IKE and IPSEC timers on slow connection

Hello,
Does anyone has recommandations regarding phase1/2 timers for ipsec tunnels via a gprs/umts connection?
Is normal ipsec preferable (udp) or tcp?
Thx!

The General Packet Radio System (GPRS) facilitates the transition from phase1/2 GSM networks to 3G UMTS networks. The GPRS supplements GSM networks by enabling packet switching and allowing direct access to external packet data networks (PDNs). Data transmission rates above the 64 kbps limit of integrated services digital network (ISDN) are a requirement for the enhanced services supported by UMTS networks. The GPRS optimizes the core network for the transition to higher data rates. Therefore, the GPRS is a prerequisite for the introduction of the UMTS.

    Hi
How important are the settings in monitor regarding Ike and ipsec? I was
having 3rd party site to site issues and started to modify these to try
and resolve issues. It did not seem to help and I am thinking I should
set them back. is there a way to reset them to defaults?
    Thanks,
    Will

    oops I do know.
Would any of these cause an issue?
The number on the left shows current the right shows previous.
I am also getting a lot of ike abends. Not sure if that is related.

  • FCP X  how to download and install over very slow connection?

Does anyone know if I can go to a public library, buy/download FCP X, copy it to a usb thumb drive and then come home and install it on my Mac Pro?
My only internet connection is thru a cell phone, which is slow and also has a data cap.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Probably you bought redeem codes. Open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, choose Redeem under "Quick Links" and insert a code. Final Cut Pro X or Motion will start being downloaded. Then, do the same with another code.
If it says that your code is not valid, contact with the seller that gave you these codes

  • Airport Extreme MC340LL/A and iPhone 4/iPad SLOW connection

Just bought an Airport Extreme, model MC340LL/A, and I'm having problems with it.
When I connect wirelessly with my MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 10.6.6), I get speed tests of 10Mb/s (this is when it connects to either 2.4 or 5 GHz)
When I connect wirelessly with my iPhone 4 (4.2.1), I get speed tests of 0.2Mb/s (only 2.4 GHz)
Same thing with my iPad (4.2.1)….speed tests of 0.2Mb/s (on either 2.4 or 5 GHz)
I can't tell how fast my Apple2 TV is, but I ended up running a cat5 cable to it to avoid wireless issues.
I've tried the automatic settings on the airport extreme, as well as changing the channels and forcing the use of "N", "G", or "B". I tried turning the "Guest" network on and off to see if maybe the 2 networks were conflicting. None of the ios devices (2 iPhones or 1 iPad) will connect with any speed.
My old wireless router is a Linksys 310N that I had installed DD-WRT on, and I could get about 3.0Mb/s from the ios devices, but couldn't get decent speeds to my Mac.
The Airport Extreme was purchased the beginning of February, 2011 and had 7.5.1 on it. When I couldn't get any speed from the ios devices, I upgraded to 7.5.2 to try that. It didn't seem to do anything for my speed issues. I've read on the "Public Service Announement…." post that downgrading to 7.4.2 seemed to do the trick, but it doesn't appear that this version of the Airport Extreme will allow that firmware on it. I downloaded and installed an older version (5.4.2) of the Airport Utility to try to get 7.4.2 on the Extreme, but it still kept saying the 7.4.2 firmware wasn't compatible.
Does anybody have any ideas on what else I could try? Does anybody have their iphone 4's or ipad's connecting to an Airport Extreme with any speed using 7.5.1 or 7.5.2?
I don't think it matters, but for what it's worth, I have Comcast cable for an internet provider. Supposed to get 6Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up. ("Power boost" to 12Mb/s down and 2 Mb/s up) I do get speeds that I should be getting wirelessly from my Mac, so I'm guessing it's not my internet connection.
Other info…. the network is set up with the ssid name "wireless" for the 2.4 GHz name, "Wireless (5 GHz)" for the 5 GHz name, and "Guests" for the Guest network (on the 2.4 GHz)
Thanks for reading all of this!

Please clarify the possible conflict between the two statements above. Can your iOS devices connect or not?
Does anybody have any ideas on what else I could try?
One thing you could do is to use the advice in this thread to investigate the signal and noise levels that each device sees:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2347845&start=1
If you don't know the MAC addresses of your iOS devices, look in their "Settings" app to identify their IP addresses, then use the "DHCP Clients" panel to cross-check IP addresses to MAC addresses.

