Illustrator CC crashes while saving anything.
I am a graphic design student in college in my last semester and I have many projects invovling Illustrator I need to get done. Since a few weeks ago, both my Illustrator CS6 and CC have been crashing only when I save my progress. I have since uninstalled the CS6 and only have the CC version, but I go to save anything and it tells me Illstrator has stopped working and shuts down every time. I need these projects saved for Monday. Does anyone have any advice for me?
You should know if you have installed plugins?
In your description I see 4 different possible causes (there might be more):
- preferences are corrupt.
rebuild them
Jacob has a problem solving link for that:
See "Move the folder" on this page: http://www.bugge.com/Family-and-friends/Illy/illy.html
- the missing printer. Illustrator saves this information into the file and if the printer is missing next time you open the file, you might run into trouble. Same if there's no printer or no printer driver or driver and printer not matching. See this one: http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-problems-printing-non-postscript.html (step 8)
- corrupt fonts.
You need to check them. Or simply uninstall every non-standard font and see if it works.
- a font management application such as Suitcase or FontExplorer.
Illustrator simply doesn't like them all too much.

There seems to be an incompatibility problem that causes PS CS to crash while saving under OSX 10.4.11. Crash reports say Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xfffffff4 and strange folders ( ¬∂ßå∆∂´ ) are created in Home/Preferences. Apple blames Adobe. Adobe blames Apple. Either way - we're screwed.
Any gurus out there with thoughts?Yes lower the allocation to about 75 -80 %.
You need some memory for the system also before relaunching PS trash the settings folder to give yourself a clean start and also if you don't have another disk or partition as a scratch disk get one.
To trash the settings folder
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file. -
Garageband crashing while saving
Hi all,
I was working on a track on Garageband today on my ipad when it suddenly crashed while saving. Now whenever I open it up, it goes back to that song and won't save - so I can't access all my other files! There's an awful lot of work on those files and I really want to get them back but I've no idea how. I've tried switching ipad off and back on, but that hasn't worked - and the files aren't synced up to my PC as I haven't had access to it for a while.
Is there a way to get back to the main screen on garageband? Please someone help, this is so frustrating!
Thanks
PSSad to say this has now happended to me twice.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers -

Illustrator cc crashes while panning or zooming
So, the company that I work for recently decided to move to the brand new creative suit, but a lot of us have been having the same problem (even on MAC). After around and hour or 2 of use, illustrator (ONLY ILLUSTRATOR) crashes, I get a windows error message saying something like, “illustrator has stopped working, seconds later is closes and that’s it, if I haven’t saved anything then that’s lost. This happens at least 6 times per day sometimes more.
The thing is though, that I have noticed 2 things… when I first open illustrator, its snappy and works great, after an hour or so it gets a bit sluggish and slow (usually by then I know that it’s going to crash soon). It usually (if not all times) crashes when am zooming or panning around.
This has been happening for over a month, every day.
Details:
Illustrator cc (updated to the latest version)
Windows 8 – 64 bits
12 gb of ram
Intel core i7-4770 3.4ghz
Anything else I should mention?
I haven’t tried anything yet, but as soon as I finish this project I’m on I’ll format the pc, and try installing illustrator again.
Any suggestions so that I don’t have to format the pc?1. both tahoma and verdana are installed.
2. no plugins
3. no font managers (if thats what you mean)
4. i save my file on the main hard drive (i usualy use google drives folder so my files are allways backed up online, but the others here dont use google drive so i dont think its that)
the only common factor here i think its windows 8 and the computers we use, we all have a dell xps... something. -
Illustrator CC crashes when saving to network drive
Hi all,
We have 3 Macs all running 10.10 or 10.9 which crash when saving eps file types (PDF saves fine) to a NetApp network drive using Illustrator CC 2014.1.0 release.
Users can save files locally and then copy the files to the network drive with no problems.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks in advance
ColinColin,
It is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:

