Ilife 11 upgrade registration

Hi all,
I got a disc to upgrade to ilife 11 under the Hardware uptodate programme and bought a right to copy onto 1 extra machine.
I installed the upgrade on my imac with no issues. I installed from same disc on my MBP and it is fine but requires online registration.
I went to the page and it wants a Marketing Part Number for the software. The guidance I have is reproduced below.
https://register.apple.com/html/enUK/LocateMPN.html
1. Product Packaging Label
In general, the Marketing Part Number (MPN) can be found on the outer label of your product’s packaging near the bar code.
To easily identify the MPN, look for the number starting with a letter, followed by a series of numbers.
(Example: M######/#)
Please note that for Apple Software, your MPN can only be found on the Product Packaging Label.
THERE IS NO BAR CODE OR MPN ON THE DISC, PAPER SLEEVE OR ANYWHERE!
How do I register a product if they haven't sent the required info?

Here's how to register your software:
+2. How do I register my software?+
+If you have purchased a standalone Apple software product (that is, it was not included with a new Apple Computer,) you should register your software at http://www.apple.com/register. Simply choose “Apple Software” from the Category Menu in Step 2 of the registration process.+
+If you received your new Apple software product along with your new Apple Computer (i.e., it was preinstalled), you do not have to register the software. Register the computer and we'll know that you have the software, since it was included.+
What the registration does is get you on an Apple mailing list for new products and news releases.

Only if you pay again. There is no credit in the Mac App Store for having bought the DVD or iOS version of a product.

  • Does Mountain Lion include iLife upgrade?

Does an upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion include an iLife upgrade? Or, does that require a separate purchase. I was just getting ready to upgrade my iLife, but then considered the upgrade to ML.

Once you install Mountain Lion, you should be able to update the applications if you already have them installed. I was able to when I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

  • MacBook won't recognize iLife upgrade

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my 3-4 year old MacBook to Snow Leopard. Although Snow Leopard itself installed easily, when I tried to upgrade iLife it told me the "disc was unreadable by this computer". I then tried it on a newer MacBook Pro which did recognize the disc. However, iWork from the same package installed on the old computer without a hitch. Should I take the disc back in for a refund, or is there something I can do to enable my computer to read it? I'm not sure how to handle this. Thanks!

    Hello Everyone,
I am also experiencing the very same issue with my 4 yr. old Macbook. I upgraded to Snow Leopard, iWork, and iLife. Snow Leopard and iWork upgraded without a problem. However, iLife was rejected by my Macbook with "disc was unreadable by this computer". I have upgraded memory to 2GB. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. (unable to locate my receipt at this time) Thanks in advance.

  • ILife upgrade DVD won't read

I bought iLife 06 for my eMac but the DVD's won't mount. They have sent three and none will mount. I saw a thread about a firmware update for superdrives but when I attemtpted the upgrade I got a message that it wasn't needed. Anyone else having problems with these software DVD's? standard movies or movies i have burned work fine. cdroms play fine, both factory and burned.

Is your DVD drive an original part, or is it a third party DVD drive? If it is third party, then you may have some compatibility issues with it. I would recommend calling the manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers.
Another thing that you may want to try is to upgrade to Tiger (or reinstall Panther and upgrade it, but this is time consuming and doesn't yield much benefit). The latest version of OS X always has the latest fixes and hardware compatibility patches.
If all else fails, take the machine and the software into the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and see what they can do about it.
    Good luck to you.

  • Recently Downloaded OS X Mavericks, why aren't iWork and iLife upgrading?

Upgraded to Mavericks, but iWork and iLife apps aren't upgrading!? WHY??!! Please help!

Don't worry I think many people
are experiencing apple store problems at
    the moment.
I too have this problem with iWork and
Aperture. All apps are reg. to me. My account
Refused to download and gave me a broken installer
    First time around.
Amazingly my pro apps were all unaffected.
Still waiting on iLife and iWork to be sorted out.

  • Itunes 8 "unexpectedly quits" since installing ilife upgrade

    Hi all-
I upgrade to ilife '08, and now iTunes won't even launch, I immediately get an "unexpectedly quit" error. Very sad, especially now with the new iPhoto working so well. Any suggestions?
    - lisa

I previously had itunes 8 & 10.4.11 with no problems. Now I installed ilife08 and itunes quits before it really ever opens. I did try the ilife 08 update version 8.3, but now I see that is actually what I had purchased. It made no difference. Then I downloaded and reinstalled itunes 8 again from the itunes website. Itunes now opens again without a problem.
Not sure what the glitch is, but it is very frustrating when you are made to believe these products would be compatible.

