Illustrator bugged out when going from 2 monitors to 1

I went from 2 monitors to 1 and now my illustrator is all messed up. For example, when i try to open a new document, this is the dialog I get.
I tried resetting the workspace and preferences but no luck....
Tried holding alt ctrl shift when starting up illustrator but i did not get a dialog to reset the prefences...so i dug inside the system and removed the Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 Settings folder to let it recreate them...and still no go.
Any suggestions on what else I could do to fix this?

No...although some people suggest removing 1.4.1 after installing 2.0. YMMV

Yes, just enter the serial number provided upon purchase the next time you launch (instead of clicking on demo).

Make sure the source remains the same - check the filmstrip.
The only suggestion is to place the batch for editing and printing into a collection or (temporary) quick collection and access the images from there in both modules.

In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

In order to be cross platform you must be using the Open Type version of all fonts to cause the least disruption. Macs can read and process the Windows .ttf type format but PCs can't process Mac formatted type. Most recent versions also cannot use the older PS Type 1 fonts.

Monitor Blanks in and Out When Waking From Sleep

Since getting my Mac Pro (with Apple installed RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT), I've noticed that the screen does not immediately turn on when waking from sleep, as my older Macs did. Rather, it turns on for a split second, goes blank for two seconds, turns on again for a split second, goes off again for a second or more, and then comes on permanently.
This behavior only occurs when waking from sleep; it does not occur when the monitor turns on from the active screen saver.
Is this normal for the MAC Pro with an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT? I have a HP w2408h monitor with a DVI to HDMI cable. Everything else works fine, including all video behavior.

I just opened the lid to see about the BT setting and the display didn't go off-on. The BT is off, I'm pretty sure I did that when setting it up as I don't use BT for anything.
I wasn't suspecting anything was seriously wrong, it's just that quick-on feature was highlighted as a selling point and I was curious about the glitch, if it was a setting I could change, for instance like you've highlighted. Annoying when things don't work as advertised.
And if I show the machine off to colleagues and friends, that will be a bad first impression they will want explained.

Time outs when redirected from RDS CB to RDSH

I'm troubleshooting connectivity for the following setup:
1x RD Gateway server
1x RD Connection Broker Server also License server
1x RD Web server
1x RDSH server with multiple RemoteApps
Gateway is configured to allow bypass for local connections. Certificate has the correct name and is successfully installed. Certificate is from an internet CA.
When users come in over the internet RemoteApps launch pretty quickly every time. When users connect over the LAN RemoteApps launch successfully but much slower. When users connect over some VPN connections the connection times out when launching
a RemoteApp.
Over VPN I can see a successfull CAP and RAP in the Gateway Event log. I can also see a successful connection and successful redirection from the gateway to the connection broker over HTTP. In the SessionBroker log I can see a successful connection, but
then when the redirect to RDSH is attempted event 819 occurs "This connection request has timed out. User could not log on to the end point within the alloted time. Remote Desktop Connection Broker will stop monitoring this connection request."
When you connect over the LAN it takes longer but successfully redirects, and when connecting over the internet (non VPN) it connects quickly and successfully.
Any ideas?

What’s your server and client version you are using?
Please uncheck the option “Bypass RD Gateway for local address” for gateway setting and verify whether there is any improvement in connections. Also as you have commented that you are receiving time out when you use VPN connection, please see whether there
is any blockage from firewall side for not allowing VPN connection to make the connections.
This might also occur due to antivirus or other 3rd party related software. Because as you can connect directly from internet without any issue but there is some problem with internal LAN and VPN connection, So seems issue with internal firewall\antivirus.
Please check whether it is not blocked or any policy applied for not allowing connection.

Desktop Wallpaper Screensaver Bug? [When waking from sleep]

I'm not sure if this topic is in the correct category but it seems to fit.
I have a new 15.4" MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.3. I have multiple images that I want as a wallpaper and so I decided to select "Change picture" in the preferences pane. I also selected "Random order" and chose "When waking from sleep" as the time for the wallpaper to change.
However, if I close my lid, and then re-open it, when the computer wakes up, instead of the wallpaper changing, it changes twice.
Now, this isn't really a problem but it can get annoying sometimes and I was wondering if this problem is due to something I do, rather than the operating system.

