Illustrator CC 64-bit application hangs

I'm getting Illustrator CC application hangs on a win 7 system after opening up a file or even select a tool or path in files that were previously created in Ai CC, even hours before.
Also getting the following errors when a file has been finally opened after a several minutes:
"There is not enough memory available to process the appearance of an object + application hang + Illustrator CC"
I'm on tight schedules here and clients are waiting. I need the files that I created but they can't be opened or edited!
So please don't offer solutions such as uninstalling and reinstalling the application....
Here's some bug reports from the Event viewer:
The program Illustrator.exe version 17.0.0.256 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

  • After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 Long Startup and Application Hang

    Problem:
    After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS6 are very slow to start all of a sudden.  Around 5 minutes to get to/by the intro dialogue box.  For AE, the majority of the time is spent on the "initializing user interface." Then, if I can make a comp, and even a layer inside that comp, it will "Hang" if I attempt to open AE's General preferences for example (no preferences window ever comes up).  This "hang" is what the Event Viewer in windows calls it, with the faulting module being afterfx.exe.  Premiere is not much different.   It makes it to the new project window fast, but after setting project parameters and creating the first sequence, I can't get into the preferences either and the application hangs.  It is important to note that if I have another application open, like Chrome or Firefox for example at the time the application hangs, they will freeze as well.  As soon as I kill the Afterfx.exe process, they come back to life.
    I have read nearly all threads on the subject, and am struggling to find a solution:
    Deleted preferences folder under my username's appdata.
    Turned off Firewall (network traffic from dynamiclink, qtserver, etc was allowed, but what the hay)
    ran windows system file checker/malwarebytes/rkill/rootkit detection.
    checked for windows compatibility checkboxes under the file.
    Uninstalled Wacom Tablet drivers
    Disabled Aero
    Started with ctrl-alt-shift to delete pref.
    uninstalled video driver and replaced with one 6 months ago.
    uninstalled, reinstalled, and tested various quicktime versions back to version 7.69
    moved plugins folder
    moved opengl's plugin out of the folder temporarily
    Disabled all 3rd party codecs (xvid was the only one installed and for months)
    reinitialized default directshow filters
    checked for adobe font list (none found) and removed any fonts from 1 month ago to present.
    used msconfig to selective startup without other applications/services running.
    Uninstalled all adobe products, and reinstalled.
    I performed all of these in a systematic manner, trying to solve the problem.  None have fixed the problem.
    So it doesn't seem to be a network issue, a codec issue, a plugin issue, a driver issue, font issue, or conflicting application.  Any thoughts?
    System Info:
    PC Windows 7 pro 64-bit SP1
    Core i7 - 960 24GB ram
    AMD Radeon 6750  v12.10
    Adobe CS6 Master Collection

    Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
    I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
    Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
    I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
    The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
    I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
    I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

  • How to find out the position in which an application hangs

    Hi,
    is there any possibility to find out the position in a source, in which a deployed application hangs?
    For example, there is an endless loop in an application, which is already deployed. In runtime the application hangs in this loop. How can I findout in which line the application hangs?
    In other words, how can I see the stack of a certain process,for example, http_workerx?

    Hi Ali,
    With <b>SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE) 7.1 SP3</b> it is very easy.
    <i>1.) Open the SAP Management Console
    2.) Go to AS Java Threads tree node - you will see all the threads that are currently started on the system
    3.) Check for threads that are colored in red - it takes about 30 sec the system to detect that an HTTP thread (http_workerx), as it is in your case, is hanging/executing endless loop.
    4.) Right click on the hanging thread (colored in red) and pick 'Callstack' from the pop-up menu
    5.) In the new window you will see the stack-trace showing what exactly this hanging thread is doing at the moment.</i>
    With the <b>previous versions (or SPs)</b> you need to apply a little bit more technical skills for the same result. <i>(1) you need to do produce thread dump of the server that is suspected to have hanging thread</i> and (<i>2) to analyze this thread dump (check what the threads in Running state are doing).</i> As it is in your case with the HTTP worker threads, their names are also printed in the thread dump, so you can focus only on them.

