Ilife 08 = free imovie hd, help?

I bought a new macbook, that came with ilife 08. i think that this means i should be able to get the free imovie hd from apple. i have tried downloading twice but each time the download is almost down it fails to mount. what does this mean and how do i fix it?

It means that your FireWire system runs at 400 Megabits per second ..the standard speed for FireWire 400.
But it also means that your Mac's having trouble locating, or defining, anything that's connected by FireWire.
Have you tried using a different FireWire cable, in case the cable's faulty?
After trying a different cable, possible ways to remedy this - if it's a problem with your Mac, rather than the cable or camera - are:
1. Restart your MacBook (..under the Apple at top-left of the screen choose 'Restart...'). If that doesn't fix it;
2. Switch off your MacBook, using the 'Shut Down...' option under the Apple at top-left. When the computer has completely shut down, disconnect the mains cable (..if it was connected..) and then remove the battery, too. Let the computer just sit there for 15 minutes without any power. Powering down completely like that should - according to Lennart - reset the FireWire port(s). That will also lose the Time & Date. So when you reconnect the battery after 15 mins and restart the MacBook you'll also need to use System Preferences to reset the date and time.
BUT it doesn't look like it's a problem with just your Mac, because you say "..i've tried my camera and firewire on another macbook exactly the same as mine with the same error.."
So it's obvious, isn't it? If you get exactly the same fault showing on another Mac, then it's either a faulty cable, or it's a faulty camcorder ..even if they did both work some time beforehand.
Try a different cable. Try connecting your camcorder when it's on a mains AC supply, not just running on its battery.
