Ilife Support 9.0.4

Software update recently popped up with " ilife Support 9.0.4" It says, "The update is recommended for all users of ilife '09, iwork '09, and Aperture. Do I need to install this update? I think I have 08 stuff. I bought my MB late 07 installed iwork 08, and never updated. Thank you

After installing iLife Support 9.0.4 today all of my function control keys stops working (screen brigthness, volume, keyboard brightness) on my MBP. I have OSX 10.5.8
Not even sure if CD Eject button is working. If I can't find any resolution, the only CD I would insert on my drive is the OSX installation disc just incase eject function does not work too.

I'm setting up an 800MHz PowerBook with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and iLife 06 (iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes). Software Update keeps telling me I need to install "iLife Support 8.3", which is described as:
+iLife Support provides system software components shared by all iLife '08 applications. This update improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues. It is recommended for all users for iLife '08.+
It says nothing about iLife 06. Does anyone know why Software Update is insisting I install this? Is it really needed for iLife 06?

Loss of Network after iLife Support 9.0.4 Sofware Update

I just updated my System Software with the 9.0.4 iLife Support and 3.0 Digital Camera Raw Compatability Update. Now I have lost access to my wireless network as it will not recognize my password (returning invalid password). I ran disk repair for permissions but to no success. In addition I have found the following other issues:
1. My Keychain is saying that access to any of my saved passwords is restricted.
2. I have two Firewall requests coming from cups-lpd and krb5kdc every time I log in.
3. Date has been reset to 1 January 2001.

I just dragged all of the 1 January 2001 Prefs out of my folder and restarted and it looks like its working, including the keychain. I'll keep monitoring this...

ILife Support Could not be Installed Error -3001

Hello,
I am trying to install the iLife Support Update. But it always shows me this Error Cannot Install -3001.
All Other Updates Work perfectly please help!

I SOLVED IT
Take Following Steps
Make A new Admin Account
Log in to the new admin account
intall the updates trough the internal system
log out
delete that account
THE UPDATES ARE INSTALLED

ILife Support 8.1.1 killed iPhoto

Since I installed iLife Support 8.1.1, iPhoto won't launch successfully.
iPhoto will start up for about 3 seconds, then crash out. I rebuilt permissions, no luck. I re-installed iPhoto (7, then 7.1, then 7.1.1), no luck.
iPhoto does work for another (basic) user on this system. But for the account I use, iPhoto won't start. Ideas?

The Pref. Pane was gone, so I re-installed, then un-installed the application.
iPhoto still crashes, just as before.

ILife Support 9.0.2

I know when iLife Support 9.0.1 came out, my MBP pulled it in via software update (even thought I don't have iLife 09 except the latest iTunes). I see that iLife Support 9.0.2 came out, but SU doesn't wan't it yet. Since version 901 was needed, I wonder why 902 isn't.

Even odder than this. I installed ilife support 9.0.3 successfully. Then, I decided to upgrade to ilife 09 from 08. After installing ilife 09 and running software update, SU pulled in the ilife 9.0.3 update again and installed it. Installing ilife 09 must have made it think it needed again. Software update now shows it installes successfully twice.

ILife Support 9.0.4 Update for iLife 08 ~ use Updater version or download?

I have iLife 08.
In Apple Support Downloads (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1009) this update is recommended for all users of iLife ’09, iWork ’09, and Aperture. File Size: 67.13 MB.
In my Software Update panel the iLife Support 9.0.4 download is 2.3 MB.
I gather the discrepancy in File Size is because only a teeny bit of the update from 67.13 MB download is for iLife 08.
Question:
I prefer to install updates from downloads rather than from auto-Updater, will the 67.13 MB File know to install just 2.3MB of its load or should I use the Updater for this one?

Use the Updater. It's tailored for your set up.

After installing iLife Support 9.0.4 - network login becomes locked

I'm experiencing a strange issue after installing iLife Support 9.0.4
I am on a corporate network using Active Directory. I use Connect to Server every day to access all my files for work.
Here is my scenario:
1. Startup OR Restart my MacBook
2. Login to my user account
3. Finder -> Connect to Server (i.e. smb://server/location/etc/)
4. My network credentials are saved in my keychain, so it tries to connect
5. My network account becomes locked.
After #5 I have to call our Help Desk to unlock my network account.
Once my account is unlocked, everything works fine - I can use Connect to Server, Entourage email, etc.
Unfortunately I am unable to use Time Machine due to our company policies
Any insight would be appreciated.

I just dragged all of the 1 January 2001 Prefs out of my folder and restarted and it looks like its working, including the keychain. I'll keep monitoring this...

ILife Support 8.2?

Hi all,
I couldn't think of anywhere else to post this...I didn't see an general iLife forum or a general updates forum, so I stuck it here (perhaps it can be moved if there's a better place for it?).
Anywho, Software Update keeps bugging me to download iLife Support 8.2. From what I've read, this applies only to iLife '08 apps. I don't have any iLife '08 apps on my computer, or Aperture for that matter (I do have iLife '04 apps). Why does Software Update think I need this? Do I really need it anyway, having no iLife '08 apps? If I don't, is there a way to remove it from the available updates list?

No, you don't need to install it, although doing so should do no harm. In the Updates menu of Software Update you can select the option to Ignore that item (select it first) and you will not be bothered with it again.

ILife Support 8.1.1

During update the iPhoto 7.1 info page said this

I can find 8.2, 8.3 and 8.3.1 but can not find iLifeSupport8.1.1 anywhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Folks, I have had some success in fixing this problem.
I followed the following instructions that I found in an old post on another forum, dated in 2007 but gave it a try. Since doing it, Garageband is loading in the usual 20-30 secs again.
1. Create a folder on your desktop called "OLD FONTS"
2. go to the /Users/*/Library/Fonts folder, where "*" is the user that is having the problem loading GB.
3. Move all of the fonts from this folder to the new folder you created in the first step. These are not system fonts, so it is okay to do this.
4. Try to load GB. Thank God and do a happy dance!
5. Put back fonts one letter of the alphabet at a time to find the offending font.
I haven't found the offending Font yet, but wanted to share this info as soon as possible.

What is the maximum iLife supported on my ibook g4

Im new to mac so bare with me , i bought a preowned ibook g4 with Os 10.5.8 its the late 2004 model so i assumed iLife 04 was the only compatable iLife but i have iWeb which i read was only introduced after the iLife 05 os i dont know what do , can anyone help? i need to know what the maximum iLife i can install

After iLife 09 an intel Mac is required.
Note that different features of iLife have
different requirements such as DVD burner,
1GB RAM, G5 processor, ect.
If you want features available in later iLifes
make sure they work with your system.
I believe your G4 can be upgraded to 1.25 GB
of RAM. You might consider this.
Also, leave 15% available HD space. Your Mac
will run smoother. Also, remember to verify disc
and repair permissions using disc utility before and
after downloads and installs.