  • Illustrator CC (32 bit/64 bit) and InDesign CC crashing on windows 8.1

    I have recently installed the trail versions of illustrator CC (32 bit/64 bit) and InDesign CC using windows 8.1 operating system. When I run the applications they both crash. I have updated them but still facing the same problem.
    I get the “what’s new screen” on Illustrator and then it crashes. After that, I get the “trial screen” with the amount of days left to use. With InDesign, it start. I get the “trial screen” with the amount of days left to use. Click continue and it crashes.
    I have already lost 6 days of the trail. Please advise on how to fix this problem.

  • Illustrator CS6 64-bit Crashes When Opening Files

    This is a problem that has been plaguing me since I moved to CS6 64-bit (on a Windows 7 machine). I've only seen it in Illustrator:
    Seemingly randomly once or twice a week, I will click on an AI file in Windows Explorer to open it, and Illustrator will crash to the desktop. There is no consistency to the files that I've been able to find. Some are local to my hard drive, and some are on the network. It could be a file I've opened several times the same day already or a file I haven't opened in months. I restart Illustrator and everything's fine— I can access the file, no problem.
    The only trait that I have sussed out is that it seems to happen more frequently if I've left the computer idle for 20 minutes or so, which is well below the sleep time-out for my hard drive. It's almost like Illustrator doesn't know how to wait for a file if the file isn't immediately available. (The files are not open elsewhere.) I've read that Illustrator is cranky with files on network locations, but this happens more frequently with local files.
    Program files are loaded from an SSD, but the scratch disk is my local HD and my files are stored on the HD. My scratch disk was originally the SSD, but the problem occured almost every day under that configuration. Moving the scratch disk to the HD made the crashes occur less frequently.
    The event log for yesterday's crash doesn't seem to be particularly helpful. (Posted below.)
    Is this behavior familiar to anyone? I have been searching Adobe's forums and the web in general with no luck for the last year. My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the forums and I haven't found it.
    Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a shot... but wouldn't other applications be experiencing the same thing? I open Photoshop files all day and it's never happened. I'm in and out of CorelDraw as well. (I don't open Corel files in Illustrator.) I also see no disk errors in the event log, but, as I said, I'll check for updates because that couldn't hurt, right?  :-)
    Thanks again.

  • Several daily crashes in Illustrator CS6 64-Bit

    Hello,
    After a long hard struggle with CS6 32-bit, Windows XP and 4 GB RAM, we decided to do our designers a favor and install Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit, 16 GB RAM and a new SSD for them, in order to speed up their daily work. Besides that, the PC is equipped with an i7-2600k and some HP-motherboard (it's an HP Elite 8200 with the beforementioned upgrades).
    The good news is, that it has increased the speed greatly.
    The bad news is, that Illustrator (the 64-bit version) has a tendency to crash several times each day. I havent' been able to find a pattern, unfortunately, but here's log-files from event viewer:
    Faulting application Illustrator.exe, version 16.0.0.682, faulting module 4f6e45b7, version MSVCR100.dll, fault address 0x10.0.40219.325
    Faulting application Illustrator.exe, version 16.0.0.682, faulting module 4f6e45b7, version dvaui.dll, fault address 0x6.0.0.0.
    I've seen a few threads regarding the first crash, which suggested, that we should run Illustrator with administrative priveleges. So we did that (setting the permissions in the shortcut), but with no luck. I have absolutely no idea what dvaui.dll is, though.
    The user is a local administrator, which should rule out any permission-issues in my eyes.
    Any ideas on how to proceed?
    Best regards,
    Thomas

    We are having the same issue and unable to find a common pattern. We reformatted the PC and reinstalled Illustrator.
    Logged in as a local administrator and domain administrator, same issue.
    Cleared Settings & Preferences, same issue.
    Turned off Preferences sync, same issue.
    Turned off AVG, same issue.
    Unable to find a common pattern at all.

  • Unable to start Illustrator CS6 64-bit on Windows 7

    I installed the CS6 Master Upgrade yesterday and almost all of the apps are working correctly. However, when I try to open Illustrator CS6 64-bit it returns this error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." The 32-bit version works correctly. Any suggestions or similar cases? Thanks.

