ILife '08 Gone?!

I just got my MacBook Pro like on the 26th and it totally messed up or something, so I went to The Apple Store and had a Genius help me out. He told me that Leopard had to be reinstalled and he did it and now everything's working the way it's supposed to be, but iLife 08 is gone!
I'm looking at the backup CDs, but I only got Tiger Install Disc 1 and 2 and Leopard install disc..... How do I get back iLife short of coughing up $79? Would be on one of those install discs?

1st you should have got a copy of the CD's in your box (I did)
2nd go back to the store and ask

  • ILife is Gone

After a clean "Erase and Install" of Leopard, the iLife suite is gone.
    Called Apple support, was told:
[Support]: "Just so you know iLife is now a separate bundle. It will not be installed with Leopard."
[Me]: "So by spending $120 on your latest OS I lost iLife completely?"
[Support]: "No . . . Well technically yes."
    [Me]: "OK. Bye."
    [Support]: "Bye."

Performing an Erase & Install will delete the iLife applications from your computer; they can be restored from your computer's original disks or iLife installation disk.

  • ILife Apps Gone!  Re-Install from Leopard DVD?

    OK.
I went to import some pictures today, and noticed that I'm missing my iLife '08 Apps... I really don't know what happened to them, and I'm pretty adept at using my Mac and computers in general, so I don't HOW this has happened.
My question is, I can't figure out how to JUST install iLife '08 from the Leopard install discs, is there an easy way to do this?
    Thanks

Before any installation, it is wise to backup your data*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
A clone would have ensured your iLife applications would not have been lost prior to installation.
If your Mac shipped with Leopard, the restore discs include iLife.
If your Mac shipped prior to Leopard (October 26, 2007) you won't find iLife on the Leopard installer you used to install Leopard on your Mac, but will find iLife on your restore discs which shipped with your Mac.
If you purchased your Mac prior to iLife '08 (August 7, 2007), you'll need the retail iLife '08 package to install iLife '08 on your Mac.
The restore disc install instructions are here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802

If neither of them seems to work, you might be able to extract the important files with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist.

  • ILife missing after clean install of Mountain Lion

Hello, my MBA is the late 2011 and I just did the format and install of Mountain Lion but I can't find the apps in the app store under purchased. How can I download and install the iLife?!

I'm having the same problem too! I installed ML last night and iLife was gone.

  • Wifi no longer connects to internet

In OSX 6.8 I was able to use my AirPort setup to share my internet access with my ipod, but with the upgrade to Mavericks Airport has become WiFi and will not access my internet connection. I've gone through all the Assistance and online troubleshooting guides, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Same here, just trying to connect my phone.
The sad thing is that I've spent hours and hours with a guy from Apple the last few weeks, and hours doing backup, so that we could delete EVERYTHING, reinstall Snow Leopard, then Maverick, just to find out that the problem is Mavericks, and clearly not my computer. So all I've got so far is hours wasted and my iLife is gone, and I will have to spend hours and hours to transfer all my files back.
Nice guy from Apple, but if this has been an issue for months, they should have known about it, and have fixed it at this point.

  • New hard drive and OSX install but not linked to my Apple ID

My hard drive died on my MacBook Pro (2012) and so I had a new one put in. Before this they managed to save a back up of all my folders, files, pictures etc. They then re installed my OSX software (not my original as that was Lion, I think this one is Mountain Lion - it's version 10.8), and started up my computer to put my 'back up' of my folders etc onto the computer before returning it to me. However, by starting up the computer and going through the welcome section, they have logged in without my Apple ID and so my computer is not synced to that apple account. This computer is now not registered with my apple account. This means, my iLife is gone (iPhoto etc). How can I restart and have the computer linked with my Apple account. I need to be able to sync up to access my iLife, my previous purchases such as Pages, and sync my iPhone with the computer again.
    How can I fix this?

'They" are Apple technicians or an AASP tech?  I had a similar situation where Mt. Lion was installed on my MBP, by a genius bar technician, which originally came with Lion.  The solution was to reinstall Lion.  Then to install Mt. Lion, I had to get a redemption code from Apple and then install it.  This then connected my ID with Mt. Lion.
If you have purchased Mt. Lion, it should still be in your App store account.  If you have not purchased it, consider installing Mavericks instead (it is free).
I suggest that you start the MBP with the OPTION-COMMAND-R keys down.  The display will show a revolving globe and proceed with the installation.  This connects with the Apple servers and installs the original OSX.  You will need a solid Internet connection.
    Ciao.

  • Automatic way to detect missing photos?

    Hi All,
I suspect the answer will be 'no' but I live in hope... =)
My iPhoto library has become slightly corrupt. So far it seems to only affect 10 photos in one directory. It's the problem where the thumbnails show but the link to the full image is corrupt.
So, how do I discover if more photos are affected?
There are over 21,000 photos in my library so opening each in turn could take a while! Can anyone suggest a faster way. Or perhaps an automated method?
You know, I'd upgrade to iLife 09 but with the British Pound being weak against the Dollar the price of iLife has gone up about 50%. <grumble....>
    Dave

You don't want to update with a corrupt library - you'll just roll the issue along. Upgrading the app will make no difference to the Library.
No, there's no way to find all and or any missing links. But it doesn't matter. That database is now toast. You know it's damaged and it needs to be replaced, there's no way to repair it.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • Photobooth and Time Machine

After I installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I went to open Photobooth and Photobooth asked me to "Update your photo files" so I clicked yes and did so, and Photobooth erased ALL my 6 years of photobooth photos of friends. How can I get them back? What do you mean by "Photobooth is installed as part of the system, so a reinstall should put it back." ?
Also when I enter Time Machine, although I backed up my entire system via Time Machine many times in the past, Time Machine will not give me any previous Photobooth with all my photobooth photos intact. Time Machine will only show me Photobooth in the most recent November 22, 2012 date, which is the Photobooth with all the photos of the past 6 years erased.
    Can anyone help, please?

