IIS license for Windows machine

Hi,
Please let me know when we install IIS feature on Windows 7 or Windows server, its license gets counted?

IIS is a built-in component of Windows and does not require additional licenses.

  • Portege R500 - Does Toshiba sell OEM licenses for Windows 7

    Hi
I have a Portege R500 with Windows XP.
I have now installed a Windows 7 version without activation to see if all drivers work (Windows 8 is not supported as far as I know).
All looks good and Windows is telling me now as expected it is not genuine and offers me to buy the license, but when I go to MS it fails (it seems MS does not sell Windows 7 anymore).
Does Toshiba sell OEM licenses for Windows 7 for a R500 ?
It would be a shame to throw it away because of that.
    Thank you
    Markus

Toshiba offers notebooks with preinstalled recovery image and offered version is activated. With other words when you buy notebook you buy also valid licence for preinstalled OS version.
Toshiba supports newer operating systems too. As you can see on Toshiba download page you can find drivers, tools and utilities for Win7 64bit and use them after Win7 installation.
Unfortunately Toshiba doesn't offer licence for it. All you must do it to obtain Win7 64bit with valid licence.

  • Server 2012 Standard license and VM license for windows instances

    Hi,
A question about VM instances on standard server 2012 license exists here
I  cannot link it here as my account is not verified. The topic is titled "Windows Server 2012 Standard License and VMs"
    My question is tad different...
If I understand this correctly, 1 windows server standard license provides support for 1 Physical Operating System Environment (The VM Host /  POSE) and permission to run 2 Virtual Operating System Environment(VOSE).
Does this imply that I can install 2 additional instances of Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition on the permitted 2 VM instances on the server? Or... should I purchase additional licenses for each VOSE that runs windows?
Does the standard license provide rights to run  2 Virtual instances AND offer install and activation rights for 2 MS windows (virtual) environments AND install and activation rights for the windows host?
If license is require for each instance of server 2012 running on the VM ... can I avoid purchasing additional licenses for operating systems, say, if I run 2 Centos operating system instances in 2 VOSE?
    Please help!
    Thanks.

Licensing questions should be asked of a trained Microsoft licensing specialist.  I haven't seen one of those lurking in this forum.  www.microsoft.com/licensing.
That said, licenses are assigned to the physical host, not to VMs.  The License you assign to the host grants you the "right to run" addition virtual operating system environments running Windows Server.  It does not grant you additional licenses.
Licensing for Microsoft Windows Server operating system is controlled by Microsoft.  Licensing for any other operating system is not covered by the virtualization rights of the Windows Server operating system.  Therefore, if the CentOS virtual machines
are properly licensed by whoever licenses them, you can run however many instances that license allows.
A single Standard Edition license can be installed on the physical host granting you the right to run up to two virtual instances of Standard Edition.  However, if you run additional services, such as file services or Active Directory or IIS, etc.,
on the physical instance, that means you can only run one additional virtual instance of Windows Server.
Free advice is worth every cent.

  • Licensing for Windows Virtual Desktops (VDI) - do I need Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) licenses?

Hello.  I am trying to figure out what type of licenses I need to achieve the following:
    - Windows Server 2008 R2 running Hyper-V
    - 25 virtual desktop on Hyper-V running Windows 7 Professional
Do I need a "full" license of Windows 7 Professional for each virtual machine, AND another license (let's say maybe Windows 7 Starter) running on the actual PC's that the users will be using?
I came across this article regarding Virtual Desktop Access licenses, do I need that?  Or would I be fine just purchasing 1 copy of Windows 7 for each PC?  In that case should I choose Starter or Professional?  The desktop PC's that users
are using are older Pentium 4's so I wanted to keep the load on them minimal.
    Thanks!

  • Are LabView licenses for Windows transferrable to Mac OS X?

I can't seem to find any information on this subject on the National Instruments or in a search on this forum, so hopefully someone can answer these questions.
My lab has 3 licenses for the use of LabView 8.5 in our lab, although the instructions that I've been given to install LabView involve downloading the trial software from National Instruments' website, and then using the activation code to activate the software. Trouble is, the trial software is for Windows only, and I was hoping to be able to run LabView on the Mac in our lab.
Are the licenses for LabView transferrable across platforms, or does my lab need to specifically purchase a version of LabView for the Mac? If the licenses *are* transferrable, how do I request a CD for the Mac installers if we've already purchased LabView for Windows? Furthermore, if I'm able to use these licenses on a Mac, is it possible to install the Windows version on my Mac on my Boot Camp partition, and install the Mac version on my Mac OS X partition and only use up one license? I'm not sure if all of our hardware has drivers that will run under Mac OS X on an Intel Mac, and I don't want to be penalized for this by having to use up two licenses on the same machine.
Any answers to these questions would be much appreciated.

    Hi SimX,
The LabVIEW licenses are not transferrable directly, since LabVIEW for Windows and LabVIEW for Mac are entirely different products and have different installers.
In this case, you should contact your local sales representative to see what your options are. You can find the email contact information at http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nicc.call_me?p_lang_id=us, or call in to 866-ASK-MYNI (866-275-6964).

