Illegal host/domain name found - emails bouncing;

After using PhotoStream to post a picture on Facebook, my email asked me to confirm a password, which I've never had to do before. Now I can't send or receive email on the MacBook me.com account b/c an "illegal host/domain" message returns with the email. I don't know if I should be using the iCloud or my previous incoming mail server as the main server. Something changed after the PhotoStream attempt to connect the devices (iPhone and MacBook).
Anyone have any ideas? I read other posts, but didn't see the resolution.

I can now get emails to go OUT from my MacBook, but I can't receive them. Can get them just fine on the iPhone -- confusing!

It's a really bad idea to post email addresses - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.

I'm not an expert on DNS, what cause this error? This domain with the account is valid.

TS4002 Reason: Illegal host/domain name found

Today I suddenly started get this error after using and sending to the same people for months: Reason: Illegal host/domain name found

I just had that. The domain name had expired.
look up the domain name here b) http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx
and here a) http://www.domaintools.com
to see if a) the domain name is current and live
and b) it is set up right.

I am seeing errors like:Status: 5.4.4 (Illegal host/domain name found). Almost all destinations have no A records, only MX records. The user can usually resend the message and it works. Any ideas?

I do have MX in tcp_local in imta.cnf

The problem is not in the mail software, the problem is in your DNS system. 554 is a permenant failure which means that the MTA got an authoritative response from DNS reporting that the host/domain did not exist.
When the user tries again, the MTA queries again, and this time DNS responds with a positive response.
First see the NMS tuning guide and enable nscd, it might be related, not sure, can't hurt, will improve performance.
Your DNS server should be waiting until it gets a positive/negative response from the root servers. Sounds like that is not happening, maybe a timeout kicking in and causing it to return a authoritative answer (which is incorrect) and then on a subsequent query the response made it and thus the lookup works.

When I sen a e-mail from my me.com or mac.com accounts it bounces back to me with a header made of of a stiring of numbers and letters and a @me.com or @mac.com at the end... and 'illegal host domain found'... Have you setup/changed to iCloud for eMail yet?

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to http://appleid.apple.com then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

Can anyone recommend a reliable domain name and email hosint package?

I've been using Crazy Domains to store all my clients domain names and have also used them for their email hosting, but they are quite simply the most frustrating company to deal with. I'm looking to move all my domain names and email hosting to another company and would like advice and suggestions of where to go. Any help gratefully received.

I do receive emails into my iMac for which I have 3 email accounts but am struggling on how synchronise between iMac and iPad so that both are up to date at all times. I have also set up a iCloud email account thinking this was the way to go but have drawn a blank.

I have set up my email address both within my iMac and my ISP as IMAP accounts and I receive all emails without problem on my iMac. I have also set up an iCloud email address using my iMac.
I have enabled the email within "setting" on my iPad and have used the iCloud account. I have sent emails from the iMac to iPad using the iCloud account address and vice versa. I have also sent emails from the iPad to the iMac using my non-iCloud email address and they have gotten through.
The one thing I would like to have is for the iPad "mail" mailboxes to mimic the iMac "mail" mailboxes and both to be "in sync". I am not really interested in using the iCloud email address for my email but would really like to use my "normal" addresses as these are what most people know me by.
Do I need to set additional accounts within the iPad which are the same as the email accounts I have within the iMac and my ISP? I have reached the end of my knowledge as regards email synchronsing.

Business catalyst transfer hosting / domain name issues

Hopefully someone can help with this. There is no information to be found anywhere about this anywhere. So here goes..
-Basically I have a an old site using my .com hosted away from CC. I also have a newer version of my website hosted at CC and using the same .com BUT using the 'Business catalyst" tag"
-I now want to shut down my old site hosted away from CC-to free up the .com so I can use me new website WITHOUT having to use the Business catalyst tag (While remain being hosted on CC)
This is what my other host has asked me to get - (and that Adobe has no information on)
My old host:
"In order to transfer the domain name to your new provider (CC) you need to organise the following:
.co.uk domain - In order to transfer the .co.uk domain name,
we need to be given the new 'Nominet Tag' for your new provider (CC). We can then switch the tag at our end and your new provider (CC) can gain access to the domain name.
.com domain - In order to transfer the .com domain name, your new provider (CC) will need to request a transfer of the .com domain from their end. We have unlocked the domain so this can be requested. Once they have done this, we will be able to provide an authorisation code that will enable them to complete the transfer."
Please help. This is very confusing..

If planning on reusing a domain for another site...
First you need to remove the domain from our old site/host. Once you have done this you can then add your domain to whichever site you require. Then set up your DNS accordingly whether you want to host with BC or externally.

Domain name in Email ID?

