Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This is what fixed that same problem for me: download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Do you Twango?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iTunes in Mac OS X Tiger is outdated. Open  > Software Update to install the latest iTunes version for Tiger.
If you need iTunes 10.7 or a newer version, you have to upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. First, check that your Mac is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 If it is, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After buying Snow Leopard, make a backup of your data, insert the DVD and upgrade to Snow Leopard. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install the latest Snow Leopard version. Finally, run Software Update again to install iTunes 11.0.4. If you want to install iTunes 10.7 instead, download it from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1576

  • I downloaded ilife and iphoto is not existing...

I downloaded ilife and iphoto is not existing...do anyone knows this problem?

So, you pirated the software, which is stealing. Then you have the brass neck to come looking for help from people who are not thieves because you can't actually steal very well. And to crown it all, you come to a site hosted by the people you are stealing from.
You don't get help with stolen property here.
Also, you have to be an extraordinary idiot to install pirated software on your Mac. You have no idea what you have put on there, how it has been hacked or manipulated.
So, a thief and an idiot too.

    Make a back up now.
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
Then go on to Option 2

  • I just got the mid 2011 macbook air and it does not have ilife or iPhoto on it...isnt it supposed to come with it? and if it does then how do i get it on the mac without having to pay for it in the app store?

I just got a macbook air and i thought that it was supposed to come with ilife already installed? But there is not ilife apps...how do i get  it on the laptop without having to buy them all from the app store if it was supposed to come with it?

    From the iPhoto Licence:
    3. Transfer.
    A. Apple Software obtained from the Mac App Store is not transferable. If you sell your Apple-branded hardware to a third party, you must remove the Apple Software from the Apple-branded hardware before doing so.
    B. For any preinstalled Apple Software, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software (in its original form as provided by Apple) to another party, provided that: the Apple Software is transferred together with your Apple-branded hardware; (ii) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, printed materials and this License; (iii) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; (iv) you have not associated the Apple Software with your Mac App Store account as set forth in Section 2B; and (v) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License.
If the previous owner accepted the preinstalled software (iPhoto, etc) to the AppleID, it cannot be passed on to a new owner. Even if the previous owed would use her or his Applied to install it for you, you would never be able to reinstall it or to update it.
In that case buy your own copies of the software.

  • Ilife 11, iPhoto uploads in the wrong place, can anybody help?

    Hi out there.
I have just installed iLife 11, I have been using iPhoto for years and love it BUT now, have taken some photos and uploaded them, so far so good. When I came to look at them they were NOT where they should be, the Project was way up in the first year I had started using iPhoto. I checked dates on the upload, and they are correct, so why are they not at the bottom of the page.
    Can anyone help me please?

  • Upgrading to iLife '06 - iPhoto will not load

I have had no problems with iLife '05. Recently purchased iLife '06 and after loading have tried to open iPhoto and am unable. Asks to upgrade and when I try get "There is a problem accessing one of more of your files" When I go to iPhoto library folder, Get info, and make both owner and group read&write and then apply to enclosed items, I get a "operation can't be completed because you don't have sufficient privileges on some of the items."
The computer is set up in my name and I have set all of the privileges on it, so I am not sure why when I "apply to all enclosed items," I am unable to move beyond. With this problem, I am unable to open up iPhoto at all. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Biff,
What happened is likely a permissions issue that occurs during upgrade.
Check out this thread which should answer your questions, but will require use of Batchmod:

  • I Have solution to iLife 11 iPhoto FAIL!

I found this solution on another board:
    1. There`s an iPhoto Library file in /Users/~/Pictures . Copy it to another location.
    2. Use iLife disk to reinstall iPhoto.
    3. Put the iPhoto Library file back in the Pictures folder and click on it.
    That`s it.
I did that exactly, & reinstalled iPhoto only.  (Dragged Lib fle to desktop)
When install completed, I clicked (still dmgd looking) iPhoto Icon & I was prompted to go to software update.  Turne out there were 2 updats, bringing me to iPhoto '11 v9.1.5!!!  THATS IT!!!  All my pics are still there!

It's also important to remember to trash the receipts when reinstalling
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.
On my First attempt to fix I did try your suggestion #2b as im running 10.6....  in goto folder nothing was found! I searched, but nothing!!

