ILife 08 included with Mac OS X 10.5 LEOPARD??

I plan to purchase Leopard, but am wondering if iLife 08 (iPhoto etc) is INCLUDED with 10.5 Leopard or not? (I know that iWork 08 -- keynote and pages is NOT included, but kinda thought iLife 08 was bundled with Leopard).
Can anyone tell me? I've tried to find this on the Leopard "Apple Store" area, but I don't find the detials confirming this one way or the other.
Thanks,
Steve Thursday 13 December 2007

Nope, it is not bundled together with Leopard. You need to make separate purchase for that. Only if you buy a new Mac, then you'll get iLife for free.

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • ILife bundled with Mac OS X 10.5.2 ?

    Hi,
I have 2 macbooks, one that I bought when 10.5 came out, one brand new (2 months). The last one came installed with iLife, but not the first. I was looking for iLife on the installation DVD of Mac OS X but could not find it.
Does someone know if it is free with the system ? and why the new version includes iLife ? I had it with my powerbook 2 years ago and I was disapointed to see that I did not get it with my macbook the first time.
The point : If I reinstall Mac OS X, will iLife be installed ?
I don't want to loose it as I need iMovie...
Can I install it on my older macbook as I have the license of 10.5 ?
Thanks for your help and advices

The retail versions of Mac OS X do not include iLife, and they will work with all models of Mac (that the OS itself supports). iLife is sold as a separate product.
The installation media that comes with a new Mac includes Mac OS X and iLife on the DVD. These are the most recent versions at the time the computer was packaged, and, if a new version comes out between the time the computer was packaged and you purchase it, then Apple generally will provide new media to you free of charge with the newer software.
The Mac OS X you find on the installation media that comes with a Mac is specific to the model of Mac that you purchased. It does not contain all the various drivers for all supported models of Mac that are available like the retail version does. So, you cannot purchase a new Mac and then take the installation media to an older model and install it.

  • I should know this but is iLife included with Lion?

I have a 2008 iMac 24" and upgraded to Lion today, iLife 08 was installed when I received the machine and I never upgraded to iLife 09.  After upgrading this morning I was surprised to see that ILife 11 did not appear, was iLife 11 including in the Lion install?  Is there something I am missing on upgrading to the newest version of iLife.  Thanks.

    bobwild wrote:
iLife and Lion are independent of each other. You upgraded Lion and that does not include iLife. You have to upgrade ($$$) to iLife 11 if you want it.
With the App Store, you can now select the iLife App's you want, so if only iPhoto is needed, cost is $15

  • Ilife 08 with MAC OSX 10.4.10

    Hello,
I am a new mac user. I tried to install ilife 08 on 10.4.10 but it wouldn't install for some reason.
Another issue is the apple software could not install updates for some reason. Any help is appreciated.

Also check the Gutenprint site, as it has support for quite a few printers not included in OS X by default. Look here: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3

  • ILife 06 with Mac G4?

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can use iLife 06 on my iMac? There is no integral camera but I'm experimenting with a webcam. Any useful tips would be helpful!
    Thanks,
    Badger

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Yes you can. It's the last version of iLife that works in total with the iMac G4 as for example iMovie 08 won't work with the iMac G4.

  • ILife Included With OS Purchase

If you buy a new version of OS X, does the package come with the latest version of iLife, or does that need to be purchased separately?
    Thanks.

Not sure why you ask that....
The first answer that comes to mind is "Buy them." The only one that is freely available is iTunes.
Just in case, you do know that they sell iLife '06 as a seperate package, right? It's $79 at the Apple Store

  • Compatibility of earlier InDesign versions with Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

For more than 5 years I've happily used my registered ver. of Indesign 2.0 to produce and update my two self-published books (I love it!), only to discover recently that my upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on my Intel dual-core MacMini effectively rendered ID 2.0 inmpatible. Ouch!
Alas, buying ID 5.5  is too pricey for my budget, leaving me with subscribing for $49/mo (great idea, Adobe!) or buying register-able older ver. that is compatible and which I can then upgrade. Adobe tells me ID CS2 qualifies for the upgrade, but I've received conflicting answers as to what is the oldest ver. of ID that is compatible with OS 10.6. A designer associate tells me she has ID CS2 running fine on her MacBook with OS10.6. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks again for your follow up. I'll certainly keep that in mind.
As for "CS2 is unsupported under anything later than 10.4," FWIW,  I find it intriguing that even my mid-Pleistocene ver. of ID 2.0 ran beautifully on my Intel MacMini (purchased in 2006) right up until I installed OS 10.6 this spring. Perhaps the distinction here is technical. Which is to suggest that even though an app may not be "supported," it may nonetheless be "compatible (i.e, runs fine).
Semantics aside, please consider my question answered. I'm obliged to you.

  • PocketMac compatible with Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard?

