Ilife in canadian mac book

Wondering why only the canadian macbook comes with ilife 06 rather than ilife 08 which is standard on all other macs from waht i can see.

You misunderstood what I meant. Canada imports the computer. They go through customs and all duties are paid. This stock is brand new just hasn't been sold. When this stock has been sold it is replaced with newer stock that goes through the same process. At least this is the way it was when I worked at Panasonic. The cost to export those unsold computers back, put the software in, rebox and ship back would be horrendous. That is the reason for the up to date program.
But you are correct if you live close to the border it would be cheaper to buy in the US. Of course once you pay the customs duty fees to bring it into Canada it may not be such a big savings.

The power supply (which is what I assume you call an adaptor) can be used to charge her MacBook, provided that it is of a similar or larger output. If you both have the same screen size MacBook the power supplies will be the same.

ILife'11 for Mac Book Air

Hi,
I purchased a Mac Book Air (Mid 2013) model recently and was hoping whether I am eligible for a free copy of the iLife'11 recently released by Apple. It was only a shortwhile back when I purchased it.
Please let me know if any other infiormation is needed.

I have a new Mac Book Pro with iLife 11 that does not contain iDVD, where can I buy it?

I worked since 7 years on a iBook G4 and made hundreds of DVD with iLife. When I bought the Mac Book Pro at the Apple Store they told me that iLife 11 does no more contain iDVD but it works differently. Now I miss this software that was easy to work on. I couldn't fint it at the App.store. Where can I find it?

iDVD is a “Must Have".   (Yes, it should be included.)

iTunes in Mac OS X Tiger is outdated. Open  > Software Update to install the latest iTunes version for Tiger.
If you need iTunes 10.7 or a newer version, you have to upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. First, check that your Mac is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 If it is, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After buying Snow Leopard, make a backup of your data, insert the DVD and upgrade to Snow Leopard. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install the latest Snow Leopard version. Finally, run Software Update again to install iTunes 11.0.4. If you want to install iTunes 10.7 instead, download it from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1576

Ilife missing on Lion (mac Book Pro) after installing on new drive

Certified apple service installed the Lion os on a SDD drive in Mac Book Pro 15''. I received the Mac and on the same day went with a SDD drive to iStore so that they would replace the drives and install the OS on it.
The problem is that I don't see iLife on it and as far as I know it should be included. The app store doesn't even show it to me...
Any idea what to do??

Mac book pro 2011 iLIFE programs to MAC OS X MAVERICKS

I have a mac book pro 2011 13" with os snow leopard and I'm wondering if, installing mac os x maveriks, I will lose my iphoto program and I must buy it after installing the new os x.
Now I use and I have iLife programs free from Leopard but I was reading that the i Life packet will be free only on new users...

From a fellow Canadian. Yes the warranty is valid in Canada, indeed anywhere in the world.
At Canada Customs you will have to pay HST on the purchase, unless you can persuade Customs that the cost was less than the permitted exemption. If you do pay HST, the cost will be the same as buying it here, within the daily fluctuations of the exchange rate.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

How can I use bluetooth to send data to my mac book pro?

I can connect my smartphone (nokia) to my Mac Book Pro, but if I try to send something from Nokya to my Mac using bluetooth, that's impossible. The only way is to search what I wanto to store in my Mac, using the Mac and browse my Nokia with Finder.
Is this correct ??

Before i did the update for Lion I had a icon for find my iPhone. Now its gone how do I find that icon on my Mac book pro

Ok I am very unplease with this new Mac Book pro. i guess its not the computer but man when you get on any windows computer, they are all about the same and easy to use. i am having alot of problems trying to find things like where to burn a home made video. I call apple and they say to use imovie but guess what, you cant burn a disc there. i have done almost everthing i could and it seems this computer is going to cost me about 2000 bucks more by the time i finish buying the apps needed for me to use as a student. so most like i am going to return it before the 14 days. Ok, I misunderstood. The Find My iPhone app is on your iPhone or iPad, not on your Mac. If it is not in iTunes under Apps, then try downloading it again. It is free.
iDVD has apparently been dropped with new Macs. It is rumored to still be available on the iLife DVDs, but I don't know how long that may last. I've never used anything else, so I don't know what to replace it with. I think Toast will burn a DVD, but I don't know if it will do all the design and menu things.

Just installed new hard drive in mac book pro 15", when trying to boot OSX from original disk I still get a folder with a question mark in it. How can I reinstall the OS?

Can't seem to get my mac book to boot from the CD after installing new hard drive.
I keep holding down "c" while restarting the machine with the disk in but it just keeps ejecting the disk and giving me a folder with a question mark.

If your on 10.5 with a Intel Mac, I think Apple has jinxed the firmware so you can't boot from the 10.5 disk anymore.
So far several people, myself included, can't boot from a 10.5 OS X disk on a Intel Mac.
Your going to have to buy a 10.6.3 Snow Leopard retail disk, it's wayyy better than 10.5 anyway, faster and most stable even better than Lion. Have to buy iLife though as it doesn't come on the 10.6.3 retail disks, only free with grey disks.

Choosing between Mac Book and Mac Book Pro??

Hi,
I need a laptop for school and to do a bit of Photoshop and HTML but i don't no wich Macbook should i choose. Here is why im confuse :
I saw this add of a Mac Book Pro 2.53 (320g 7500rpm-4gig RAM) with apple care for 2500$ new and sealed but im not sure if its what i needed.
On the other hand i tough of buying a bran new MacBook 2.4 (1749 cnd$) and upgrade the RAM to 4 gig wich will cost me 150$ + the apple care.
My question is wich one is better and would you trusted the buy a NEW used Mac Book Pro. The guy said that he has all the receipt and he's selling it because he want to buy a MacPro. Apple give im a new labtop because is older one has to many repair to do.
Awaiting for your comment/suggestion on what you would do.

Well, I can only offer my advice as to what I would do. Everyone is different, but here it goes.
If you're not doing anything super intensive (HTML/Photoshop plus your usual web-browsing isn't too intensive) you'll have more than enough computer with the 2.4 MB (even without the RAM upgrade! But it can't hurt to do the upgrade if you're wiling to spend the money).
Personally I wouldn't want to take over someones laptop. Let me ask a few questions about the computer listed and some exchange rates.
2.53 MBP, is that the previous model, or the UniBody. And that $2500 is in Canadian I assume (because the new 2.66 UniBody is $2499 US). If it's the previous model it doesn't even appear to be much of a discount for being used.
My feelings are that the person is getting rid of the laptop for a reason. If they were 100% happy with the product, they wouldn't be looking to upgrade to a new computer.
I'd go with the 2.4 MB if I were you. I'm very happy with mine. It'll be enough computer for at least the next 4 years (if taken care of).
