IHome Alarm Volume

Does anyone know how to adjust the volume of the IHome alarm when you choose to wake up to your Ipod? The directions are vague in this area and the wake up volume is very loud! Thanks

I had the same problem with the ihome alarm volume being too loud. I used a nice idea by Jared Kipe to solve this pesky problem.
Yes it does involve taking apart the ihome, finding the speaker wires and adding some radioshack resistors to the line, but it is very easy and only took a few minutes to complete even for a novice like me.

  • How do I set my iPod's alarm volume separate from that of the other sounds?

First of all, I tried to post this to the iOS Apps community, but there doesn't seem to be one for the Clock app.
I wake up by the alarm feature on my iPod Touch, but sometimes the volume is turned down super low because throughout the day I have the volume in Settings>Sounds>Ringer and Alerts turned down while I teach. I did have the "Change with Buttons" turned on, but that seems to set the music volume the same, which I don't want (hearing a loud mail bing while listening to Bon Iver just isn't the mood I'm going for).
I think the simplest solution, and probably most obvious since many of us use our Clock's Alarm feature, is to have it's own volume somewhere like Settings>Notifications>Clock. Something like that. But I can't find it. And if there were options to turn off the sounds in Settings>Notifications>Mail - or any of the preloaded iOS software - that would work, too. But there's not from what I can see.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? How can I keep my Alarm volume without disturbing class all day with Mail and other notifications' sounds? I'd hate to find out that the "Most advanced iOS" still relies on me turning down the volume after I wake up and trying to remember it when I go back to sleep - both times when I'm too sleepy to think.

This works on an iPod Touch, OS 6.1.6.
    Basically you need to
    - turn off "change with buttons" in Settings->Sounds->Ringer and alerts
    - turn on "do not disturb" in Settings.
    This way
    - the lateral buttons will only affect the music sound;
    - all notifications, lock, and unlock will be silent
    - but the alarm overruns this, and can still be heard (at the same volume as the music was last left to, I presume).
So you can listen to Bon Iver withouth emails swooshing in and out, and you don't need to remember changing the volume before going to sleep and after waking up I have to say: pretty cumbersome to figure out, Apple!

  • Is there a way to pre-set the alarm volume on iPhone?

Is there a way to pre-set the alarm volume on iPhone? Every evening I have to remember to adjust the volume to 3 bars, versus full volume during the day.

I cannot believe this problem hasn't been rectified yet!
If I use the pre installed ringtone as an alarm and set it low so I don't jump out of my skin, then my call volume is too low the next day, so have to change it.
If I use a song as an alarm, I have the same problem, but its when I watch a video. I set it quiet, then jump out of my skin the next morning if I've left it tuned up after watching YouTube. Also works the other way if I've watched a video with the sound down, and forget to turn it back up, then I don't hear my alarm, which makes me late!
It could also do with an ascending volume option, so it starts nice and quiet to wake you gradually. My old phones from pre iPhone days had these features and they worked great.
Surely this isn't that much of an issue to sort out. Yet I've seen posts back as far as 2006 complaining about it.

  • Pre alarm volume

I'm a 1 week old Palm Pre user. Is there a way to set the alarm volume levels separate from the phone volume level? REALLY important to me! Thanks to any- and everyone!

  • Alarm volume too low - iPhone 4S / iOS 6.1

    Hi,
I use the standard iOS alarm, and put my phone into DND mode overnight (manually).  The alarm still goes off in the morning, but the volume is inconsistent, even though I set the Ringer and Alerts volume to the max.  I have vibration turned on as well, and it actually saved my bacon this morning, as the alarm volume was VERY low.
I usually listen to podcasts before I go to sleep, but always do the following before going to sleep:
    Unplug headphones
    Return to the home screen
Go to settings to manually turn on DND mode
    Return to the home screen
Max the ringer volume with the volume + button
Plug in the charger and hear the charging chime (quite loud)
Lock the screen and hear the lock sound (again, quite loud)
Yesterday the alarm volume was about half.  This morning it was at the lowest volume.  Seems inconsistent.
    Anyone else havuing this problem?
    Thanks,
    Todd

Update to previous post:   The speaker volume was low before updating to 6.1.3.  I don't remember it ever working well.

  • Alarm Volume on Nokia E5

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to control the alarm volume on the nokia E5? Just got the phone a week ago and almost had a heart attack every morning. I tried controlling it via the profile "normal" and customize but the volume only works for the actual ring. Please help!
    Thx,
    Dan

Its not covered in the manual because Ringtone volume is controlled by sound profiles' settings.
Menu -> Settings -> Profiles -> [up/down to select profile] press Options (Left Soft or Navi key) -> Adjust -> scroll down to Ringtone Loudness -> press Change (again: Left Soft or Navi key) and adjust it by pressing left/right.
Volume buttons are controlling media players' volume when they're on (Music Player, Real Player), or volume during calls.
[Sorry if the names of options differ slightly, my software is in another language so I'm just guessing, but you should easily get it right anyway]
Did it help? Then hit the green Kudos Star button on the left.

