ILife gone?

I'm a complete moron... I forgot that Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard did not come with iLife, so I did an erase and install... now suddenly I find myself searching for iPhoto which alas does not exist in my Applications folder... Is there a way to use my old Tiger disks that came with my MacBook Pro to install just iLife? Or do you recommend reinstalling with my original disks, then upgrading to Leopard from there... I have all my music, etc backed up to a Maxtor 500 GB external hard-drive right now so thats not a problem... Any advice?

You can install from optional extras install on your Tiger CD/DVD _that came with your Mac_, the "Bundled Software" installation. That will put back the iLife applications.

  • ILife gone after clean install

My computer came with iLife 09' for free. I installed Snow Leopard as a clean install and now it's gone. I know I should have thought of this before I did a clean install but now I'm out of luck. Is there any way I can get a copy of iLife 09' if I can give my order number and verify that I am the owner of my computer. iLife has become part of my everyday life and I really don't want to buy it at the Apple Store.

iLife is on the original install discs that came with your computer.
The version on those discs depends on when you purchased the computer. If you purchased a copy of iLife '09 and lost the disc, you may be able to get a replacement.

  • Iphoto and ilife gone!

I discovered today that iphoto and the rest of ilife are suddenly not on my macbook anymore! They're not in the applications folder and I searched for them on the computer with no use.
I bought the macbook the day Leopard came out. It came with Tiger on it and Leopard on a CD. The Leopard CD was the only one it came with, and I don't see ilife on the CD.
How can I get ilife back?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
They are on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert and opt to install 'Bundled Applications Only'.

  • ILife gone after ML Update

I bought a Macbook Air recently , came pre-installed with Lion with iLife.
As apple gave me free upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion , I updated sucessfully , wiping my SSD.
Now iLife is missing , and says $19.9 in the app store. What to do now ?

In the App Store try clicking on Purchases while holding down the option key. When you bought your mac iLife was pre-installed? Didn't you have to download from the App Store? Where did you buy your mac?

  • ILife gone after rewriting Lion?

I rewrote lion onto my computer that was shipped with snow leopard.  I now do not have iLife on my computer how do I get it back? I never received a disk they were part of snow leopard with a free upgrade to iLife 11 when I bought them with my 27" iMac mid 2011 shipped with snow Leopard but had a free upgrade to Lion.

If your Mac originally came with Snow Leopard then it also came with DVD discs. One for the OS and one for Applications, the iLife programs and other things like the Apple Hardware Test.
If you no longer have these discs then you will need to contact Apple and order replacemnt disc for a nominal charge.
Other then that you will need to buy the current versions of the iLife apps from the MAS but there are 2 missing that come on the DVD. iWeb and iDVD are the ones missing.

  • ILife gone after Leopard clean install

Hi, I just made a clean install of mac os x leopard on an old macbook pro (2004). I just realize that it comes without iLife. How can I get iLife back? I don't have the original grey install dvd's anymore. Thanks.

Your pre-bundled software is reinstalled using the Optional Install package in the same-named folder on your original installer disc. Since you don't have them you have to purchase replacements:

  • ILife '08 Gone?!

I just got my MacBook Pro like on the 26th and it totally messed up or something, so I went to The Apple Store and had a Genius help me out. He told me that Leopard had to be reinstalled and he did it and now everything's working the way it's supposed to be, but iLife 08 is gone!
I'm looking at the backup CDs, but I only got Tiger Install Disc 1 and 2 and Leopard install disc..... How do I get back iLife short of coughing up $79? Would be on one of those install discs?

1st you should have got a copy of the CD's in your box (I did)
2nd go back to the store and ask

  • Somewhat old iPhone 5, gonna upgrade to ios 7. asking about iWork and iLife.

i was watcing the event last night where tim cook revealed the iphone 5s and 5c and he was saying that iWork suite apps and iLife suite apps are gonna become free. this morning i check the apple website and was looking at the specs of the iPhone 5s and when i scrolled all the way to the bottom it said something about devices activated after sept. 1, 2013 will have iWork and iLife available to them...
does that mean that i have to get a new iphone and activate it.... im really confused about this....

