Illegal to run one copy on two computers?

I'm sure the answer is no, but is it illegal to run Illustrator CS3 on my iMac and my MacBook (for portability) at the same time?
I haven't tried, I was just wondering.

As I understand it, you can't do that
at the same time. That is, you can't be using AI on your desktop while letting someone else use it on your laptop.
But the situation you describe, excluding the phrase "at the same time", is otherwise the particular situation that
is allowed. You can install the software on your desktop and on your laptop so as to allow you the practicality of using it when you are in the office, and when you are travelling. But you are not supposed to use it on both machines at the same time.
Read the user agreement.
The whole thing is minutia-stupid, of course. It is my habit to goof around with AI on my laptop on Saturday mornings, usually while perusing this forum. I often leave my laptop on when later in the morning, I go out to the studio, where I launch it on my desktop. So technically, I'm not really
using it on two machines at one time (my arms aren't that long), but I do have it launched and running (uh, given Illustrator's performance, you might more accurately call that moseying) on both machines.

  • Permissible to install one copy on two computers?

I have Appleworks on my mini and now would like to install from the same cd on my MBA. I know the license states it can't exist on more than one machine, but since it's no longer sold by Apple, & hasn't been in years… I'm wondering about the legalities of doing so?

No, the Apple software license states the software can only exist on one computer at a time.

  • Can CS 5 Creative Suite run on more than two computers?

I have CS 5 Creative Suite that I run on my desktop and laptop. I know I can uninstall from one of them and install the suite on another. Ultimately I want Photoshop CS5 to run on three computers because my daughter is old enough now to help with editing.  What are my options? Is there a license I have to buy to run the whole suite on a 3rd computer? Would it be cheaper to buy Photoshop CS5 just for her laptop?
    Thanks,
    Art

There is no option to simply add a third computer to a standard CS retail license.
Your license is really a license for one person with two computers that are used by a single person and not simultaneously. Even if you had only one computer, you would be violating the EULA (End User License Agreement) by installing it on your daughters computer and letting her run that software.
In your specific case, it would probably be best to get your daughter a copy of Photoshop by itself. And you might want to investigate if your daughter might qualify for a highly-discounted student or educational version of Photoshop if she qualifies as a student (see Adobe's website for further information).
Also, CS5 is not current. You can only buy the CS5.5 Creative Suite products now from Adobe.

  • Hi all - is it really possible to use one license for two computers or is it just a rumor?

I heard that it would be possible that you can use one license for two computers. Is that the truth? And if so - how does it work?
    Thanks
    K

Adobe CC or any perpetual previous version allows you to install & activate it two times (on the same computer or other different one).
As per End user license agreement, only one computer can be used at one given time.

    Hope it helps you.

  • How to use ONE IPod on TWO Computers

I have an Desktop-PC using ITunes 5.0 and an IPod 20 GB. When I connect my IPod with my Laptop, the complete IPod is deleting by the ITunes on the Laptop. How can I use ONE IPod on TWO Computers without deleting the music hole time?!

I think you need to manually update on at least the computer that has the smaller music selection.
it may be best to turn off automatic updates on both machines and manually add and delete songs.
or you could network both computers to share one music library

  • Is there any way to work on one Catalog from two computers simultaenously?

Is there any way to work on one Catalog from two computers simultaenously?
I have a catalog with 7000 images we have to process / crop / etc. and I was trying to find a way that two of us could work on the images at the same time.
    Thanks!

No, the LR catalog is not multi user capable (and cannot reside on a network share without tricks). What you could do is
export part of the catalog (a subset of all images) into a separate catalog ("Export as Catalog", without exporting the negatives)
work on different images in the two catalogs at the same time
re-import ("Import from Catalog") the exported work after adjustments on it is finished

    Hi PerGronroos,
You  can run InDesign or any Adobe products from the Creative Cloud as long as they are running under two different Adobe ID.

  • License Sharing -  Non-concurrently  - One License on Two Computers

    Here's my situation..
I do some contracting work for an office on Capitol Hill. I have to work onsite due to security protocols, and because this office has limited resources, they have only been able to purchase two Adobe Web suites.
They installed them on two computers that are used by staffers.
The problem is that I have to schedule my time around whenever one of their staffers is not at their computer, so I could use their Dreamweaver and do the coding that they need done for them.
    My question is this...
They have available intern computers that are not as used as frequently. Does Adobe licensing permit non-current use on their computers? That is, could I install a copy and use it on one of these computers without violating licensing agreements, so long as one of the staffers is not using the software when I am?
    Thank you in advance.

copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) to a portable HD such as this.
voila, you have created a truly mobile library that can be used with anycomputer !
on either machine, launch iTunes while holding shift, click on choose library when prompted, and select the iTunes folder on the external HD.