  • Newly installed ilife 6 - iphoto not recognized

    Hello all,
I was having problems with my iphoto 4 not uploading my pictures so decided to upgrade my ilife software to 6. Everything installed fine except for iPhoto, I click the icon to open and nothing happens and now the icon changed to the paper / letter A icon. I looked at the system requirements and I believe I'm okay. Anyone have any ideas or solutions for me?
    Much appreciated!

This looks like a faulty install.
Drag the iPhoto application from your Applications Folder to the trash
then go to HD/Library/Receipts and delete any pkg file with iPhoto in the name.
Then re-install iPhoto - you can do a custom install, you don't have to re-install all the other parts of iLife.
    Don't forget to repair permissions.

  • ILife Apps - iPhoto missing after Hard drive wipe.

I have a MacBook Pro Spring 2010. When I bought it, I had all of the iLife apps preinstalled. When OS X Mavericks came out, I upgraded. I ran out of space, so I wiped the hard drive after backing up my important files to a hardrive. To get my iLife apps back, I used the CD, i got them all back except iPhoto. How do I get iPhoto back?

Run the software update to upgrade to  the latest compatible version for Mavericks.
    Apple Menu()>Software Update>iPhoto
It keeps old and new versions in your App folder.  So drag the new icon down to the Dock if need be.

  • Help -- installed iLife and iPhoto suddenly inaccessible!!

    help, help!
I installed the new iLife and immediately my iPhoto is bunk. when i open the application it says "loading photos" with a little circle going round and round. and round and round. for hours if i let it. nothing else happens. can't import, can't see my library, bonzos.
I tried REinstalling iLife, and that didn't work.
    any suggestions? what happenned?
    thank you,
    Olivia

    Olivia,
don't worry, you are not alone. there are a lot of people here that can help you.
I just want to be clear on a couple of points.
-What version of iPhoto did you have before and was the library working good before you installed iLife 5?
-You installed iLife 5 from the DVD
-you tried installing iLife again from the DVD
-Are all your iLife apps loose in the Applications folder?
-You would have known if you had Keyword Assistant because you have to download it and install it yourself.
-no need to register to make it work
-I will give you one thing to try first, it's always the first thing to do when encountering problems with an application. Drag the iPhoto Preference file to the desktop, or delete it.
    Preference file
Launch iPhoto and see if it loads.
    - You can also hold down the Option key when launching iPhoto and choose to open your library. Navigate to where your library is and choose it.
When you launch iPhoto holding down the Option key this is the window you will get.
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library if that is what you want to do, or choose a library to open by clicking the "choose" button.
If you click the "create library" iPhoto will open with a brand new library for you to import images to. If you click "choose" then you will get this window.
    Open library
Navigate to where the library is on your computer and then choose it.
-If that doesn't work, you can launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys. This will force a rebuild (if you can even get it going I don't know) Choose the first 3 options first and do the rebuild (if you even get that far) If that doesn't work, choose all the options. If that doesn't work, check out this page and see if there is anything else you haven't tried.

  • Reinstallation of iLife (specifically iPhoto) after HD wipe.

I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro which came with the complete iLife suite (as all Macs do.) Since I was already upgrading to snow leopard I decided to wipe my hard drive clean. I backed up everything important beforehand (like pictures, home movies etc) but forgot to backup the iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and iWeb apps.
Is there any way of asking the vendor I bought the computer from to give me another copy of iLife or will I be forced to go back to the time machine copy of the computer and drag and drop the apps from there (and if so, is that even possible/legal)?

If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’

  • All dock icons for iLife '11 (iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD, GB) are lo-res

I just installed iLife '11, and the first problem I noticed was that all the hi-res icons that are normally in the Dock are displaying their lo-res counterparts. This does not bode well for the iLife '11 package in general, since 2 seconds after installing the suite I notice a glaring problem. I guess Apple felt the need to rush iLife '11 out the door, ignoring even the basic quality control checks.
    Very disappointing.

I fixed my problem by rebuilding the Launch Services database and restarting Finder. I also had to delete the lo-res icons from the dock and grab new ones from the Applications folder.
