Illustrator 10 printing issue

I have a client thatinstalled Illustrator 10 a while back with no problems. Then she installed CS2 with still no problems. I installed CS3 at her request and it seemed fine at first. She now says that when she boots up and just uses Illustrator 10 and tries to print it works. Only after she opens CS3 and tries to go back and print out of Illustrator 10 she get an error saying that it cannot print. CS3 prints fine all the time. Illustrator 10 won't print until she reboots and does not open CS3. I've uninstalled CS2. It just seems like CS3 is taking over the print capability and wont relinquish it even after closing the program. She says she's got to have both. Do these two not play together well? Anybody ever seen this and know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Try move the adobe settings folder and or remove the default printer fro the printer list and the add it back. Remove it from the printer list and uninstall the deriver and reinstall. But first check for the latest version of the driver but save the older version just in case.

  • 64-bit Illustrator CS6 Print Issue

I'm having a major lag issue when printing directly from 64-bit Illustrator on Windows 7. When I try to print, the program locks up for 30 seconds before sending the print job. Not to mention that once the file does print the fonts get messed up as well. If I switch over to 32-bit Illustrator and print the same file, it's instant and everything is fine!
Any ideas? The printer is HP Color LaserJet CP4520 Series PCL6, and I'm pretty sure the drivers are up-to-date, but I'm printing over a network and HP support is a bit confusing.

After looking at some brief product copy from HP; it appears the driver supports 64-bit and works with Windows7.  The lag and font corruption could be a network problem, perhaps how the code is interpreted and stored en route to its destination.  You've stumped me.

  • Illustrator: Transparency/masked image printing issue

I edited an image in photoshop. The image was masked then set to grayscale in Photoshop and then "Placed" into Illustrator where I'm working in CMYK mode.
The background color in Illustrator is set to  0 0 0 100K.  When I print the artwork, the masked area of the image (Which is transparent showing my background color) prints blacker than the backgound color of the whole artwork.  When I went in with the eyedropper to read the CMYK value in masked area, it reads 75 68 67 90 where as it should read the background CMYK value 0 0 0 100K.  This explains why it prints different intensity of blacks.  I then went in to View -> Proof Colors to see what the printer should see, but the image looks perfectly fine there.  So can anyone explain to me what I can do to fix this issue?  Is this a known problem with Placing the image into an illustrator rather than opening it in illustrator, or it's only a printer issue?
    Thanks in Advance.
Image attached in "Proof Color" View

    Preferences -> Appearance of Black.
Set those both to Accurately. I don't know why they default to rich blacks when that's not always what is used. I would think most users would perfer to see ACCURATE colors.

  • Illustrator fill effects and printing issue

We just got a new canon imagepress C1+ printer and it's amazing so far. However when we try to print AI files with complex fill effects it never works. It just prints a blank page... As soon as we remove the fill effects and put something more simple in it prints it fine. We need the fill effects though.
We can't bypass it by rastering it because then it leaves these weird lines on the page. If we save to pdf it takes too long because we make changes all day on the files.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this or how to reduce the size when putting in complex fill effects? I'm not even sure it's the size issue because I printed off a simple fill effect design that was 300mb and it went fine.
    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for all the responses. Well it is a one layer AI file. It does print when rastered but it leaves weird lines on the page. There is no transparency on it so that wouldn't work.
It does use a RIP when processing it to print. However on the server when spooling then printing the ram on the fiery controller shows it barely using it. So not sure if that would be the problem? It very well could be a driver problem because it prints fine to all other printers beside this new one. However Ive tried multiple drivers and still nothing. I wonder if this would more than likely be a printer issue as opposed to a illustrator issue?

  • Print issue with Photoshop CS4 and Officejet 6500

I have a Windows 7 Business 64 bits desktop computer. After  installing the Officejet Pro 6500 multifunctional drivers all was  working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size  using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images  printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints  it smaller, about 33%, and on upper left corner of the sheet).
Photoshop sucks but Illustrator print fine. The only way I can print  at the good size in Photoshop, it's when I select Microsoft XPS  document writer as printer and print from there... Not very user friendly !!!
And  yes, it was always the HP Officejet 6500 E709n fax selected by default  by Photoshop instead of  HP Officejet 6500 E709n !
Is anybody can say if it's an HP issue or an Adobe issue ??? Why Illustrator print fine and Photoshop don't ???
    Thank's  in advance.

Deleting the fax printer  associated with this device to allows correct printing is not an  acceptable alternative for me.
If it is a printer issue, why I can print correctly from Illustrator ???

Or: you can go into windows and select a default printer or then the one you use to print with in PS. Then when you are ready to print in PS select the printer. See if that works.
That's my normal configuration then I can't change nothing when all is ok.
Thank you very much for your answer ! Maybe anybody have an other solution or explanation.
    Thank's for your patience.

  • Illustrator CS3 printing to pdf as grayscale only

    Hi,
I'm pulling my hair out over this one. I'm simply trying to print from Illustrator CS3 to Acrobat 8. It will print colour designs fine, as long as they contain no images. But if I try to print a design with a psd in it, or load a psd into illustrator to print, the whole thing comes out in black and white.
I've just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit but have switched to XP compatability mode for Illustrator, still no luck. I'm not sure Win7 is the issue though as I've had this problem before, in 32bit XP, but can't remember how I resolved it. All the updates are installed.
thanks for any help in advance! Kurt.

Ok the Output pane of the print dialogue pointed me in the right direction. I'd got it working for straight psds with yet another go at updating; but in additions, somehow a Pantone colour was the print output mix in addition to the other 4. I've loaded some completely different client work and it now works fine, so I just need to purge that Pantone and it should all be good.
Thanks very much for the help!