  • ILife upgrade but keep old iMovie

I'm thinking of upgrading to the newest version of iLife and since my Mac's processor is not fast enough for the new iMovie, I am wondering if I will still have the option of just upgrading the other iLife apps but keeping my old version of iMovie? Will all the other new apps still be compatible with my old version of iMovie?
Currently I have iMovie HD installed.
    Thanks,

iMovie 08 is NOT an upgrade of iMovie 06. It is a completely new application. iMovie 08 is better for absolute beginners that don't want to burn a DVD. Most others will like iMovie 06 for its far greater editing power and ease of making DVDs. (Like creating Chapter Markers and Share to iDVD.)
Most owners of iLife 08 I know use iMovie 06.
iMovie 08 is a wonderful program assuming that you're using it for what it was designed to do, assemble simple videos to share on the Internet.
Remember that Apple includes iMovie 06 is a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)

  • ILife Upgrade [9/26/07]-Does it help?

I purchased iLife 08 when it came out, but have not installed it for fear of ruining my existing websites from all the problems everyone is having. Does the new iLife release help at all? I know there was no iWeb component in it, but I wondered if the iLife Support component had any effect.

    I asked this question...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1152021&tstart=0
... and, so far, nobody seems to know.
The only thing I can get is that we "must" install it.

  • Can't connect to personal domain since iLife upgrade

I would REALLy appreciate any direction here
I have a site - www.askkaty2write.com - which I give clients to see my writing samples. I upgraded it iLife09 yesterday and now cannot connect to my personal domain. I get the "Looking for something on Mobile Me" error page. I am totally freaking out.
I phoned Godaddy, who told me that the domain name is still pointed to the mobileme servers, and really, all that has changed in 24 hours is the upgrade, so it must lie within Apple. I used the online tech support but literally got no where - two different tech people who couldn't help at all.
Any type of direction would be so very appreciated. thank you!!

You use URL forwarding to this page that does not exist :
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site3/The_WriteStuff.html
Your default page in Site_3 is :
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site3/Ask_Katy_2Write.html
Perhaps using only the Sitename will get you out of trouble when you change/delete pages.:
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site_3/
If you change/delete the Sitename you will get the same problem.
One can avoid this kind of "problems" by simple paying attention to what one does, and remember it.

  • Iphoto pictures after iLife upgrade

Can't see some pictures in iphoto since i installed iLife. I get a ! instead of an image. this every happen to anyone?

    drew61:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The "!" means that the library has lost the file path to the original file. This happens when there has been an interruption to iPhoto while it is writing to it's database file, Library6.iPhoto. Moving, renaming files or folder inside the library package while in the Finder is another way you can get that indication. Try the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. Report back on how long it took and how many photos you have in the library so we can give other users an idea of how long it may take.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Broken links to photos since iLife upgrade

When I try to open a previously completed project, a window opens with a list of files that cannot be found. If I click Cancel, the project still opens but there are a lot of thumbnails that indicate a broken link. When I click Find File, it runs a search but does not return any results. Is my only option a manual repair of the links? I'm not even sure which photo belongs where. Does Apple have a utility that will set the computer back to a certain date? I'm kicking myself for not remembering to back up the file to my ext hd.

Are you sure that you do not have some errant search criteria in your browser search box - this is usually the cause of something like this - if the "links were broken" the symptoms would usually be very different.

  • I should have never upgraded to iLife 06!

I am very unhappy with what has happened since I upgraded to iLife '06. All of our old DVD projects, which we wanted to give away as presents to some other people, are totally borked!
    1) One project for our Grandfather's funeral I have can no longer find the iPhoto pictures that we had. The path has completely changed to the photos, and I have no way of figuring out if the IMG_0005.jpg picture I need is actually the right one (because there are multiple IMG_0005.jpg's for different rolls and years).
    2) Another project we have for a friend's wedding will no longer even open! I just click it to open the project, and returns me back to the Open Exisiting Project dialog.
I am thoroughly disgusted with what has happened. Anyone know any solution for this? If this is the future from Apple, I am done.

You have an indexing problem with iPhoto that has been discussed here several times. (After an iLife upgrade, I always open the iApps in the iPhoto, iMovie and then iDVD sequence.)
I understand your frustration with the upgrade, but your title isn't likely to attract the kind of attention you need - you need to be more specific, like iPhoto images can't be found - or something like that. "Rants' rarly get attention.
I suggest you go to the iPhoto forum and ask for help. Old Toad will be able to help you (you might even do a search on this forum for Old Toad).

  • SL upgrade come with iLife too?

I just got a new mac air and 10$ upgrade is coming in. DOes anyone know if I will get the iLife upgrade in that (iPhoto etc.)? Thanks

If you have a new Mac you already have the latest iLife.
Snow Leopard does not come with iLife for your $10 upgrade
There is no upgrade for iLife, iLife 09 just came out the beginning of this year.
When you install Snow Leopard it will upgrade the OS, and your applications will still be there.