Before I upgrade to OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, is there an official word, or at least fellow users who can say so definitively, that PocketMac (NOT the upcoming Desktop Manager for the Mac) is compatible with it?
Also, is it compatible with 10.6.1? Because I've seen some users say it worked with 10.6, but stopped working with the 10.6.1 update.
I don't see any word anywhere from RIM about the latest version of the Mac OS that PocketMac is supported with.
I am now using 10.5 Leopard just fine, and need to keep using PocketMac because it syncs my Now Up-To-Date calendars.
    Thanks!

wow, this is exactly what I wanted to ask.  I have just taken stock of an upgrade macbook pro which is running 10.6.1.
I am currently using Pocketmac with my macbook pro 17" running tiger 10.4. Syncing with Entourage 2004 and it "kind of" works most of the time (you know what I mean)
Now, I am taking stock of a new macbook pro 17 and it runs Snow Leopard - also, I will be really wanting to use Entourage 2008, not 2004.
    syncing:
    1/ Entourage Notes
    2/ Entourage tasks
    3/ Entourage Calendar
    4/ Entourage Contacts

  • HP Color LaserJet 2840 Incompatible with MAC OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

The printer defaults to "pause" when attempting to print. Clicking "resume printing" does not unpause the printer. I spent one hour with Apple tech support yesterday with no resolution.
I removed the printer from System Prefs, then reinstalled, but that did not resolve the issue.
HP tech support advised designating "Generic PostScript Printer" in the Print Using box when then adding the printer, but it still defaults to "Pause" when attempting to print anything.
No problems with the Canon Pixma.
    Advice would be much appreciated.

Upon upgrading to Snow Leopard, I could print but could not scan. Deleted all existing printers that pointed to my CLJ 2840. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the 10.5 drivers resulted in a dialog box that stated there was a problem installing /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
The printer was not automatically found, and could not be manually added via HP Setup Utility. I decided to fix the problem with the kernel extension (kext).
I opened a terminal and ran the command
    sudo kextutil /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
which informed me that there were problems with the permissions on that kernel extension. I then ran the commands
    cd /System/Library/Extensions
    sudo chown -R root:wheel hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
    sudo chmod -R g-w,a-w hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
and then rebooted and that seemed to do the trick.
The only thing that doesn't work now is the Fax fuctionality. the URL for the fax is set to "file:///dev/null", which doesn't seem productive at all. I'll post when I discover anything there.

  • Firefox tab to fields and drop down lists with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Has any one else noticed some problems after upgrading to OS X 10.5? It seems I can't tab to every field, such as the "Keep me signed in for today" checkbox on ebay's login page. I used to tab to it before upgrading. I'm also tabbing past some drop down lists where you select the state where you live in sign up pages. And before you suggest it, I have already turned on "All Controls" in System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse. I don't think that affects Firefox anyway since it is a system controls option and doesn't affect the actions in a browser window.
Also, some drop down lists no longer drop down. I can focus on the list and even change the value using the up and down arrows, but the full list is no longer displayed. Again, this changed with the upgrade to Leopard.
If any one has experienced these specific issues or something similar please share your thoughts and solutions.
    Mark

I am also having the drop down problem on my macbook, it's getting really annoying. On top of that, twice today (i just got the macbook three days ago) my keyboard will just stop working- i cannot type in firefox nor in finder or word.

  • Which Display To Use with mac mini?

Is it possible to use an iMac Desktop computer as a display for a mac mini?
Does anyone have the range of different monitors that can be used as a display for the mac mini?
Both answers are crucial to buying a mac mini.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   600 MHz Power PC G 3 512 MB SDRAM

Not directly. You can of course connect to the mini using remote desktop (included with Mac OS - enable it on the Services tab of Security preference pane) and a free VNC client.
It is not fast and snappy like a directly attached monitor - so you will want to use it ocassionally to make remote changes - not day in and day out display.
Best to get a display that supports DVI input (or HDMI) and meets your budget. Here are the specs... (it will drive VGA as well - but it's no longer a digital signal and generally less nice)
DVI video output to support digital resolutions up to 1920 by 1200 pixels; supports 20-inch Apple Cinema Display and 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display; supports coherent digital displays up to 154MHz; supports noncoherent digital displays up to 135MHz

  • MAC address change under MacBook Pro MB133PL/A (Penryn) with Mac OSX 10.5.2

    Hi,
Do you know how to change MAC address of ethernet LAN card (not Wi-Fi) under MacBook Pro MB133PL/A (Penryn) with Mac OSX 10.5.2 (Leopard) ?
    Thanks,

    I use the terminal.
sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr /enter valid mac address here without the slashes/
    press return
    enter superuser password
    press return
This will change the regular wired ethernet port on you MBP. To change the wireless MAC you should replace the en0 with an en1 but if you have a Airport v1.0 card then it will not work. It might work if you have a v2.0 but people seem to have off an on success with that. Also you can attempt putting ether in place of lladdr if you still have issues that need troubleshooting.
I know there are some legit reasons to change the MAC address and many non-legit ones but lets just say for instance a friend of yours has a network or wireless and they forgot their password to control the settings on that network. Long ago when they made the network they limited access to it by binding it to certain MAC addresses namely theirs. Now they have given you permission to use the network but you can't because your computer does not have their mac address. They cannot make the network give you permission because they forgot their password so they give you thier MAC address and let you trick their network into thinking your computer is actually your friend's and then you are able to surf the internet. They won't just let you use their computer cause they need to write an essay offline for a few hours. This does not violate any terms of service, you got permission and unless there are some other extenuating circumstances this is a legit move. I assume this is the exact reason you want this information.
