Ilife not opening

Hello dear.. i reinstall my mac yesterday, and by mistake o smthin i ended up havin 2 user account on my system, now on one of the account i can open ilife : itunes, iphotos etc and on other i cannot.. wheneva i try to open it, it shows u dont have permission to open it file are on locked disc...and even when im connecting my system with my iPhone iPhoto icone doesn't pop up as it does noramlly, even i cant use mail its sayin u have read only access.. im pretty sure its coz i have two user account is theres any way i can delete one or keep where i have everythin n everythin is working...... Thanks in advance.. Hope u understand and have solution..

Please start by reviewing the info in Mac OS X 10.6 Help: What is a user account? As it explains, each user has a separate home folder, a secure & separate place where all that user's documents are stored. So if you log into one user account, you cannot see the photos, music, etc. documents of another user, even if both users are really you.

The seller should have given you the original disk so that you can reinstall as needed. But it likely was a single-user license (which really means single computer) so you can only have a copy on one computer at a time. If the seller didn't give you the disk he is probably still using the software on his new Mac. Your best option to get any of the iWork apps to use in OS X 10.6.6 or later is through the Mac App Store. You can then install them on any Mac you have that has access to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID.

Iphoto will not open I am asked to check with developer that iphoto works with this version of OS x. I have Mountain Lion OS X I have followed all the steps recomended  by T Devlin in a previous discussionand reinstalle ILife but to no avail

To reinstall iPhoto you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the:
    HD/Library/Receipts folder (10.5 and earlier)
    or from the /var/db/receipts/  folder (10.6) .
or from the /private/var/db/receipts folder (10.7 or later)
Then install iPhoto from the source it came from originally.

  • Ical, isync will not open after restoring ilife 04 onto tiger

    Hi,
I've just used my old 10.3.5 disks to reinstall ilife on a powerbook that is now running tiger (for whatever reason, iphoto and imovie disappeared upon upgrade while the other applications didn't). Perhaps stupidly, I reinstalled all the extra applications on the disc, including ical and isync, instead of just the ones I needed. Everything works except for these two - the ical icon has changed to a piece of paper, pencils, and a ruler, and won't open, just giving one bounce and then quitting without a message. Same for isync, except the icon has stayed the same.
Most of the fixes I've looked at for ical not opening mentioned clearing something in isync but i can't get at it! any suggestions?
    Thanks for any help!

    Mr. Lemur,
iLife '04 was bundled with your computer, and it should be located on your Software Install and Restore DVD, not a Panther disc.
Macintosh Restore DVD: How to install iMovie, iPhoto, or iTunes using Mac OS X Software Install may also be a helpful link.

  • I have just loaded my iLife disc and now my iPhoto will not open

I have just loaded iLife 11 which I have had for over a year and now my iPhoto will not open, how can I overcome this problem.

I have just loaded iLife 11 which I have had for over a year
You mean, you reinstalled iLife from the iLIfe '11 installer? If your current iPhoto library has been edited using a newer iPhoto version, you need first to update to the latest version you used. Update from the -menu > Software Update.
Then try again to launch iPhoto.
now my iPhoto will not open, how can I overcome this problem.
If updating to the latest version does not solve this, explain exactly, in what way "iPhoto will not open". What is the error message, and what is your MacOS X version?

  • ILife '11/ iphoto will not open

I just recently bought my new macbook pro in january 2011 and i am trying to open iphoto, however it will not open because
it requests to be updated by going to Software Update...
I did that and it still won't open. So i've tried running the Software Update again but it says everything is up to date.
I need to use iphoto to put photos on my iphone but i can't even open it.
    Please help!

Have you moved iPhoto from it's original location? Put it in a folder or something similar?

I have reinstalled Mac OSX 10.6.3 and done the updates from there.
I have reinstalled ilife 11 from disk and done the updates.
I have deleted all the suggested files and then redone install and updates.
I have tried just reinstalling iphoto and doing updates.
Is there any way to get a replacement -  /Library/Frameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework/Versions/A/iLifeSlideshow

  • IPhoto not open in Leopard

    Hi ALL,
Probable he wrong forum, but I have iPhoto 2 an is NOT opening in Leopard.
Is there a link where i Can download a iPhoto version that runs in Leopard?
Or can I extract it from a original install CD from a OSX version that I own. Like Jaguar - Panther - Tiger ??
Thanks for helping me out in this matter ...
    Dimaxum

You need at least iPhoto 4 or later to run iPhoto in 10.5.
The only way to upgrade from v2 is to purchase an iLife package.

  • I just updated my mac and when i went to open iphoto it says it "can not open because of a problem" how do i fix this?

i just updated my mac and when i went to open iphoto it says it "can not open because of a problem" how do i fix this?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • IPhoto will not open since upgrading to OSX 10.8

Hi, has anyone come across this since upgrading to Mountain Lion. iPhoto will not open and I get the below error message. I was previously on OSX 10.6 with all updates applied to the OS. I upgrade the iPhoto app under iLife 11 on OSX 10.6 and it worked fine. Since I upgrade to the new Mountain Lion OS, iPhoto will not open. I tried to rebuild the library using the command and option (alt) key but it will not give me the option to rebuild. Should I attempt to delete the application and reinstall?  Any assistance would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

I tried that Terence but keep getting the same message. Firstly, after reinstalling iPhoto, it requires me to upgrade via the App store, and then I get the below message. The odd thing is that my iphoto version is 9.2 whilst the upgrade from the App store refers to version 9.1. The version line item per the below message appears to have changed from the initial message in my first posting here.

