Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 have both suddenly "Quit Unexpectedly"

I haven't upgraded because I've been comfortable using this version and didn't see any need to up grade. Until now. I called Adobe and was told that they won't support or gaurantee any of their product older than CS6. Any Ideas why they both suddenly quit would be appreciated.

  • Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 freeze up when placing objects.

When I try to place an object, in both CS2 Illustrator and Photoshop, the software freezes and must be restarted. Also when I click on the top of the window that a document is opened in, the document disappears from the screen. It is technically still open, but I can't retrieve it by scrolling. The window is literally off the screen, unable to be reached. I've been having problems with this software since I got it, is there a chance that there is a bug of sorts messing with me in the software?
This is very annoying, I hope there is a solution for it. I end up losing 75% of my work because I have to tip-toe around the software so much.
    Thanks,

  • Trouble Opening Illustrator and Photoshop CS2??

When opening Adobe Illustrator CS2 I receive a Windows Box showing Adobe Illustrator: Illustrator.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x003c197d" referenced memory at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
I am also having trouble accessing Adobe Photoshop CS2. When I open the program it simply stays in one sequence as a loop and does not completely open.

    32 bit Windows XP
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing the full program and it still has the same problem.
I even checked my ram by moving a single memory card from one slot to the next to see if that was the problem but still the same error messages.

  • Newbie asks: Aperture and PhotoShop - why have both??

Though this is more of a general question regarding photo editing, I'll post it here as this seems to be where most of the shutterbugs hang.
I just bought my wife a Nikon D200 for Mother's Day. Though she's definitely not an expert photographer (she barely knows how to use her current Nikon N60 film camera), she seems to have a real knack for taking beatiful shots of the kids, vacation vistas, etc.. I bought the D200 not because I felt she needed all of it's features, but more because I wanted something that was built like a tank, and would hold up to years of use in a variety of outdoor/indoor environments. Though very expensive, I thought the D200 was worth it if it lasts longer than the more affordable offerings. ..I mention all this only to avoid being criticized for "over-buying".
Anyway, what is the ONE essential picture editing software package that we should buy to take advantage of this wonderful camera?? I say one, because I don't think my wife will be too keen on moving images through three or four different applications to make fairly minor adjustments. ...She may take 30 pics/month, so were not talking huge project sizes. ..Perhaps a starting point would be if someone could briefly explain the differences between Aperture and Photoshop and why someone would have both. ..And if forced to pick just one of them, which would you chose? The iPhoto that came with our new iMac is outrageously cool! ..But it offers very limited adjustment tools.

I'll relate how I use both Aperture and Photoshop and why I do what I do so you can come to your own conclusions. I have been using Aperture since it first came out and Photoshop for 10 years.
Though Aperture was originally thought to be a Photoshop competitor (back when it was first released), it is not. Rather, it is a very good front-end to Photoshop. I use Aperture to read in my digital photos from my Nikon camera so I can easily go through them and pick out the ones I want. I should note that generally when I go out and do a "shoot", it is not uncommon for me to run through 200 or more pictures. So I have a significant sorting and selecting process when I get home to my computer. Photoshop is NOT good at this, that is why Adobe added Bridge a couple of years ago. Aperture is more of a competitor to Bridge (though Bridge comes free with Photoshop). I should note that though I like Bridge, Aperture has it beat hands down when it comes to letting me review my photos.
As I have learned to use Aperture, it has taken over many of the front-end adjustments I used to make in Bridge and Photoshop. Things like adjusting the saturation, brightness, contrast, levels, cropping, leveling and sharpening were what I formerly did with my Adobe products, but now instead very easily do with Aperture. I prefer doing these adjustment in Aperture since they are non-destructive to my original file, and the adjustments are kept in a XML sidecar file so the adjusted image file is very small and saves me lots of disk space.
If I like what I see in Aperture, then I can easily publish (books or web) or print from there. Aperture has some great web generation features in it. But, these features are not flexible with their format styles and are geared for use by professional photographers who want to show their work to their clients. But still, it is fun to easily create a web site. And if you have a .MAC account, there is a very nice fit between the two productions. (Note: you can also get this same functionality with more page creation flexibility with Apple's iWeb and to a certain degree with iPhoto).
Aperture has also helped me organize my photo library so that I can easily find that one photo, or set of photos, I want, when I want them.
So, if I'm using Aperture more-and-more, what am I using Photoshop for? As good as Aperture is, and it is getting better, it is no competitor for what Photoshop does best. I wouldn't think of using anything but Photoshop when I need to do "serious" work on my photos. Image repair and restoration, patching, touchups, very fine adjustments, special effects, application of filters, noise reduction, to name a few things, are (to me) Photoshop only. Also, for now, Photoshop has a much better zoom and image inspection feature than does Aperture. Though the loop in Aperture is useful, I find it to be a bit more klunky than the zoom feature in Photoshop.
Both programs are pricey, though Apple has made Aperture a lot more attractive with the recent price reduction from $499 to $299.
And, I agree. Elements is also an excellent choice, though I'm not sure if it supports RAW files the same way Photoshop does. I'm sure the Adobe site will have that information.
Good luck, and congratulations on the new D200. Your wife will really like it.

  • My Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 aren't opening...