In my_form i have couple of email ID populating fields, i placed the adobe's email object text feilds, hence am getting a validation error popup, if user do not put either @ or a period, fine
But, as this is used with in company and user always specifies company employee's official ID, hence i want to put a validation for DOMAIN NAME.
The company's domain names looks like "domain1" or "domain2", email IDs looks like [email protected] or [email protected]
User is SUPPOSE to enter ONLY either domain1 or domain2, if not, i need to alert!! (not like gmail, Yahooh email ID)
1) Pls. let me know, is there in built feature (like Validation Pattern)?
2) Any ready-made function? if so, pls. code snippet
3) If not, pls. provide code snippet

Validation Pattern should work. Something like this: text{O'@domain1.com'}|text{O'@domain2.com'}
You can also use regular expression.

Domain name in email header

Please forgive me for this very basic query. I hopeless and I cannot find the answer in previous posts, probably because I'm searching for the wrong words, but can anyone help?:
Recently, I changed my domain name from ADomain.co.uk to BDomain.co.uk. All seems well but look at the attached header. There is still a reference to ADomain.co.uk! So, what have I done wrong? I've been searching around the server options and configuration files but I just can't find out where I have set this?

Your Mailsserver still thinks its name is simon.ADomain.co.uk.
This may be due to the system wide hostname ( see +man hostname+ ) or the myhostname setting in
postfix's main.cf.
Check for the first with the hostname command.
Check for the second using +postconf -n | grep ADomain+

Host+Domain Name+Shopping Cart Package

Ok so I am going to create a small business website with not a lot of traffic. I am banking on iWeb 2 to release in January with HTML support so adding features like a shopping cart will be easier...but until then I have some questions.
Ok lets say my site is completed with about 10-15 pages.
I want to host other than .Mac...
-I decide to host with godaddy.com or something else
-Now I want my own domain name with total masking. I don't want to see any .Mac or iweb stuff in the site domain. So I is that easy with godaddy?
Now the BIG question...
I want to sell several products on my site...assuming I now have iWeb 2 and it has HTML support, this shouldn't be that hard.
-Do I get the cart for $27 a month with Go Daddy or another host? Will that give me a totally incorporated cart bult into my website? Will is just give me HTML code to paste into iWeb?
-I would prefer an incorporated shopping cart compared to paypals free, external shopping cart.
Also, I would need a merchant account with godaddy, and who would work as the gateway for credit card payments?
Basically, once i have my site made, assuming iWeb 2 has HTML support, I just want to have a shoppig cart package that allows me to paste their HTML into iWeb and get a shopping cart that is totally internal to my site. I also want the merchant account and the whole gateway package to accept credit cards.
Any suggestions on the steps I should take on deciding the best host, domain masking feature, and shopping cart path I want???

Ok, It looks like GoDaddy and Verio both offer shopping cart features, but they are external...meaning you use their online software to create basically your own "Online Store". So I would link my iWeb site to this store...but they would look tottally different. Some thing with Verio.com

How to I get my host email at GoDaddy to work after I've changed the name servers to redirect my domain name that I purchased to my Business Catalyst Site?

I use a mac and I just recently changed my name servers with my purchased domain name at godaddy.com. As a result, I am no longer able to receive emails in my domain name's email address as I have to change some info with Adobe according to godaddy. They have sent me an email with all the info that needs to be changed and I was wondering if someone can walk me through it. Thanks! :-)

If you have Free sites with creative cloud, then these sites do not allow you to host your email with BC. You can either upgrade your website to higher site plan, or chose one of the alternative email host, given in the following link

Question about Mail app and domain name please help

I wasn't sure where to post this question so figured this would be the best area. I have a website which uses bluehost as it's web hoster. My email is set up through them, such as [email protected]
In my Mail app, I have the POP thing set up so when ever someone emails me it goes right to the Mail app. It works great for my personal computer, but when I go to work and go on other computers is where the problem is.
When I am on a random computer at work, I have to sign onto my webhosting site and then use squirrel mail. It is quite a hastle and is not the best. I would love to use gmail, but still keep my domain name I have.
One co-worker mentioned just forwarding all my [email protected] emails to my new gmail email. There are issue's with doing this because if I'm at work and email someone with gmail it will use that email address. Also, I want to be able to read all my sent messages from any computer including the sent messages that were within my Mail app. Is this possible?
Besides forwarding is there a better solution? It is sort of hard to explain. Basically I want my [email protected] address to be run through gmail, be able to access on any computer, have it be the only address in my mail app, and most importantly have the sent messages from mail app to be able to be read on all computers.
I think gmail lets you make a domain name email, without gmail being included at the end. But I already have the email address made...am I able to just swap it? And keep all my mail inbox info?
What's the best sollution for my problem?

You would need to login to your web mail account to reply so that the email came from "[email protected]"
I try to get a gmail address that is close to the domain name like - [email protected] - so that I don't have to bother opening web mail as it is a pain.
I forward to Gmail and then Mac Mail because their spam blocker is the best.
A lot of web mail addresses bounce mail because the capacity is limited and the owners don't go into their control panel to launch their web mail and clear out the old stuff. Lawyers, in particular, are famous for this. For this reason I don't set web mail to keep a copy of the forwarded mail. If my web mail gets full of spam and they start bouncing then its not my problem!