I just noticed something, perhaps this will help? There appear to be two kinds of sleep, display sleep and computer sleep. I noticed that if my machine is running (playing music, for instance) and the display goes to sleep, when I use the mouse to wake up the screen the background changes. So maybe when I wake up the machine from computer sleep it changes once for waking from computer sleep, and once more for waking from display sleep?

Aperture Import destination grayed out when importing from iPad

I'm trying to import a bunch of photos from my iPad. I want to dump them all in one project in Aperture, but after selecting the iPad from the import source list, it grays out the options to select the destination. It also grays out the option to uncheck the Autosplit events. I do not want to do this import and then have to go back and merge 20 projects. Any ideas?

Animation Keyframes BUGGING OUT when modified

I created a successful banner ad with png images that has position, opacity and clip animation. I wanted to tweak the timeline to extend the duration at the beginning and end an extra second, but when doing so the clip animation on certain layers becomes disabled, and/or uneditable using keyframes. For example, when extending the sequence .5 seconds at the end, I adjust one layer's position keyframe accordingly... perfect, but when I change the value of a clip keyframe on another layer, that layer and earlier layers in the sequence become uneditable, and no undoing will bring them back. If I save and reopen, the project works, but again seems to bug up when adjusting clip keyframes.
Edge Animate has also just begun to crash Windows Explorer, freezing the entire PC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no success. I even renamed the preferences folder in order to generate a new one, still no luck. Please, help.
Just started using this program and was impressed with its functionality, now I am at my wits end and can't even create new projects.
I have not updated any Adobe programs since the time Animate was working properly and now.

I cannot update to Edge Animate 14.1.1 because Adobe Creative Cloud cannot find available updates. From reading the Adobe's forums I have discovered other installed Adobe programs are not up to date as well.
I have uninstalled Creative Cloud and reinstalled it as suggested by Ashutosh.Nigam on - Re: Adobe creative cloud not finding updates using the link provided - Get Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App & Adobe Application Manager
I ran Creative Cloud as administrator after reinstallation and still it cannot find updates.
Again I am running Edge Animate 14.1 Version 5.0.1. The most recent update Creative Cloud found was on January 5th, 2015 - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1 64-Bit Version 5.7.1

Problems losing quality when going to library module from develop module. Sharpness and color quality decrease

This is normal. There will be a difference as you are comparing Library Previews with the image in Develop which accesses the original file, although the difference is usually slight. Real results need to be judged from exporting after selecting the output sharpening e.g. for glossy paper, if printing or screen sharpening for web images or emailing.
The idea with sharpening is to apply capture sharpening so that the image in Develop looks just sharp but not over sharp. Lightroom then uses the correct algorithm for output sharpening based upon image size and quality settings etc.

My illustrator files keep on jumping from one monitor to another

I have two Apple 30" Cinema displays, a 24" Cintiq and an overhead projector.
My illustrator files keep on jumping from one of the Apple Displays either to the
Cintiq or the projector even if they are off.
Also illustrator files may open in any one of them.
Any suggestions please.

The file should open on the screen with the menu bar, unless the file was opened before and then it will remember the window location.
Try doing a window >> application frame, and see if that shoiuld force your windows to open in the application frame

Why do documents shrink when going from Pages To Word?

To work on my Word docs on my iPad, I email them to myself, and save the attachments in Pages. To get them pack to my laptop, I email them back to myself from the iPad, as Word docs. The attachments that come back are half the size of the original (in KBs), even though I do not remove any content, and usually have added some. Does anyone know why this is, and what occurs to reduce the document to half the KBs it was before?

