Illustrator CC Crashing (Mac)

Hey folks.. Thanks in advance for any help!
I posting here as a last resort - I've done a lot of research, and I've been up and down the discussion boards. I've done the whole unistall/reinstall, delete all the files/preferences, so many restarts, etc.
Here is the error message I receive. After a fresh install, I can open Illustrator and open files, but after working in the document for a few moments it crashes. This is an improvement. I used to not be able to open anything.
Let me know if you need any more information.

Illustrator CC Crashes - Mac OS 10.8.4

I just signed up for Adobe CC and everything works great except for Illustrator CC.
It opens up fine but as soon as I need to save or open a file it crashes.
I have tried clearing out preferences, uninstalling, installing, rebooting, everything I've read in the forums but no luck.
Any suggestions ?

You will have to find the directory wich contains the offending permissions.
Then right or control click on the directory (Folder) and go to Get Info and to Sharing and Permissions an amnually reset the permissions so that all the users cn read write.
I would suspect the it is either the Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings folder is set for at least you the user to Read/Write make sure yiur user is set to administrator as well. And make sure all the files with in that settings folder are also set the same way. That can be done ffom the get info panel at the oittom there isa drop down to apply the settings to all files in that directory.
Otherwise you will haqve to look at the applications support file in your users adn see that all of adobe Illustrator or cache files.
There is anothe possiblity that this is a font issue even though no fonts were used.
If can not get the permissions set right then it might be a conflict s well within the Preference folder causing AI to think it does not have the permission you either have to find the offender or use new user account and discard the old one.
In any case not a pleasant prospect.

Well first you have to figure out what is wrong with the machine and solve that problem first.
Your post is very vague on what occured, and there are many types of "crashes" it really depends upon what see on the screen and what the hardware does, we can't see it to tell you, so you have to tell us.
I suggest you run through these user tips and provide more information about your hardware.
Disconnect the TimeMachine drive for now

Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
If this is going way over your head, there are local PC/Mac techs that will assist you for a fee, Apple only does hardware repairs and is advised to use them if you discover it is, especially if under warranty/AppleCare.
Hard drive and RAM upgrades can be handled yourself or by a outside tech in many older models of Mac, but don't expect Apple to cover the new parts.

Illustrator CC crashes on startup using Mac OS X 10.7.5

Hi,
after bootup and the welcome screen is loaded, the program crashes when I hover over the program menu/UI.
I've tried several attempt using the guides for 10.8 and 9 versions but no progress so far.
My latest attempt was installing the Java 7 but it didn't bring any luck there either.
I'm using as titled Mac OS X 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro late 2006.
I realized that after update 17.1 of Illustator CC this problem occured. That might be the problem. But as I menitioned before, no fix yet follow instructions for 10.8 or 9 versions of Mac OS X.

Hi Jesper,
Try following:
1. Check if you have all the Verdana family fonts installed.
2. You have Wacom drivers updated to the latest version.
3. You do not have any incompatible 3rd party plugins installed. To check that keep removing 3rd party plugins one-by-one and see if Ai launches fine.
4. Verify read/write premissions on your preferences folder.

If any of the above doesn't work then provide us with a crash log so that we can help you on this further.

Then I moved to a different carpet plugin files that look like this and didn't worked.

I have no idea about the second part of your question but as for Java you need to install the Apple Java for OSX 2014-001. Look for it on the Apple site.

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Anyone have a solution to why Illustrator CC crashes on Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8?

We recently (yesterday) upgraded our Adobe apps to CC versions. InDesign, Photoshop and Bridge all run perfectly. Illustrator crashes at startup. Tried launching it from Administrator account and it crashes. I have disabled fonts except the bare minimum, no success. If it would launch, then I might be able to narrow it down to an incompatible print driver, but it has to actually be running first. We use no third party plugins with it, so I doubt that is the issue.

Illustrator CS5 crashes on quit in Mac

I saw the other thread (the one marked answered) - but fixing the permissions as it suggested did not fix the problem for me. I am running Adobe Illustrator CS5 on a MacBook Pro and everything is up to date as far as I know. Upon quitting, Illustrator always crashes, sending off bug reports to Apple and Adobe. Illustrator CS4 crashes all the time - MAC OSX SL 10.6.2 - update

Yesterday i re-installed all CS4 software (as suggested by Adolfo Rozenfeld) and rebooted my MAC. AE and Illustrator still crash at start-up.
Today, i installed Siverfast HDR (a Photoshop plug-in). By mistake i started After Effects in my old account. Coudn't believe my own eyes : it was working ! Tried Illustrator : working too! Note that the photoshop plug-in is a free demo plug-in. As desperate people do desperate things, if you are experiencing AE crashes at startup, you might try this too... who knows?

Appreciate the feedback, nice to hear of something going right.

Illustrator CS6 crashing when using Image Trace - Make on Mac OSX

Hi all,
I have a user on a new mac that is just a few months old. It has all Mac updates and all Adobe updates, has passed all Mac hardware tests (and a separate memory test) and I ran the disk permissions check yesterday.
The issue is that whenever she uses Image Trace - Make illustrator will crash completely. It doesn't give the spinning wheel of death, it just closes. This happens every time on any image file. While we haven't run every possible command on Illustrator I'm sure, this is the only command that crashes the program.
I have tried deleting the preferences file, but it did not make any difference.
On the crash report, it does give me a details option which gives a heck of a lot of info but I don't know what parts are relevant exactly so I'll refrain from posting the entire thing.
Any help is appreciated.

Illustrator CS6 crashing on Mac OS 10.9.1

Illustrator has been performing fine since install (01/22/14). Performed Adobe update and now it will not open at all.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension manager. I have no plug-ins installed.

Is it CS6 or CC? there has been no update to cs6 recently. In case of CC you can try updating the wacom drivers to latest.

Illustrator CS3 crashes at launch (Mac OS 10.6.8)

Hello everyone,
Can somebody please help me out from this.
I'm using Illustrator CS3 on Mac 10.6.8. As I remember, I had installed some new fonts which I doubt it may have caused the error. I tried removing the User>Library>Preferences>Illustrator Settings folder. Plus I validated all the fonts including the new fonts on FontBook. Still negative. So I can't figure out what's the actual cause and how to troubleshoot it.

Item 11) in 5) in the list below is about font cashes; item 1) is about moving fonts (Illy may reject fonts that go through validation). You may also try to move preferences/folders as described in 4). 6) may be needed.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

External media: It is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky (for a while), but the chances of file corruption and other unpleasantnesses are immensely greater when you use anything but the harddisk, and it is better to be safe than sorry.

Illustrator CS3 crashes when changing locations during save or place. Mac, Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite and fixing the initial problem of not being able to open Illustrator (installing older Java). Illustrator now crashes every time I try to select a location to save a file. If I save without changing the file location it's not an issue. It also crashes when I want to PLACE a file and I try to navigate to the location.
MacBook Pro (2012), OSX 10.10.2 (Yosemite).
Adobe Illustrator CS3 (Yeah, I know).
Changing fonts doesn't seem to be a problem. Large files are OK. It's only when navigating to a location using a drop down menu in the SAVE AS or PLACE dialog box.
Any ideas of what might be wrong?

New information: I switched to the adobe dialog format and it fixed my issue. I'm leaving this here in case anyone else runs into this. However, I wouldn't mind finding out why it won't work the the OS dialog.
