ILife apps in Yosemite install but remain as pending updates
Ages ago, I aquired the iLife and iWorks apps (GarageBand, iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Numbers, Pages). I now upgraded from 10.8 to 10.10 (english).
The App Store now shows the following strange behaviour:
1. I could update all apps except GarageBand from the Purchases tab.
2. GarageBand I had to purchase again, what I did.
3. After reboot, all six apps work.
4. However, they all still appear as UPDATE (except GarageBand which appears as INSTALL) in the App Store.
5. A non iLife app like FinalCutPro updated properly too AND is recognized as installed properly.
PROBLEM and QUESTION:
How do I get the App Store to recognize the former iLife apps as installed and current?

Reboot holding down the Command and R keys. This will get you in to the Recovery partition. From there you can reinstall the entire OS. Please note, Server.app will not be included in the reinstall. You will need to log into your App store account to download it.

My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time.
I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?

An app is considered to be installed if it shows up in a Spotlight search of local volumes. Bring up a search window in the Finder by pressing the key combination command-F. Search This Mac for the name of the application. Delete all copies that are found.

i signed in with an account that has a 6.99 dollar purchased app and pressed install but i got billed for it it should of been free
We won't know until you try the procedure. The reset will not affect the content of the iPod.

You are welcome! I played with the 928 in a Verizon store and really liked it. Besides the great camera and Nokia Maps, I'd be pretty excited about Nokia Music, too. As I understand it, this free app lets you create playlists from its entire music library, which can be stored on your device to listen to any time.

Interesting. It was 24th January last year when I bought my App Store 09 version. (My first foray into the App Store).
I don't remember whether it updated the original or replaced it but the only version in my App folder is 09, so it must have been the latter. Thanks for the star. -
I have apps from old work account that I can't remember the password to. On my personal phone those apps keep showing up but I can't update them because I can't remember the password. How can I delete them and download on my new account?
Tap and hold an app until they all start jiggling and an X appears in the icon's top left corner. One by one tap the X to delete the app. when they are all gone you are free to buy them again with your own account.

my ipod says it is updated to most current 6.1.6, i use the rdio app and it worked but now with the update it needs 7.0 but i do not get option to update to this what do i do?

Some of my purchased apps show installed but don't appear as icons on my phone. How do I get them to be icons?
I am back. I have now sorted out my Launch Pad to be organized the way I want it. I have decluttered my Dock. Very nice.
Now I want to add some of the remaining icons for apps that did not automatically show up in Launch Pad. So, again, how do I do that?

ILife apps with clean install to Mavericks?
My Macbook came pre-installed with the iLife apps (e.g., iPhoto, iMovie, etc.) when I first purchased it back in 2009 (with Snow Leopard OS). For the past few OS updates, i've just upgraded and my apps have remained. This time around i went for a clean install, since i've been having some issues. Is there any way for me to get my iLife apps back from my TimeMachine back up of my old machine? Or any other way for me to get them?

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer..)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy... Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings. -
App store means installed but it isn't
I want to install the Kindle App out of the App Store but my Mac Book Pro needs more than a quarter hour to install. I just do an normal restart and now the app store means it is installed but i can't find it in the lunch pad or in the programs folder.
How i can to reset the app store, so i can install the app again?

a quarter of an hour? It's only a 46.9MB file. That should not take a minute on a broadband connection. Maybe two or three minutes on DSL.
If a "resume" doesn't help, if installed, disable anti virus software then try to resume the download.
The Little Snitch app can prevent apps from downloading or any other network monitoring software.
And check Gatekeeper.
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Select: Mac App Store and identified developers
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password before proceeding.

Beyond that... restart your router and try again. -
Why won't my apps update on my ipad? I have 7 updates waiting to go and when I click on them they all say they are installing but they have never completed their installation? Please help
Try resetting ...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
You won't lose any data as a result of a reset.