  • Can't adjust the alarm volume

Why is it that the alarm volume does not change if you change the phone volume setting on the 1-30 scale. The alarm volume level is insanely loud, and s always the same whether you phone volume setting is on 1 or 30.
It would be very nice if the volume of the alarm could be changed as well as currently it scares the s..t out of me every morning when it goes off.

Currently there is no way to adjust the volume of the alarm clock sound. Even with GDR2 installed.
All i can suggest is for you to choose an alarm sound that isn't so disturbing.
I do agree though that the ability to adjust the alarm volume should be there along with the ability to have separate volume controls for other aspects of the phone's sound system.

  • How do you change the alarm volume, how do you change the alarm volume

How do you change the alarm volume on a iPhone 5C?

You can change it in Settings > Sounds > Ringer and Alerts (or with the buttons on the side of the phone if you have "Change with Buttons" turned on in that same section of Settings > Sounds).
Note that this change is not specific to the Alarm -- it will change the volume of incoming calls and other alerts as well as the alarm.
I have found it works better for me to set the sound at the volume I want it to be for incoming calls and then to find an Alarm sound that works best with that volume level. Without changing the volume, some Alarm sounds seem louder or quieter (or at least more or less irritating). You select the sound when setting the alarm and the sound selected will then be the default on future alarms.

  • Alarm volume honks on the Z22! Help!

The alarm volume honks!   It isn't even 1/2 as loud of my Palm V which recently died and the Z22 was the replacement.
I have seen the complaints, talked to Palm but no solutions yet. I tried installing Emerald Sounds but still no luck.   I really need a solution.   Does someone out there have one?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Yes i did.  It is not a hardware problem on my handlheld but a systemic problem with the Z22 based on on all complaints in the forum.   I have spent over an hour with tech support trying to explain but no one seems to understand.

  • Alarm volume way too low

Droid Razor Maxx, 2 days old.  Alarm volume is just barely audible if I put my ear next to the speaker.  Ringer volume seems ok and the speakerphone seems ok as well.  Yes, I've gone to settings volume and turned all of them up.  I also went to the alarm app itself and made sure it was all the way up also.
The alarm volume is only audible if you actually put the phone up to your ear.
    Suggestions??

The cache was already empty and it (of course) didn't have a clear button.  Data had a tiny bit in it, cleared that.  Alarm volume was unchanged; still too low.
When I go to settings>sound>volume and move the alarm slider from the far right to the middle then back to the far right, the alarm sounds, but it is exactly the same volume....too low.
Factory Reset??  Doesn't that mean I get to spend a couple of hours setting the phone up again??

  • Can I set the iOS6 clock alarm volume?

    Dear Folks,
The (alarm) clock built into iOS6 seems very slick, but the volume is too low to wake me up. I can't seem to find a setting to change the alarm volume (nor does the physical volume switch alter it).
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks!
    pax / Ctein

    Dear Moireach,
    Yeah, that works!
A minor correction -- The 'official' name for that volume control  is "Ringer and Alerts," not "Sound Effects." It's the slider right at the top of the Sounds setting screen on the iPad.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Alarm Volume Issue!

I keep getting to work late assuming this iPhone alarm will wake me... it does an awesome job when I dont bother to adjust the volume in my video playback, iPod or Safari playback . The problem is, if I choose to turn the volume down, lets say while watching a H.265 video in Safari and dont bother to turn it back up before bed... MY ALARM WILL RING AT THE LAST SETTING (very low) I PUT IN WHILE SURFING SAFARI!!
This really is a pain because if I forget to turn it back up, im late for work. WE NEED ALARM VOLUME SETTINGS separate from everything else.

here is what is happening......you only have the probem in the internet....this is why.
the internet, because we so seldomly use sound while surfing the web, runs off the same speaker as the ringer. When you turn down the volume in the internet, no matter what site you are on, you are turning down the sound on the ringer.
Open any page in safari...with or without sound, when you turn down the volume, the ringer volume comes up on the screen.
Perhaps there should be a different setting for the alarm, I am just beginning to wonder though as folks conitue to come up with all these "things" that he phone should be doing, if it is even possible. There is a limit to how much software the phone can hold...yes?
Anyways, that is what is happening Jerry, so until an update occurs, if ever, you are just going to have to get into the habit of turning it back up or checking it just before you go to sleep.

  • Battery saver automatically turns down alarm volume

When my phone's battery (Droid RAZR M) got down to 30%, a notification asked if I wanted to go into battery saver mode.  I then set my phone to automatically go into battery saver mode at 30%.  Twice now I have slept through my alarms because the alarm volume was turned way down.  I'm assuming the battery saver is doing this, because that's the only thing I've changed on my phone since it's happened. I can't figure out how to disable the battery saver mode. I can't find it anywhere on my phone, and am wondering if someone could tell me where it is.  I know there are multiple battery saver apps, but I have no idea which one it is because I can't find a battery saver anywhere on my phone.  I'm assuming whatever app it is came with the phone.
    Thanks!
    Tyler

I know the alarm is an important function to rely on thans2316. You mentioned you set the phone for battery saver mode at 30%. This is a function built into the device. Have you tried adjusting the percentage? How about keeping the device on the charger at night, which would prevent it from getting to 30%?
