  • Can US Apple TV be used in europe?

I am planning to buy an Apple TV for a relative in Belgium as a gift. Would it work? or is there an european version of Apple tv?

Can US Apple TV be used in europe?
    yes.
just get a new power cord (preferable) or an adapter for the wall outlet.
one issue you may be running into is wireless channels
meaning, if your router broadcasts on a certain radio channel, your device may not be able to connect to it. changing the channel (or hardwiring the unit to the network) would take care of it, though.

  • I would like to know if iphone 5 GSM model A1429 unlocked is available in stores in the US in order to buy and use in Europe

I would like to know if iphone 5 GSM model A1429 is unlocked and is available in stores in the US in order to buy and use in Europe. Please let me know.
    Thanks

Not officially for sale in the US, at the present time, although Apple's flagship store on 5th Ave, in New York City, gets supplies from time-to-time. However, no GSM US model iPhone 5 will support LTE anywhere other than North America. It will not support LTE in Europe. If you want LTE support in Europe, you need to purchase your phone in Europe.

I purchared an iPhone 4s from Dubai and find that it does not have FaceTime on it.
The phone is now used in Europe.
How do I get to instal FaceTime please?

The iPhone from Dubai will never be able to have FaceTime. The iPhone country of origin (serial no. and imei no.) is the culprit. The government there has banned FaceTime.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
You will need an Unlocked GSM Treo and it should work fine. You will of course need a SIM card and service provider but you shouldn't have any trouble.
Let me know if you have any further concerns.

  • Blackberry use in Europe

I'm looking at getting a blackberry and could use it for occaisionaly use in Europe.
I'm interested in the Pearl (8120) as the specs say it has GSM capabilities but my rep says it doesn't and i need to get the 8830.  Anyone know why the discrepancy?  Also, any advice about using a phone occaisionally in Europe would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    wsolo

in France, most Blackberry devices are :
    8100 / 8120
    8300 / 8310 / 8320
    8800 / 8810 / 8820
    or older ones.
    here in France we have GSM + GPRS + EDGE + Wi-Fi (Starbucks & McDonald's) + 3G + GPS + SMS + MMS
=> no EvDO, no CDMA, no WCDMA.

  • If you have wifi plus cellular and you use in Europe, do long distance phone rates apply?

If you have wifi plus cellular and you use in Europe (connecting via cellular), do long distance phone rates apply?

No, since the iPad is not a phone. But unless you use a local carrier when you're in another country from that where you have your service, international data roaming rates would probably apply, and international roaming is usually expensive.

  • IPad:  Any advice on getting a pre-loaded Sim for use overseas (Europe)?

iPad:  Any advice on getting a pre-loaded Sim for use overseas (Europe)?

Thanks, I thought this was the case, checking to see if anything had changed.  Spain is the country in question.  We previously were not able to obtain a Sim there but that may have been because of a carrier or individual employee problem.  Will certainly try again next time (we did get a carrier Sim successfully in Italy one time).  Cheers

  • I plan to loan my iPod Touch to a friend for one month to use in Europe.  How can I keep my iTunes account private, but enable him to create his own iTunes account to use on my iPod Touch?

I plan to loan my iPod Touch to a friend here in the USA for one month to use on his trip to Europe.  How can I keep my iTunes content and my account private, but enable him to create his own iTunes account to use on my iPod Touch?  Also, do I need to de-register my iPod Touch for all of this to happen--and have him register my iPod Touch in his name for that month he is using it in Europe?

The suggested advice in this support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1478 wasn't a help at all, because the option "enable disc use" in the summary window of itunes doesn't appear.
    *From the article*:
    Products Affected
iTunes 7 for Mac, iTunes 7 for Windows, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, iPod mini, iPod, iTunes 8 for >Windows, iTunes 8 for Mac
No mention of the Touch, it works differently from other iPods and has no "disk mode" as such.
I think it can be used as a storage device by using a 3rd party App, search the the App Store for such items.
Photos transferred to your Touch via iTunes will be of severely compromised quality i.e 640x480 pixel resolution and file size around 600-700 kb. These can be retrieved, again using a 3rd party application on your computer, such as [Touch Copy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy> but you will not get back original quality images.
    Good luck,

  • How do I set up my phone to use in Europe

how do I set up my phone now that i am in Europe and not in the USA

If it's an unlocked phone, there is nothing to "set up". Just put in your SIM and fire it up.
If it's locked to a US carrier, then you're out of luck. The only GSM carrier in the US is AT&T and they will not unlock iPhones under any circumstances.  Verizon and Sprint use CDMA. They will unlock the SIM for customers in good standing to use for international travel, but if service with them is terminated, the SIM slot will be re-locked.

  • Macbook pro use in Europe

I will be traveling to Italy for the next several months and would like to purchase a laptop - thinking about the Macbook Pro bc I am a designer and need the largest screen possible/most memory and speed.
#1 Do you think the Macbook Pro can handle graphic intensive programs (Adobe CS2) and that is the model I should get?
#2 While in Italy, do I need a voltage converter or just a plug adapter?
#3 Is the power supply cabable of sensing the voltage difference and compensating?
#4 What will I need to hook up to highspeed internet over there (I'm a tower kind-a girl this is my first laptop)?
    Thanks for the info.