  • Illustrator cannot print file

       Hi,
When I try to print an illustration using CS2, I recieve the message: Illustrator cannot print this file.
    Thanks for some help.

    bejiz,
Yes, it looks well and is surely printable this way.
But does it also view and print if you Print to PDF?
If so, it sounds like a printer (driver) issue, so you may try to update/reinstall, or try on another printer.
If not, it sounds like an Illy issue, so you may try to Move the folder or, more easily/destructively and less thoroughly, Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option+Shift during startup.

  • 11x17 Printing Issues with Acrobat version 8.2.3

I'm using Acrobat version 8 on Windows Vista here at work and both myself and a coworker can't print 11x17 pages. We've ruled out printer issues, as 11x17 pages will print from other programs. For a while, I was able to work around this problem by opening the PDF in Illustrator and printing it 11x17 from there. But as of today, none of my Adobe programs will print in 11x17 at all. This is a big issue as I often need to print technical drawings for equipment manuals and those need to be on 11x17 paper.
Has anyone else had this problem or something similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't mentioned anything about your printing environment.  Are you printing to a photocopier via a computer interface?  Or is this an inkjet printer or a laser printer?  Have you selected the appropriate tray for 11x17?  Have you tried "print according to PDF paper size"?  (I don't actually remember the exact wording of that setting)

Hello there Lawrence, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I noticed your post about the troubles you are running into when you attempt to install your OJ 6100 printer on your Windows 8.1 laptop. I read all of your attempts and seen you have tried several methods to try and get the installation to complete successfully.
I would like to make some suggestions that may help. Let me know how it goes!

    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.

  • HP ENVY 100 D410 Printing issues...

I have an HP ENVY 100 that has recently started having printing issues.  We recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and had no problems in the upgrade nor have we had any other software that we've changed.  The problem seems to be somewhat random and the results are always the same.  When commanded to print the printer acts as if it is running out of ink and then distorts the fonts creating vertical lines on the page and skipping rows creating what almost looks like a bar code. It's most peculiar and the only way I can find to solve the issue is to completely restart both my system and the printer.  Thinking that I had a driver issue on my Mac I used the utility on the printer to update drivers and none were found.  To insure that the problems wasn't isolated to just my machine I tried our laptop as well and it seems to have the same problem.  Has anyone had a similar problem?

    Hi Talon,
That more liekly related to the software indeed, I would suggest trying the following steps:
Reset the printing system as listed below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01371980
Open the Applications folder, then Hewlett-Packard and then open the Device Utilities folder, launch the HP Setup Asisistant and follow the steps to reconfigure the device.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder simply re-add the printer by clicking the plus button under Print & Scan.
Now try printing and follow for any difference.
If the same persists uninstall any HP Software by following the HP Uninstaller under the Hewlett-Packard folder.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder follow the steps listed under Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 > I used Apple Software Updates to install the product software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02440673&tmp_task=useCatego ry&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5157536#N1305
Download and isntall the latest Lion Software below:

Once completing the installation click the Apple icon and install any available Software Update.

  • New airport extreme and printer issues

    OK here is the deal
I have the new airport and a hp psc 750 printer. I have a new macbook which can not print on this printer. It will recognize it thru bonjour but will not install the driver - the odd thing is that I have a pc connected directly and a windows based wireless laptop which both are able to print via this airport. I also have an external hard drive that is connected to the airport. All of the computers are able access this drive. So all appears in order except for the macbook-printer issue. I contacted tech support and they claimed driver issue. Anyone have any ideas - I have updated the most recent drivers for this computer and I was able to install this printer via a usb connection. Thanks

There have been a few posts about issues with HP printers working or not working as the case may be through the extreme. I can't remember what they say, but a search for HP in this forum may well help you.
Sorry to be so vague, just thought it might be a start for you.

  • Need help diagnosing cause of printing issue w/ image distortion

Hello, I'm looking for some expert advice for my print issue with image distortion (see above) on my files once setup and proofed by my printer.
I have a large PSD background file out of photoshop (CMYK, 170mb psd) that is being placed into an InDesign document. No preflight errors, all correct SWOP cmyk settings, and I keep having issues where images distort on my printers proofs - they seem unable to explain the issue and can't offer any other suggestions beyond ("just try resaving/uploading again" which of course has an added fee with each upload...).
The files are all fine on our end: on-screen, on our cmyk proofs, and our saved PDFs/packaged files. But everytime our printer opens these they seem to have these distorted image problems - scrambled images (almost as if there was a ghosted transparent image in the distorted area), strange lines (see above, and color distortion (usually greens and pinks, see above).
Is this an issue with my settings/file formats? Maybe the issue lies on our printers end? I'll keep checking this throughout the day and provide quick answers to anyone who can help me get to the bottom of this.
Adobe forums have been a huge help in years past so I decided this was by best bet for a resolution from those who know more than myself (or my printer), thanks for taking the time to help!

  • Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

    Hi,
Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?

  • Remote Desktop Connection and printing issues

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and also connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 to run applications in Windows Server. However, I noted there is problem with the printer issues. Sometimes, when I tried to print some documents using applications
in Windows Server with my local printer in my room connected to desktop, it won't work.
Moreover, I need to go to Windows Server, Component Service to restart printer spooler so it will work again. This is a pain.
I also noticed there is about 30 seconds wait to process any document to print.
Unlike if I print documents directly from my local desktop computer running Windows 7 and connected to local printer, it only takes seconds to print.
My desktop is connected to Windows Server 2008 via local area network. I should not expect such a significant delay in printing.
I also wonder why printer spooler needs to be restarted when printer is not working.
Can anyone advise me about this? Can Microsoft looks into this problem and release updates to fix the bug to improve the system?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Clement

    Hi,