  • Merging mail from one account on two computers

I have mail up until December 2007 on my Mac Mini and mail from December 1 to present on my Powerbook. I want to get all my mail until now onto just one computer.
Can anyone tell me the best way to do this?
    Thanks in advance
    MK

See Mail | Help and in the search box, type "importing email into Mail"
Mail Help doesn't say so, but I would be sure to make a copy of your /Users/mk/Library/Mail before starting, just in case something terrible were to happen. Single-click on that folder then control-click on it and select "Make Archive".
Find a firewire cable and connect the two computers together via firewire. On the one from which you want to import mail, reboot it while holding down the "T" key -- let up once you see the big firewire symbol on a blue screen. An icon of that computer should now show up on the desktop of the computer to which you want to import its mail. Then follow the instructions in Mail Help.
I don't know if "import Mail" creates new mail folders or not when you do this. But whatever, if it does, once the messages have been imported, you can drag them to whatever mailbox is appropriate then delete the newly created imported mail folders once they are empty.
If something goes terribly wrong (like the import operation overwrites your existing messages or something ugly like that), just drag the /Users/mk/Library/Mail folder to the Trash and doubleclick on the /Users/mk/Library/Archive.zip that was created when you made the archive of your Mail folder three paragraphs ago. Then you'll be back to where you started.

  • Using one account on two computers

Howdy! I have itunes on my PC Tower. I just bought a MacBook Pro and wanted to buy a song, but "it said no" .... I have to create an account first. My ID/Password did not work. Can I just have one ID for both computers?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   2.0 gig ram

You may need to 'authorize' your new computer under the Store menu from w/in iTunes. Keep in mind that your iPod (if you use one) will only sync with one computer--not both. Also, the songs you buy on one computer will not automatically show up on the other--you will need to transfer them yourself (burn a CD, copy files, etc.)

  • One mac account, two computers

I have one mac account and two computers. When I get up in the morning, I check my email. When I come to the office I recheck my email.
With my pop account through my ISP, my mail downloads at both places.
With my mac account, once I view it at home, I cannot see it at the office. Is there a way to resolve this issue.
    What am I doing wrong?
    SJ

it's IMAP. then it really should show the same messages on both computers. you can try rebuilding the mobileme inbox (mailbox menu->rebuild). but mobileme is a weird animal and is handled separately from all other accounts in Mail. I don't use mobileme so can't comment further on this, sorry. maybe somebody else who does can chime in or you could try the mobileme forum.

  • What is the best way to manage one library on two computers?

My wife and I recently bought Macbook's, switching from our previous Dell desktop. Now that we have two computers we want a way for both of us to be able to access our iTunes library from our respective computers and add music to our iPods. When I add our music into my Library and set my library to share this only seems to allow her to play the songs on her Macbook but not add them to her iPod. Adding our music to her own library raises the problem of new albums I download not appearing in her library unless she manually adds them. I would like a way we can keep all of our music in one folder (on our Time Capsule) but both be able to download music, have it show up on the other persons library, and add songs to our iPods from our own computers.

When I add our music into my Library and set my library to share this only seems to allow her to play the songs on her Macbook but not add them to her iPod.
Correct. You cannot sync an iPod to a playlist provided by iTunes Sharing. The track must be on the computer to which the iPod is being synchronized.
I would like a way we can keep all of our music in one folder (on our Time Capsule) but both be able to download music, have it show up on the other persons library, and add songs to our iPods from our own computers.
iTunes doesn't have any built-in folder watching capability, so without third-party software help, content added from one computer has to be manually added to iTunes on the other computer. Hazel says it can be set up to add content to iTunes automatically, but I haven't tried it myself.
Alternatively, you can each have your own iTunes library on your own computers and use one of the several third-party utilities to keep the libraries in sync. If that's of interest, post back and I can provide links to the utilities I know of.

  • One account using two computers

I know there have been a few posts about this. But I can't seem to find a straight answer. Keeps talking about a PC and a Mac.
I have two macs, one at work and one at home.
    1. When I come home, I want to work on my home computer. Do I have to make sure all the programs are closed on my work computer, to use Creative Cloud at home?
    2. Im thinking about getting a new computer in a few months, can I easily then deactive my old computer and install the cloud on my new machine?

    Question # 1 answer:
You do not have to make sure the programs are closed on the work computer. The license agreement is that you will not use the software on two computers at the same time.
    Question # 2 answer:
As Amit has answered above. You have two activations. When you try to activate on a third computer you will be asked about deactivating on the others.

  • PSE 10 one program for two computers

Hello; my question is, it possible to use my PSE 10 that is installed on my PC and use it on my laptop via a home network ? downloading the program onto my PC is not an option. I once had it installed I had to replace my drive thus using the two allowed installs by adobe. I contacted adobe about another licence, they were not much help, they only wanted to sell me another program. thanks for any info on this matter. Paolo

You can certainly install PSE on two computers. If you have used both your activations and you no longer have one of the computers to deactivate it so you can reinstall on a new one, you will need to contact activation support:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/activation/
You can often start a chat session right in that window and get things resolved right away.