Good for you. But, that's NOT what the footnote says. The footnote states Apple devices activated after 9/1 that can run IOS 7.0...nothing about when purchased. Since all iOS devices that can run iOS 7.0 will require "activation" after being updated, I think the footnote needs clarification from Apple, and apparently, I'm not the only one that feels so. This is the second post I've seen regarding this.
Like I said, we'll find out when iOS 7.0 is released, unless Apple gives clarification before hand.

  • IPhoto is gone - Running under iLife 05

Went in to send some photos up to my .mac website and discovered that iPhoto was gone. Not found in Finder under applications or on the HD.
Pulled out my CDs that came with my iMac G5. No sign of iLife 05.
How do I get iPhoto back?!?
I did see a post about running the disk utility which I did. No success.

and discovered that iPhoto was gone.<<<</div>
That just doesn't happen by itself. Someone trashed it and emptied the trash.
Pulled out my CDs that came with my iMac G5. No sign of iLife 05.<<<</div>
If your Mac came with iLife-5, the loader should be there but it might not be obvious. You might wish to Google for a utility called "Pacifist." It will help you extract individual loaders from system load CDs.

  • ILife 11: Guitarlessons gone !!

I upgraded to Ilife 11, but now my guitarlessons are gone, including all the artist ones that I bought.
If I redownload them, apple wants me tocharge for it again.
What am i doing wrong ?
    Thanks

Doesn't sound right. I have previous lessons from GB 5, and they are still there.
The ultimate decides is are they in: /Library/Applications Support/GarageBand/Learn To Play/Artist Lessons
GB '11 changed the UI - there are now three tabs - Guitar, Piano, and Artist. Did you look under the artist tab?
Did you delete anything before you installed GB '11?

  • ILife is Gone

After a clean "Erase and Install" of Leopard, the iLife suite is gone.
    Called Apple support, was told:
[Support]: "Just so you know iLife is now a separate bundle. It will not be installed with Leopard."
[Me]: "So by spending $120 on your latest OS I lost iLife completely?"
[Support]: "No . . . Well technically yes."
    [Me]: "OK. Bye."
    [Support]: "Bye."

Performing an Erase & Install will delete the iLife applications from your computer; they can be restored from your computer's original disks or iLife installation disk.

  • I know this is a Tiger forum but is Lepord gonna have ilife 08 built in.

Should I wait of lepord or buy ilife 08 now?

    Hi Newbee007;
If you want iLife 08, buy it. If past history is any indication, Leopard will not include it. None of the other major upgrades included it.

  • ILife Apps Gone!  Re-Install from Leopard DVD?

    OK.
I went to import some pictures today, and noticed that I'm missing my iLife '08 Apps... I really don't know what happened to them, and I'm pretty adept at using my Mac and computers in general, so I don't HOW this has happened.
My question is, I can't figure out how to JUST install iLife '08 from the Leopard install discs, is there an easy way to do this?
    Thanks

Before any installation, it is wise to backup your data*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
A clone would have ensured your iLife applications would not have been lost prior to installation.
If your Mac shipped with Leopard, the restore discs include iLife.
If your Mac shipped prior to Leopard (October 26, 2007) you won't find iLife on the Leopard installer you used to install Leopard on your Mac, but will find iLife on your restore discs which shipped with your Mac.
If you purchased your Mac prior to iLife '08 (August 7, 2007), you'll need the retail iLife '08 package to install iLife '08 on your Mac.
The restore disc install instructions are here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301468
If neither of them seems to work, you might be able to extract the important files with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist.

  • IPhoto library Gone! (replaced in just one click w/o ever dragging 2 Trash)