  • License for Windows Server Essentials

I am reviewing options for hosting several light websites and collaboration apps inside one Azure VM. I will have no more than 5 users. I need clarification on licensing of its Windows OS.
    1. My VM in Azure has trial version of Small Business Server 2011 Essentials (from resized and uploaded VHD). Which license do I need in order to activate it?
    2. If I want to use Windows 2012 Essentials in Azure for VM (not the datacenter edition with essentials experience) can I upload trial version and then activate it or I need to upload some other specific (license-bound non-trial) edition? Which license will
    I need in this case?
    3. For licensing from above questions do I need to have active directory or anything else at on-premise servers?
    4. Later if for example I decide to leave Azure will I be able to download that VM and use same license at on-premise server machine or I will need another license?
    5. Is there any better Windows edition that you wish to recommend and that will satisfy my needs?

    hi,
Base on my experience, Windows Server are offered in the Azure image gallery  include the Windows Server licensing cost, please see this page (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-machines/).
If you used your upload image, Microsoft provides the Windows Server license keys for any running instances, Please above link FAQ sections. For your the forth question, if you download your Windows Server image running on Azure to on-premises, you will then
be required to supply a license for the image. Also, you could refer to this page (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/licensing-faq/#header-0 ).
By the way, about the VM server license, I suggest you could post this issue on azure VM forum for more details. And you could contact the azure support:

  • License for Windows and/or Mac

    Hello everybody,
I was thinking about purchasing Web Premium CS4 and was wondering about the license. Currently I'm running on a Windows 7 desktop and was considering purchasing a Mac laptop. Would I be able to use the same key on the desktop and laptop or can I only install on one machine? Also, would a Windows key work on a Mac copy even if it is the only copy installed?
    Thanks

Just spent 60 minuts with Adobe Lack of Support.   Basically, you can use one license on 2 machines but you can only use one machine at a time according to person I chatted with.
I would say no to using a MAC version license on a PC as they know just from the license number which product it belongs to.

  • How do I get a license for Window Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder?

I downloaded the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder for Visual Studio 2005, but the trial license is no longer available. How do I go about getting a license for this product? How much is it?

We purchase our platform builder and run time licenses from MDS Pacific, they cover the India, South East Asia and Oceania regions.
The cost is around US$1300 (from what I remember) for platform builder, this includes a copy of Visual Studio (at least it does for WEC2013).
The cost for the run time license that needs to go with the devices you produce is around US$5 per license, but this very much depends on the quantity you are producing and the OS components that you are using.
If you are not in any of these regions, there is a company called Bsquare who operate in the US and Europe and other parts of Asia.

  • WEP password for Windows machine

    Hi to all,
Okay, got two refurbed airport express units from apple yesterday. I set them up in WDS mode and both my iMac and ibook are connected and working well. My wife tries to connect to the wireless network and it asks for the WEP password. I enter the password that I set up for the connection but this does not work. It is prompting me for a much larger password. Where can I find this password?
    Thanks!
    Greg

    Glenn900, et al,
Thanks for your prompt response, but unfortunately I am not following these instructions very well. I am using WDS, which means that I have two basestation choices within the Airport Admin utility. One is the basestation, the other is the relay basestation. Which one do I double click? Assuming I click on the basestation, I get a large window that comes up with different categories:
Airport, internet, network, port mapping, access control, WDS, music. I do not see any lock icons in any of these sections. However, in looking into the button entitled "airport" there are several buttons that seem to be relevant: change password, base station options, change wireless security and wireless options. When I look at "change wireless security" I do get a window that addresses wireless security and has a box for the WEP passwords. This password is not shown however all I have is ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I am thinking that I need to have that 128bit WEP password revealed to me so that I can input it into my wife's windows machine. How do I get that password?

  • Is the APEX 2.2 hosted on the oracle site only for windows machine

    Hi,
Is the APEX 2.2 hosted on the oracle website only for the windows machine.
Can I download the APEX 2.2 s/w for a linux box as well. Kindly let me know
if a linux version is available anywhere else.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
ApEx is running inside the database, so there is only one version of it, which can be downloaded here - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html
The database itself can be run on Linux. You can see all the available versions in here - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html

  • Same license for Windows and Mac?

Hi, I just got Production Premium CS6 for Windows, but I'm about to buy a Mac. Will my license work for both? Do I need to uninstall it for Windows when I switch to Mac? Do I need to purchase a completely different license?

    ccccccory wrote:

    No.
The perpetually licensed Suites (which includes Production Premium) are platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
The Creative Cloud is multi-platform. The same license works on Windows and/or Mac.
    ccccccory wrote:

If you buy a new full Mac version (most expensive route) then no. You will then have a Windows only license and a Mac only license.
If you choose to "crossgrade" (swap the Windows only license for a Mac only license) then your Windows version will no longer be licensed so you'd uninstall that.
    ccccccory wrote:

Yes if you want to switch your Windows only CS6 to a Mac only CS6 - known as a "crossgrade".