  • Projects Will Not Open

Ok, I will start this sad story from the beginning. When I returned home from Xmas holiday I found my hard drive crashing. I took my Mac and all my software disk to a guy that has always done me right and he began to salvage what he could off the failing hard drive. He was able to get off about 4 movies. I have taped my kids’ life since 1999, so I lost a lot.
When I got my computer back (with new hard drive) I opened the movies that I have and they ran fine in iMovie and QuickTime. Yesterday I sat down to begin the process of rebuilding my movie library from DV tapes I have. I imported about 4min. of movie into a new project, saved closed and went to open one of the few old projects I had to look at it again and I got an error 'could not open the project you chose'. I had just opened this same project about an hour ago. I then went to open one of the other old projects and it opened fine. So I went to open the new project that I had just started and it gave me the same message 'could not open the project you chose'. So at this point I am confused, I go to open the old project that I just viewed and now it gave me the message 'could not open the project you chose'. Then I go to the files under Movies. I see that the projects all have their 3 files (Project file, Media, and .mov). I then double click on the .mov files and QuickTime opens and plays them fine. So I go into the Media folder and drag media files to QuickTime and it opens and plays fine. Then I drag the project files to iMovie and I get the message 'could not open the project you chose'.
I then open iMovie by starting a new project, because one by one my old movie projects have gone from working to not working. I build a new project and save it after a few clips. I close iMovie and then open it and wow it opens with the new project I just built. Now I am confused, I add a few new clips then close iMovie. I reopen iMovie and get the message 'could not open the project you chose'.
So over several hours and several new projects iMovie has failed to make a project that will open, and it has opened and then destroyed my old projects. Again I can dump the .mov file or the individual clips into QuickTime and they play fine.
    I am using QuickTime 7.04
    iMovie 3.0.3
And I am not sure if this is the version that I built the old movies in (remember they played some in 3.0.3 for awhile then broke???)
And now I have even a bigger problem, I deleted iMovie 3.0.3 to reinstall it from my Panther disk I have and I cannot find a way to install iMovie from my disk. So now I have several broken movies that have always worked fine in the past. And I cannot make any new ones because I now have no iMovie.
I am not an expert at this stuff, but over the last 7 years I have made about 80 10 to 20 min. videos and never had a problem until this HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
    Can anyone help?

You seem to have a lot of different problems on your hand.
First of all, don't you have the original tapes? (You should keep them, you know.)
Second, don't you have any backups? Have you ever thought of fire, theft, flooding, hurricanes, ligthning, tornadoes. Or even "mundane" things as a crashed hard drive? You should have at least one full, verfied backup off site.
Anyway, how is your hard drive formatted? (It must be Mac OS Extended)
    http://danslagle.dvmix.com/mac/iMovie/usage/5006.shtml
iMovie 3 is so full of bugs, it's amazing you managed to use it for so many years. See if you can get your hands on an iLife '04 package.
iMovie was never part of the Panther discs. It may have been part of your (usually gray) software restore discs you got with your Mac.
Hope this help to at least get you started recovering.
    Post back with your findings.

  • Pages on my Mac will not open...

when opening the open file comes up but a small window with a blue scrolling bar comes up and I cannot open, close, or do anything at all.  A force quit and reboot, or cutting the net hasn't helped either.

    Hey swpinsent,
There's an article that can help you troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing with Pages.

Below is the section for a software issue that occurs in one application only:
For example, one application does not open or unexpectedly quits. Mac OS X v10.4 and later can help with applications that unexpectedly quit by offering to open the application with default settings. If this doesn't help, skip to "Drag the application to the Trash and reinstall it if the issue persists..." below.
Make sure you are using the latest version of the software. Check with the manufacturer if the product is published by a third party.
If the issue only occurs while using a specific document, try creating a new document or replacing your document with a backup. Your document may be damaged. If possible, try testing with either a new file or a known-good file.
Drag the application to the Trash and reinstall it if the issue persists. Some Apple applications that may have been included with your computer can be reinstalled by using the Install, Restore, or iLife disc that came with the computer. See these links for more information:
Mac OS X v10.6 Help: Reinstalling applications that came with your computer
Mac OS X v10.5.5 and later: Installing optional and bundled software

    Hope that helps,

  • Some applications are not opening

    Hi,
Many of my applications are not opening. Sometimes when I try to open the application it doesn't even bounce in the dock.  Other times, applications will bounce in the dock and then stop.  These are crucial apps, like Mail, Pages, and iPhoto.  Safari and iTunes are working fine.
Here is some information on my mac:
I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro, 2.5 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 250 GB HDD, and 4 GM DDR2 Crucial RAM. I am running the latest versions of Snow Leopard, iWork, and iLife. So my computer is up to date (software wise).
Does anyone know what could be going on with my computer?
I have already tried repairing the disk and repairing the disk permissions in disk utility through the OS as well as the install disc.  Is there anything else I should try doing before taking my computer into the Apple store?
    Thanks,
    Max

    That didn't work =/
I'm still having the same issues even with a new account.

  • Imovie lost music program will not open

I was making a movie and when I went to add music from the tool bar on the right side i could not open the application under the little note I tried to find the application on the hard drive could not.
I had this computer from 2 year and never had a problem with Imovie. Should I update to ILife 09 is it better than Ilife 08. Also something else is funny I can not access the tutorials on all of the Ilife programs,

I fixed the problem myself. What I did was go into Imovies folder that I had already made a movie and click on one of them and all of the programs came back. The music program and the camera program I don't know what I did to lose the programs. I seem very simple when you know the right place to go. I spent hours looking all around the computer in Finder, spotlight, internet help and when I found the answer it was just one simple click and I was back to normal. I just goes to show if look around long enough the answer is there with a mac. I was in error on the other subject I just didn't click in the right place.