    I feel like I need to chime in here.  I just installed my new Master Collection of CS6 all my x64 applications were working with the exception of Illustrator x64.  I Googled the heck out of this and found so much back and forth between adobe saying it's a microsoft issue (.net framework and redistributables) and microsoft saying it's an Adobe issue.
    My windows installation is fairly fresh, but for the heck of it I tried unexpectedpanda's solution of uninstalling/re-installing the Microsoft Visual C Libraries.  I followed the instructions to the letter, I even went so far as to uninstall/re-install .net itself.  No luck.
    I saw the Lightroom (error unable to start correctly) fix mentioned in a few places, and thought frick I've tried EVERYTHING else.  I did the following to fix this annoying issue:
    1) Download the Lightroom fix (mentioned in the link from crebimacedo)
    2) Extract the .dll files from the .zip.  There are 2 files; msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll
    3) Opened folder Adobe Illustrator CS6 (64 Bit)/Support Files/Contents/Windows
    4) The above folder already contains the msvcr80.dll so I did NOT overwrite it.  I simply copied and paste the msvcr100.dll into the above folder.
    5) Tried to launch Illustrator CS6 (x64) and imagine that. WORKING!
    To me this says that this was indeed an Adobe issue and their installer appears to be missing a file.  Especially when a fix file from their website resolves the issue.
    I would also just like to add that I have confirmed that this file already existed in my C:\Windows\System32 and in C:\WindowsSysWOW64 so my OS was NOT missing it as a .dll; again reiterating that it appears to make this an Adobe issue.
    Good luck to the rest.
    This one works for me ...

  • C application hangs intermittently on invoking Closehandle() function in Win 7 64bit OS

    Hi,
    I have a application which basically deals with network operations like begin session, send/receive etc. The application also has mutex create, request and close. Before terminating the transaction between the client and server, there is a call to Closehandle()
    while clears that mutex that was created during initialization. (Mutex is released prior to close). During closing the mutex, in Windows 7 64 bit OS, the application goes to hung state intermittently. The same application used work without any issues in Win
    XP.
    PS: The C application is written in Visual Studio 6.0
    Hence requesting for any thoughts to resolve this problem!!
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
    When application hangs, it needs to be restarted. Yes, this problems happens sometimes.
    With respect to the anti-virus and firewalls, I had tried turned off firewalls and anti-virus but did not help!
    This application basically acts as a network layer which is the bridge between client and server.
    Below is the code snippet from the app which shows about mutex creation, request and close. I had configured ADPlus to the application to check on which line of the code the hang occurs and from that dump file could notice that the cause for the hang is
    Closehandle() function.
    Code snippet -
    typedef unsigned long OSLMUTEXSEM;
    extern OSLMUTEXSEM gsemCrypt;
    void PASInitialize() {
    char *            pMutexSemName;
    DWORD     NTRC;
    pMutexSemName = gsemCrypt;
    oslRc = MutexSemCreate((char*)NULL,&gsemCrypt));   //Mutex creation by calling CreateMutex() function
    oslRc = MutexSemRequest( gsemCrypt, SEM_WAIT_FOREEVER); //Request the semaphore by calling WaitForSingleObject() function -infinite //timeout
    // some operation
    oslRC = MutexSemRelease( gsemCrypt ));  // release the mutex by calling ReleaseMutex function
    void PASTerminate(){
    oslRC = MutexSemClose(gsemCrypt); //calling Closehandle()function to close the mutex
    WSACleanup();
    From the dump files, it was noticed that the hang happens at the call MutexSemClose(..) function which in turn calls windows function Closehandle().

  • Funny noises, beachballs and application hangs (MacBook Pro 2010)

    Hi,
    My late 2010 model 17 inch MacBook Pro frequently makes an odd noise (seeming to come from the left side) when I am using it.  It sounds a bit like a click or a whirr (or both); if this happens application I am using will often hang for seconds to a few minutes, before the noise recurs and everything goes back to normal.  It is quite irritating!
    Interestingly, the Finder itself doesn't crash and I can switch to other applications; these also hang if I try to use them but all is restored when the noise happens again.
    The most obvious app is iTunes, which will stop playing music when noise happens then restart as soon as the problem rectifies itself.
    Any suggestions as to what this could be?  It's been happening for years now and my machine still seems ok
    Thanks

