Illustrator 10 will not open

I recently purchased a new pc and it comes with Windows7 Operating System.
I have Adobe Illustrator 10.03 and it worked perfectly with Windows XP my earlier operating system.
I also recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 PRO and I'm hping this is not causing my Illustrator to not work.
Now that I have an updated operating system, Windows 7, my Illustrator 10.3 does not open whn I clic on it.
Instead the Illustrator screen appears or a few seconds and then disappears. I've tried to repair and modify but still no luck.
Anyone know why my Illustrator application will not work?

It could very well be a preference corruption.
You may try to Move the folder with Illustrator closed (click Move the folder when you have followed the link).
This is a reversible way of resetting the preferences to the defaults; they are not reset when you uninstall and reinstall.

My Illustrator will not open, and if it does, it automatically quits after about a minute. An error box pops up listing problem details and system configuration. Illustrator will not open my files! HELP!

My Illustrator will not open my files. At first I will launch the program open a file then the timer just spins and spins as if its thinking but nothing ever happens. The menu on the dock says its not responding. If I leave it like that for about 2 hours it will eventually open. But when I work and save again I get the same thing, application is not responding unless I let it sit there for a few hours. I reinstalled the software and nothing seems to be working.
Please help. This is wasting my time and very frustrating.

The files I am trying to open are standard CS3 .ai files... I'm not on a networked server. Its just my computer with my licensed software.
I'm creating a website so there is some type and some placed images. But this problem happens even when I start a new file and draw an image with simple illustrator tools. Do you think I have corrupt preferences?

Illustrator will not open certain files

Certain files that I created in Illustrator will not open when I try to open them. I try to open the file and the AI application opens but the file itself does not. If I right click on the file and select properties, under security it says I have no permissions. However on other files created at the same time I have permissions and they open in AI just fine. thoughts?

That is strange, but if this is on your work computer, your should probably contact your system administrator to set it so that you have permission to use these images. If this is on your home computer, you should be able to change the permissions on your own.

Illustrator will not open files

I am using Adobe Illustrator 11.0 for Windows (running on Windows Vista), and for some reason I am not able to open files that were previously created with the same software, on the same system, on the same computer.
The files will not open whether I double-click them or even if I try to open them after I've opened Illustrator first. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

You run as administrator or adjust your user privileges in your group policy editor plus you tell your virus scanner or otehr security tools to keep their hands off AI files. You are running a legacy software on a system it was never tested on, so naturally there will be problems. Those old apps not being compatible with Vista's and W7's security stuff is one of them...

i dropped this illustrator file on my desktop but it would not open saying error 5.

Howard you will want to install Illustrator not copy it from one computer to another. Please removed what you have copied and download a fresh copy of the installation files from Download CS5 products. If you need to locate your registered serial number it will be located at http://www.adobe.com/. Going crazy. Yosemite CS 6 Illustrator will not open files!!!

Help. I have tried many numerous things but to no avail. uninstall, adobe clean, re-install, delete prefs...Cannot figure out why Illustrator doesn't open files. All the other CS 6 programs seem fine. ???

Sorry Larry! I'll try to be more clear.
Basically, when I create a new CMYK document in Illustrator I am having issues saving it as a cmyk pdf file even though I am using the using the Press Quality and PDFX-1a presets. Normally, those settings would create a CMYK pdf file but when I view the color modes in Acrobat and Photoshop those programs are telling me they are in RGB formats.
I have been viewing the color mode in Acrobat Pro by going to print>Advanced. Under the Color Management section on the right the color Profile reads Working RGB: Adobe RGB (1998). See screenshot below.
When I try to open the .pdf files in Photoshop to check the color mode, the mode is showing up as RGB as well. See screenshot below.
Hopefully that makes more sense. If you need any other information or clarification, just hollar! Thanks so much for taking the time to help!

Illustrator will not open

I've downloaded the trial and attempted to use it. I get to the log in, sometimes it opens the base document, sometimes not. Then... gone, not even a crash notice. It just isn't open. I've uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, etc. Now, the cloud manager insists the program is "Up to date" and won't let me redownload, despite the fact that it no longer exists on my machine.

Indesign and Illustrator will not open

I can't open either of the programs. I done tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I troubleshoot both to see if the compatibility work with the server. Is there any other solution to help with my problem?

Adobe Indesign & Illustrator CS6 will not open files off server after Mac Maverick update.

I updated to Mac OS X Maverick and all the sudden my InDesign and Illustrator will not open files off of my works network. I read somewhere about installing the new Java update may help fix it, but I tried it and it did not. I have restarted my computer and reset the connection to the server multiple times, but it does nothing.
The exact message I get is: "Cannot open the files "xxxx.indd" Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file may be missing, or the file may be open in another application" I know for a fact that it is not open in another application so it is not that. I have tried multiple files on the server as well.
For Illustrator, I try to open a file from the server and it just freezes and does not respond so I have to force quit.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!

If you had asked before you did this I would have told you not to move to Mavericks unless you were prepared for problems. I’m not a proponent of upgrade installations for operating systems and there’s no way to eliminate that as the cause.
That said, before you start erasing the whole machine, try uninstalling CS6 and then reinstalling it. You might want to run the cleaner tool after the uninstallation.

Illustrator CC2014 will not open

For starters:
I'm on a Mac, 10.10.1 Yosemite.
Starting this morning, my Illustrator will not open. The last few weeks it has been operating just fine. What happens is I get to a blank welcome screen, the first sign that something is wrong. I'll click that away and simply try to open a new document and it will just hang there. Right clicking on the icon tells me that the "Application not responding..."
Photoshop, InDesign and Bridge have no issues.
I have uninstalled, shut down the computer and reinstalled Illustrator, twice, to no avail.
I have run disk utility, no issues found.
I have turned off most of my fonts to see if that was a cause, still won't open.
I booted my Mac in Safe Mode by holding down Shift at startup and was able to open Illustrator however.
Others in my department can use Illustrator just fine.
ANY suggestions would be helpful.

Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Adobe Illustrator CS6 will not open.

I have a problem: the illustrator app will not open. I get the pop-up: To open "Adobe Illustrator CS6" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. Click "More Info..." to visit the legacy Java SE 6 download website.
Both clicking "More Info..." and "OK" only make the pop-up disappear, but lead absolutely nowhere.
From Oracle.com I have already downloaded and installed 'jre-8u25-macosx-x64.dmg'. After install and restart i keep getting the same pop-up as before and i still can't open Ai. Any advice?

I updated from mavericks to Yosemite today which was a very bad idea. I had issues with my internal sound adapter and the system start is now very slow. I might going back to mavericks..
However, I wish the above link you gave here would work. After clicking the blue download button nothing happens. Any other idea how I could go back from my actual java 8-31 back to java 6?

Freehand can't convert EPS files into editable vectors. I
usually run
EPS files through Illustrator and then into Frehand. If you
don't have
Illustrator you can convert the EPS into a PDF and that
Freehand will