Form Builder crashes while saving .fmb file when connected to db
Hi,
I am getting error The instruction at "0x679c352c" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read".
Forms version is 6.0.8.11.3 and database version is 10.2.0.3.0
I am doing the following steps:
1) Open .fmb file in forms builder
2) Connecting to database
3) Making some changes in form
4) Compiling (Ctrl+Shift+K) and generating form (Ctrl+t)
5) Saving form <--- Here I am getting the error and form crashes
If I do not connect to database then builder is allowing me to save the file
1) Open .fmb file in forms builder
2) Making some changes in form
3) Saving form (Successful)
I did some exercise just as a guess that may some part of the form is causing this error. I full expanded all components of the form i.e. blocks, canvases, triggers etc.
This exercise produced that 3 program units were giving same error while full expending those. I deleted those 3 program units and re-created them. Now it is not showing me this memory error while full expanding all program units. I can now fully expand my full form.
But I am still getting this error while saving the changes when I am connected to database.
Please help.

Flash CS5 crashed while saving (unexpected error)
When working on a flash project in cs5 my computer crashed. When I re opened it i got a text box saying unexpected file type.
Any help, advice or answers would be great. I've been working on this project for almost a hundred hours and I would hate to lose it over a system crash. Even telling me that its gone would be a relief.
Also I do have a swf file from the almost completed flash. Is there anyway to convert it back to flash so I can finish editing? I tried using sothink swf decompiler but when I ran it through all I got was a blank fla.
I would greatly appreciate any words or help. Thank youThis has happened to me twice. This time it happened with a file that crashed several times before while moving a MC attached to a IK rig. The final crash was while saving. All I get now is "An error occurred while opening" and can not open the file.

Illustrator CS6 crashes when saving or printing
A couple weeks ago, my AI CS6 started crashing when saving complex line work (Rhino Make2D exports) or when I tried to check the printer setting. I've reinstalled AI and installed the latest updates. For a few days, the saving problem went away but it has returned today. I have cleared the preferences folder.
I am running Windows 7.
Is this a Rhino/AutoCAD export issue? The saving problem persists even when I copied a small section of the linework to a fresh AI document. Simple vectors don't lead to saving problems. Thanks!You need to provide system information or else this is no use to anyone...

Illustrator CC Crashes when saving Symbols
My issue is when I open an .eps, (any .eps because I tried it with a multitude of files), and I try to drag a path into the symbols panel then "save symbol library" Illustrator immediately crashes. It doesn't matter if its just one symbol or multiple symbols.

I do not have a prior version of Illustrator on my computer.

Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i5

I use a Drawing Tablet not a mouse
Your help in this is GREATLY appreciated!!!I found a temporary "fix" although not a legitimate one. If I open a new document and select all from the existing .eps file and then paste into a new document, I can then save the individual paths as symbols and then save the symbol library without a crash. But I would like to note, THIS DOES NOT RESOLVE ILLUSTRATOR CC'S CRASH ISSUE. It is just a way around it. I would like to know how to resolve the original issue. I tried installing today's update with no positive result, I also tried unhiding my fonts as mentioned in a previose post, that also did not work.