    You have a failing hard disk   BACKUP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATLY. Assuming you are using an MBP with a physical disk and not an SSD (which is most like the case for a 2010 model MPB)  then the clicking noise you are hearing is the HDD equivilant of a stroke.  The reader head hits a piece of "interesting" data, flips out, smacks against the axle of the disk, and then the disk has to spin up again,  causing the application hangs.   When the disk is going through this, no data can move in or out.  The reason finder still works is that some data is pre-loaded.  You may still have functionality for a few seconds even after the disk quit working.  Since these are tiny blips in data, the finder still works.   Applications, which are constantly passing data, hang and wait for the data.    Usually, if you go into the system.log file, you will see a stack of I/O errors stemming from the disk/sector in question.    Again, BACK UP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATLY and take the laptop to a genius bar.
    The Whirring noise you hear is probably the disk moter spinning up during this process.

  • Application hangs on setVisible call in Solaris 8

    I have a Swing application that I am having trouble with. The swing part of it is simple enough, however it does use a C++ API with JNI. It all works perfectly on Linux. However in Solaris 8 the application hangs on the call to either myFrame.pack () or myFrame.setVisible (true). It simply never returns from either of these functions when called. It doesn't crash.
    I have commented out all of the JNI stuff to eliminate that as a possible cause. Oh and I am using the -d64 option on the JVM because the JNI library is 64 bit.
    Any thoughts?

    First question is - did you get a thread dump?
    On Solaris, if you run the app in a terminal window, then type C-\ (control-backslash) you get a thread dump. What you'll be looking for is multiple threads "waiting for monitor" on the same object.

  • Mapviewer application hangs on WebLogic

    The MapViewer 11g application hangs after some time and does not respond to any request. MapViewer is running on a separate domain. The MapViewer is very lacklustre in performance. Please suggest what could be done. It takes the CPU of the server to 99%
    Regards
    Edited by: user5108636 on 10/05/2010 22:43

    I would say there is no ideal number of mappers. Increasing the number of mappers may be good for several concurrent requests, but at some point too may mappers may overload the server and the result may not be good. Each mapper is used to generate a map response for a request. And each map depends on the spatial data that is being rendered which may be more complex than others. So it is kind of playing a bit to find the "ideal" number of mappers.
    Another thing that you can do, is to evaluate the requests to see if they are taking long to be processed (set log level to finest and look the request log). There may be situations where too many features are being returned for a theme. In these cases the scale may not be optimized and can be tuned.

    When I said I doesn't work- I meant It started and
    hanged after printing
    "Waiting for...". It doesn't promt any window or
    anything.Then the bat file is still executing. My guess is that it might be writing text to the standard output device, which nothing is consuming, so it is blocked on I/O waiting for you to consume the output by reading it.
    Hmmm. There was an article on www.javaworld.com about that which I was going to point you to, but it seems to have been archived. Drat.
    Well I found it anyway, but not by searching JavaWorld's site - but thru google instead. I guess JavaWorld has removed it from its searchable index for some reason.

    I have downloaded from the internet the source code of native method but do not know what I can do with it.
    Is it possible to debug native method somehow?
    How to detect where the library contans the native method is located?
    What other ways can provide more information about reason.
    It seems that the problem is related to graphics. Judging by class name "X11GraphicsDevice" it is related to X server. May be some server settings?
    The problem is present on SLED 11 machines.
    It is not reproduced on SLED 10.
    I will be really appreciate for any help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vasily.

    Also I found that the native code is in java 1.5 source code: \j2se\src\solaris\native\sun\awt\awt_GraphicsEnv.c.
    How it is possible to compile it?

  • Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 Application develped in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Visual Basic failed

    I just developed an Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 Application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Visual Basic. It works fine on my Windows 7 Professional 32-bit Operating System. But when I tried to run it on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System which also has Illustrator CS 5.1 installed, the application crashes when it runs to the code which calls Illustrator Library Objects.  The error message is System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'WindowsApplication_GangArt.Module2' threw an exception. ---> System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Illustrator.Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{95CD20AA-AD72-11D3-B086-0010A4F5C335}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)). I wonder why the application cannot fined Illustrator on the new 64 bit computer.

  • Mac CS5: Why is Illustrator not 64-bit?

    Was just wondering why Photoshop is the only 64-bit application in the suite?

    Hmmmfff.  I was under the impression the whole suite was 64-bit.
    Not cool.
