant past my Flash player stopped working in FireFox so I'm trying to remedy that. I see all the hooplah going on about incompatibility but I can't get to that point because the plug-in won't install in FireFox. I've tried everything I can and I'm assuming that it is supposed to show-up in the "plug-ins" list but it does not. Web pages tell me that I'm missing the plug-in even though all indicators are that it installed correctly (FlashPlayer reflects accurately in my control player). I've tried safe mode but no joy there either.
As far as RealPlayer is concerned I severed ANY and ALL relationship with that "%^&$#@" over a decade ago. It is not on my system.
I'm about ready to toss FireFox out the window and go back to IE (where I am not having this problem). This is not how auto-updating is supposed to work and I could care less about assigning blame.
Please do not suggest to me that I wipe everything FireFox related and start over. That is unacceptable. What am I missing or failing to do?  I woud prefer to not rollback to version 10 if possible.

  • Trying to install Office Mac 2011 on PowerBook G4 with PowerPC processor

...won't install and says it requires an Intel based processor...I guess this means I have to get a new processor if I want to run Office 2011? I am quite annoyed because the software package says NOTHING on the outside about this requirement. If it had, I wouldn't have spent over $100!

Why do you need Office 2011?
Office v.X served me perfectly well for the entire PowerPC era.

  • Itunes won't install. Error message: Apple Application Support not found

Itunes won't install. Error message: Apple Application Support not found.  What is the fix for this?

It is always these four updates that fail.  I've tried downloading and installing them seperately from apple downloads.  I've tried various recommended fixes, and nothing I can figure out works.  Before these problems, itunes worked on the computer for a year.
Thank you again for wanting to help me.

  • Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • My new blank hard drive won't install OSX from the disk?

For some reason my Mac book pro won't install OS through the install cd or through the flash drives. It will load the disk but then freeze when I click install. It won't load through the USB either. I have done multiple diagnostics at the mac store and they tell me that my hd is bad. Twice the hd was fresh out of the box and installed that day. I spoke to a supervisor via phone when I called apple care and he told me that unless I have all apple parts in the computer they can't accurately diagnose the issue. It feels like they're trying to con me into paying double for a "apple hd". What can I do to get my computer working?

I would purchase an external USB enclosure for the HDD. With the HDD in the enclosure, install OSX and then mount in your MacBook. If you continue to have problems, it could be a faulty internal SATA cable.

  • ITunes won't install (at all) on my Windows 8.1 64 bit computer

I've tried downloading iTunes for Windows 8.1 64-bit computers and it won't install on my machine. I did everything like I think I was supposed to ... but nothing happens. In addition I've tried connnecting my iPhone 5S to a USB port ... nothing good happens. My computer recognizes the iPhone but it won't do anything with it. Also I've tried the suggestions from "windows 8.1 itunes wont recognize iphone: Apple Support Communitites" which entertains that I can open control panel ... find Device Manager and try to install new driver software from my disk ... with the suggestion that I 'browse' and find "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. ... and "Apple" does not exist under Common Files of either "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)"
    So now what????

What is the full text of the error message?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