    Imac G5

However, all iLife was gone as well as Soundtrack and iwork 08...not to mention my Final Cut Express HD now wants a serial # that I do not have because it was pre installed originally with the iMac G5
    Where did these programs go?
How do I get them to restore?
fyi-- My dock where the programs were located (in addition to Applications folder) just had a bunch of ? marks on it where the icons would usually be.
Is it a result of the Archive and Install and the Applications are in the previous system folder?

  • Time Machine  Problem with Apple Programs after Restore from A&I

Ok here is my situation. I originally did an Archive and Install before Installing Leopard. I was having performance issues with Photobooth and Time Machine. So, I decided to back everything up and do an Full Restore from Time Machine. I resotred from the Utility menu within the Leopard boot disc. However, after the restore ALL of my Apple programs were missing from Finder and the Dock. Including mail, itunes, photobooth, keynote etc..All iwork, ilife and everything else that came pre bundled. Now, I did an install of Leopard after the Restore (upgrade) and I got the basic apps back. My question now is where my other apps are hiding?? Are they somewhere within the previous system folder from the original Archive and Install?? (I havent been able to check because i'm now at work when the possibility dawned on me)
Does anyone know where these programs would be and how I can restore them?
Also, my prebundled software (Final Cut Express HD) that came pre bundled with My imac G5 originally is asking for a product serial number before it can launch. However, i never had a serial key for it.
Can someone please help and shed some light on this situation.

  • When importing no clips appear

although the DV plays through the iMovie main viewer as usual, using the iMovie controls and so no footage is imported.
I've been using this set up (Panasonic NVGS15) for a while and have had no problems but since I've installed Tiger and iLife and gone over to iMovie HD from good old iMovie I can't seem to get any footage in to the G5. I have repaired disc permission and checked imprting preferences.
    Any suggestions much appreciated...
    Cheers,
    Jay

    Dear Sue
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that a while ago and still haven't got anywhere. I'm wondering, since the DV plays perfectly well in the viewer but isn't then importing into a clip, whether there is either (a) a small glitch somewhere in my iMovie program (I just downloaded the 5.0.2 update to no avail) or (b) there is something wrong with the tape itself (I tried importing it to another machine in the house (an iMacG5) and had the same problem.)
It's driving me potty so thank for your help - all suggestions gratefully received...

  • IMovie Library Discombobulation

Here is the issue: Some of my home movies are in the older version of iMovie and I'm lost in figuring out how to consolidate everything.
What is sad: In 2006, I bought-in to the concept of moving to a Mac and having all of my personal media files - music, photos, videos - all in its libraries. Well, this concept has faded. Apple has Temporary Libraries - that is - they only last as long as Apple wants them to last. So today, I think I have to export a bunch of content and reimport into the new version of iMovie. This was iLife -- but the core concept of iLife is gone. Now it's just software.
Support: Technical support for Apple is terrific, right? Unfortunately, the young 20 something Apple support kids don't understand why a Apple user would want to maintain a media library of your children growing up. I haven't been able to find a plan to make this work, and I'm nervous playing around with my libraries.
Solutions: (a) give up on Apple and go back to maintaining media at the file-level like I used to do on a Windows computer
    (b) Google libraries - I don't know - but at least my kids know how google works
    (c) Find a way to work with Apple

    a) your Macs clock is set to 2040
    b) your cameras clock is set to 2040
    c) you will be in the future the inventor of Time Travelling, and you want to give your younger self (now) a secret message, 'cause in 2040 the machines will rise, and if you don't trust your old self (then), the machines will triumph, and suddenly a robot with Austrian accent asks you to trust him ... or it .... or ...
....  perhaps  a) or b) are more likely, we should consider these options first.

  • Somewhat old iPhone 5, gonna upgrade to ios 7. asking about iWork and iLife.

i was watcing the event last night where tim cook revealed the iphone 5s and 5c and he was saying that iWork suite apps and iLife suite apps are gonna become free. this morning i check the apple website and was looking at the specs of the iPhone 5s and when i scrolled all the way to the bottom it said something about devices activated after sept. 1, 2013 will have iWork and iLife available to them...
does that mean that i have to get a new iphone and activate it.... im really confused about this....

Good for you. But, that's NOT what the footnote says. The footnote states Apple devices activated after 9/1 that can run IOS 7.0...nothing about when purchased. Since all iOS devices that can run iOS 7.0 will require "activation" after being updated, I think the footnote needs clarification from Apple, and apparently, I'm not the only one that feels so. This is the second post I've seen regarding this.
Like I said, we'll find out when iOS 7.0 is released, unless Apple gives clarification before hand.

  • ILife gone after clean install

My computer came with iLife 09' for free. I installed Snow Leopard as a clean install and now it's gone. I know I should have thought of this before I did a clean install but now I'm out of luck. Is there any way I can get a copy of iLife 09' if I can give my order number and verify that I am the owner of my computer. iLife has become part of my everyday life and I really don't want to buy it at the Apple Store.

iLife is on the original install discs that came with your computer.
The version on those discs depends on when you purchased the computer. If you purchased a copy of iLife '09 and lost the disc, you may be able to get a replacement.
