ILife '08 cannot install - error 999

I have browsed others with iLife '08 installation problems and it seems though others have had issues with installation, no one got the 999 code.
First off, I am running a G5 DP 1.8, OSX 10.3.9, and I have 35 GB of memory remaining. I ran disk repair and rebooted. No other programs running. Inserted the iLife CD and I got the "Read Me" and the "Packages" icons. I could open and read "Read Me." Double clicked the "Packages," and I got a popup that an installation error had occured and a code 999. Sadly, I bought iLife '08 for the iPhoto application. I have never had any issues installing ANY other software on my G5.
I do not think it is a faulty CD as this installed perfectly on my MacBookPro.
Any suggestions?

Emillie:
You need to be running Tiger for iLife 08: Here's the system specs from Apple's site:
"System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 processor.
iMovie requires a Mac with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster).
iDVD requires a 733MHz or faster processor.
512MB of RAM; 1GB recommended. High-definition video requires at least 1GB of RAM.
Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later.
3GB of available disk space.
DVD drive required for installation.
QuickTime 7.2 or later.
Other configurations may be supported. AVCHD video and 24-bit recording have additional requirements. Visit iMovie ’08 Camcorder Support for more information on AVCHD.
24-bit recording in GarageBand ’08 requires a Mac OS X compatible audio interface with support for 24-bit audio. Please consult the owners manual or manufacturer directly for audio device specification and compatibility.
Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner.
iPhoto print services are available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and select European countries. Internet access required; fees and terms apply.
iWeb requires Internet and web server access (.Mac recommended).
Some features in iLife require .Mac. The .Mac service is available to persons age 13 and older. Annual membership fee and Internet access required. Terms and conditions apply."
You're going to have to upgrade to Tiger or possible wait until sometime in October and get Leopard and skip Tiger.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

    Hello,
I have been using iTunes and Quicktime for quite sometime now. i recently attempted to upgrade to the latest version and received this error:

I have tried uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime as well as conducted several virus and spyware tests with no luck.
This is quite frustrating as I cannot install nor use iTunes so I have no way of syncing my iPod.

That sort of message citing that sort of program file (in this case it looks like it might be a file in your Spanish language resources) is usually caused by that file being damaged in some way.
The damage is often caused by disk damage near the file. So let's try running a chkdsk over the C drive:

Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an itunes install go through properly afterwards?

  • Cannot install: error 0x80040706

Hello, I recently uninstalled iTunes from my computer, because I was receiving an error message whenever I connected my iPod mini. The error told me to reinstall iTunes, and the support site said the same thing.
Now, after three hours of work, I finally have iTunes entirely removed. However, whenever I try to run the iTunesSetup.exe, I get the message "Error:0x80040706 Description:Object reference not set."
What does this mean, and how do I get iTunes back onto my system? Help, please!

Cannot install my download due to above error message.

    Hi revbos,
    Apologies for your incovinience.
Requesting you to please go to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=us. When you click on download button (after selecting your OS details), it should open a new browser window (which will launch the Akamai installer automatically). Please cancel any installation or error shown.
The newly opened browser page will look something like this:
As highlighted, please click on these links (one by one) and see if it downloads the required files. The downloaded files will be compressed with 7z format. If you have some extracting tool (like WinZip) try extracting it. If you don't have it, download 7z. Its a free utility from Microsoft. Once downloaded and installed, you will be able to extract file and locate the PSE setup.
Please let me know if you face any issues.

Steve Jobs obviously was "the man" because every update or install now gives me problems... i can no longer download anything to my iphone.. giving me errors of "cannot install at this time" and i get an error installing itunes on my other laptop... wth is going on!??!
ok so the download problem with my iphone.. what could be the cause of that? ive restarted and deleted the "undownloaded app" over 10 times already. and restarted the iphone 10 times... next thing i know i cant install itunes on my laptop.... geez man..
obviously there is a fix which someone will help... but why should i have to go through all that crap to install a so called uncomplicated software... when you think about it this really shouldnt even be an issue.
normally if the thing dosent work. normally with most programs you just uninstall the uncompleted software and just reinstall and everything is usually good to go.. help!

ive never had any problems with ap[ple products in the past... this is a first and a stupid problem if you ask me

  • I cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 I receive the Error 7 (Windows Error 193).

I cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 I receive the Error 7 (Windows Error 193).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times but with no luck.  Does anyone have another option?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the above steps haven't helped try installing:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for a 32-bit core program, similar to previous 64-bit releases of iTunes.
    Or roll back to:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
    as appropriate.

  • I cannot install iTunes on my computer, Winows 7. Error code -45075

I cannot install iTunes on my computer. Error code -45075

I used to have the same problem, and found a solution. It is very simple, ,just follow these steps below
Open the 'computer' file, found on start or might be on your desktop.
Click the C: drive, found on the left where theres a list of things such as favorites, desktop, etc
    Locate 'Users' and open it.
    Click your username
Go to AppData. (if its not there: on top, where theres 'File | Home | Share | View', click view, and then on the Show/Hide column, place a check by Hidden Items)
    Click 'Local'
    Locate Temp, and click it.
Highlight all the files and delete them. There might be some that you cant delete, but thats fine, just click 'skip'
Restart your computer, and it will be fixed!
    Hope I helped