iPhoto library gone / replaced in just one click (w/ o ever dragging anything to the trash)!
I currently own multiple PowerMacs all sharing the same high speed local network. All of them run the latest / Mac OS X.4.9 and have multiple HD’s (both internal and external) as well as iLife’ 06. And all of them also have iChatAV3 and are able to video chat one with the other at will while on the same local high speed network.
This is my very first iPhoto library nightmare since I’ve owned a mac. and yes I’ve always been conditioned to backup everything one wishes to keep. This particular scenario is no different. (altho my back up HD for one of the three G4 computers involved was a bit dated by at least 6 months).
This was essentially triggered via two separate iLife ‘06 apps , namely iPhoto and iChatAV3 (combined with at least an ounce of stupidity on my part). That combined with 2 people not communicating properly / being on the same page (or rather the same Folder) when working on the very same task. Hey... I do NOT claim to be an expert at this particular application even though I have used macs since apple first introduced the Apple IIe decades ago. So this does not stem from lack of experience but rather not thinking things thru entirely in terms of all the possible consequences of simple, yet catastrophic actions when it comes to replacing or authenticating one particular folder containing the entire iPhoto Library simply titled “pictures”.
Starts like this, ichatav is open on 2 of three macs and my teenage daughter asks me to send her a roll of pictures she downloaded into my computer (since it’s twice as fast as her own) from her digital still camera. Now she wants all 12 photos on her computer as well. So I drag all 12 photos to my desktop and place them in a folder titled “Jackies pics”. I drag this folder to her icon on my buddy list and ichat AV simply refuses to allow sending the entire folder and ask me to send them one at a time. That should have been my first clue. Strange I thought. Always worked well in the past. Why not now? So I tell her over ichatav that the app simply won’t allow me to send her the entire folder and that I’ll have to send them one at a time. Please make a new folder on your HD called Jackie’s pics. She agrees and creates a folder on her end called .... (you guessed it) ...... “pictures”...... to which she drags each of the 12 images I sent over our local network.
Little did she realize this newly created folder has the makings of an atomic bomb when it comes to importing the entire folder into iPhoto’s library on her own mac. A dialog box quickly materializes asking that she “authenticate” or hit cancel. So she ask me what to do. I said that’s fine, hit authenticate (assuming she titled it Jackies pics). BIG mistake! She hits authenticate and now she has the 12 images I sent her in iPhoto....BUT .... the 1600 or so originals in the entire iPhoto library quickly vanishes. Her entire iphoto library is now wiped out or rather replaced with this new folder. She asks me, what happened? And in less than 30 seconds she in complete tears. Over 2-3 years of her photos (all 1600 images) gone in the click of a mouse.
Today is father’s day .... and I remembered that I have a complete backup of her HD (even though it is a bit dated). So together, we managed to recover about 90% of the lost images. If anyone reading this knows how I can possibly recover the final 10% (most current photos) then please help us.
Bottom line: We were fortunate. This Father’s Day iPhoto Nightmare ended happily....
    TIA
    (3) G4 PM's/(3) S-Drives/Sony TRV900/Nikons/6FWHD's/PS7/iLife06/FCPHD/DVDSP/etc. Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Just another update .... Today, my daughter was multitasking on her G4 powermac working within iPhoto as well as email account and last but not least the latest iTunes. As she opened this final app (and I mean "final").... her entire hard drive bit the dust after she saw the spinning beachball and hence attempted to force quit. (I should also point out we are having a heat wave in San Diego today ...which also may have contributed to this hardware issue mainly).
This time, I had a complete updated copy of her HD and simply cloned it to a new hard drive. Took me a few hours to troubleshoot, clone and install a new drive in its place. But all is working normally again (sure hope it stays that way this time).
Friendly reminder to those who read this post .....
BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP .... ESPECIALLY IN IPHOTO & ITUNES!

  • Move iLife 06 apps from old Hard drive to new hard drive

I have an original Mac G4 450mhz Desktop running 10.3.9. The original 25gb drive kept leading to the message system disk is almost full, so I installed a new 75gb hard drive as well as a newer technology 1.8ghz processor. I reinstalled my system on the new 75gb drive and am installing only the apps I want on the new drive. 10 years of use have really left a lot of clutter on the old drive, so I figured this would give me a clean start. The only problem is I can't find my iLife 06 install disks. I simply copied the applications from one drive to the other, iTunes works fine, iPhoto allows me to view, rate and tag photos but if I try to edit I'm told that I'm missing system software, reinstall the program. iMovie won't even open because I'm missing the newest quartz framework component which is located on the install disk, reinstall the program.
I can still use the old drive as my startup disk and everything works fine except for the same start up disk full message. Is there a way I can find and move the missing files from one drive to the other. iLife 06 is gone now that 08 is out and I imagine finding a Tiger upgrade will be difficult now that leopard is out, to upgrade to 08 and then go back to iMove 06. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I would try ebay for a copy of the install disks.
The iLife apps make calls all over the system for files and libraries.