    Hi,
I have a MBP and I live in Europe (Portugal). Regarding your questions:
#1 - The problem with all the Intel Apple models is that Adobe's programs will not run natively, but instead they will run under Rosetta. Meaning that until there's a new version of Adobe CS2 the speed is not that fast; in fact, I hardly use Adobe PhotoShop now because it is a pain. Any other graphic intensive program that runs natively (Universal) will perform very well. (If you go for MBP, you may want to upgrade it from 512 ram to at least 1GB.)
#2 - Only the plug adapter. All Apple products are prepared to be used on voltages that run from 100 to 240 volts.
#3 - Yes (see above answer). I bought my MBP in US and I have been using it in France, UK, Spain and Portugal.
#4 - The normal stuff: an modem with broadband internet (ADSL or Cable; maybe a modem/router for wireless connection) to connect with your laptop and an internet provider (a contract).
    Have fun in Italy.
    PS. I'm also a girl.

  • Imac 20" N. American model to be used in Europe

I am having an iMac 20" come from Canada but I would like to know if they absolutely work here in Europe. Apparently there were manufacturing processes/decisions with the iMac G5 that lead those models to fail if plugged in to European sockets.
Of course, we all know that physically the outlets in North America and Europe are different but will the internal power supply handle the different electrical standards?
Can anyone verify, without a doubt, that the North American Intel iMac 20" will absolutely work in Europe, granted I will merely need an adaptor to fit plug into a European outlet.

Thanks. Here's the Apple link changing power supplies, and here is the Apple chronolgy:

    * August 31, 2004 — Apple releases an all-new iMac line, with both the LCD screen (17 or 20” widescreen) and computer (including power supply) contained in a 2” thin flat-panel housing, powered by a PowerPC G5 processor at 1.6 or 1.8 GHz, Serial ATA hard drive (ATA in the Education Model) and an Nvidia GeForce 5200 Ultra GPU. USB 2.0, FireWire 400, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet ports, a V.92 modem, a video-out port, an analogue audio-in jack, and a combination analogue/mini-TOSLINK audio-out jack (like the one in the AirPort Express units), as well as the power button, are all arranged at the rear of the unit. The enclosure is suspended above the desk by an aluminum arm that can be replaced by a VESA mounting plate, allowing the unit to be mounted using any VESA-standard mount. Apple boasts that it is the slimmest desktop computer on the market. The iMac G5 is available in three retail models (17-inch, 1.6 GHz is M9363LL/A; 17-inch, 1.8 GHz is M9249LL/A; 20-inch, 1.8 GHz is M9250LL/A) plus one education-only model that has no optical drive, no modem, and a more modest GeForce MX4000 graphics system.

B", or the “Ambient Light Sensor” line (the name refers to a new light sensor on the bottom of the iMac that adjusts the glow intensity of the white pulsating sleep indicator light according to the ambient light). The entry model is now 17-inch, 1.8 GHz (M9843LL/A). The mid-model is 17-inch, 2.0 GHz (M9844LL/A) and the top model is 20-inch, 2.0 GHz (M9845LL/A). All models now feature 512 MB of RAM standard; the hard drive capacity is increased to 250 GB on the top model, with an option of 400 GB. Optional upgrades now include a double-layered 8x SuperDrive. All models now feature Airport Extreme wireless, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics chip with 128 MB of VRAM as standard. Also the 10/100 network interface has been upgraded to 10/100/1000. All models now ship with iLife '05 and Apple's new Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger”.
    * October 12, 2005 — At the “One More Thing” event, Apple released new iMac G5s (the "Rev. C", or the "iSight" line); a 17" display running at 1.9 GHz (MA063L/A) and 20" display model running at 2.1 GHz (MA064L/A) with:
    o A built-in USB 2.0 iSight camera
o A remote control called Apple Remote
    o 512 MB PC2-4200 (533 MHz) DDR2; expandable to 2.5 GB total memory
    o Slot-loading 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    o Mighty Mouse
o A PCI-Express ATI Radeon X600 (Pro for the 17" model and XT for the 20" model) graphics chip with 128 MB DDR VRAM
o Built-in media center software called Front Row
o Horizontal input ports rather than the less stylish vertical configuration.
o Thinner 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) flat panel housing with a curved rear housing
o Note: the built-in V.92 modem was removed and is now offered as the optional Apple USB Modem. The USB modem is available on the Apple Store website and also in Apple Retail stores.
o In February 2006, Apple discontinued the 17” iMac G5 and began solely selling a 20-inch iMac G5 for $1,499.
o The iMac G5 was completely discontinued in March 2006.
Good luck and please let me know if this is what you wanted,

  • Are there apps that you can use in Europe with out phone connection

Going to France, and other parts of Europe, and would like to use the GPS on the phone without using phone service. Is there an app that you can preload the maps, and just use the GPS on the phone to find location?

There are 100s of apps in the App Store that will load local maps onto your device.   Some are free, some aren't.

I am currently in Australia and I would like to buy the lates iPad  model (Retina Screen WiFi + 3G)
Will I be able to use it with european mini-sim when I will be back to Europe?

Yes. iPads can be used on 3G networks worldwide. You need to get a plug adapter to fit the wall socket. You do not need a voltage converter or any sort of transformer.