The content is text only, being composed in Word and edited in Pages. It's getting incoporated into a bigger Word document (the master document). I worry that a document which goes from 100 KB to 40KB is missing something - and that it will somehow corrupt the master document if I add it in.
Pages takes .docx docs and saves them as .doc. But converting them back to .docx in Word after they've been compressed doesn't bring them back to their original size.

Illustrations greyed-out when printing PDF file from Adobe Reader

From within PageMaker 7 I've made a 52-page PDF document in Distiller (selected job option is for Print) and uploaded it to my website. It contains many greyscale illustrations (TIFs and JPGs first imported into PageMaker), and text. I am able to view the PDF file over the net, and can print the illustrations and text on each page with no problem. I am using an old HP laser printer (LaserJet 5L). Other users are able to view the same PDF document on the net, and they can see all the illustrations and text on every page. However, some users who have tested it are reporting that when they try to print out the pages on their own printers, most of the illustrations are greyed-out between pages 3 and 51. The text is printing correctly on their printers. The images on the front and back cover are printing, and so is an 11-page comic strip (made up entirely of 11 TIFs, with no additional text). Can anyone work out why all the other illustrations throughout the document are printing greyed-out on their printers?

I am replying to my own question.
After posting here, I received feedback from a viewer that the PDF file is downloading and printing out pages with no greying-out of the illustrations. It looks to me as though the problems are arising from other viewers' slow internet connections and/or hardware RAM for printing, especially if trying to print all pages at once, rather than Saving As to hard drive, then printing.

Colors are appearing washed out when saving from Illustrator to PDF

Hey Guys,
I am working on a cover page for my office to go along with our bid packages. I have finished adding all of the elements that they wanted and added a little flare to it. Its a really basic document and when I save it into a PDF form, the colors appear washed out or like the PDF adds a lot of white. the Rich black appear gray, the red appears pinkish... and the blue is much lighter than it looks in AI.
I need this to be completed soon, and I have been having this problem for a while now. Im not sure if its just the way it looks on the screen, or if it will print like that. I am a self taught Adobe guy.. So I am a little confused as to how to make this all work

What the PDF ultimately looks like depends on the settings when you create it. If you open it in Reader, it may be somewhat off, but in Acrobat it should look right (if your colour management settings are the same as in Illy).
A rich black may be customized to match the artwork in question (such as no C if there is no C in the artwork), or you may have some of each, often with emphasis on C and maybe M; there may be different views on what a rich black should hold.

Has anyone else experienced a glitch when making cuts? Many of my cuts slip a frame or two when moved from source monitor to sequence and it started with the latest update

Once I updated to the latest version of Premiere 2014.2 I started experiencing a glitch when my cuts would slip a frame or two. At first it was randomly. Then I had footage I was using that was an .avi file that I converted to .m4v using vlc and now in my Premiere project, are having the greatest difficulty keeping my original cut that I create in my source monitor. When I bring it into my timeline, the new frames are added. When I double click the clip into my source monitor, I see that my original cuts remain, not shifted. Looking back in my timeline, unwanted frames are still there. I have to bring it into my source monitor to guess where the right frame would be to compensate for this. It happens more often with the converted files but still happens to .mp4s as well. I am using a Mac Pro 15-in from Early 2011. Thanks for the advice in advance!

I downloaded and installed the latest iTunes 11.2.1 (1) update yesterday. It appears to have corrected this issue to a large extent: plugging in an iThing to sync no longer seems to cause explosive growth in memory footprint. leaks reports a much slower growth in dead memory:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 353 leaks for 726488 total leaked bytes.
20 minutes later:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 364 leaks for 1256056 total leaked bytes.
20 minutes later, after DLing updated apps and doing another sync:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 364 leaks for 1256056 total leaked bytes.
Memory allocation started at 70Mb, grew to 200Mb, and appears to have stabilized there.
I'm going to keep an eye on it overnight, but it looks as if this may not be a complete system killer as it was before, at least in my case. In any case, I can highly recommend this latest iTunes update for anyone else experiencing this specific issue. Updating bug 16772016 with this new information.