  • Extreme with USB Hard Drive and Backup 3.1 - Slow Connection

Has anyone had any experience with Apple's .Mac Backup 3.1? I have just setup my network with the new Extreme Base Station "N" with my Express being the main base station connected to my cable modem. When I go to use Backup 3.1 to backup my user folder to the wireless external USB hard drive, it takes forever! Is this normal?

    RD2516:
That's exactly what I did last night to backup my wife's MacBook Pro home folder (about 45GB). I hooked up the USB drive directly to the laptop and used Backup to make a "full" backup. (This after trying it wirelessly and realizing it would've taken all night).
Then, just for fun, I forced another backup a few minutes later. It was very quick, as expected. It spent a few minutes reading the files (64000 or so) and comparing them, but then did the very small incremental backup in seconds.
So, I think now that I have the biggest part of her home folder backed up, using Backup every night should be pretty easy.
    Hope that helps.

I own a 13-inch MacBook Pro and for the past day, my wifi on my laptop says I only have two bars of connection and is running very slow, but all of my other devices such as my iPhone and iPad are connecting perfectly to the wifi. How can I fix this? I have tried to shut my laptop off and let it rest and I have also re-started my wifi router three different times. Someone please help me with this problem so I can begin to use my laptop again as I take it to school and use it for class.
    Thanks so much!

FCP, and all software on OSX, has a few different "preference" files (the extension is .plist), which store all your user settings. Each time you resize a window, change a setting, anything, this file is re-written. Kinda easy to see how they would become corrupt every now and then.
    -Close FCP
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences and delete com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences>Final Cut Pro User Data and delete Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs
    -Empty your trash
Relaunch FCP and see if that worked.
Download FCP Rescue to make this process easier in the future. When you have FCP running really smooth, open FCP Rescue and create a backup of your preference files. If it starts acting wanky, just run FCP Rescue and Restore your backup preferences. Works really slick, and it's free.
EDIT: Or use the really simple explaination that X posted as I was typing.

  • Mavericks install incomplete. No Apple installers on HD. Will I be able to upgrade to Yosemite and will it fix all that didn't install with Mavericks upgrade? Very slow connection speeds 30 hrs to download Mavericks. Tried re-install; no help/

Ever since upgrade to Mavericks I have been having problems which are too numerous to mention. I finally found a program from a UCBerkley professor called Pacifier which indicated 4000+ of 400,000+ files and folders did not install. I was unable to go further to try to fix everything because Pacifier can't find ANY Apple installers on my HD. It recommended I download the Mavericks installer without reinstalling to continue; however, after having done so (very slow connection; takes 30 hours to download) and although the installer appears in apps while downloading it disappears and NO Apple installer packages can be found on my hard drive. I tried to download Yosemite once and it indicated my system wasn't eligible for the upgrade. Its' download time was similar to Mavericks; 28+ hours.
    I am using a Macbook Pro mid-2012 version OS X 10.9.5 (13F34); Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5; Memory  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3; Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
Regardless of how many files and apps I remove my memory is being eaten up to the point I can hardly do anything at all. There are no civil words for how frustrated I am. Someone please help me.
    Thanks,
    JJ

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

My 1st Generation time capsule won't connect to the internet thru a new motorola sb6121 - get continuously flashing yellow light. Using a router in between the modem and capsule yields good but slower connection to internet. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for your response
Let me give the history - I started with an Apple Express being fed thru a D-Link  EBTR 2310 cable Router from an RCA DCM315 Modem (Pure). Comcast service all the way.
Got the 1st generation TC in 2008 and merely replaced the Airport Express with the TC. Worked ok
A year or two ago I did try removing the modem and feeding the TC directly from the modem. Resulted in the same condition I have now - Continuous flashing amber on the TC. So I put the router back in the chain.
Some time later, at the recommendation of a Comcast rep, I replaced the router with (a Belkin F5D 5231) to see if speed and dropout problems would be improved. I thought it helped some at the time but now I am not so sure.
Last week I decided to see if a new modem would help with download speeds. So I got another pure cable modem (Motorola SB 6121- high on the Comcast recommended list).
Got up and running easily with Comcast help and with the modem connected directly to a computer.
Next I put the TC in the link and again could not get past the TC continuing to flash amber. Although I did get connected to the internet with this configuration I lost connection two both of my printers - one connected by USB and the other wirelessly to the TC. Again everything works fine when I put the Belkin router back in the system.
    However with the router in there, the modem shows the downstream connection to be 10/100 ethernet speed. (Modem light changes color for indicating speeds.}
I have gone thru all of the combinations of powering down/ up, but all stays the same.
I can live with what I have but something still doesn’t seem right.
    Thanks again