Hello, I am having issues with my Illustrator and Photoshop CS6.  Both software are encountering different issues. For Illustrator, the issue is that when the software is trying to start up, it crashes unexpectedly (it seems to get stuck on the "ColorHarmony.aip" then quits). Illustrator opens maybe 5% of the time when i sit there and try to open it, but its rare to get it to work.
For Photoshop, it crashes 50% of the time during start up (similar to Illustrator), but the main issue with Photoshop is that when it actually opens, everything becomes incredibly slow. The mouse glitches and it takes extremely long for anything to actually work, I can't even select tools because the mouse glitches so bad.
    inDesign however is completely fine.
I own the Adobe Creative suite : Standard
My computer is a HP Envy laptop with windows 8.1. It has 16b of RAM, an i7 processor and has a nvidia geforce graphics card.
I have already un-installed and re-installed the software and even did a system restore and it didn't solve the issue.
Please help I need this for school.
    Thanks,
    -Eric

Moving this discussion to the Illustrator forum.
Eric you have not posted any installation errors thus I moved this discussion to the Illustrator forum.  I would recommend you post any specific launch error or performance inconsistencies in the forum relevant to that software title.  You can find a list of available forums at https://forums.adobe.com/welcome.

  • Issues with Win 7 & CS2. Illustrator and Photoshop have "Stopped Working"

Hi,  New to this so I apologize in advance.  Bought a new computer in December '09. 6gig quad processor and plenty of 500gigs of disc space. NOt a Memory Issue! Installed CS2 ( 'cause the computer took all of my money!)  and all worked fine until 4 days ago.  I mainly use illustrator and photoshop. When I tried to save a document... The programs simply "Stopped Working"  I'm a rookie with the tech stuff so please speak slowly and simply....  I would appreciate any help as I'm losing money and work right now!  Thanks

CS2 is totally unsupported under Win 7. And if you have 6 gigs of RAM I'll guess that it's a 64 bit system which simply adds to the complexity.
Sorry, but the best advice you'll get is to upgrade.

  • Illustrator and Photoshop Quit together?

I have Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2. If I have one of the programs open, then try to open the other, the first program quits. i.e. I can't have both of these programs open at the same time. I have a Mac Pro which is a newer computer than my Apple computer at work and at work, I have no problems with both programs open at once.  My operating system is Mac OSX (v 10.4.11).  Please, please help!!!!  Can e-mail me at:  [email protected]

CS2 is not a native intel app. (it was written before Apple was using Intel chips) You have to update to CS3 or above in order to be able to reliably use them simultaneously on an Intel Mac.  Sorry!

  • Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 both will not allow me to print from them

Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 both will not allow me to print from them. InDesign will, but illustrator keeps popping up with "can't print the illustration." i have read other forums and i understand outlining typefaces, and spot colors but, it still will not allow me to print. Even if i open a completely new file and just try to print a black square it will not allow it. the problem might have started with an emailed EPS file? but im not 100 percent sure. i have disconnected and re connected the printer but the problem just seems as if all Illustrator, and Photoshop files will not print from the program and the connection with the printer is non existent (even though it says it is). please help!

    Reset your illustrator prefs
Hold fingers over Shift Alt CTLR (PC) or Shift Opt Command (Mac)
    Boot Illustrator
Immediately after booting depress the 3 keys as fast as you can.

  • I'm having problems with CS2 (mainly illustrator and photoshop

I'm having problems with CS2 (mainly illustrator and photoshop ) randomly shutting down while trying to save a file. Reformatted my laptop for fear of a virus and reloaded... I have gotten nowhere.
    Please Help!

CS3 still had issues with the preferences becoming corrupt, so a possible workaround would be to reset the preferences.
The file is called AIPrefs and is located under 'Documents and Settings/User/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings'. It is a hidden file. Delete it with Illustrator closed and when you launch the program again the file will be rebuilt.
May be it is also sounds like you need more memory for your computer. If you can navigate to your computer's memory controls, and allow your operating system to use a portion of your hard disk drive (HDD) as RAM (maybe 2Gb or so) it may solve your issue.

Third party software Illustrator Repair Kit also must be good solution
It has free demo version at:- http://www.illustrator.repair/

  • Is Indesign CS4 compatible with Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2?

We are a small business and have been working in the CS2 suite forever.  We had someone do some work for us in Indesign CS4 and are looking to upgrade to that version so we can work with these files as changes happen.  If we upgrade to Indesign CS4 will it still be compatible with the rest of my CS2 programs (Illustrator and Photoshop).  Placing files and such. Thanks in advance, I know I am way behind here but it is what is cost effective for now.

Adobe only sells InDesign CC (by subscription) or InDesign CS6. You might find boxed legal copies of CS5 or 5.5 from a vendor like Amazon.
You should be very wary of buying older Adobe software on the Internet or eBay. Many copies don't have a legal license and may cause you problems in the future. Caveat emptor.

  • Which wacom have illustrator and photoshop

    Hello,
I am planning to buy wacom tablet for touch designing.
Since, i'm new to it, could anyone guide me which model would work best for illustrator and photoshop both?
Does all Wacom have these built in softwares? or only some specific ones?
And which version would be more comfortable and easier to operate.
    Thanks in advance

Opening files with Illustrator and photoshop doesn't work, i have to drag the files from finder in to the program.
This problem appears after opening 4 a 5 files, rebooting helps another 4 a 5 times and appears again.

I'd recommend reposting in the Boot Camp forum, that is where the Boot Camp and Windows gurus hang out.
    Good luck.

    houseofrest,
According to this page, you can use it for CC:
Adobe Illustrator CC for Mac, Windows, PC - Tech specs
    Or you can buy CS6:
