ILife '05 updated to '06?

Since they are releasing a new iMac with a new version of iLife will those of us who have an older iMac (i got my in August 05) get software updates to bring our version of iLife update with what was just released? Or will I have to go out and buy it?

They do upgrades for iLife '06 though:
http://www.apple.com/ilife/uptodate/
Just to add: As I said before, if you bought a computer in the qualifying period that didn't have iLife '06 you can get a reduced rate upgrade.
This iLife offer is valid only for US and Canadian customers, however.
This offer is good only in the United States (50 states and the District of Columbia) and Canada, and valid only in accordance with the terms set forth on this certificate.

  • Cant update ilife bundled updates!!!

    Hi,
I am unable to update ilife bundled updates. Keeps saying "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (18)".
These apps show in my purchases and it asks me to accept. However when I click accept..and enter my apple id and password it does nothing. NOTHING!!
Tried calling apple support they made me do a few useless things none of which helped. Have been on the phone with them for about an hour now and they seem to have no clue. I thought this was a common problem and to think they would know what to do about it by now.!!!
Tried deleting the .plist file and logging out and logging in with apple id etc. none of which seem to work!. Need an update to iphoto so i can photo stream pics from my iphone to my mac (mid 2011, software is up to date). Any help is appreciated.

Have you used any of the three apps?
If you use even one of these apps before you accept them, then as per their individual Terms of Use, they become as is apps, not usable on any other Mac and unable to be updated.

  • Software Update Fails to Install iLife 09 Updates...

I have a Macbook with all the most recent updates installed, and computer otherwise running smoothly.
I had purchased iLife 11 (and since gave it away to a friend) but was very disappointed with the upgrade, and for various reasons decided to go back to the original iLife 09 that my computer came with.
I had already successfully made the downgrade on my Macbook Pro, by deleting the apps, all its related preference files etc I found by searching my computer. When I went to do the same on my Macbook, I was also able to delete and reinstall iLife 09 without a hitch, but when I got to the point where I ran Software Update is where I ran into some issues...
Software Update recognizes that I have iLife 09 installed, and tells me there are updates to iDVD, iWeb, iMovie and iPhoto totalling some 272MB. Everything downloads fine, starts to install but hangs for a few minutes on "Validating Packages" and soon after I get an error message that "None of the updates were installed" citing an "Unexpected Error". What gives?
I have tried the update a few times, after restarts, fixing permissions from Disk Utility, and searched the web for an answer, and come up empty...
Any help in getting this issue resolved would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Start by bypassing Software update and downloading the updates directly from Apple Support;
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL803
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL842
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1009
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1355
Install one at a time, repair permissions when all done.

  • ILife 06 update now iPod does not sync

    Folks,
agter upgrading to iLife 06 the update of my iPod does not work. I get the message that iTunes cannot write or read to this disk.
I had iTunes 6.02 before the update and everything worked fine.
IPod is an 60GB photo with newesr firmware.
    Thanks
    Oliver

You may have an Ownership & Permissions problem on your iPod.
Select your iPod on the desktop and Get Info (command-I).
Set the permissions to 'You can Read & Write'. Expand 'Details:' and click 'Apply to enclosed items...'.
Tick the checkbox 'Ignore ownership on this volume'.
If your iPod does not show up on the desktop, you have to 'Enable disk use' in Prefernces>iPod (iTunes preferences)
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with iweb after iLife '08 update

I updated to iLife 08 and now as I click to open iWeb, it asks for domain name. I have a working website/domain on imac that I can access, but there are no files that seem to satisfy. Help! iweb and my domain were working just fine prior to update. I don't want to have to re-create entire website.

Before you do ANYTHING else, backup the domain file that it's asking for.
Open a new Finder window, then open Library, Application Support and then iWeb. In there, you will find a Domain.sites file. Copy that to another location (your documents folder or your desktop) so that if you decide you need to start all over again, you'll have a place to start from.
Now, make sure you're running the latest version of iWeb '08. Do the System update and download/install the upgrade.
Now, when you open iWeb and it asks for your Domain file, you'll point it to that same location (in the file chooser on the left, choose your user name and then Library, Application Support, iWeb and click the Domain file.

  • Ilife '11 Updated...now I cant add albums to my Iweb sites

    Hi everyone,
I have just updated to Ilife 11, and now when I open my Iweb it wont allow me to drag photo albums from the media pane onto my Iweb page. The green circle with the cross does show and the other albums move out of the way as if the album were going to drop into place, but nothing happens.
Please help as I have 3 websites currently running which people have paid for,
    Thanks!

I updated my itunes yesterday to 11, and now if i want to add music to my iphone it does not let me. I drag the music over to the phone and it doesnt come up with the add icon???! any ideas before i go crazy!
I was having this exact same problem myself till I figured it out.
1.) With your iPhone plugged in, click on the iPhone button near the top right of iTunes next to iTunes Store.
    2.) Click "On This iPhone"
    3.) Click "Add To"
4.) Then you can drag music to your phone from your albums, songs list, playlists, etc.
Hope that helped! If I didn't clarify it enough, let me know!

  • ILife support update 9.0.1

Just curious. I'm still on ilife '08, but I was prompted to install iLife 9.0.1 update via software update. The write up says it's an update for iLife '09, but I installed it before I noticed. Anybody know if this would cause a problem? My iLife '08 apps are working ok as far as I can tell.
    Thanks

Same thing with me. I don't have any iLife '09 components installed, and yet Software Update prompted me to install the iLife 9.0.1 update. I do have Final Cut Express, however. Perhaps it contains a component that makes SU think iLife '09 or Aperture are installed...?
I installed the update with no ill effect (or benefit for that matter). I tested emailing a photo from iPhoto '08, and it worked fine (someone else in this thread mentioned that the update may have broken that particular feature).

  • ILife Media Update

This update improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues.
It is recommended for all users of Aperture, iLife 08, iWork 08 and Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard or later.
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30295/apple-ilife-media-browser-update

No, it's not mandatory but it's an improvement over the one that's in your applications now. It's the browser that in iWeb lets you get photos and audio files to add, same for iPhoto, it lets you add music to slideshows, etc. It works in Mail, Pages, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • ILife Support update problems

I tried to update iLife with the software update and got the following message:
"A networking error has occurred: Error NSURLErrorDomain -1005 (-1005). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
Any idea what this is and how I fix it?

Regarding log in items, I have just one, which is the application "SMART Reporter". Before I installed that, I didn't have any. However, one time when I installed "Earthlink Total Access" (never again!), it installed stuff all over including itself as a log in item. If you didn't put these log in items in yourself, they may have been installed in the process of installing software. But I think it's safe to eliminate these as log in items--all that should mean is that if you want something, you have to launch it manually instead of having it launch automatically at log in. Not knowing what your software is, I don't know what the items starting with "N" might be.
There are a couple of other things you could try. One is to go to Disk Utility and verify permissions and repair if necessary in case there's a permissions problem. The other thing would be to go to System Preferences>Network and make sure all the settings are right and that how you actually connect is at the top of the list. It may be worth getting Apple Tech Support back on the phone while you do this. Maybe there is some sort of glitch in your configuration that is causing problems.
    Good luck!

  • Current iLife needs updating, but don't want to pay for the latest versions when I already have the actual application

I got a MacBook a couple of years a go and it was pre-downloaded with iLife 09.  I already downloaded the latest software (OS X Mountain Lion) and now I would like to update these to the most current versions out there (the ones in the Mac App Store) but I don't want to spend $15 per app when I already have the applications.  Is there a code that will allow me to just update the most current versions?  That would help most definetly.

No. There is no upgrade discount.

  • My videos in iPhoto are unplayable after iLife '08 update....

    Hi,
All my videos (.mp4) seem to have been corrupted by the upgrade. I get an error that says:
"An invalid sample description was found in the movie."
Exporting the video to the desktop and using quicktime produces the same response. I opened the video in VLC and sound doesn't work!
help! have I lost all my videos?

it looks like qt 7.2 broke a lot of things for a lot of people.
Should that make me feel better or worse?
To get your videos back, and at least playable, rename all your files extensions.
    feed://wordpress.com/tag/imovie/feed/
Update: We have a fix for this - shortly after posting this the user ZioPRoTo posted a little tip in the comments section below. Essentially you need to rename all of your .mp4 files so they end in .3gp - and it seems to work so far for everyone who's tried it. Not sure why though.

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, updated iWork and iLife apps, update still tells me to download the update

So I spent all day downloading all the 'Free' updates which was fine, although 14GB later, so huge, they should have USB version but anyway the problem is, I installed Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie perfectly fine, but the App Store keeps telling me updates available and they are the same version as I just downloaded. Although iPhoto is weird even though is says copyright 2013 it says iPhoto '11 - i would gather it should say iPhoto '13 but it doesn't look any different except the new icon.
    Anyone else have this issue?

I did a support chat with Applecare, and was told to try repairing the permissions for my boot drive (Macintosh HD) via Disk Utility, and then try reinstalling the updates one more time.  There were quite a number of incorrect permissions (I was surprised), so we'll see if it helps...
I was also told that clearing the App Store preferences might do the trick:
To pull the plist file for App Store, what we want to do is:
    1. Open Finder and click on the Go menu in the  Apple Menu Bar.
    2. Hold down the Option key and choose Library
    3. Open the Preferences folder and locate this file
    com.apple.AppStore.plist
    4. Go ahead and move that file to your desktop, then quit out of App Store
    5. Reopen App Store and try to replicate the issue
    6. If this solves the problem, go ahead and move com.apple.AppStore.plist on your desktop to the trash
So now that I've reinstalled the iWork "updates" for a third time, and Mac App Store seems happy, we'll see if the fixed permissions and plist file does the trick.
I'll update if the ghost updates return
    Hope this helps!

  • Help! I just updated to iLife and updated my photo library.

Now all my thumbnails are of the very first photo I took, i.e. I have ~3,000 thumbnails of my dh, and it isn't even a good photo!
    Thanks!
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What version did you update from and to?
Did you ever use the finder to poke around in the iPhoto Library folder?
    Does this help?

I just got iLife 06 and iWork 06 and I don't know if I need to uninstall the iLife05 before installing iLife o6.
I am new to Mac and I really appreciate your help.

No, it does it all for you. Just insert and click. It's the beauty of macs, it's a very simply structured system.
    Best of luck.