    Hi folks,
I tried downloading the latest OS X Mountain Lion and [after a long time... I have a slow connection] I got an error message ... We could not complete your purchase The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
Everytime I retry or continue the download I just keep getting the same error message!!!
What can I do to get my product?
    PM

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down.  Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

  • Help : very slow connection speed with AEBS and iMac

I connect to the internet using my newly purchased AEBS. I have a MacBook and an 24" iMac ( purchased in Nov 2007). My iMac showed very slow connecting speed of <1 MB/s download; with my MacBook placed just 1 foot from my iMac, the MacBook showed an amazing download speed of 20MB/s. If i connect the iMac to the AEBS using ethernet cable, it can get a very high speed.
    So, where is the problem??
I am new to wireless, please help. I use iMac more than my MacBook at home.
Actually, i did not touch the any of the advance setting of the AEBS.

You know, I am experiencing the same problem. My wife's PC and iPhone are blazing fast, but my MacBook is accessing the internet at about dial-up speeds. Very frustrating and I haven't yet found the culprit.
    Anyone???

  • Since the IOS 5 update my iPad seems to run a lot slower connecting to websites and general use? Can anyone help?

  • High Packet Loss, High Ping and Slow Connection Ov...

    Hi There,
I have been a customer with the BT unlimited broadband package for a little under two years and up until recently have had no real issues with the service. This was until around 3/4 weeks ago I noticed that the internet was very slow and certain online games or applications like Netflix would lose all of its quality or stop completely. At first I thought nothing of it and simply reset my BT Home hub router, and sure enough everything was back to normal. However after around 2-3 hours of moderate use (gaming online or watching Netflix) the problem surfaced again.
Now I am lucky if I can get the entire way through a 40 minute TV episode before the quality drops and/or the service requires buffering. I have already contacted BT via the helpline and the service lady ran through the obligatory steps (turn off, wait 5 minutes, reset the home hub etc.) but she failed to understand that although rebooting the home hub does alleviate the problem initially, the symptoms of a slow connection, high packet loss and high ping always return within an hour.
Four the last couple of weeks I have been trying to investigate the problem myself and I have done the following things:
Tested the line using the master socket (no difference)
Opened the ports on my firewall within the home hub (no difference)
Directly wired in the computer instead of relying on the wifi (no difference)
Tested for interference from neighbours wifi using inSSIDider office (it wasn’t, operating on different channels)
Switched every device that requires internet off apart from the PC (no difference)
So with all that in mind I am fairly confident that it is nothing within my house that has caused a significant reduction in internet quality.
Now I have tried my best to display the problem I am having by recording the connection quality for the last 24 hours. The table below represents the condition and quality of the connection after leaving it a period of time without resetting:
    ADSL Line Status
    Connection Information

I have also checked if the bell wire was attached and it is not. My socket is of the new type with the inclusion of an inductor on the faceplate. My ADSL filters and modem cable already have the middle connecting pins removed so I don’t think it is a wiring problem, at least in my apartment anyway. I have also searched for problems with the exchange and they are showing green for my area. (Liverpool Central)
I have just rang the quiet line and I do not appear to have any noise on the line. However, all I have is a cordless phone and I know that is not ideal for determining noise due to the radio frequency interfering with the phone speaker.
Again thank you for you time on this issue.

  • Slow connection and hardware provisioning

My dsl service requires an ip. I gave them the MAC address of my airport base station. I connection should be 256k, but I'm averaging 20-25k. Why is my connection so slow? I have a powerbook, 1.33 ghz, and my neighbor shares the connection. Its not that we are on at the same time. Does hardware provisioning mean slower connect speeds? Is there a way to get around this?
    Thanks!

The slow downloads are most likely due to heavy traffic on the servers you are attempting to download from. Especialy since you were able to download speeds of 256k from the test. I'm unaware of any solution to this since the slow speeds are not coming from your ISP, but from the Apple or download.com. My speed test shows ~2.8 mpbs download speed but I never get that from Apple or others. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