Edge animate crashing while saving...
Edge animate always fails while saving one of my projects. I tried it in different systems but still the same issue. Does edge have a limit in no of symbols??? because i have about 100 symbols.... can you provide me with a patch or something for this issue. Please reply ASAP. I am attaching the project here..
http://1drv.ms/UWTgUSIn case any of the staff are trying to rectify this bug...here is something I noticed that may be helpful. When I discover that my recent change/addition has not been saved (because I must now check after each step by refreshing the html file in the browser, not just checking with control-enter) I have to close edge and restart it. When I close edge it asks if I want to save! It shouldn't be asking this, because I just saved!
I'm wondering if the issue has to do with not enough memory. It seems the problem occurs when there are too many operations during the creation of the new symbol. Edge has to remember each step, so it can give you the option of undoing. Perhaps if there are too many steps "memorized" there is not enough memory left for the save procedure?? Just a thought. If I had more ram would the problem go away? I only have 4 gigs of ram on the laptop I'm using. Do any of you guys who are having similar problems have more or less ram? -
CS6 Crashes When Saving Anything
Today, FNAR, Illustrator CS6 began to crash on save. It does this when saving to .ai, .pdf, .dwg...every format I've tried. I have installed two new fonts, but that was a few weeks ago (and I have used Illustrator since then), so I don't suspect them first off. I would think if that were the problem, the issue would have started immediately. This has happened with other things running (Sketchup, AutoCAD) and with nothing else running but the usual background stuff. I tried deleting that pesky. plist file, too, but could not find the directory it supposedly resides in anywhere on my PC. I also don't think it's a Creative Cloud user account issue, because to my knowledge I don't have such an account (corporate / business license here). In-house IT's solution is: reinstall Illustrator (but that's almost always their solution to anything). Meanwhile, if it is worth mentioning, my other Adobe products (like Acrobat XI) work fine.
I'm a pretty basic Illustrator user, so I really don't know what else to try. Hoping someone has suggestions...

Apart from that, you may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Illustrator CC crashes when saving
Hi all,
I became a member of Adobe Creative Cloud a few days ago.
Today I started working in Illustrator CC, but it really bothers me that everytime I save my doccument it crashes.
Well, at least, it says that it crashes, but if I wait a couple of minutes it works again and it saved my procress.
Also when I close the program and open it again, it already crashes before I have done anything.
This is very anoying, and I wondered if I am the only one having this problem?
I am working on a Windows 7 computer, and with Illustrator CS6 I didn't had this problem at all.Adanja, Cliff,
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, and 11) is about font caches);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall. http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html -
CS4 Crashing while Saving (I believe)
Hi,
Was wondering if anybody else has experienced this. Pro CS4 (PC), & I doubt this has anything to do with it, but just in case - my assets have recently reached just over 1,000 (mostly quite short clips)...from say 700 a couple weeks ago.
Pro has crashed on me a few times now, and it seems to be when I am saving (hitting CTRL + S). I often Save the updated changes every few minutes by this process (not using automatic saving) & then I know I am good!
However, like I said - recently, Pro has been crashing seemingly randomly (except that it is while I am Saving again). No idea why. And just to be clear, the "Save Project" bar (in the middle of the screen is 'saving' partially when suddenly another small screen comes up reading:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Progra...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
And one time (at least), Pro also just suddenly closed/crashed without even this notification. Again, I believe they are all happening while I am saving (CTRL + S) my (most recent, from a few minutes before) updated version!
and ps - I believe...that when I look in my explorer folder to see the most recent Saved edition after a crash of this sort, it turns out that Pro did not in fact save my most recent edition but perhaps the one 2 minutes before that. Not positive on this, but 95% sure.
Thank you for your help!I have only been working on 1 project (for a couple of months), & it just started a few days ago.
And the only difference I am aware of is the additional assets, & went from using about 15 minutes on the Timeline to about 50 now (with the new assets).
...And unless Pro is still saving perhaps, or something.. a couple minutes after the "Save Project" tab shows it is done, and I am conflicting with it by saving again a few minutes later (even though it is 2-4 minutes later), then I don't know!
And Hunt, no DLA options on HD in Properties, so didn't help unfortunately.
Still hoping.... -
PS Elements 11 crashing while saving
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with PSE 11 : each time I try to save a picture I made, PS crashes or just show me a "broken" window (without background or "save" button).
When it crashes, it shows me a detailled report (I pasted the very first part of it next to that) but as i'm not very codes friendly, I don't get a line of it.
Could someone help me please ? (I already restarted my macbook, checked for any update, deleted and re-installed PSE).
